Impasse: A Rock N Roll Fairy Tale

Rate this book
Although Tinseltown chewed up and spit out many, it had been kind to Shaena Bennett. At twenty-five she was an up-and-coming hair and make up artist, and her daughter, Braylee, was a well-adjusted firecracker eager to turn five and take on the world. Not bad for a single mom.

Yep, so long as Shae didn’t hear his gravely depths on the radio or catch glimpses of him in the news—who was she kidding, she saw the pigtailed version daily—she was fan-freaking-tastic. But then came the photo shoot that sent her face-to-face with Brady Rock-God Thompson and life went into a tailspin, along with her heart.

Mutinous Assault was on top of the charts. They were living semi-clean (by rockstar standards), touring their butts off, and padding their pockets. So why was lead guitarist, Brady Thompson, drained by the scene? Sure, nothing was better than playing to thousands of roaring fans, but the sex and drugs part of “sex, drugs, and rock n roll” was old. His attitude quickly changed, however, when he laid eyes on a make up artist at another lame photo shoot. There was something sexy as hell and disturbingly familiar about this chic. He couldn’t put his finger on it, but he certainly wished she’d put her fingers on him. Give him time ... give him time.

I'm a sucker for rock star romances ever since I read A.M. Madden's Back-Up Series, then Anne Mercier's Rockstar Series and I enjoyed this one. I love great romance, especially emotionally sexy reads with some kink but sometimes I enjoy a good rock star read one that I don't have to think too hard about and just want to sit back and relax. I'm looking forward to the next book.

A really good fairy tale!

I really enjoyed this book. I read a lot of rocker romances and this one was a breath of fresh air not following the normal format for these stories. The story is about a 19 year old girl, Shae, with a fake id meeting and sleeping with rock star, Brady, not knowing at the time he was married. She finds out she's pregnant and decides with him being married and reportably a drug addict and alcoholic that she will raise the child on her own without him knowing. After the child, Braylee, gets old enough to start asking about a daddy Shae realizes she's going to have a problem. when a situation comes up where she has the opportunity to work for the band in hair and make-up she knows the time has come to fess up. although Brady doesn't initially recognize her they still feel the same chemistry that was there when they met. When the truth all comes out Brady is enraged that she didn't tell him and he missed so much of Braylee's life. Shae is nothing but apologetic to him and immediately lets him start to spend time with his daughter. He decides he wants Shea to suffer for keeping his daughter away from him. This is where it gets irritating. I can understand his resentment and her feelings of guilt but when she actually gets sick from those feelings and never defends herself it gets kind of unrealistic. she had every right to be concerned about a married drug addict having anything to do with her child. Nobody in their right mind would have scrambled to make sure he knew about the child unless they just wanted money or the spotlight. This never really gets addressed between them and it should have with the way he was treating her. This is my only complaint about this book. It has a HEA and I recommend reading it.
