Sugartree Romance #4

Maple Melodies

Rate this book
Virginia Remillard, famous amongst her three siblings for her unmatched tenacity, has never shied away from going after what she wants in life… unless you count long-time friend of the family and her forever crush, Ryan Hood. Though she’s confident he’s noticed her in a new way over the past few years, Ryan refuses to acknowledge Ginny as anything more than the cute, baby sister of his friends.

In a moment of unbridled frustration, Ginny takes out her annoyance with Ryan on an unknown patron of her favorite record store, leaving a sternly-worded letter any southern woman would be proud of and more than a little sass in her wake, leading to an unexpected pen pal in him, Melody Man.

When Ginny and Ryan start seeing more of each other, thanks to Sugartree’s upcoming Bicentennial celebration and a flag-football game they're both committed to winning, Melody Man quickly becomes Ginny’s ever-encouraging confidante and a friendship she hadn’t known she needed.

You will fall in love with this family all over again, this time following the youngest sister Ginny.

Ginny is such a fun character to follow with a spunk all her own, which results in a lot of humorous moments. Yet the struggles she faces add such relatabllity to her and create beautiful moments of faith.

I love Ginny and Ryan together and think the story was paced so perfectly.
You will be cheering for their happily ever after and love seeing familiar faces along the way. I love how this family loves and follows the Lord. It's honestly one of the things I love most about the Sugartree Fall series.

It is a truly wonderful story from beginning to end that will keep you hooked, I promise you won't want to put it down.
If you are looking for a story that will give you the warm and fuzziness of a good cup of coffee on a rainy day, this should be your next read.

Thank you B.r goodwin for an early copy of this wonderful book. Though i was given an early copy to review, my words and opinions are my own.

For the record (IYKYK) Maple Melodies is my favorite in this series, and considering my love for the previous installments, that is high praise. Mysterious record shop penpals, mutual pining, best friends little sister trope done so well, the beloved quirkiness of Sugartree, Georgia on full display and characters you would love to be friends with are just a small handful of things you will find in this book. B.R Goodwin has a talent for weaving laugh out loud (and real laugh out loud, none of that sorta chuckling business) shenigans with thought provoking faith arcs. This is romcom with achingly beautiful spiritual depth, people. Oh, and we can’t forget Gus the grumpy feline, and the most delightful playlists you didn’t know you needed.

Seriously, pick this series up!

While I’m a sucker for a good rom-com movie, I don’t actually read these types of books usually. Brianna’s Sugartree Romance series, though, has been an exception, and each book has been a fun break from my usual reading fare. This last installment in the series was hands down my favorite, though!! 😍👏🏻 Maybe it’s because I’m a music lover like Ginny and her mysterious pen pal. Maybe it’s because fall is my favorite season. Maybe it’s because I love You’ve Got Mail, so all the secret letter writing stuff was right up my alley. Either way, this book was the perfect recipe for a story I was eager to read every day this past week! It was so much fun—though I wanted to shake the characters a time or two towards the end lol—and I might have been squealing with happy tears in my eyes during the last several pages. 😆☺️😍🧡

Well done, Brianna, and congratulations on wrapping up this series!!!

Perfect ending to this series! The banter and swoon just gets better and better. We have been rooting for Jenny and Ryan since what… book two?? And watching their love and faith grow has been so satisfying. BR Goodwin has established herself as an official master of sweet romcoms and witty banter. I can’t wait to see what she has coming next.

LOVED this book! I'm a sucker for the secret penpals trope, and this one did not disappoint. Ryan's always looked at Ginny (aka Virginia) as his friends' baby sister, and he's not sure what to do with the feelings he's starting to have. Ginny has had a crush on Ryan for the longest time and doesn't know why he's been avoiding her. Then they start leaving notes for each other at the music store, of course not knowing who they're actually writing to. I loved the "You've Got Mail" moment when one of them finds out but doesn't tell the other. The main trope wasn't the only reason I loved it, though. I also enjoyed the delightfully fun family dynamic. The siblings teased each other to no end and meddled in each other's business, but they also offered advice when it was needed. I liked that faith was an easy topic of conversation. It wasn't forced into the story but flowed well right along with it. Read this if you enjoy fun-filled, faith-filled, romance with fall vibes!

Honestly, I did not expect to enjoy Ginny’s story as much as I did, but it was amazing to see her mature from the start of the series to this point. The balance between faith, pointing people to Jesus, managing realistic issues, and swoon-worthy moments 😍 was perfect! I discovered that I may be most like Ginny, especially since we both love romance novels, musicals, and The Office. I loved the bonus epilogue that tied a beautiful bow on the series’ finale.

I am looking forward to reading more of B. R. Goodwin’s work!

I have absolutely loved this series so so much, every single book is so well done! Now I do have a favorite in Honeysuckle Breeze but oh my goodness Maple Melodies has tied with it. What a fantastic read, it’s so lighthearted yet has you feeling all the feels and such a fantastic faith thread it’s really well done. Virginia and Ryan’s story is delightful. I loved the You Got Mail vibes and lived for the Mighty Ducks references!

Here are a few favorite quotes:

“Ginny wondered what the protocol was on kissin’ the living daylights out of the physical education coach in the guidance counselor’s office. Questionable at best, but she thought she might like to ask for forgiveness rather than permission in this instance.”

“He knew the right words and the scripture and the Truth in his head as knowledge, but maybe he needed to see it. Experience it. To know Jesus in heart and mind were two different things, and if Ryan couldn’t trust himself, a heart clearly following after Christ, he’d never trust his feelings for her or anyone else.”

“But I’m not a woman…I’m a duck!”

Hands down ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Maple Melodies is the fourth book in the Sugartree Romance series. While you could probably enjoy this story as a standalone, I think you'll get the most out of it if you've read the previous books--- as there are several references made to previous events and you'll just better be able to understand the family dynamics.

We've gotten to know Ginny and Ryan throughout the rest of the series, so I was excited to get to their story... and it did not disappoint...though there were certainly some moments I wanted to give Ryan a little shake! Theirs was definitely a slow burn... but the payoff was so worth it. I loved the letters between Ginny and Melody Man and found that really added a lot of fun to the story. Each book in the series has had a playlist, which my music loving heart has loved--- but as the title suggests, music played an even bigger role in this one--- and I think had my favorite playlist yet! Between the music, the laughs, the pining and the strong Christian messages, there was so much to love about this story! While I'm sad to see this series come to an end (because I absolutely adore the Remillard family and am not ready to say goodbye to the antics), this was certainly a great way to end it!

Maple Melodies is a Christian romance with kisses only and no language.

**ARC received for consideration. All opinions are my own.

Ryan + Ginny

I was hooked from the very beginning! This is probably my favorite one in the series. I am a sucker for a MMC trying to deny his true feelings. They’ve been friends forever but Ginny is younger and feels like he just views her as the annoying sister of his best friend. I loved the record store letters! All the moments where he would find her in a room and quickly look away. He couldn’t look at her too long 🫠 Ok. It is official. It is definitely my favorite.
Brianna can sure write some sweet romance books!

Favorite quotes -
“It doesn’t matter what we do, Gin, because I just… I just want to be near you. The more I pray, the more you are at the forefront of my mind and heart. And the more I see you for what you are… The only woman I want to be with.”

Your words, Ginny, are my favorite song. But it's your friendship that is the only tune I hear on repeat in my head all day long. So here’s my secret: I want that dance. I want them all… with you.

Content -
No foul language
Kissing only

I Love this book! I think it might be my favorite in the series, but they're all so good it's hard to choose. I love that each one is Christ centered and talks about relatable hurdles in everyday life for us humans to overcome. While also providing real life belly laugh moments that you just can't help but wish you were there in person to actually be a part of. I enjoyed the pen pal aspect so much as well as the music references. This book made me cry happy tears. You should read it, you can't help but fall in love with this family and these books.

Loved this Christian rom com twist on the You’ve Got Mail story! I think this might be my favorite of the series. Lots of silliness and humor but depth and gospel centered faith and growth too.

Another sweet cozy book from B.R. Goodwin that has completely stolen my heart. Ginny and Ryan's story is one of the best of the series. "You've Got Mail" has NOTHING on this novel. Mystery pen pals, flag football games, record stores, and the gospel.... it doesn't get much better than this. This book has all the fall vibes, combined with the adorable town of Sugartree, GA. Have I mentioned how much I want to move there and work at Good Start Coffee?? This book was glued to my hands for the whole 48 hours it took for me to finish it. I've said it once before, and I'll say it again, this series is one that I will be reading year after year, and season after season. Maple Melodies was the perfect end to the Sugartree Romance series. In my opinion, this one has the BEST playlist of all. If you're ready to be emersed in Sugartree with the sweetest, most tight knit family, I highly recommend reading this series over and over and over and over again. Because, let's face it, you will never ever get tired of the best love stories ever.

I love the Sugartree Romance series so much, and this installment is no exception. We finally get to read Ginny's story and it's filled with all the same goodness as the others. The youngest of the four Remillard kids, Ginny is feeling a bit lost as the others are all busy with their own families and she's taking her place as the inhabitant of the Good Start loft. There's still great sibling, and love interest, banter and so many relatable moments. Goodwin writes the best characters that you can either see yourself or a friend in, and they're not too perfect. They all have their weaknesses, and they learn from each other and their mistakes...sometimes hard mistakes. Through Ginny's story she keeps coming back to relying on God and His provision for her life, knowing her worth as child of God, giving glory to Him. The "breaking point" is hard and I could feel the hurt in the characters, but it was so believably written and the resolution, with two people realizing they both had made mistakes, was so good. I plan to reread this, and the whole series, probably every year.

4.75 rounded to 5 stars.

Maple Melodies by B. R. Goodwin is the final book in the Sugartree Romance series. Virginia (Ginny) and Ryan’s story is a super cute romance full of You’ve Got Mail vibes and forced proximity due to a crazy conniving family. Ginny has been in love with Ryan for sometime and it appears he might feel the same yet he fights the attraction thus leading to mixed signals and hurtful moments. A few times I wanted to shake the daylights out of Ryan. Thankfully he does redeem himself in the end and the last chapter in particular gave me all the feels. I loved how the siblings rallied around Ginny. And while they may at times create embarrassing situations with their meddling ways, when she really needed comfort they came together and showered her with love, support, and some wild passive aggressive retaliatory pranks on Ryan. 😂

And as always B. R. Goodwin snuck in some wonderful faith lessons amongst all the romcom drama. In particular the reminder of the importance of church and fellowship, forgiveness and grace, and praying one’s desires to align with God’s. In every story, naturally each sibling found their love interest physically attractive (sometimes for me the comments got a little carried away) it was a heart in love with Jesus that they ultimately found appealing. Absolutely love that. 😍

Maple Melodies is the perfect ending to this series. It’s a bit bittersweet to say goodbye to this quirky town and crazy Remillard family…and especially Gus the cat.

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC from the author. No positive review was required. All thoughts and options are my own.

“I’ll be patient and wait this whole thing out and keep praying. Praying you’ll forgive me and that you’ll see me not as your friends’ little sister, or the girl you don’t know how to feel about, but as a woman… in love with you. Because I am.”

—-

Y’all, B.R. Goodwin can do no wrong. If I am ever stressed, overwhelmed, or just in a slump, her books are usually one of the first I turn to. Beyond a comfort read, her books rise up to gently convict your soul and — as you turn the last page — you want to strive to have the same character development as her characters. Maple Melodies is bittersweet, because while it was the most awaited Sugarcreek Romance, how will Goodwin be able to top the most adorable couple that is Ryan and Ginny? The growth, the relationship, the faith themes within this novel. There is nothing that could have been better.

Maple Melodies will have you humming along with each song referenced and lyric shared as B.R Goodwin once again orchestrates laugh out loud scenes, believable sibling banter and small town antics that will have you devouring this sweet southern rom-com!

Virginia is frustrated over only ever being seen as the “cute, baby sister” and is lonely now that all of her siblings are coupled off. Desiring to be noticed in a new way, “Ginny” finds solace in her favourite record store and the unexpected letters of her pen pal, Melody Man.

By the end of Maple Melodies, you’ll be in harmony with the Remillard siblings. No longer just the four of them, their family story wraps up back in the prominent loft that holds a special place in each of their lives now bursting with spouses and children.

This entire series is just delightful, and I'm so sad to say goodbye to these quirky, sweet characters. I knew I was going to love this book as soon as I saw it had You've Got Mail vibes! Ginny may be my favorite of the sisters. I love the depth of faith woven throughout the book. And I love how both Ginny and Ryan were seeking God for direction in their lives. The family has such a strong bond and they're so much fun. The sibling banter is chef's kiss and the romance is swoony and tender (and well worth the wait!). Definitely one of my favorite romcom series of all time!

I would not mind a second-generation series following everyone's kids. Just sayin'.

Snaroonky and Swoonarky!! Maple Melodies is so full of fun banter, snark, and swoon that I have been compelled to invent new words. From the prologue to the end Virginia and Ryan’s story is full of fun and laughter, while still dealing with the heartbreak and the hardships of learning to communicate and all the ups and downs of building a relationship based not on their own personal baggage but on what God’s plan for their lives is.

Goodwin weaves a continuing family saga in Sugartree with the close knit Remillard family once again encouraging each other to seek God first but highlighting that life can still be fun even through the hardest parts.

If you have read the first two books in this series, then you know that Dakota and Sadie love to poke fun at each other.

Dakota has wanted to date Sadie for a few years, but Sadie holds back because she doesn't want to risk the relationships she has with all of the Remillard family.

This is a he falls first, friends to more story that will have you chuckling and tearing up because it's so heartwarming to watch these two people find each other in the storm of life, love, and hard lessons.

I love this author and her stories, and again, she brings all the emotions out of me with this one!❤️❤️

So much fun! Fall is my favorite season and I loved the You've Got Mail vibes. I was always so dumbfounded by Ryan's behavior in the previous book and the beginning of this one, until we found out why he was acting the way he was. But I loved seeing his and Virginia's romance playing out.

I thoroughly enjoyed this series! Every book made me laugh aloud and cry, and I'm obsessed with this family and small town. I think Honeysuckle Breeze is still my favorite, but I loved them all and I'm sad it's over! I'm so thankful that the author has more books for me to read.

I really enjoyed this cute love story!! Virginia has been in love with her older sister’s guy friend, Ryan for years! Only problem, he acts like he can’t stand to be around her. Everyone tells her to move on, but she just can’t. Well, until she starts writing anonymous pen pal like letters to a guy at a book store. Will this mystery man be her knight in shining armour? Or will Ryan wake up? Read this book to find out! I loved it!

This fourth book of the Sugartree Romance series is my favorite! Ginny and Ryan and their mutual pining are written so well, and I really felt for both of them (especially Ginny)! I loved the mysterious letters in the music store and was on the edge of my seat for the characters to find out who the letter writers were. The whole Remillard family and extensions were fantastic in their support for Ginny. And I loved all the hilarious moments and references and the crazy socks!

I loved meeting the Remillard family and all the sweetness of Sugartree. I was a little annoyed with Ryan for approximately 75% of the book but he redeemed himself in the last quarter. I like how Ryan and Virginia were able to build a friendship and relationship together. Overall, this was a sweet read and I enjoy reading BR Goodwin’s books. She has a way of reminding the reader of what’s truly important in life. 🩷

I’m so bummed that I didn’t like this book as much as the others in the series. I felt so bad for Ginny and how Ryan was treating her. I kinda wish that Melody Man was someone else that she could start a new relationship with and not one that would play with her emotions. I’m obviously happy that everything worked out but this still wasn’t my favorite in the series. I loved Caroline’s story the most.

Oh, Ryan! Oh, Ginny! What took you so long?
I loved the family dynamics in this series. The entire family and friends truly love being around each other, giving back to the community, and having an overall great time.
