“And may your whole spirit, soul, and body be kept sound and blameless at the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ.” - 1 Thess. 5:23b

Made me think deeply, wrestle with the past, & thank God for His redeeming power that has saved my life! All I could ask for from a study — not to mention the great refresher I got on the order of Bible books thanks to how much Scripture jumping there is in this, it’s a perfect collection of the Word, both Old and New Testament

Am I biased?? Yes (duh)
Am I able to objectively spot a fantastic Bible study when I see one?? Also yes

Constantly encouraged and inspired by my momma & grateful so many other people get to know her words too!!

I enjoyed the heart of this book and I feel genuinely bad about giving a bible study anything other than 5 stars. It is a rich, lengthy, detailed bible study with lots of theology. I have read a handful of other bible studies/books that touch on this same topic that resonated with me much more. I just really struggled with this one.

More times than not, I was unclear on the questions being asked, not fully understanding what was actually being asked or what the question really meant. Additionally, as a full-time working mother, I need my daily bible studies to be a little shorter. Some days there were 8+ pages of reading, not including whatever reading needed to be done out of the Bible. I would love to have more time to spend in God's word, but given my current lifestyle, I found the length of many days to be too long. I also couldn't always understand the connection with the scriptural tie-ins and the topic being discussed.

Not everything is going to "click" with everyone, so I wouldn't completely discount this bible study, especially if you have a lot of time to really dig in. Plus, it just might resonate more with you than it did with me.

Reading Body & Soul was a deeply eye-opening experience. I learned that I have been created Imago Dei, in the image of God, and that my body is not a problem to be fixed, but a place in which the Holy Spirit dwells. This truth reshaped how I see myself and how I understand what it means to honor God with my whole being.

The book helped me move from viewing my body through a lens of criticism to seeing it as something sacred, purposeful, and beloved by the Creator. I now recognize that caring for my body is not vanity or selfishness, but an act of worship and gratitude.

Above all, Body & Soul reminded me that my highest priority is to glorify God — not just in my thoughts or words, but in every part of who I am.

I'm really struggling to write a review of this, because I don't want to critique a Bible teacher whose writing I have learned so much from in the past. Honestly I struggled to make some of the theological connections she made and it left me with more questions than answers. I found myself wanting to sit down and have an honest conversation with her to find out what she meant by some of the things said. I went into this study with high hopes, but it lacked any practical guides of how to implement changes to your thought patterns. I know she said she was going to get real and vulnerable, but I guess we have very different definitions of what real and vulnerable are. It felt very guarded and scripted to me.

This is a very thorough book, and it takes about 20-40mins to read each day’s piece as it is written in a devotional format. It really is a “reset” if you have bad patterns of thinking concerning your body, your weight, your circumstances and your appearance. The information is not new if you have been in Christian circles. However, it is packaged well, creates an intentional reflection and deep dive into scripture concerning strongholds of thoughts/patterns that are damaging. I like how she uses neuroscience and biblical principles to help the reader forge a new path of thinking, being and behaving.

The videos that are accessible through the link in the back of the book are good - Lisa is open and honest and encouraging.

Give yourself space and time to process what is written here.

This is an excellent resource. Lisa Whittle carefully explains from Scripture the beauty of living life for God's glory with every aspect of ourselves - body and soul. This book helped me to ground my mind and heart more securely in the importance of Imago Dei, the incarnation of Christ, the Body of Christ, and what all of these biblical concepts have to do with me and how I function in the body God made for me. I am continually amazed as I am reminded that nothing is random in God's eyes. This is a message that women in the Church need to study so that we can all truly live for God's glory!

I cannot rave about this Bible study enough...I have had a rough time with my body that last couple of months. The Lord brought some healing to me in my relationship with my body, through this study. This has changed how I see the mind, body, and soul connection. God is so good!
