The conclave’s forces had reached a tipping point. Due to the vast expanse occupied by the empire’s thirty-five territories, Admiral Cordelia and Commander Tocknicka previously had to bide their time. They employed discreet tactical actions to harass the Krackus overseers and their mercenaries, the Radags. Now, Tridents in the hundreds and multiple Quadrants, with their experienced crews, were in place to deliver strategic actions against the Imperium Empire.
There was a major unknown. Tens of peacekeeper patrol fleets were sent home to the Paltur system. The admiral was aware of the unrest among the Krackus fleet commanders about the executors’ cruel orders, but she didn’t know what the commanders would do if numerous conclave ships arrived at Imperium.
Tarbar and Parvelt continued to shine a light with their broadcasts on the executors’ excesses. Listening to the broadcasts, Imperium citizens grew more restless cycle by cycle hearing of their leaders’ egregious misdeeds.
Another thing challenged the conclave’s success. The admiral wished for a bloodless revolution for the empire. It’s swath of space was so large that the assembly mustn’t be toppled in a coup. That would endanger the delicate economic balance that existed among worlds.
To succeed, the admiral needed the executors to abandon their positions. That would be difficult as the executors through many annuals had accumulated fantastic wealth and enjoyed unlimited power. Time would tell if the admiral could manage a peaceful transition for Imperium worlds.
From my early years to the present, books have been a refuge. They’ve fueled my imagination. I’ve traveled to faraway places and met aliens with Asimov, Heinlein, Clarke, Herbert, and Le Guin. I’ve explored historical events with Michener and Clavell, and I played spy with Ludlum and Fleming.
There’s no doubt that the early sci-fi masters influenced the writing of my first two series, The Silver Ships and Pyreans. I crafted my stories to give readers intimate views of my characters, who wrestle with the challenges of living in space and inhabiting alien worlds.
Life is rarely easy for these characters, who encounter aliens and calamities, but they persist and flourish. I revel in examining humankind’s will to survive. Not everyone plays fair or exhibits concern for other beings, but that’s another aspect of humans and aliens that I investigate.
My stories offer hope for humans today about what they might accomplish tomorrow far from our home world. Throughout my books, humans exhibit a will to persevere, without detriment to the vast majority of others.
Readers have been generous with their comments, which they’ve left on Amazon and Goodreads for others to review. I truly enjoy what I do, and I’m pleased to read how my stories have positively affected many readers’ lives.
If you’ve read my books, please consider posting a review on Amazon and Goodreads for every book, even a short one. Reviews attract other readers and are a great help to indie authors, such as me.
The Silver Ships novels have reached Amazon’s coveted #1 and #2 Best-Selling Sci-Fi book, multiple times, in the science fiction categories of first contact, space opera, and alien invasion.
I recently finished “Imperium’s Demise“by S. H. Jucha, the final book in the Gate Ghosts Series. While I knew the series was coming to an end, I still found it hard to say goodbye. On the bright side, Jucha will continue with these beloved characters as they tackle a new challenge faced by the Concave, and I’m eager to discover what lies ahead.
I listened to the audiobook version, which I downloaded from Audible. At thirteen hours and seventeen minutes, it was a captivating experience, and Nicola Poole did an excellent job narrating the series.
The author, S.H.Jucha, has created many worlds in this series that are fleshed out and believable, while maintaining an interesting narrative. He has populated these worlds with complex characters who I have found largely relatable. I’ve cheered for the good guys and booed the bad ones and cried for those fallen heroes. Jucha developed his stories with depth using moral conundrums and he makes the reader think about decisions that the characters make, not just good and bad, but complex results of those decisions. His characters can be seen to grow as individuals and learn from their experiences and mistakes. I find myself checking frequently to see if the latest book has been released. I have loved all of these stories and can’t wait for the next chapter. Thank you S. H. Jucha for such wonderful worlds to spend my time exploring.
I did not like this book. I liked most of the other books in this series. For me this book had tooooo much political stuff. I am hoping that the next book will be a lot better.
The Gate Ghosts saga has come to an end. As with life there are side stories which will only continue in the minds of the readers. The Ghosts was a complex storyline, with wonderful past characters from the Silver Ships, and new characters, who will continue on in the coming tales. The author S.H. Jucha, writes for a fantastic future of possibility, tempered with the human condition, that is not Gene Roddenberry’s, hopeful utopia- yet more based in the continued human frailties of greed in self-centeredness, but also of people willing to work for the betterment of all.
I’m really looking forward to the next Saga, which, unfortunately I think will be the end as we will meet the creators of the Gates.
the end of another great series from Scott Jucha!!!
Since reading the Silver Ships series I have been captivated by Scott’s writings. His characters, situations, and unexpected events have provided many hours of great reading. I was excited to see that he is starting a new series to follow this one.
One of the best indicators of great writing is knowing that you have a great library of Scott’s’ books that you can read again!
I’ve read them all. Been reading sci fi for over 50 years. His series are different. Elevated. Deep but you can still run. Empires. Tech. Politics. Romance. Drama. Races. You name it. Not every book is perfect, and I’d probably tighten them up a bit. But, I am hard pressed to come up with anything comparable. Silver Ships and its descendants have my highest recommendation.
The Imperium Empire has another (very) dark secret to be revealed and this secret will either take the Imperium down OR pave the way for a new beginning for both the Krackus and suborned races.
The character gallery is still huge, but new and old characters enter and exit the story at times. The end of the series set up the start of another...of which I'm about to start reading now
This final book in the 14 book Gate Ghosts series did a fantastic job of wrapping up the many stories. Some of the heroes began with the first book in the series and others appeared along the way. I’ll definitely miss these characters but it looks like many are heading into the next series. Maybe the next series will call back to some of the worlds left behind in this series.
Thank you, S. H. Jucha for such great entertainment
I am very sad to see this series come to an end. I love all of the characters and I will miss them. At the same time I’m looking forward to reading the next series. I can’t wait to see where it will take us.
I have read all 14 books. Love the story and the overall concept. The author has remained true to his conception and strong storyline. He took me away to several worlds, I am in these spaceships traveling with everyone. Looking forward to the new series.
Good resolution to their biggest challenge and time to move on.
Cry for help brings the best the Conclave has to offer. First wave is outbound while others wait to hear their feedback. Advances continue for the world's left behind and old friends.
I’ve read S.H. Jucha’s Silver Ships, Pyreans and Gate Ghosts series and loved every book. His ability to develop characters and keep me guessing through book after book keeps me coming back. I’m just sad I now have to wait for the next series to begin. Great fun to read!
We keep expanding the universe of Action and new races will eventually be part of the conclave. Z and Miranda will start an adventure that could mean a lot of looses, lets see who will be baack
This one really dragged. I've read every book in the extended series and the last few in this series have been monotonous. This series should really have finished at about book 10 and concentrated the interesting bits into those books.
I have read this series twice now. The second time after reading the Silver Ships series which filled in a lot of detail and background. The characters are well rounded and the action was riveting. Great series
I look forward to seeing more from this Author. I have read from the beginning and I love the characters. Please show us more of your inspired stories.
