Not bad!

Well done with a good mystery of who done it. Character work well together, the story held together from being to end. A great start to a good series.

An okay enough read

This a clean serial murder mystery. Clean as in no curse words or sex scenes (no romance at all for that matter) but the killings might be considered a little vivid by some.

The characters were okay but somehow didn't feel distinctive, as if they had a bit more fleshing out to be done. The convos also felt a little unnatural at times because of the word choice (though that might just be me).

In terms of the plot, I hate to add spoilers but over 80% of the book was them following leads that ultimately led nowhere until, by happenstance, they decide to do a Google search and end up figuring out who the killer is. Yup – a Google search.

In conclusion, it was a fine but not necessarily memorable read.

Predictable. Would have been better without the POV of the killer bc I knew from the start he would be an actor. Also, the main character has gotten lucky too many times, the plot armor is annoying tbh …. The ending ended too quickly, and idc about the description of pizza. Not enough time spent on the interaction between the ACTUAL killer and mc. I’m sorry but I feel like I could’ve written this better.. it’s also giving young adult writing with some vocabulary words thrown in.

This was very meh for me. I wanted to switch it up and read a murder mystery for a change but this was more police procedural imo. I knew who the killer was when the fmc interviewed the first suspect, and there really werent any surprises.

Shallow and simplistic

Read like it was AI generated. Poorly written, multiple plot holes and little procedure accuracy. Characters thin who make wild leaps of decisions. I would avoid this.

Scrolling through my Kindle trying to find something to read, I was in the mood for a thriller read, and what better than a freebie I scored from Amazon. Criminal Profiler Maggie has been called in as someone is killing in Hollywood and leaving bodies in public view, they are also replicating famous unsolved murders like the Black Dahlia case. The other reason why Maggie has come back to LA is that she is looking for her brother Cole. They haven't seen each other in years after he ended up getting into a bit of trouble, she hasn't given up and when one of their suspects mentions him, she looks like she has a lead. Maggie has to be careful though as no one from the FBI knows about her past and her brother. What will happen though when Maggie catches wind of the identity of the killer and ends up on his tail? Will she be his last victim or can Maggie catch the bad guy? Final Kill was a good thriller read, that holds your attention to the last page and reminds me of authors like Blake Pierce, Molly Black, and Ava Strong. I now look forward to reading more of Kate Bold's as I can't wait to get some scenes between Maggie and eventually her twin brother Cole as I am sure we are bound to see a story develop there.

TENSE

A great tense story that has the reader (me) gripped from the outset.

Agent Flight is not a unique character though as she has family demons that nobody else knows about as her twin brother has been missing for a long time and isn’t likely to be as straight and legal as she is, but it doesn’t stop her looking for him although she won’t let it get in the way of her work.

A serial killer is trying to destroy Hollywood with copycat murders of previous murders tat remain unsolved. Flight and her new partner are thrown together but the jury seems to be out on Flight as the crime profiler so she has a lot of people she needs to convince about her skills.

It’s not a particularly twisty tale but there’s not a lot for the agents to work on, but it doesn’t stop them from chasing down even the smallest clue.

I enjoyed the book and look forward to reading more from this author.

Maggie Flight is a profiler working for the California police department and one night she is called out to take a look at a young woman who has been sawn in half lengthways and is staged in a certain position close to the hollywood pavement of stars for actors. CTV footage shows a man dressed as a tramp pulling a heavy cart behind him disappearing and then reappearing still pulling the cart, but Maggie notices that it is lighter than when he arrived.

She and the man she has been partnered with Rodriguez find themselves searching for a serial killer as the days roll on he is targetting more people involved in the film world and staging them in different ways in different places. It's a bit of a cat and mouse game but they get their murderer in the end. I quite liked this pairing and will take a look at other books in this series.

Maggie is an agent for CBI and working as a profiler but has other motives as to why she is in law enforcement. As a killer is loose in Hollywood, Maggie and a new partner are called into help with the case. Will Maggie be able win over her boss and show her she brings something special to the investigation, will her history effect the way she investigates, will her history/family cause her to stumble and inhibit the investigation? Will the killer get away?
This was a short mystery thriller novel with a quick pace, small amount of world building, and some character development. i look forward to seeing if Kate Bold continues to build the world and expand the characters in both scope and development. i will be continuing this series.

this was a free download from amazon. it is a cookie cutter cop story that needs copy editing. it's the same story told over and over again as if the author used a standard outline and added a few not very unique details of her own. a good copy editor may have been able to weed out some of the really stupid things that the author wrote including what the role of a medical examiner is at a crime scene. there were a few other just plain stupid things that the author spent time going into in detail. overall, it was ok and it was free. the writing was good. i wouldn't be interested in paying to read the next one in this series.

Captivating drama

When CBI agent, Maggie Flight, is assigned, as a profiler, to a murder investigation in Hollywood, then begins an intense and captivating drama which turns in to a hunt for an, apparently invisible, chameleon type, killer. What is the motive for the killings and why are they staged in such outlandish situations? Can Maggie and her partner discover what is going on before more deaths occur. Can Maggie get into the mind, or profile, of the audacious killer before there is opportunity to reoffend.

Final Kill

Wow! Very well done. This book had me on edge, guessing and guessing who the killer was. I was only ½ correct in my assumptions, but the pace of this book kept me hungry for more and more. I didn't want to quit reading. If you like crime novels and thrillers, this is one for you. It is book one in a series, so, I recommend you start here. I'm looking forward to seeing what agent Maggie Flight does next - she has some unsolved business herself. Go ahead. Read it!

Profiling at its best

Maggie and Jamie, FBI agents who had never worked together before, get called to Hollywood to solve a murder on THE WALK OF FAME.
Although the story line is pretty straight forward, the manner in which the two work is amazing since it was their first time together.

The author managed to give the subjects depth and purpose. I found it well written and enjoyed it very much.

I really enjoyed it. I recommend anybody to start with this series. Kate bold is a fine writer. I read some of her other books and they’re all good.

Fast-paced action. Keen observations lead the 2 main characters chasing a serial murder getting closer and closer, yet something just doesn't seem right with them when everyone else is content to call it good. There's a few things I didn't care for, but the overall book outweighs the small negatives.

JUST OK

Storyline was strong, but it got mired in the middle of the story. Too much happening and not enough connection. Would have liked a smoother transition into each new chapter.

2.5 ⭐️ rounded up. This was okay for a Kindle freebie. The ending felt really rushed, though. Character development felt limited, and the unfinished subplot was a bit annoying - maybe that comes up again later in the series though.

When I turned the page at the end, I kind of got the annoyance that I had when I finished Onyx Storm. Like, where’s the rest of it??? This was an entertaining and quick read. A good “whodunit” if you must.

Maggie Flight is an FBI profiler skilled in investigations of serial killers. Hollywood's unsolved murders are being displayed by the latest. Can Maggie renew her reputation by solving this mystery? Fast read, strong characters. I rate this a 4.8

good for a kindle freebie. very quick read and kept me interested. (spoiler… maybe??) was kind of bummed that all they did was a google search to find the killer but the crime scenes & getting to know Maggie & Jamie was a good start to the series

Final Kill

Excellent Good guys and bad guys! Great situations for exploration. Maggie is still at a standstill on her twin. No clues on who the culprit was. Maggie and her partner make a great duo.

I got this on Bookbub as a freebie and stopped reading it after a bit. I ought to be a profiler, I figured it out. Then I went back to it and started reading it again and got into the story proper, reading about their failed logic and the wrong arrest and it was a good story.

Just not my cup of tea, unfortunately. Not an awful story by any means, but I just found it dull and a struggle to get through at times. And the ending was very rushed.
