A very, very underestimated book, full of history and real facts, that sort of story which makes the average reader curious about what really happened in the past , so he/she could become a little bit smarter.
Perhaps one of the reasons is Mr. Kesten's non-English or American nationality, as the plot is quite interesting and the characters well built.

Aunque tiene problemas con el tiempo de la narración (a veces pasan muchas cosas en poco tiempo y otras el ritmo es lento) es una obra deliciosa. Destaca la magnífica descripción de un auto de fe.

Het taalgebruik was wel even wennen. Veel korte zinnen.
Het verhaal wordt geschreven alsof de schrijver er bij was en heel veel geschiedenis.
