Rate this book
If you want something done right, sometimes you have to do it yourself.

After feeling betrayed by the judicial system, a circle of friends from a grief support group come together and devise a plan to administer true justice to those responsible for the deaths of their loved ones.

When Detectives John Filcher and Berg Anderson are thrust together once again, they promptly land a disturbing case involving a badly beaten body. The one victim rapidly turns into a series of murders. As the bodies continue to fall, the evidence points toward multiple suspects, and it becomes clear that the duo is dealing with a vigilante mob.

Will the Homicide Detectives from Foley's Eighth District find a connection between the dead men, or the unknown perpetrators, in order to bring the killings to an end? Or will the consortium outsmart the detectives and pull off the perfect murders?

Nathan Bush is the author of The Foley Chronicles: Files from the 8th District, what he calls faith-based crime, with an attitude. An edgy crime story series with a mixture of grit, humor, excitement, romance, and a touch of Christianity. He also writes The Foley Chronicles: Dark Side of Foley, a supplemental series to Files from the 8th District. His blog (Write Here, Write Now) is where he shares short stories in various genres, life ramblings, a few book reviews, and an occasional devotional, and some insight on life with a child on the Spectrum.

He has been writing since high school, where he was involved with the school newspaper and literary magazine but didn't publish his first full length novel until 2016. He currently has six books published in the Files from the 8th District series, as well as two novellas in The Dark Side of Foley series.

He has also begun writing songs for the “soundtrack” of the series, both in the country and Christian genres.

While he has yet to break into mainstream fandom, or received accolades or awards, he has written an article for Indie Authors Monthly (April 2018 issue), and short stories and a poem for the RAC Magazine.

He enjoys reading a variety of genres that includes sci-fi, fantasy, Christian fiction, true crime and mystery/thriller/crime. He also writes in many of these genres (mainly on his blog) but has found he prefers the crime niche over the others.

His goal in writing is simply to entertain his readers and to grow a loyal fan base to spread the word about his stories.

It’s been a while since the last installment in The Foley Chronicles, but let me tell you—it was worth the wait! My favorite character, John (seriously, how could he not be?), teams up with Berg—a definite work-in-progress who, let’s be honest, probably drives John a little crazy. This time, they’re up against a group of vigilantes from a grief support group dishing out their brand of justice for the loss of their loved ones.

The tension is palpable as John and Berg are pushed to their limits, racing to connect the dots before the killers strike again. Thankfully, the crack team of coroner and forensics starts pulling the puzzle pieces together—though unfortunately, the bodies are dropping just as quickly.

This series continues to impress me, even with its darker themes. The author always manages to weave the perfect balance of suspense and resolution, keeping me hooked to the very last page.
