12 Days of Christmas

Frosty the Farmhand

Rate this book
He’s Frosty…and I want to make him mine.

If spreading Christmas cheer was a sport, I’d have a gold medal. But Harlan Frost, Wintervale’s newest resident, is completely unimpressed with the holidays.

b>And me.

The grumpy farmhand is just passing through our little slice of Montana heaven and he’s determined to avoid me as much as possible until he moves on. Good thing I like a challenge.

But the moment his tough exterior melts away I know I’m in trouble. Harlan owned me with an intensity that stole my breath and a potent mix of tenderness and passion that threatened to rob me of my senses.

It’s raw and addicting. And so fleeting I never saw the end until I was free falling for a man who’d warned me from the start.

Harlan isn’t frosty - he’s ice cold.

Find romance in the 12 Days of Christmas from 12 of your favorite romance authors. From enemies to lovers, MCs, friend’s sister, age gap, billionaires, grumpy/sunshine, and more, look no further to find your perfect Christmas boyfriend.

Frost the Farmhand is a MM standalone novella set in the Wintervale world. It's a workplace, found family, grumpy sunshine romance with tons of banter and holiday cheer.

Frosty the Farmhand by Alexandra Hale is part of the 12 Days of Christmas multi author series. This is a grumpy/sunshine, sweet, steamy, holiday novella.

Harlan Frost thought he had found forever love, until he was deceived and deeply hurt. After bouncing around for a bit, he has taken a seasonal job at the Wintervale Tree Farm in Wintervale, Montana. Once the season is over, he’ll move on to another job. Harlan most definitely lives up to his last name, he is downright frosty! He hadn’t counted on Reid, though, melting his icy heart!

Reid Sterling is the nephew of the farm’s owner. Reid works behind a desk a lot of the time, for the farm. But he also gets out and works hard in the field when he’s needed. He loves the life on the farm. To work there is all he’s ever wanted. When he hears about the new scowly farm hand, he can’t resist trying to brighten his day with a little bit of his Christmas cheer.

These two felt the pull from the start but Harlan was not about to repeat what happened to him before. He needs to stay away from Reid but that’s easier said than done. They couldn’t stay away from each other. One night turned to two which turned to more.

This was filled with Christmas cheer and lots of hot chocolate. I’m definitely craving ALL the hot chocolate now. It’s a quick novella, perfect for a rainy afternoon which we just had. So tuck in with a blanket and enjoy!

I was obsessed with how sweet Harlan was with Reid once he started to warm up. As grumpy as he was for Reid he was sweet, although he still had his moments where we wanted to tell him to remove his head from his butt 🙄. The ending was so unexpected and adorable, we love a groveling man that is not afraid to show his soft side!

I was honoured to receive this as an advance copy of this story and this is my honest review

Harlan Frost (aka Mr Frost) has been burnt by a previous relationship that he believed was serious.

After this he arrived in Wintervale, Montana where he managed to get a temporarily Christmas job on a Christmas tree farm, whilst working for the Sterling family.

Reid (aka Christmas) works on his Uncle's farm and takes a liking to the newest hottest staff member. Reid is a nerdy, geek with glasses but he's decided that what he WANTS is Harlan. Reid goes to all lengths to get Harlan to admit the he wants Reid just as much as he wants Harlan.

Harlan tries fighting his feelings for Reid as he doesn't want to repeat his previous history so he tries to protect Reid as much as he can by trying to stay away from him.

There are plenty of chasing, flirting and innuendos in this story. When they both finish fighting their feelings, we discover the gruff and grumpy Harlan LOVES his PDAs and has no problems in showing this in public and talking dirty which means Reid constantly turns red when he blushes!

Harlan gets triggered from a text message from his boss, so his mind goes back to the bad incident that happened in his last relationship and he panics as he thinks the same thing is going to happen again.

After all this can Reid and Harlan find an amazing Christmas tree or will it be a Charlie Brown tree?

This was so adorable!!

I love the author’s descriptions of the two MMCs. Harlan is hot, grumpy, and a little bit broken after a relationship gone wrong while working as a ranch hand for a wealthy family. Reid is a hot nerd with a cheerful disposition and a killer smile. Harlan picks up seasonal work on Reid’s family’s Christmas tree farm in Wyoming (or is it Montana? My short term memory is s#!t sometimes). The two feel a pull towards each other that only increases as they spend more time near each other, working together.

This pulled at my heartstrings. It’s a simple story in the sense that it’s a quick read, but some of the dialogue between characters is just so sweet and beautiful. I love how Harlan calls Reid “Christmas” at various points. I’m a sucker for cute nicknames, and though Harlan calls Reid “Christmas” a bit wryly at first, I especially love when it comes out that it’s because he thinks Reid embodies the beauty, hope, and cheerfulness of the season. SWOON. These two are just so perfect for each other. The spicy moments are good, are there are some moments of delicious tension leading up to the two having sexy time.

If you like a grumpy/sunshine dynamic between MMCs within a feel-good story that also has dashes of spice and a HEA, then this is 100% for you!!

Frosty the Farmhand is such a cute - and smutty - MM Christmas novella! It’s got all the cozy vibes with a grumpy/sunshine workplace romance set on a Christmas tree farm. The insta-attraction and scared-to-love storyline fit perfectly with the novella format, making it a quick but satisfying read. I especially loved the supportive family dynamic - a nice change from a lot of other stuff I've been reading lately! Perfect for a festive and spicy holiday escape.

ARC Review: 4⭐️

Frosty the Farmhand is a spicy MM Christmas Novella featuring Harlan Frost & Reid Sterling.

Harlan is temporarily working at Reid’s family farm before he moves to a new job in February. There is an instant attraction between Harlan and Reid, but Harlan isn’t willing to risk getting involved after his last job and relationship ended so poorly by getting involved with the owners son.

But the attraction they share is to much to ignore. Will Harlan have a repeat experience or will Reid’s family be more accepting and want him to stay working at the farm?

I really enjoyed this novella, and was hoping that things would work out between Harlan and Sterling in the end and I wish there was more of them!

Thank you Alexandra for the ARC!

A quick, easy holiday read. Reading the blurb, I knew I was going to enjoy the story, the descriptions of our main characters, had me smiling before I even started.

Harlan and Reid are so perfect for each other, the opposites attract and all that. The setting is a Christmas tree farm, workplace grump/sunshine, instant attraction, for this spicy novella. Will Harlan move on with the season, or fall for the geeky charm of Reid?

Thank you to the Author for the advanced copy; this is my voluntary review.

So Cute!

Oh I loved this one!! Grumpy/sunshine for sure but it didn’t take too much to turn mister grumpy to a low level sunshine also lol

Reid is one of those that just EXUDES sunshine year round. Harlan came to Wintervale broken and it doesn’t take long for Reid and this wonderful town to break through his barriers to heal his heart.

I absolutely adored the way he made him hurting Reid. Very cute and sweet with a side helping of Hot AF!

This book was so much fun to read!

Looking for a winter romance novella that’s spicy, MM, and packed with all the grumpy/sunshine goodness you could ask for? Look no further than “Frosty the Farmhand” by Alexandra Hale! This quick, fun read brings you opposites attract, workplace vibes, a cowboy on a Christmas tree farm, and enough sizzling chemistry to melt any winter chill. Oh, and did I mention the witty banter and cozy found family feels? You’re going to love it.

Meet Harlan Frost: rugged, reserved, and rocking some serious emotional baggage. He’s in Wintervale, Montana, for a fresh start, working a seasonal gig on a Christmas tree farm. Enter Reid—the farm’s cheerful, nerdy, and oh-so-charming co-owner with a killer smile and a magnetic personality that could probably power the town’s holiday lights. These two couldn’t be more different, but when they meet? Sparks. Fly.

Harlan’s been burned before and has a fortress around his heart that even the Grinch would admire. But Reid, with his holiday cheer and irresistible sweetness, is determined to chip away at that icy exterior. Watching Harlan wrestle with his feelings while Reid quietly melts his defenses is pure magic. Reid, meanwhile, is one of those characters you instantly adore. He’s all warmth, energy, and good vibes—a perfect foil for Harlan’s brooding grumpiness.

And let’s not forget the side characters! They’re full of potential for future books, and honestly, I’m already counting down.

If you’re into grumpy/sunshine, Christmas tree farm shenanigans, or just need a cozy, spicy winter romance to snuggle up with, this novella is a must-read. Don’t wait—get frosty!

This grumpy/sunshine holiday romance is an absolute treat, blending heartfelt moments, humor, and just the right amount of spice. Harlan Frost, rugged and reserved, arrives in Wintervale, Montana, to escape the scars of a past relationship, picking up a seasonal job on a Christmas tree farm run by the cheerful and nerdy Reid, whose killer smile and geeky charm are impossible to resist.

The chemistry between Harlan and Reid is electric, with plenty of teasing, innuendos, and flirtation that build delicious tension. Reid knows what he wants—Harlan—and he won’t stop until Harlan admits he feels the same. Harlan, still haunted by past betrayal, tries to keep his distance but can’t deny his growing affection for Reid. Their dynamic is a delightful push and pull, and watching Harlan melt under Reid’s charm is deeply satisfying. Plus, Harlan’s gruff exterior hides a surprisingly affectionate side, complete with swoon-worthy public displays of affection that leave Reid blushing.

The story also features some tender and heartfelt moments, especially when Harlan affectionately calls Reid “Christmas,” a nickname born from admiration for Reid’s embodiment of the joy and hope of the holiday season. Add in a few spicy scenes and a happily-ever-after ending, and you’ve got a feel-good read perfect for the holidays.

If you love a grumpy/sunshine dynamic with sweet dialogue, festive cheer, and a dash of emotional depth, this one is a must-read!

ARC REVIEW:

“That’s the best present I’ve ever gotten, Christmas.” “Me too, Mr. Frost, me too.” 🏳️‍🌈❤️🎄⛄️

I always fall hard for the couples in Alexandra’s books and Harlan and Reid in this book were no exception! Frosty the Farmhand is the perfect cozy Christmas novella to make you believe in the magic and love that Christmas.

Harlan and Reid are so perfect for each other and I found it impossible not to love them! Harlan is such a grumpy cinnamon roll that was unfortunately burnt by a past relationship, while Reid is the perfect golden retriever who helps Harlan get rid of his burnt edges and become the ooey gooey cinnamon roll that everyone already knew he was.

A big part of what I loved about this book was how welcoming Reid’s family was to Harlan and the relationship with Reid they all knew was destined to be. Even though there was a small third act break up because of a simple miscommunication, I enjoyed that it wasn’t spread out unnecessarily and ended up being corrected by the end of the same day with a beautiful grand gesture apology that family and friends helped set up.

One of the cutest Christmas novellas I’ve had the pleasure of reading! It literally smothers you with adorableness, gives you that feeling of finding home in the person who makes your heart sing, and happy tears are a real thing when one of the most thoughtful and sweetest ways on the planet to let someone know you wanna be around forever falls from the lips of the grumpiest farmhand at a tree farm. If you’re looking for a holiday love that can get warmth flowing through every ounce of your body and has you all up in your feels and giddy happy, this is it!

Heart. Melting. Perfection. Literally no other way to describe this read. Harlan and Reid are ridiculously perfect for each other, when they’re together they make all their broken pieces whole and you can feel it in each word of this holiday novella that gives you absolutely everything and makes you wish there was so much more because there is no such thing as enough of Mr. Frost and his Christmas. From finding love to finding family, laughs and heartbreak, hot nights and grumpy days, it just hits all the right notes of an absolutely outstanding short read.

“You’ll forfeit the ranch if it’s true,You know better than to get involved with the help.” “I won’t give up the ranch. The ranch is my legacy…. Nothing else matters.”
Right here he has erased an entire year of their love. “Help is temporary,” Tobias says, giving him a slow once-over, “but a legacy lasts a lifetime.” …. This… a masterfully crafted story by Alexandra Hale. Dante Black just turned his back on their year together and Harlan walked away on the ‘severance pay’ that Dante’s bro Tobias slung his way as he was also slung off their land. Now Harlan is back working the soil with honest toil vowing not to be burnt again. But watch out Harlan as your journey has barely begun hun and Reid isn’t for turning away . He will get his way and you will see how good love can be…. Aww so sweet! Great writing by a fine author ,what more would you want for Christmas?A real treat ,a happy ending . Frosty met his match and they both catch their male egos and put them away . This story is spicy and fun and has to be a hit this Christmas.Frosty can come out to play but not bite unless Reid says it’s okay….

Book Review: Frosty the Farmhand by: Alexandra Hale

I love Alexandra’s books and this one was such a sweet little holiday treat. Harlan was just such the epitome of a toasty marshmallow and Reid is the total cinnamon MMC! He totally melted that toasty outside for Reid I mean sometimes he was growly and I wanted to slap him at one point but man oh man can he grovel and who doesn’t love a good grovel!

I was so glad that Reid finally got his HEA he has my whole heart. And these two together were just electric!

Even though there were some heavy topics in this short novella it was so well done and you could help but love the two of them and how they found the way to their HEA. Can’t wait to see more of them in future stories.

Frosty the Farmhand is a quick and adorable festive MM novella set around a Christmas tree farm (and featuring a few cameos from well-loved characters from other series).

The attraction between Reid and Harlan is instant but after having his heart broken Harlan has no intention of acting on it, nor is he planning on hanging around after his seasonal job is finished. But sweet, kind and obedient Reid gets under his skin (and on his knees), and slowly Harlan starts to think he might feel differently. Except the spectre of his past is always hanging over him and making him lack trust in himself and others.

The big demonstrative 'moment' is lovely - very sweet and thoughtful, especially with Harlan opening up his heart to win Reid.

This novella is a great mix of Christmassy vibes, spicy moments (their first frantic time together in the barn when Harlan takes charge - phew!) and quite literally sweet experiences as the couple taste-test different hot chocolate flavours to find their favourites. Delicious!

Many thanks to Alexandra Hale for the ARC, this is my honest opinion.

Received an ARC of this prior to release.

Very easy, breezy holiday romance. This one is MM, so be aware of that going in.

The good: I LOVE a punny holiday title. And then you go and name one of the MMCs (who happens to be a bit of a grumpy gills) Harlan FROST?! Sold. The dynamic between the two was fun to read and while there was some third act conflict, it was low stakes. This book may have also sold me on a new type of hot chocolate (dark chocolate and raspberry? Sign me up).

The bad: if this had been a little longer I think it would have helped flesh the connection between characters out. Some of these characters exist in other books so I know that’s part of what I’m missing, but I would have loved to get to know both MMCs a bit more from their interactions with the side characters and each other.

🌶🌶🌶🌶

Mr. Harlan Frost is the man who stole Christmas. Literally. The romance in this story is so, so wholesome. The spice is HOT and so, so good.

I loved reading this novella. I was honestly in a bit of a reading slump and struggling to get through anything. This completely cured that - I couldn't put it down! Harlan started out a cold, dark, frosty man with brick walls around him. He truly bloomed into a beautiful character and learned so much about himself in the process. He learned lessons on how to acknowledge and move on from past trauma, a fate that befalls many LGBTQ+ people.

Reid was the sweetheart that everyone dreams of but somehow always seems to get passed up. He had his own trauma to process, but Harlan was able to help. The relationship the two of them shared, while short initially, was so fulfilling in the end.

I love a holiday romance, and Alexandra Hale has written a fun, spicy, and sweet novella that had me feeling all the holiday spirit!

I absolutely love this novella!! The banter and sweet moments between Reid and Harlen were perfect and I absolutely loved that Reid helped bring Harlen out of his self induced solitude and into the found family that he was always meant to be a part of. Both men had been hurt in the past by people that they trusted and to see them get a HEA together with some  small town Christmas magic made for a perfect read this holiday season.

Frosty the Farmhand is a perfect mix of sweet and spice, perfect for the holiday season! I loved this novella so much. The fast pacing was great as was the writing. And I adored both of our main characters. Harlan was closed off and a bit grumpy (for good reason) and I enjoyed seeing Reid come in with his sweetness and holiday cheer and try and break down Harlan’s walls. They had amazing chemistry with each other and the spice was so good! But there was also a sweetness to their relationship that I also liked.

On another note, Reid’s family was so supportive. I’m looking forward to seeing each of his cousins get their happily ever after.

I highly recommend this MM holiday novella for anyone who loves the grumpy sunshine trope or if you’re just looking for a fun Christmas time read.

after being betrayed by his ex whom he thought he was going to spend the rest of his life with, Harlan is determined to not let another workplace relationship get the best of him, which may turn into a problem at his temp job site with owner's cousin, Reid.

this book was short, spicy, and cute. a perfect holiday novella. Harlan was definitely hurt BAD from his ex and his frosty personality perfectly fits his last name. but I loved the tenderness that he had for Reid and those two fell hard and fast.

there was a tad too much drama for me with how short the book is, but I do love how protective Reid's family is over his happiness and Harlan did need to prove himself to stay. but overall, thoroughly enjoyed this read.

Relationships are hard, but when you mix family and money in there as well, you get a bigger mess then it is worth, after Dante chose his inheritance over what he thought him, Harlan, had no choice but to find work somewhere else, but he didn’t plan to find it in Montana. Harlan is now a worker at the Christmas tree farm in Wintervale, Montana. It is just a pit stop on his way to his next seasonal job. Then we meet Reid, he lives with his cousin Wren, her family owns the farm where Harlan works. Mr. Grumpy pants meets Mr. Fun, sometimes you must allow yourself the chance to be happy again no matter how hard you think it will be. The boss’s family is off limits, or are they? Do you keep fighting the urge to get close them and have that kiss or do you keep pushing them away? Grab this amazing book and find out if Harlan and Reid finally get to have their happily ever after.

First things first everybody needs a Reid in their lives! Reid is the sweetest ray of sunshine.
Harlen broke my heart within the first page of this book. The man truly just wants to belong and be loved.. And he is fully unprepared for the love that the Sterling family has. Winston Sterling truly has the biggest heart of all of them. The love him and Elora have for not only all of their children but for everyone. The bond between Reid and all of his cousins is amazing. The protectiveness Beau, Lake, and Jesse have for him was pure perfection.
Harlen fighting the pull he has with Reid was heartbreaking. Watching him spiral and panic broke my heart. But what was even more so was when he realized that he messed up.
I truly loved these two. This book had me laughing and crying in a matter of 100 pages.

I absolutely adored this book! The chemistry between Reid and Harlan is instant the moment they meet. Both have been burned by love in the past and know they shouldn’t jump into anything—let alone together—but the sparks are undeniable, and they just can’t seem to stay away from each other.

Even Reid’s family can see the connection and ends up pushing them together, which only makes things more complicated. Harlan initially plans to stay only through the holiday season before moving on to a new job, but after meeting Reid and his family, he’s starting to rethink his plans.

This book has everything you want in a romance: spice, chemistry, friends and family banter, plus a solid backstory for each character. I hadn’t read anything by Alexandra Hale before, but she’s definitely gained a new fan after this one.

Hale gives us a Christmas treasure with this short MM novella just in time to get us into the holiday spirit!

It's always a good day when Alexandra releases a new title, but this is one I never knew I needed. If you're looking for a quick, spicy read of the holly jolly kind - look no further.

Harlan reaches Wintervale, MT looking for a short term job before moving on after having his world crushed at his last place of employment. Hoping to keep his head down, and his gloomy mood out of the spotlight, he stumbles across Reid.

When sunshine and clouds meet, something explosive is destined to happen and that's definitely the case with these two.

Fall in love with the holiday spirit with this page turner.
