A popular local journalist goes missing just before she has the opportunity to turn in her story exposing unscrupulous cat hoarders. Not only is Colbi a friend of Savannah and Michael Ivey, Damon (now out of prison and employed by the local newspaper) has a strong personal interest in her. In fact, Damon breaks some rules and some trusts in his search for Colbi.
Is this a love connection? It’s doubtful because Colbi is a strong advocate for the feral cat population and Damon hates cats—or so he believes. Will a kitten in need change his heart?
Colbi’s rescue is almost too late. She needs time to heal both physically and emotionally. So the Iveys invite her to recuperate in their home. Just when Colbi begins to feel safe, a body is discovered in the Iveys’ orchard and Rags (their kleptomaniac cat) goes missing. Can someone in a nearby homeless camp shed some light on the evolving mystery? Does Rags have a secret of his own?

AMAZON keep putting this book on my site to tell me that I hadn't read it.. It seems I missed reading it. After checking into my book library, I realized Amazon was correct so I downloaded it to read. It is the fourth book in the series .
In the fourth book of the Rags, Klepto cat series Colbi is kidnap and held prisoner by a couple of cat hoarders who have poor ethics, Colbi was about to expose them in her column. Damon become interest enough in her to take over her feral cats' colony. He notices a grey kitten which he name Dolly and keeps in his house. How does Rags respond to meeting Dolly? Will he find Colbi before kidnappers decide to kill her? I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK AND SERIES.

There's plenty going on with Undercover Cat~ the fourth book in the Klepto cat mystery series by Patricia Fry.

Damon Jackson has a rocky past, he even spent a stint in prison, put there by a cat no less, but now he works as a journalist at the Hammond Daily and really feels drawn to fellow co-worker Colbi Stanton. She is an animal lover, and is especially fond of cats, and is working on a major story that will expose a major kitten mill and cat hoarding situation. When she disappears no one is sure what happened to her. Damon wants to find her, but isn't sure where to start, but when Rags provides a clue they hope they might have figured it out!

I have read each book in the Klepto Cat series and let me tell you each storyline grabs hold and wont let go! The series is written like a revved up cozy mystery where it isn't easy to figure out who the guilty culprits are! I love reconnecting with the main characters lives, whenever I pick up a book in the Klepto Cat series I feel like I am visiting with old friends while being drawn into the mystery that is going on, and I must say there was more than one mystery woven within the pages of this one, of course we had the disappearance of Colbi, but there was also the issue of what Savannah might be seeing late at night, a dead body, along with a couple of budding romances, and the anticipation of a baby kept the plot from ever lagging. The animals, especially Rags really enhance the story. The author's descriptions bring Rags and the gang to life, easily allowing me to imagine the house and surroundings. Fans of cozy mysteries are certainly going to enjoy this entire series, but anyone who enjoys an intricately woven plot with a small town feel, unique characters, romance and a not so easy to figure out mystery will find this book right up their alley. This book could probably be read as a stand alone, but honestly I recommend reading the entire series.

I received a copy of "Undercover Cat" from NetGalley and the publisher in exchange for my honest review.

Once more we enter the world of Vets Savannah & Michael Ivey, their friends and four legged babies. In "Undercover Cat" Rags aka Klepto Cat is finding some strange items that the Ivy's can't explain. A piece of tatting, a dirty glove, a business card what do they mean and how are they connected to a missing reporter and the strange lights behind the Ivy's orchard. Colbi Stanton disappears after a witness loud disagreement with fellow reporter and ex-con Damon Jackson. After all he was sent to prison with the help of Rags, or is it connected to the story she was working on about animal horders, abusers and scammers. She was about to name names and send some people to jail for a long time.

Drawn into the drama and friends with Damon's mother the Ivy's try to figure out what is going on in the orchard behind the home, support Damon and prepare for the upcoming birth of their first child. Danger and questions move closer and closer to their home endangering them and their friends. The the body of a strange woman is found in the orchard. Can They discover a killer and help Colbi before the killer strikes again? Rags holds the answers if they are smart enough to figure out the clues he brings them.

You will learn more about feral cats and their care. Discover the type of sleaze that use the charity of caring hearts to their own greed. Meet the adorable Dolly and how she changes the heart of a non-animal lover! This is a great read even if it is a few years old. A clean cozy with no gore or adult language or heated sexual scenes. "Undercover Cat" is suitable for readers of all ages. I gave it a 4.75 out of 5 stars rating. I am still not sure it didn't deserve a full 5 stars. Patricia Fry has a winner with Klepto Cat. I look forward to reading more of the Ivys, Rags and their friends.

Strong believable characters and a fast moving plot with sub-plots that keep a reader involved and glued to the story. Pick up a copy for yourself. It also makes a great gift for the cozy mystery or animal lover in your life.

Ok not great

Series should be read in order. Lots of characters with back stories. This is 5th book I've read. Not thrilled with female characters all of them are "weak and looking for a man to save them". Women always crying and details repeated that are not necessary "her hiighlighted blonde hair". Animals do play enough of a part to add some charm.

This is a fun series of books. The animals are as much as any human character to the story. Especially rags who is always stealing things that help solve the mysteries in the story. There is kidnapping, murder and a bunch of other crimes. Rags is a big help in solving them. It is a book full of cats. There is also some dogs. I prefer dogs over cats and like this series a lot.

The setting is California a lot of it happens around the Iveys' home and orchard.

A newspaper reporter Colbi turns up missing and looks like she was kidnapped. No one knows why. Her co-worker Damon was last seen with her having coffee and fries.

Colbi lives alone in her family home. She loves animals and is feeding a bunch of wild cats. She is working on a story about cat hoarders. She has no relatives left.

Damon has been a character with a lot of problems in the first few books of the series. He has turned his life around now. He really likes Colbi. He is writing for the local newspaper now.

Savannah and Michael Ivey are a married a couple now expecting their first baby soon. They have Rags and a few other pets. There has been a lot of murders around them. They met in the first book of the series Catnapped.

There is a cast of familiar names that we have seen in the first three books. While reading the whole series makes the story richer it can also stand alone by itself.

I did not want to put the book down till I saw how it all turned out. It was a easy fast read.

I was given this ebook by the author so I could read it and write a honest review about Undercover Cat.

Book Readers Review

Undercover Cat is the fourth book in the Klepto cat mystery series by Patricia Fry. Rags the Kelptomaniac cat is up to his tricks again. Cat hoarders, scam artists, kidnap, and murder are the mysteries Rags has his ‘hands’ or we should say paws in his bid to help his ‘humans’ solve the crimes. Who cannot love the bundle of fur and his escapades? All of Patricia’s stories in the series can be read as standalone. But if you have read any of the books in the series, it is lovely to reconnect with the characters and the progress in their lives.
Patricia has the gift of making the reader at home and involved with the people and events in her novels. She creates vivid images in her words and descriptions making you part of all that happens. Readers who enjoy cozy mysteries will love Undercover Cat and want to read the whole series. The challenge in mysteries Patricia creates, is to delve deep into the plot and join the players in unique lives and abilities in solving the crimes.
I have read several of the Kelpto Cat Series, thoroughly enjoy them and always look forward to the next. I highly recommend these stories. Thank you to Patricia for the review copies. 5 Stars

Okay, I'm addicted-I admit it-to this cozy mystery series featuring the kleptomaniac cat Rags and all his assorted brothers and sisters both animal and human! This is the fifth book in this series I have read. I think I have missed about three of them and will be reading them soon--in addition to any new ones that come out. Obviously you can read these and enjoy without reading the others (as I seem to have done)-but there is a thread with all the same main characters.

Rags would make Houdini proud--he can find any escape hatch to the outside world. Somehow he always manages to find objects which he artfully steals and hides in his toy box or other places if it needs to be found. But this big, klepto has a soft heart as well--or does he just want to train an accomplice?

There are a couple of mysteries to be solved and Rags gets involved in each one. Savannah is expecting her baby-any day now (probably have it in the next in this series)--a young journalist is abducted and will they find the cat hoarder scam artists and the man going around murdering old ladies? Read the book to find out!
