Cleo & Theo, two hideous names right? But two characters worth your time to get to know. These two met in kindergarten and became best friends. By age 13 it was a first kiss, love and married by age 17. But a huge loss, their age and their grief kept them apart. Now Cleo has filed for divorce because she’s engaged, she hasn’t seen or spoken to her husband in twelve years. He became a huge rockstar and stayed away, it’s how he’s survived his grief, by staying away and staying high. He’s decided it was time to face his demons, so it’s off to rehab and going to face his wife. She’s the only woman he’s ever loved. Will she give him a second chance? Will she breakup with her fiancé for Theo who abandoned her? I was glued to this book, I love the members of his band, so now I’ll have to read the first three books, but I digress. Cleo is a spitfire and Theo is a sweetheart and I found myself laughing, crying and smiling. Their chemistry sizzles right off the pages, and when they looked at each other it was swoon worthy. When they finally got together, it almost exploded my Kindle. These two were so broken, but I loved the journey back to each other. This story is awesome, I’m giving it five stars and highly recommend it.

This is a well written book with strong characters in Theo and Cleo. The author does a great job developing the story and paints her scenes perfectly. She takes you into their lives with chemistry and steam, emotions and a second chance romance and love. She moves the story fluidly and delivers a terrific read.

Second Chance Rock Romance

All it took was one night that changed life for a happy couple into the shell of what they once were. Theo went on after the tragedy to live the life of a rock star in his band The Oath. Cleo stayed behind and after so many years apart she now wants a divorce.

Can Theo convince her otherwise since she still is the love of his life and can they get past what tore them apart all those years ago? This was emotional story that touched my heart.

Cleo & Theo: Book 4 of The Oath: Second chance/ grief & healing/ small town/ rockstar romance: Trigger warnings: death of a child & addiction (These are handled with sensitivity). Can be read as a standalone. This is a tragic and beautiful story that deals with anger, grief, healing, and second chances. Lacey Furr did a great job with this story. I was fully immersed into their lives, and went on this emotional journey with them.

Both Carry a Lot of Baggage… can they help each other carry the load?

People handle grief in different ways. For Theo it was running and alcohol. A fatal accident on wet roads at night took the life of his baby girl. Theo was dozing off during the ride home that tragic night while Cleo, his wife was driving. It was an accident, but when you lose a child the grief is heavy and the guilt refuses to stay silent.

That was long 13 years ago, the time when life changed for Theo and Cleo, when their world was turned upside down. They both dealt with it in different ways but there comes a time when you have to pay the piper. Feelings, emotions and relationships have to be resolved. Theo and Cleo loved each other deeply once upon a time. He accepted Cleo when others wouldn’t. He befriended her when no one else would. They got married, had a little girl and were building success in music. And about 18 years ago they tied the knot, got married and life was good…. Until it was not, until that fateful night ended it all.

Not having seen Theo even once during that 13 years, Cleo is finally giving up and decides to file for divorce. Theo has to go back ‘home’ to sign all the legalities… his first time back since he ran. Yes, he had a life of fame and fortune with his band The Oath, but all the actresses, models and groupies couldn’t fill the emptiness nor change the love he had for Cleo. How can he convince her to give him another chance, especially when she is with another man who put a ring on her finger?

Never underestimate The Oath. They may be a rock band but they are a family in the truest sense. And now after all these years Theo opens up to them, telling all his secrets. They come together, rally together and fight together for and with Theo. And remember Bas, an Oath member? Let’s just say it’s good Theo has Bas for a best friend. Watching all this unfold brought back memories of the group we met in the first two books. Yes, this book is gripping and emotional, but it’s not all sadness and sorrow. There are some places I found myself giggling too… a lot.

🤔OBSERVATIONS:

✒︎ I didn’t remember Cleo in past books so I was confused the first couple chapters. I remembered Theo going to one of Athena’s performances but didn’t recall the background. Athena is Cleo’s sister and an actress. She plays a minor role here but an important one. Poor Cleo, between Athena and Theo, she was played and fell right into their trap.

✒︎ Did Theo cheat after he ran… it had been 13 years after all and they were still married. The answer is maybe, maybe not…that depends on how you see cheating… Same with Cleo… was her dating and later engagement to Malcolm cheating?

✒︎ Loved the nicknames Theo had given Cleo and that he never forgot them. She was his Turtle Dove and Spitfire

✒︎ Getting to spend time with The Oath family was good. It’s not necessary to have read the first three books but if you did, you’ll get to revisit the people featured in the past books. In this book you get a good grasp of Theo and what made him into who he is now.

"Cleo must've hated me for a time anyway and yet she kept my secrets."

Let me just say upfront, don't read any of the reviews. I can't believe how many of them are filled with unmarked spoilers. It's ridiculous so many readers think it's ok to just give away major plot points without any warning at all. I understand it's difficult to say much about this story without giving away any secrets but that's no excuse for being selfish.

Anyway, on with my review. Let's start with the obvious, Theo and Cleo. (Yea, I know, just get past the names.) Their story is going to rip your heart out plain and simple. Don't fight it. Just grab a box of tissue and unplug your phone. These two have been through so much pain that I desperately wanted them to finally find love and happiness. They sure deserved it. No one ever said Finding Forgiveness would be easy.

This is book four in the series. While you don't have to have read the first three books you'd be foolish not to so just do it. They are all wonderful books and I promise you'll love them all.

I really enjoyed Finding Forgiveness by Lacey Furr. It was my read by this author but it certainly won't be the last. I was quickly drawn to Theo and Cleo's story. Best friends since childhood only to become so much more until tragedy tore them apart. Instead of staying to fight and heal together Theo ran off and joined the Oath rock band. Now years later Cleo is finally trying to move on so she needs Theo to sign their divorce papers. When Theo comes to town will they finally be able to overcome the past? Definitely planning to read the previous books!.
