Tears of Blood #2

His Cure for Magic

Rate this book
Magic is a disease. Magic can be cured. He has it, they need it, or thousands more will die. In the second book of the Tears of Blood series, Silas and Eryn find themselves running out of time and with only one an ancient map discovered by chance, revealing the location of a place thought only to exist in legend. The Dark. A place of nightmares. A place of death. A place of magic gone horribly wrong. A valley perpetually shrouded in thick clouds, where the very air instills the deepest fear, and monsters lurk in every crevice. It is a place none would visit by choice, but for the Silas and Eryn there is no choice. They must descend into its darkness and uncover the secrets hidden within. If they fail, Eryn and the magicians like her will die, taking all hope of a free Empire with them. They think they are searching for the cure for magic. Nothing will prepare them for what they find instead.

Awesome

It isn't often that a book has something I didn't expect but through the twists and turns of just Eryn and Silas surviving, I was surprised and am now wondering, where do we go next. This series is awesome go start with book one now.

These books started out like every other YA book and I was prepared to be bored and to stop reading, however it surprised me with its depth, really unexpected (and at times weird) twists and turns, and great character development. I am really invested in finding out what happens and I really enjoy the characters (even the villains) with their flaws and all.

I loved the first book but didn't enjoy this one as much. The humour and characterisation didn't seem as strong and I lost interest a few times. It's obviously necessary for the back story moving forward in the series.

It's just a book to create the setting for the rest I guess. It ends abruptly and followed by the book 3. We learn more and more questions arise.

I didn't like the use of Him or His, and it happens a lot in the series.

A brilliant continuation to the first book. It reads well, although it got confusing when they entered the Dark. I had to read it twice to understand, but then that would be just me. Recommended high fantasy read.
