First of all I have to say that if you love this series as much as I do…DO NOT read the epilogue until book four is released! Talk about leaving you on one hell of a cliffhanger. It’s one of those that leaves your eyes left wide and your breath held.
So now that I’ve warned you, let me tell you how much I loved this book.
If you’ve read the first book, you’ll remember Rose. She’s Rebecca’s sister, the one who offered her sister a place to stay when she needed to get back on her feet. She’s a work-a-holic attorney who loves her job, or well she was, until she lost it. Now, in order to keep up appearances, to herself and others, of staying on track with her life’s Plan, she hasn’t told a single sole that she’d lost her job and her apartment and is now living in her car.
Manny, the ever happy and laid back drummer for The Lonely Kings has glimpsed Rose’s true colors and wants to see more. He isn’t about to let a little thing like her secret homelessness or stubbornness keep him from getting to know her better.
“I wanted to see you come in the moonlight,” he said. Then his smile softened. “It was even more beautiful than I thought it would be.”
Rose’s mouth seems to contradict her thoughts and because of this she ends up in Hawaii with the band, or more importantly…Manny. It doesn’t take long for their smoldering embers to ignite into a full on inferno. And WOW what a ride it is!
“I can’t dance for all these people!”
“Not for them,” he said. “For me. Show me what you want to do to me with your body. Show me how much you want me.”
My Favorite Laughable Moment: I hate to say this, but Carter is still the funny one in series, and I loved it when they were filming in the water and he had a little incident with a fish.
“I feel it,” he was saying as I pulled up behind the cameras. “It’s wiggling in my asscrack, I swear it is!”
My Favorite Moments: I have two. The first one is the waterfall. Wow and yum rolled into one heck of an afternoon. And two is a broken door and the perfect entrance. Thank goodness Manny made the correct assumption, which he later explains as to why he did.
Both the plot and the characters were annoying. Rose,an entertainment lawyer, lost her job over a year ago and is living in her car. She meets Manny, the drummer of the band, The Lonely Kings. Rose spends most of the book trying to solve Manny's problems when she can't fix her own. Awful!
I loved mannys and rose story....I loved the drama and I like the fact that the author made her body the way she did...cause mostly it's all about big boobs so I like that...can't wait for the next book
Much better than the last one. We first met Manny and Rose in the first book. Manny is the pot smoking, laid back, nothing ever bothers him drummer for the rock band, The Lonely Kings. Rose is the older sister of Rebecca who is dating the bass player, Kent (book one is their story). Rose is a lawyer, she is the planner. When she was young, she came up with her life Plan. And now that she has lost her job, and her home, she is still having trouble giving up on her Plan. Manny accidentally stumbles onto Roses troubles, and invites her to Hawaii to watch the band shoot their latest video. But Hawaii holds terrible memories for Manny. It is also home to what remains of his family. A not so warm or loving family. Manny and Roses relationship starts out hot and heavy. They both know it will probably never come to anything long term, but along the way, they become good friends. Manny helps Rose learn that not every moment of your existence needs to be planned out. He teaches her to be spontaneous. Rose teaches him that sometimes planning things out, and standing up for yourself is the right thing to do. In the earlier books, Manny was constantly stoned. He seems to have cleaned up his act in this book. But it was never explained when or why he's chosen to slow down on the pot. That was my main problem with the last book, too many gaps and lots of unexplained things. Gaps in the story. Fortunately this was the only gap in this story. The book ends with a tiny cliffhanger that set up Sonyas story. Just a small warning, there is an assault scene towards the end of the book, that some might find uncomfortable.
Another amazing instalment in the Lonely Kings series. I was gripped from the start, Manny has always been a sweet background character, happy go lucky and to read his full story was heart breaking. I loved the story and how the closeness between the band members is shown once again.
Rose meets Manny at a party, the last time she saw him was at a lunch with her sister. The attraction she felt in the first place is still there and after an unusual night of confessions and intense chemistry Rose is left with an invitation to Hawaii. Manny has secrets of his own that come into play whilst the band are in the process of making a video but will anyone be able to help him?
I loved the layers to Rose and Manny's stories. Rose is such a strong character in the other books it's interesting to see the change in this instalment. The ending is a nightmare though and I was crushed to see that the next book isn't out until next year argghhh!!! Whenever the book is out I'll read it - I absolutely love this brilliant series and can't wait for more.
What I enjoy most about The Lonely Kings series is the way the lovers fit together -- the way they change each other. I really admire the detail and care that's gone into the character development in these books.
Ava Lore has such a distinct voice, yet all the Lonely Kings stories each have their own feel to them. The texture of this, the third book in the series, is defined by the setting, Hawaii, and by the laid-back rock god Manny. We get to visit glamorous beach houses and secluded private beaches. And the romance? It's as hot as ever.
Also, we get little cameos from the previous couples in the series, of course. (I was so pleased to see Carter and Aylen again! I think they're still my favorite.)
Emmanuel Reyes is my favorite member of The Lonely Kings! From Book One in this series, I have adored him. Of course, him being a sexy drummer helps the cause...lol But, this book cemented the fact that he is a great soul. Even in the face of a messed up past, he just made me smile. Rose Alton won me over with her strength, handling he problems on her own, not asking for the help she clearly needs. Manny and Rose are a great couple balancing each other in the best possible way. LOVED THEM!!!!!
So, Ava Lore is officially a guilty pleasure read for me. There is lots of stuff that doesn't really make sense. Dangling threads... and yet I still enjoy the hell out of myself.
If I didn't read as much as I do, then I might not enjoy this fast food romance but I do so I do.
We have a sexy drummer who just likes a woman. The woman is perfectionist overachiever whose life has gone to crap.
I love Manny and Rose. I love Manny ' s free spirit and his strength. Even though Rose has always been there for everyone else she hides so much. And when Manny helps her come out of her shell it is destined for greatness. I love this story most out of the series. I love the passion and protective nature you find in Manny, the one whose always dubbed as the goof in the band. But you see the meaning behind those funny traits and you see the longing he has for love.
I just love Manny!!!! LOVED reading this book of the series!! I think a lot of women can relate to the Plan and how it never turns out like you think it will!!
Only thing missing was the lack of drug use by Manny. Not saying that's a bad thing but, thought it should have been addressed in the book.
Enjoyed the other two books in the series and this didn't disappoint. Rebecca's sister Rose is down on her luck and just about keeping up appearances. Manny is the drummer with The Lonely Kings and his easy going attitude couldn't be more different than that of Rose. Any unlikely couple at the start but both change enough to make it a believable story.
Fantastic book, I laughed so hard at what Rose said and many things she didn't say, only thought. I will say that having the book end the way it did was just wrong. I certainly hope the author is ready to publish #4 right away! I'm dying to read more!
My mouth is hanging open still. How can this book finish on such a massive cliff hanger? Loved he story and the finial outcome, but the last page threw me. Can't believe sonya story isn't released yet. I can't wait. The wait is going to kill me.
OMG Manny's book is like so good. I loved it. oh my the end. But seriously if you haven't read Kent and Carter's book read them. Seriously when is Sonya's book coming out. Soon????
I have really enjoyed this series. However I can't stand authors that leave cliffhangers. Do they think no one is going to read the next book without leaving a cliffhanger?? ugh.
The most indulgent of the three but in a way that's a lot of fun. Rose is a great narrator, witty and sharp, and the characters all bring interesting interactions to the table.
