She's not a karate expert. She can't pick a lock. And she certainly isn't a master of disguise...
But Riley is stubborn, and this is her city. She's not going down without a fight!
If you like fast-paced crime novels, and female characters who are strong, funny, and real, then you're going to love Kay Riley, a Chicago cop wrongly accused and on the run for her life.
Being a cop was never something that Riley was very good at. But now, as she must become a vigilante to clear her name, she finds new reserves of strength and courage, all with a healthy dose of sarcasm.
With her name and photo splashed across the nightly news, Riley should leave the city ASAP. Instead, she decides to stay undercover and track down the real killer.
But somebody knows that Riley is still in the game, and soon the police are the least of her worries as a sexy assassin starts closing in.
Can she become the hero the city needs without getting herself killed? Probably not...
Stephanie Andrews hopes her love of classic mysteries and thrillers, and her desire to show strong women as protagonists, comes through in her books about Kay Riley. Thanks for reading!
Read Kindle book using Alexa audio asset. Not believable cop story with explosive results, Female main character seems disconnected. Purchased this 3 book set edition on February 26, 2024
Refreshing & Fresh Storyline and vivid characters; a fun read by a young new author. A slice of life in the Chicago area with different plots and memorable characters.
Very good book from author Stephanie Andrews. Sometimes a little hard to believe some situations but I suppose with the right training, possibly OK. Still, I enjoyed this one one and had no problem finishing this book.
So much violence, sex trafficking, mafia types and Red is in the thick of it. Red has a rather frightening number of bad guys upset with her and through luck and stubbornness manages to triumph. She is also funny.
I enjoyed this book. I only wish that the author had taken the time to get the firearm terminology correct. A pistol takes a magazine. It does not take a clip or cartridge.
The book wasn't too bad, the first two were kids d of slow. But by the end of the third it was more Interesting and made you want to keep reading. Pretty good ending
A good action-filled plot and interesting humorous characters, but littered with spelling, typo and grammatical errors that were irritating and distracting. Find yourself a new proof reader/editor!
This is a new author for me. I was not disappointed. This series is so good. It is action packed, high energy with a great cast of characters. I will be reading the rest of this series.
The characters are just delightful. Red's monolog and dialog are filled with witty one- liners, malaprops, and twisted sayings. There is plenty of action!
Three connected mystery novels leading us through diastrous turns in life of former cop Red Riley. Vigilante crew starts at 2 people (Red, Ruby) then 3 (Ruby's nephew Marty) and 4 (cop who was sexually assaulted superior) Ellery Park-- plus Red's Uncle Elbort --? and his 'retired' crime crew.
'Chicago Blue' first book, sets all in motion. Red doing her job becomes scapegoat when situation 'blows up in her face'. Need to clear her name and take down bad guys. Second, 'Diamond White' continues where Blue ended, this time with twists and turns bringing a number of interesting actors who play important roles in #3, 'Gold xxxxx' where Red and company continue to right wrongs.
Well written, 'nonputdownable' stories. easier when I realized box set is one large book, which like Gaul, is divided into three parts. Good triumphs over evil tho some people have 'Black and Blue Badge of Courage'.
