Witty and refreshingly candid, lovely Serena has been capturing hearts young and old alike. Her guardian uncle worries, though, that at twenty-three she will soon become a spinster. He wants a better life for her than that, but she doesn’t want to make a match without her heart being in it.

And none of the men courting her have touched her heart—not Warren, the old friend who woos her even as he eyes other women; certainly not Eustace, the minister concerned more with appearances than compassion; not even Freddy, perhaps the most ardent of her suitors but at nineteen still a puppy.

Then Freddy’s uncle, the handsome Lord Pendleton, arrives to extract his nephew from the woman he expects Serena to be—one interested only in wealth and a title. When he refuses to believe that, far from trying to ensnare Freddy, she has been urging him to return to Oxford, her ire gets the better of her. She decides to let his lordship stew in his own juices. And when it becomes clear Lord Arrogant’s plan is to get her to change her course from Freddy to himself, feisty Serena sets her own course.

The helpful uncle of Freddy is called into action to protect he nineteen year old from the twenty three year old title seeking woman in his life. There are three men that are vying for Serena's attention. The preacher Eustace is really cringe worthy and totally horrible. There is the womanizing Warren that she at one time fancied, but now sees how he truly is. Then there is the young student Freddy that feels he is in love with the adorable and lovely Serena.

When Lord Daniel Pendleton meets the woman he finds himself captivated by her and he struggles to protect himself as well as the nephew. He totally believes that Serena is trying to get the title from his young nephew and meets her with his preconceived notions. Then there is that darned attraction to her that he can't seem to keep at bay.

Serena is a good person that is not who Daniel believes her to be. There are misunderstandings galore in this book. It is a delightful story. I loved Serena and all the would be suitors. But I especially loved Daniel.

It has a nice mystery to be solved as well. All in all just a great little book.

Another great read, ever since I discovered her books I look forward to each new one. After a hard day at work or awful news of the moment, it is so nice to have something to escape into for a while and Claudy Conn book's provide just the escape. This is another of her regency romances where she captures the time, clothing and language, when an author writes in a particular time period of the past it's important to have the language fit the dialogue, it take's one out of the fantasy if the characters use modern language or slang, she sets the stage and you can let go for awhile and be with the characters while the story plays out, hating the villain's and cheering for the hero and heroine. This is the story of Lady Serena, a kind hearted beauty who does not use her beauty to abuse other people in other word's she is not a mean girl, she's feisty, loving and willing to take on the world for the one's she love's. She has 3 suitors bothering her, the Reverend a creepy holier than though type of man, Warren a noble who needs money for his lifestyle and Freddy who at 19 believes he is in a forever after type of love not realizing it's just lust and puppy love. Enter his uncle the dashing Lord Daniel Pendleton, who is convinced that Serena is just out for the title and the money, and the story begins and it is great, I stretched out reading it for a few days to savor the story as I could have read it the same day. If you have not read any of her books give her a try and you will not be disappointed.

Serena by Claudy Conn
Lord Daniel Pendleton travels to the New Forest to speak with his nephew on his sister's behalf. Seems the young pup is determined to marry some older gold digging beauty rather than return to Oxford for his schooling. No doxy was going to use and discard his flesh and blood, not on his watch. When he arrives, he is astounded at just how beautiful the minx is. Too much so for anyone's good, especially his.

Serena Moorely has plenty of suitors, but none her heart wants. Her uncle is concerned about leaving her unwed if he should pass away. How can she get him to understand that she wants more than just marriage. She desires to have a marriage with someone she loves and have that love returned to her. Is that too much to desire?

There are great secondary characters as always, like Daniel's nephew Freddy who is determined to win Serena's heart. The story includes adventure, mystery and romance. There has been a robbery and a murder and somehow the unconventional Serena has entangled herself into the whole mess along with young Freddy.

Another Amazing Historical!!!!What can I say Claudy has done it again. Her talent and beautiful writing never cease to amaze me. What I love most about her writing is her ability to bring you into the story as if you are livng it. Claudy's realistic descriptions allow you to escape into another place and time.
Beautiful Serena has many men both ypung and old interested in courting her. Though she is only twenty-three, her uncle is worries she will never get married and be a spinster for the rest of her life. But, Serena doesn't want to just marry anyone. She only wants to marry for love, and none of the men qho hve been courting her hold her interest. That is until shs meets Freddy's uncle, Lord Pendleton. Freddy wants to marry Serena and have her as his bride, but she is much more concerned with Pendleton. Pendleton thinks Serena only wants to marry wealth and have a title, but that is far from the truth.
This book is another winner from Claudy Conn. Each book I read is better than the last. If you love romantic historicals with a bit of humor, and fiesty women, then Claudy's books are for you.

Lady Serena Moorely, who has been raised by her uncle, is an unwed maid and her uncle would like to see her married before he dies. She has three suitors but doesn't love any of them and that is the only reason she will wed-to love and be loved in return.

Lord Daniel Pendleton, at his sisters request, goes to New Forest to talk his nephew Freddy (who is one of Serena's suitors) out of wanting to marry Serena and going back to university. Unbeknownst to Daniel, Serena has turned down Freddy's proposal and is only friends with him. When Daniel meets Serena, he thinks her beautiful but a woman after money and position. When Serena meets Daniel she thinks he is a very handsome, arrogant Corinthian.

What a delightful romp of a story with sexy romance, robbery, murder and even some humor. This is a terrific Historical Romance and I just loved it and so will you!!

Serena is a very stubborn, independent woman. She was raised by her uncle and now was taking care of him. She is unwed and he's trying to get her to marry before she becomes a spinster. Serena refuses to marry for anything less than love. She has several suitors vying for her attention. Who will win her heart, if any? Grab your copy today to find out!

I absolutely loved this story. Much romance, mystery and adventure! Claudy Conn definitely knows how to keep you interested. I have spent many nights up way past my bedtime reading her books. Once you start reading them, you are addicted instantly. If you have never read her work, I suggest you do so as soon as possible. You won't be sorry, I promise you that!

REVIEW

This is the newest release by Mrs. Claudy Conn and all I can say SHE has done it again. The book to me was Funny, Romantic , Witty, and Action packed as well.

Had me laughing out loud in many spots of the book.

In this book we have Serena who is a young woman who has yet to find a man to marry. She has many suitable suitors however she has not found the one who she loves and of course Love is everything to her. There is one young man who has taken a fancy to Serena but he is a bit young and still needs to be in school. Lord Daniel Pendleton Uncle to the young man Freddie is on his way to collect his nephew.

Once he however sees the beautiful vivacious Serena all bets are off and he is in hot pursuit.
But Serena may be a bit much for the Lord and he is soon to find out just how high strung and stubborn she can really be.

But will that stop him? HAHA I think that’s likely not going to happen but I am not going to tell you so
Go pickup this fantastic book and find out for yourself.

I love how Claudy writes her regency romances. They are light and fun with love and passion and a bit of mystery and suspense. You are easily pulled into the story.

This book had it all sweet romance, passion filled love making, mystery and suspense that will keep you turning the pages to see what happens next.

Serena, a beautiful young lady who is happy with her life. She takes care of her uncle and he wants her to find happiness and marry but she is holding out for a love match. She knows that none of the men she has met will do. Well that is until she meets Lord Pendleton.

Lord Pendleton has come to save his nephew from a marriage to a woman who he thinks is only after his title and money.

Serena and Lord Pendleton meet and the sparks fly right away. This is a must read!!! Loved everything about this book. You will have to read it to see what is going to happen :)

I found this read in a boxed set called Imperfect Gentlemen. While I recommend the boxed set just to have more reads at a better bargain, I chose to review it individually while still fresh in my thoughts. Serena is playful and spirited. She is also apparently on every available bachelor's wish list. Several men are trying to win her hand and at 3 and 20 her uncle would like to see her settled. One said man/boy is younger than her by 3 years as he's soon to turn 20 and has fled school.

This is where Daniel comes in, it is his nephew that has thrown his responsibilities aside to chase after his hearts desire. Daniel has been burnt once in love and is convinced she is after his fortune. For all his worldliness and experience he doesn't stand a chance against Serena but when the reality that she owns his heart is clear he finds he doesn't mind at all.

This book packed a little extra as Serena and her youngish admirer,Freddy, unravel a mystery and place their lives in danger. The story was a Angsty at times because our couple could not complete thoughts or were stubborn that kept misconceptions going threw 75% of the book. The one love scene is modern conception. It's is not only in the open woods in broad daylight but the two carry through with no acknowledgement or mention of consequences. I held more contempt with Daniel for I felt it weakened his character a bit in my eyes. A true gentlemen would have made it clear from the beginning that there would be an understanding but I felt he made up for it when he played hero and let her know what a fool he'd been as the book was wrapping up. She was childish at times too so that went both ways. Enjoy!

I wanted to like it

I liked the premise. But the "love" at first sight on her part, the jumping into intimacy and stupidity on his part all left a bad taste in my mouth. How do you love a man who pays no attention to the words coming out of your lips. She tells him point blank I've told your nephew to go but he won't. He hears I'm marrying your nephew for his title and connections. He had a social climber break his heart and warp his view of women. And he never apologized for believing her a liar and a tart. Add to this the completely unnecessary subplot and it's not a love story. Just another young woman setting herself up for disillusion.

Rough Narration! Story was just barely okay. (audible review)

I think I am just not a Claudy Conn fan. No offense to Ms. Conn. I just find her books all over the place and random characters popping in. The story lines become a bit messy and scattered.

I did like the heroine, Serena she was smart, witty, full of spunk and a strong female character. I liked Freddie he was full of life and excited about everything. The Hero, Daniel was okay. Nothing great about him. The chemistry was just meh.

There was lots of dialogue throughout the book and I do like lots of dialogue so there is that.

As for the narration, It was not very good at all to me. I didn't care for the voices the reading style and inflections she added. I do believe I will pass on this narrator forever more. And probably this author too.

I would recommend reading this book and not listening to it. Seriously. It does seem from the other reviews posted I am in the minority here. Oh well, this is my opinion and I stand by it. I am glad so many others enjoyed it and it was not a struggle for them like it was for me. Glad its over.

Recency romance

This romance runs like a classic stage farce, with a slew of men all in pursuit of one girl, and she has her reasons for turning each of them down.
One of them is a still a boy of nineteen, and his mother sends her brother in to get him away from the "gold digging older woman". Serena is 23. The rest of the story is of their immediate attraction and denial of it, with a crime investigation thrown in for good measure.
I was hooked from the beginning and couldn't put this book down. Funny, sexy and romantic with intrigue in the mix too

What a waste of a good story! Serena is fantastic heroine. Daniel thinks a gold digger is trying to marry his nephew. He comes to stop the hussy. This could not be father from the truth. Serena has too many suitors. She tries everything to dissuade the young man.

The book could have been great if Daniel would have believed her. It takes till the very end for him to believe her innocent. His lack of trust, even though everything pointed to her being a good person, ruined the story.

Serena

This is a cute little story about a young lady who has waited for a man who she can give her heart to. Meanwhile there are more than enough men who fall in love with her. Along comes a Lord who has come to rescue his nephew from a siren that has him enthralled.

While I enjoyed this book, it seemed a bit schizophrenic. It started out as your run-of-the-mill risqué
Regency romance, with the hero getting into the (virgin) heroine's drawers, and then multiple misunderstandings keeping them apart, but then ... Robbery! Murder! Stolen gold found in a crypt! I guess Claudy/Claudette decided that love wasn't exciting enough to keep her readers' attention by itself.

Excellent read

This is another great book by Claudy Conn. This is a story of a young boy of 19 named Freddy, who is in love and wants to marry a beautiful girl of 23 named Serena. Freddy writes a letter to his mother and tells her that he has found the girl he wishes to marry and his mother is distraught, he should be going to Oxford university and he was entirely too young to marry. She confided this to Lord Daniel Pendington and he told her that he would ride out to find Freddy and he promised her that Freddy would be going to school and he agreed that Freddy was too young to wed. Once Daniel arrives he is taken by Serena's beauty yet he is upset that she would wish to marry when she should be asking Freddy to go to school. Lord Pendington (Daniel) was unaware that she had already refused Freddy on 2 different occasions and told him he needed to go to school. Freddy, on the other hand was smitten and hoping he could change her mind. And needles to say she has other suitors that wasn't her hand in marriage. Serena is wanting to marry for love and not convenience. The moment she sees Daniel her heart beats erratically and she is drawn to him. Daniel has always been able to control his feelings yet there is something about Serena. As time goes by he knows he does not want to spend another day without her in it. At the same time there is a ship that was carrying gold, yet the gold was robbed, and Freddy and Serena saw 2 men arguing, later that day, they witnessed one of the men get killed, they both saw things happen that put there lives in danger. This is a great book of adventure and romance. Amazing read!

Loved it a second time..

This is one of those books that's real close to either loving it or hating it, and only a little in-between. I actually loved everything about it. I absolutely loved Serena's personality and sense of adventure. I loved Daniel and his confusion about what was going on between Serena and his nephew Freddie. And I love, love, loved Freddie. The voice the narrator gave Freddie was just fabulous, always so full of life and child-like excitement. I loved that it wasn’t just a silly love story that went on and on and went nowhere. It had robbery, treason and murder in it, so there was something to look forward to other that another misunderstanding, and a whole lot more angst. Oh, there was angst in this story but there was something more than that, too.

I really liked the secondary characters, Serena’s uncle, Squire Moorely, Jasper, Lewis and Billy. I really couldn’t stand Eustace or Warren from the very beginning.

There was one explicit sex scene in this and no swearing.

As to the narrator: As long as a narrator can make men sound like men and reads with such emotion you really can’t complain. Even if a female narrator reads like a robot I can overlook that as long as her men sound like they should. And Mary Sarah Agliotta’s men definitely sounded like men, so I’m happy with the book.

I liked this book better than the last one I read from her list of novels. I really liked the characters, and the story. The plot was similar to the other book of hers I read. Strong willed woman who will only marry for love, but gives away her virtue rather quickly, with no declaration of love or commitments. She has an uncle, and is wealthy, but at twenty three, she is hardly on the shelf. The opposite is true, because she is surrounded by lots of men, who indeed seek her hand. She is in love, but has no idea if he is. The language between the characters do not seem as unrealistic, but she really needs to stop calling her female characters my beauty, my beauty all the time. When he romances her, he is over the top, and literally says the same speech that was in the last book. She is a good writer, but her editor needs to step in. very easy read. one day. There is no 3 +, so I went with a four.
