Short but hit all the right buttons!

Amelia is a doctor with the US Space Force, but she's unhappy. She joined believing she would be going to space, colonizing new planets, and furthering mankind's future. Instead, she's been stuck in a military hospital stateside, languishing. Just as she's about to resign her commission, Oren arrives.

Commander Oren Ka’Ress is a Taurean intelligence officer who has crashed on Earth with a prisoner, a dangerous one that once he escapes, will hold devastating repercussions for Earth. Captured by the Space Force and injured, he lands in Amelia's hospital ward under lock and chain. They can't understand each other but Amelia has enough sense to know something isn't right and there begins the story. Believable "first contact" short story with just the right amount of attraction/heat to keep you reading.

Freeing Her Alien Warrior is a short story / series prequel to Melody Beckett's A Taurean Warriors Series. While short it still managed to be a complete story in the couple of hours it took me to read it and it gave me all the feels along the way. I really liked where the author ended the story in that I had a happy for now but the promise of more to come. I understand from reading the back matter of the book that the plan is for this story to be serialized. If Beckett ends each installment with a happy for now then that would suit me as a reader, certainly I really enjoyed the glimpse into this series and how action-packed this story was.

The male alien warrior in this story is definitely of the hawt variety but showed a willingness to be vulnerable and lean (quite literally at one point) on the smart female doctor. I liked several things about this story but one of the main things was that the female main character didn't fall to pieces when extraordinary things happened around her and indeed she was the one saving both herself and the warrior - nice role reversal.

So I was expecting some hot hot spice with this, BUT I can see what the plan is. I enjoyed it as a quick read and it definitely was written to build on a much bigger world that I'm excited to read about! (It is a prequel after all)

I think the tension build was there and I want MORE! I do hope to get more of their story, the soft heart FMC who just takes a world/Life changing situation and just rides it!

I received this as an ARC for my honest opinions. I give it a 3.8! (Because I felt like it dropped off and I was hoping for some spice) The writing was great though and I'm down to keep reading about this world (in space).

This was a super fast read, but it definitely did its job. I was hooked by the end, less than 100 pages and I was committed to this series. Really nice world building and the tension is palpable in many scenes. Loved it!

This prequel starts what I imagine will be a new series of alien smut 😉
This book sets the premise of whats to come of humans and the Taureans.
This small book follows Oren crash landing onto Earth with an enemy species in its cargo. Oren is disoriented and taken to a military base hospital.
Amelia, a doctor who has only dreamed of leaving Earth and doing something more for her planet is in charge of Orens care.
Together they work together to help Oren get out of his predicament. Though Amelia cant understand him, he understands her perfectly. The tension between them is palpable, the long stares and spark inducing touches shows so much promise for this couple.
They have to work together to stop potential threats and this proves their species can be allies. This kicks off the project of working together to help the humans find more suitable planet as Earth is dying.
I cannot wait for the next book in this series as I am desperate to know what happens between Amelia and Oren.

This short story is a series prequel to the Taurean Warriors Series. While short it still managed to be a complete story, with all the action and adventure in a longer story. With the interaction and chemistry between the characters being entertaining. I can't wait for more from this author. I received this book 📚, as a FREE copy to read and I voluntarily leave this review.

Alien Attraction

Loved this short story. I loved Oren and Amelia .. I was disappointed that they didn't have their whole story and you have to read another book before you get to theirs, which would be the third book in the series, I believe. this is why I gave it the 4 Star rating. Even Still I highly recommend the novella. Happy Reading!!!

Half a story...

Definitely only a set-up for a whole story, even if it was pretty well done... except that I will NEVER accept "alright" as a legitimate word. Look it up and see it redirects you to ALL RIGHT. Why is this ignorance so prevalent lately?! 😣

Reads like it should be a few chapters from a longer book, there’s an open ending that leads to another “book” and gives 0 closure

Eh 2.5 stars

If it had been longer than a novella, I'm fairly certain i would not have finished it. It's silly and sophmoric, but not awful.

My Rating: ★★★★☆

Melody Beckett's "Alien Attraction" delivers an exciting blend of sci-fi and romance, creating a story that's both thrilling and heartwarming. Dr. Amelia O'Malley doesn't believe in aliens—until a mysterious patient lands on her ward, turning her world upside down.

Commander Oren Ka’Ress crash-lands on a primitive planet and, injured, gets captured alongside his dangerous Xakul prisoner. With no way to contact his fellow Taureans, Oren finds himself in a dire situation. Enter Dr. Amelia O’Malley, who is stunned by Oren's inhumanly large build and bright eyes. Her disbelief in extraterrestrial life is challenged as she strives to understand him and help with his predicament.

The relationship between Amelia and Oren is the novella's highlight. Their chemistry is immediate and intense, with Oren's warrior nature complementing Amelia’s compassion and intelligence. As their connection deepens, the looming Xakul threat and the challenges of communication create tension and urgency, keeping readers on edge.

Beckett’s writing style is engaging and vivid, drawing readers into the futuristic, perilous setting. The story balances romance and action, with a perfectly timed pacing that keeps readers hooked from start to finish. The interaction between Amelia and Oren is compelling and adds depth to their evolving relationship.

"Alien Attraction" is more than just a sci-fi romance; it's a story of discovery and the courage to face the unknown. Beckett skillfully handles these themes, making the novella both enjoyable and emotionally satisfying.

In conclusion, "Alien Attraction" is a captivating novella that blends romance, action, and emotional growth. Melody Beckett has crafted a delightful story that promises more excitement in the Taurean Warriors series. If you're seeking a quick, thrilling read with heart and substance, this book is a must-read.

👽 “Amelia, I have a feeling this won’t be the last time I see you.”
~~~
I loved Amelia! She’s so caring and compassionate. And she’s so dedicated to her medical work. I loved that she was treating her patients equally - human or alien. And she’s so, so brave.
And Commander Oren Ka’Ress is the perfect match for her! He’s strong, honorable and protective. I liked him so much!
Oren and Amelia had such great chemistry and faced quite the danger. And they were such an awesome team.
I loved everything that happened in this short novella and I’m excited to see how their story will continue!
It was OK. It's a short story, so not a lot of character development; some world building, and some good action scenes. But I just can't believe these two had any sexual chemistry, the story wasn't long enough. And the ending... the author just says they get a happy ending, but apparently we don't get to read about it...
It was just Meh for me.
Of course the alien is just a slightly taller, more muscular version of humans, but with, of course, piercing blue eyes.
I felt no attraction between the two MC, and the story fell quite flat.
Will not be picking up the second book
Quite short, leaving little room for character development. I was underwhelmed by the heroine and the monster. No steam, just attraction -- clearly it'll develop in future books.
