This is the fourth in the Men of Syn series and what an explosive, powerful and compelling story it is.
Addison has had a hard life, but she has finally caught a break, she has met and fallen for a man who is going to take care of her and give her a dream job in a dream setting and she gets to be with him as well, she can hardly believe it’s true! Poor Addison, she felt like the biggest fool, it wasn’t true at all, everything was a lie, he was a lie, she is now nothing but a sex slave, beaten, abused and drugged until the one day she is brave enough to make her escape, she had called on her childhood friends Hawke, Caine and Lucian (all in previous Men of Syn books) for help escaping and protection, because she knew, if she was ever found not only would she be killed, anyone that she loved or cared about or helped her would be killed too. What she didn’t count on was running into Ryder again, their past was something she could never forget, for two reasons, how she felt about him and never felt like that about anyone, but what she had done to him and he would never forgive her, it makes her believe everything that has happened to her over the last almost 10 years, she deserved! Ryder tried to find out why she was there, tried to have her kicked out, his friends Hawke, Lucian and his cousin Caine all warned him off, told him to mind his own business, when he kept trying to push, they even threatened their friendship over keeping him away from what was happening with Addison.
Ryder finds where Addison is hidden and their interactions are explosive, she still won’t tell him why she is in Denver and she still doesn’t trust him, but they can’t keep their hands off each other, the lines are continually blurring, does he still hate her, can she trust him, why can’t she tell him so he can protect her, these questions are continuing to be pushed back and forward until she breaks and tells him part of it. Ryder is horrified and is determined to be the one to protect her.
This is a fast paced read with a well thought out storyline and incredibly well written characters that you can just wrap your arms around and thank goodness they get through it!
