Felix McAvoy is having an identity crisis. No longer the bad boy of art college, he’s now employed as a human billboard, roaming the centre of Bath dressed as a Roman soldier while attempting to fight off his nicotine cravings. It’s a come down for the former conceptual artist, although there are compensations to the costume. The skirt, for one…
While Felix hasn’t made a secret of his desire to wear women’s clothing, he’s never dared try it until now. He’s always been worried once he goes down that road, he won’t want to come back, and the prospect of cross-dressing 24/7 terrifies him. Of course, he can’t tell that to Andrew, who’s now busy making Felix a slutty red dress.
Andrew Wheeler loves coming home to Felix and their cosy city centre flat. He just wishes Felix would let him know what’s bothering him; maybe then Andrew could confide what he really wants. Felix might not see him as anything other than a top, but Andrew’s yearning to switch things up.
Living together is one thing. Actually plucking up the courage to talk about their secret desires is going to be a whole other—and excruciatingly embarrassing—kettle of fish.
English through and through, Josephine Myles is addicted to tea and busy cultivating a reputation for eccentricity. She writes gay erotica and romance, but finds the erotica keeps cuddling up to the romance, and the romance keeps corrupting the erotica. She blames her rebellious muse but he never listens to her anyway, no matter how much she threatens him with a big stick. She's beginning to suspect he enjoys it.

Note to readers: I don't read reviews of my stories on here anymore, as I think they're geared for other readers, not the writers (plus I'm chicken and would rather stick my fingers in my ears going "la-la-la"). If you'd like to let me know what you thought about any of my stories, please PM me or send me an email. I'd be very happy to hear from you :)
Low on the angst, high on the steam; manties (and other pretty, lacey things) included.
Andrew and Felix have to figure out how to pay the rent while following their dreams. Andrew worries he won't be enough for Felix if he doesn't bottom, and Felix keeps secrets from his boyfriend. But not for long.
The ending is a pretty solid HEA, but I'd read more about these two.
Jo Myles always delivers sweet, humorous, steamy stories that are properly British to boot.
I hate the trend of British authors in the genre dumbing down authentic language for an American audience. Kudos to Jo for staying true.
This was the book that almost never made it. A sequel to Tailor Made, which has been delayed time and time again by big life changes--try getting divorced, meeting someone new, having a baby and moving house twice, all crammed in the space of three years!
I hope you enjoy the continuing adventures of Felix and Andrew. This is a smutty romantic comedy featuring a young couple blundering their way through making a life together, while also exploring their clothing kinks...
It doesn't get much better than when two beloved characters can get their kinks to line up like stars and the author really delivered in the follow up to Tailor Made.
Full review soon on the blog and then here on GR.
**a copy of this story was provided for an honest review**
When I finished the first book, it ended on a note perfect for an epilogue. Namely, Andrew finally making Felix the red dress. When I saw this was going to be the focal point of the second book, I was pleased if a little miffed that all of this wasn't in one book.
After Andrew and Felix meet in Tailor Made, they eventually realize they're meant to be together and so move in and start figuring out their future together.
Custom Fit explores their growing pains as a cohabiting couple. Andrew is broke, still a student and working part time in a coffeeshop. Felix is working as a walking billboard who gets sexually harassed by customers who want to feel up the legs of a Roman Centurion... Or at least, a cosplaying one. It bothered me that he didn't quit his job there because one thing Felix isn't is someone who takes anything lying down. Eventually we get a drawn out secret keeping endeavor where Felix tries to obscure the truth from Andrew. I found it irritating because I knew it would inevitably lead to Felix confessing or getting caught. I'd have preferred to have a fight, a big blow out then reconciliation. Yes, this is one instance I'd have preferred that trope. I was also hoping to experience a lot more of Bath as the book kept telling me how unique and scenic a city it is. Sadly I wasn't feeling the Bath. And in general, I wasn't feeling this second part either.
I almost always adore an established couple in my books. Part of the allure is they have sealed the bond beforehand and we get into the deeper and tougher tests of their love. We push them to their limits, find their buttons and hope they survive holding hands on the other side. Typically the challenges are unforgiving and the sex is in abundance. Felix and Andrew have only been together for a few months but haven’t wasted any time on commitment levels. They moved into together and to gain the benefit of living alone they are pinching pennies. Student years are packed with cheap food, unreasonable work hours and the freedom of a limitless sky. Factor in a brand spanking new relationship and the stress levels are bound to rise.
Felix and Andrew are learning how to be together. They are smitten and eager to make sacrifices to bring joy to their home. Felix has been accustom to living carefree until now and is adjusting to the pressures of bringing in a steady income. Andrew is determined to push through uni without acquiring a hefty debt. Long days of meaningless work are slowly snuffing the light from Felix’s’ eyes. Andrew is aware that Felix is unhappy with his job but can’t find another solution. He figures they both need to square their shoulders and push on through, it won’t last forever.
But the dreary job is only one of the things troubling Felix.
He has a secret and he’s yet to find the courage to admit it to himself, let alone Andrew. He knows he can trust Andrew but everything is still so new and tender and what if he ruins it all? Better to keep this a secret until he’s certain. He just can’t risk it. But he forgets the golden rule of honesty. If you tell one lie, it leads to another and yet another until you are surrounded by a circle of untruths. How can he stop the chain reaction and when he finally does, will it be too late?
What's to like: More Felix and Andrew! Their stress and anxiety increases tenfold but they still have fun and are extremely sweet on each other. I enjoyed the return of old friends and the addition of new friends. And I always enjoy the sprinkling of Jo's British touch.
What's to love: First and foremost, I loved their affection and adoration for one another. They are seeing hearts and walking a few inches off the ground, it's too cute! Then, the arts were so vivid and bright they burned brightly behind my eyelids when I closed them. I could see the gorgeous dress, feel the delicate lace and smell the oils on the canvas. The designs both men create blew me away. I would love to see the inspiration behind the pieces and eagerly await anything additional Jo might have hidden away. Another beautiful component of this story was the self discovery we witness. It was so...honest despite the fibs. Felix battled with himself and struggled to accept what he desired. He has always been comfortable and confident in his own skin. Why can't he admit his appreciation and longing for women's clothing? What does this make him? Could he be transgender? What if Andrew doesn't follow his desires? He needs Andrew more than he needs lingerie. But will he lose part of himself if he refuses to acknowledge another part? I found this aspect of the story extremely well done. Bravo!
Beware of: Lots of hot sex but is that truly a bad thing? I'm thinking...no.
This book is for: It's a solid sequel and should be treated as such. Please read book one first and with the smashing steal of a deal, why not?
This was even more enjoyable than book one. Andrew and Felix are now living together and Felix is balking at having to work to make ends meet. Not used to watching every penny, he's stuck in a job as a living billboard, as he roams the streets of bath in a Roman gladiator outfit. The only plus, in his opinion, is that he wears a skirt. Yes, Felix has a secret. He wants to wear women's clothing, maybe not all the time, and maybe not out in public, but as the story progresses, he firms his commitment to at least trying a nightie.
And then Andrew asks him if he can make a dress for Felix from some beautiful fabric he's received from a friend. Andrew will use it as a school project and he secretly can't wait to see Felix wear it. Unfortunately, the men don't fully communicate their secret desires to one another. And that continues when Felix is offered a chance to show his art at a galley exhibition. He needs to quit his full time job to prepare for the show which will feature a self-portrait in the nightie and will allow him an opportunity to wear the red dress in public.
Consequences of the deception aren't pretty and though he fears he's going to lose Andrew, he finally confesses what's going on.
I really enjoyed book one, but I had no idea book two was going to feature cross-dressing as much as it did, or I would have been on this the day after I finished the first one. I love the storyline here and Felix is the perfect character to carry off wearing that dress that Andrew so skillfully crafted for him without going all the way with makeup, waxing, and accessorizing as a woman.
I highly recommend this series as both characters are well worth meeting.
Custom Fit is the sequel to the fabulous Tailor Made, where we first meet Andrew and Felix. I adored that book and loved the juxtaposition of the care free, man-slut Felix with the more shy, reserved, virginal Andrew. And even more when we realize that there is a lot more substance to Felix than he first lets on, and that Andrew has a down and dirty side that he begins to let out with Felix. This book picks up shortly after the guys have made things official and moved in together. I think Myles does a good job giving you the background on that story, so you could jump right into this book. But honestly, I adored that one, and if you like slutty boys, virgin heroes, and some cross dressing, I would tell you to grab Tailor Made first for sure.
The first book came out a while ago (at least its original version, it has since been re-released) so I was excited to see a follow up story for Felix and Andrew. I loved them together and enjoyed reconnecting with them here. We still can see many of the same traits as before. Felix is much more easy going, more wiling to take things as they come, while Andrew is more regimented and uptight. Both guys are trying to settle into more of an adult life, to take on responsibilities they don’t necessarily want. It is a bit harder for Felix, who isn’t quite as responsible as Andrew (fiscally or otherwise), but we can see that he is willing to sacrifice his own happiness for Andrew if need be. The guys are still fun together, sexy and playful, and a really enjoyable couple.
While these boys might have to learn about the power of communication, and despite the opposite way of looking at life -- Andrew is more uptight and so cautious about money while Felix is more willing to take chances -- but I thought they really truly fit with each other. When they do talk things out, they are adorable.
I liked that the problem written here was very, uhm, realistic, in terms of struggling with money and getting a job to make ends meet after one finishes college. About trying to reach your dream, do what you are most passionate about, but at the same time finding that you must sacrifice parts of it to get money.
So yeah, I really liked this, slightly better than the first story even (based on my rating, since I don't exactly re-read Tailor Made before starting this one, so I can't really remember the details)
Man these two... Felix and Andy-baby are back, and Felix is more weird and all-over the place and Andrew is more grown-up and concerned than ever.
This book takes place a few months after the first one. Felix and Andy-baby live together, Felix is done with Uni, and Andy-baby is on holiday working in a cafe until classes start up again. Felix has no clue what to do with his life, he's done a few self portraits, but doesn't use his education otherwise. He works as a 'roman soldier' on the streets of Bath trying to get foot-traffic to the shops. At the same time Felix is slowly trying to figure out his kinks. In book 1, Andy-baby promised to make Felix a dress, which woke something up in him. He's now gravitating towards lace and silky underwear; he simply cannot help himself (and he doesn't need to!) But how do you explain to your partner that you're having a kink? How do you let that partner know, that you need something that wasn't there before? In the first book it was Andy-baby struggling, and accepting that reality is sometimes better than fantasy. In this one, Felix is the one struggling... He wants to tell Andy-baby, and he tries, he really does, but opening up about something so personal, is not easy.
At the same time Felix is having issues being a grown-up in real life, he's not a student anymore who can JUST take student loans; now the loans need to be paid back! But the always conscientious Andy-baby gets him a part-time job at a hobby-shop and Felix also gets to showcase a few of his paintings in a local cafe. These paintings draw a local gallery owner to Felix and all of his dreams can come true, if he can just open up to Andy-baby and TALK to him... But Felix can't figure out how, and Andy-baby is getting worried, very worried.
I really liked this book! I thought it was a very nice addition and ending to the first one, though IMO it could have been ONE book. I loved the kinks, I loved the characters and I loved the growing-up aspect of this one. Even though it is wrapped in english humor and a 'fluffy' blurp, this one deals with some interesting subjects.
I was looking forward to visiting this pair again, and it was good to see them. They still need to communicate better, but if their two interests didn't just make them fit together even more, I don't know what would have.
I think that aspect could have been highlighted more - Andrew loves making (feminine) clothes, Felix likes wearing them. It just makes sense.
There's English humour, there's lack of communication, there's drag queens (& kings!), and there's a terrific happy-ever-after.
I read the first book in this series, Tailor Made, in 2013 so I feel I've been waiting forever to catch up with flirty Felix and sweet, shy Andrew. This was certainly worth the wait, a fabulous story, wonderful characters and of course, this is Josephine Myles, hot sex! Loved it! Can't recommend enough, would suggest reading the first in the series but it's not completely necessary <3
This is the continuation of the story of Felix and Andrew, a bad boy art student and a (formerly) uptight fashion student who met, clicked, fought and ultimately hit it off in Tailor Made. Our couple is now firmly together and living in a little flat and worrying about money. Andrew is still in school; Felix has gone mainstream and gotten a job advertising in a Roman gladiator suit. One thing I adored about these two is they are so playful with each other. Their attic apartment has no air conditioning and these boys are suffering in the heat. They make due by using a plant mister and have mister fights that turn sexy. It was the cutest. Or when they “dirty talk” and it’s so ridiculous. “Oh Studly McStudlington, do me good and proper with your big fat crotch sausage.” Again, it just was cute! The best part of the story for me was when they are alone together and being themselves, silly and endearing. It isn’t that simple, however. Andrew suffers from a lifetime of repression for who he is and so bottoming, well that is out of the question. Felix is so patient and accepting of this but Andrew really has a hard time. We also have Felix, who is keeping secrets from Andrew, both professionally and personally. He worries so much about what Andrew will think about his wanting to wear a dress or lingerie and he goes to great lengths to hide it. And so the difficulty begins, because Andrew is so worried about money and Felix is so busy hiding his secrets that the relationship has to suffer some. They do have sex, lots and lots of sex. “Felix kept going until it felt like his tongue was going to fall out.” Takes one for the team, our Felix. One thing I loved about Felix – even wearing a slutty red dress and lacy lingerie, he isn’t trying to be anything but himself. A man who happens to like wearing feminine clothing. He isn’t transgender (which he was worried about for a bit) and he isn’t a 24/7 cross-dresser (which he also worried about). He just likes the feel and the look of women’s clothes. Go Felix. For me, the story had most impact when it focused on how the two worked their relationship. I was angry at Felix at one point because he went through such lengths to hide his desire to try lingerie but eventually it became clear that he’s hiding it from Andrew as much as he’s terrified of himself and what it will mean. The professional part, well, I felt bad for Andrew with that one. Since we have a reformed man-whore and a reformed virgin, you knew things were going to take a little getting used to. These guys manage it without much angst or drama. There’s hot sex, awesome cuddling and a couple who like each other immensely. As did I.
It’s been over two years since I read Tailor Made the first book in this series that features the same MC’s. Catching up with Andrew and Felix was such good fun. Felix is just as flirty and flighty as ever whereas Andrew spends most of his time being very practical or as Felix sometimes thinks a little bit boring.
Now the boys are living together and Felix is no longer a student real life seems daunting and sometimes isn’t a lot of laughs. Rent, bills and a shortage of spare cash to do anything fun has Felix kind of bummed and the fact that his job requires him to dress like a Roman Soldier and parade around town isn’t helping matters.
For me this story was very much about Felix and his struggles to adjust as well as deal with who he actually was. As their relationship evolves things aren’t quite as steady as they believe and a small amount of dishonesty could have much larger ramifications. I think it’s a wakeup call to both of them that they need more than sex, and they do have some very hot sex, but they do need to communicate and be honest with each other as well. Felix has secrets that he feels embarrassed and afraid to share and Andrew has a fear of something personal that he has built up in his head to be far bigger than it eventually proves to be.
This was a brief interlude and catch up with two very funny characters. The author’s wit shines through once again and the story and the characters are so very British that it made me smile until the very end. You could just about get away with reading this as a standalone but if you start with book 1 you will get far more enjoyment and a lot of fun out of it.
I have to confess to a vested interest in this book. I fangirled Jo when I read Tailor Made with an email bombardment of sequel ideas/requests and then badgered her for three years until this book finally came into being.
Then she allowed me a sneak peek at the finished manuscript under the guise of beta reading. And a pre read of the finished copy.
Disclosure out of the way, now on with the review.
I've waited so long to spend more time with sexy sweet Andrew and flirty Felix. And it was definitely worth the wait. The boys are living together now and still madly in love but living together brings it's own challenges. Felix is flighty where Andrew is responsible. Felix has finished his degree and Andrew still has uni. Andrew worries Felix will get bored with him. And there's a little matter that Felix is discovering a passion for silk and lace against his skin... Custom Fit has a distinctive British flavour and of course all the wit and sexy times you'd expect from Jo Myles writing. I loved it.
After waiting such a long time for this sequesl, I think I was a little disappointed in it. I can't put my finger on it exactly but it just didn't live up to what I was expecting. The story wasn't particularly exciting.
To say I was delighted when I discovered Andrew and Felix from Tailor Made would make a second outing, would be a gross understatement. I had so much fun spending time with them in the first book that I couldn’t wait to see what might be in store for them next.
The blurb gives you a pretty good, and very enticing, idea of what the story is about. But it doesn’t tell you everything. This book is about far more than Felix coming to terms with his desire to wear women’s clothing and Andrew’s fear when it comes to bottoming. This is the story about two men learning how to be in a relationship together, discovering how to give and take, finding out what they can and can’t compromise on and, more than anything, finding the courage to trust that they are good enough for each other just and exactly as they are.
The journey they undertake towards that feeling of safety within their relationship is not without its obstacles. Felix, who’s breezed his way through college like a free spirit without a concern in the world, has a hard time coming to terms with the fact that sharing an flat and life means boring things like jobs with a fixed income and regular working hours. Andrew on the other hand is an expert when it comes to regulating his life and has to try and get his head around the fact that Felix is not as organised and money conscious as he is. And then there’s the fact that Andrew can’t convince himself that he might be good enough for Felix, as well as exactly the man Felix needs. Felix on the other hand isn’t sure Andrew will accept his desire to wear women’s clothing, basically because he hasn’t accepted it himself yet, and ends up keeping secrets from Andrew.
Anybody who’s followed my reviews will know that characters not talking to each other about important issues is one of my pet peeves. But in this book it works. Andrew and Felix are still so new to each other they just don’t feel safe enough to share their deepest thoughts and desires, or to press for answers. What’s more, any and all issues were dealt with in an adult and sensible way.
Before you think this book might be heavy reading, allow me to reassure you. Felix and Andrew are fun, the banter between them is smart and at times laugh-out-loud funny and together they made my kindle steam with their sexy times.
If you enjoy your stories well told, truly English, funny, and with depth I strongly advise you to pick up Tailor Made and Custom Fit. You won’t regret it.
"Help! I've been tied to the bedposts by a sex maniac. How am I ever going to get out of here with my virtue intact?"
FINALLY A NEW JOSEPHINE MYLES BOOK!!!
Oh my god, it's been AGES since the last one and I was having serious withdrawal pains.
In this second part to Tailor Made we get to know more about Andrew and Felix and their shenanigans as a new couple. But instead of Andrew's clothing kinks, now it's all about Felix's clothing kinks...
While that part of the book and this newfound side of Felix was truly appreciated, I didn't enjoy the sequel quite as much as the first book. I guess it's a "it's not you, it's me thing", because there wasn't anything wrong with the book, it's just... the thing with the secrets and misunderstandings and the following drama isn't reall my favorite trope in general. It wasn't done over the top or overly dramatic and all was resolved fairly un-dramatic – but I think Felix and Andrew could have spent their time with more enjoyable things ;-)
Anyway, now that I'm hooked on Josephine Myles again, I need mooooore. Dear Ms Myles, I know there's a lot going on in your life right now, but I sincerely beg you to squeeze in a few hours here and there in the near future for some writing. There has to be another new book soon. Because I need... the world needs! :-)
Reading Tailor Made series is as watching one show, a comedy, vibrant, freshly , sarcastic but also in someway intense and much sweet in the same time. Felix and Andrew live together, but it is very hard for them to reconcile bills and dreams . There are lies, secrets, hidden desires and exciting hopes but then love wins and there is happines for them and me that enjoyed very much their story.
Book two in this lovely series, Andrew and Felix are now living together, it's summer, college is out for a few months, and they are struggling to find work and make ends meet, but they are happy, they are in love, their future looks bright. But then Felix starts to keep secrets, Andrew can tell something is wrong but doesn't know what to do, things start getting tense, Felix is keeping one too many secrets. Oh, I lapped this up, such a wonderful story, I'm going to miss these two sweet, sweet men. I'm also going to read more of this amazing authors work.
For the longest time, I could not purchase this sequel on my kindle. I guess it was some sort of glitch. Anyways, I am so glad I was finally able too. This was a great follow up to Andrew and Felix`s relationship. They had some obstacles and insecurities to overcome.
Andrew was constantly worried about their finances as they barely made enough to get by. But with some luck, Felix is given a golden opportunity but involves risks. Also along the way Felix is having some inner turmoil over his identity.
Andrew is worried that he isn`t enough to keep Felix to himself since he fears bottoming. Communication is a bit rocky but in the end they get their happy ending.
Adorable, sweet, and oh so sexy :) Communication issues that got resolved fairly quickly and didn't make me crazy...it is possible! Loved the vulnerability both MCs showed, and the playful sexy times that balanced it.
Good, sweet. I like Andrew and Felix as a couple. They both struggle with issues, and I wish to god that Felix and Andrew would just talk to each other instead of worrying and hiding. It does all work out, of course.
Happy to see these two lads further on in their relationship. Not everything runs smoothly for these two, which was refreshing to read. Some very understandable miscommunications and neuroses, but mainly it was nice to get some more time with these characters.
sweet, not a ton of depth, but enjoyable. Each character had a conflict I could sink my teeth into. It danced well with their relationship conflict. Well constructed story
