~ A beautifully descriptive short story in Spanish (also available in English). ~

There was a horse I admired this much as a child... completely different circumstances but because of the vague connection and great bilingual writing, this story really sang to me.
"Mi caballo mago" is a great coming of age story that highlights the cultural and social expectations a Chicano youth placed on himself in 1950s New Mexico. It was a great read, very touching and... it's now available in a bilingual English-Spanish version in this collection of short stories. https://www.goodreads.com/book/show/1...

Also, there is a great short video on Youtube called The Writings of Sabine Ulibarri from New Mexico PBS that is really worth watching if you want to understand the social and cultural aspects of the writer. He is a gem who clearly loved literature and teaching it.
