In Washington, where everything is at stake, no one’s hands are clean, and nothing is ever as it seems.

Jaclyn Taylor’s life is curated to absolute perfection. Despite having secret political ambitions of her own, the only way the Washington darling will have a seat at the table is on the arm of a Senator, Vice President, or if she plays her cards right, as the wife of the next President of the United States.

Engaged to presidential hopeful Christopher Blake, everything is falling into place for Jaclyn. Until he doesn’t show up on their wedding day. Forced to either postpone or cancel the wedding, his twin brother offers to take Christopher’s place for the day, helping her save face and maintain her loveless arrangement.

Temporary. A charade. Smoke and mirrors.

Except for Alexander Blake, nothing about standing in for his missing brother is pretend. Even through the lies and deceit, he finds himself falling for the one woman he shouldn’t. But when Christopher reappears, ready to claim his place as Jaclyn’s husband, Jaclyn and Alexander face the difficult choice between love and politics.

About 4-5 chapters in I had already decided how I wanted this book to end….I just wasn’t sure how or even if it was going to happen….well no worries because I got my wish but with an ending I never saw coming….I love when I get what I want without knowing it’s going to happen

Jaclyn & Chris are the Washington DC power couple in the making….only one problem….Chris can’t keep it in his pants & Jaclyn is only going through the motions….both have a lot on the line & yet again Chris’ indiscretions has put a kink in all their best laid plains (no pun intended…well maybe)
In walks Alex, Chris’ almost identical brother, to save the day….one problem…there have always been feelings between Jaclyn & Alex but neither have acted on them….well until now….as a wedding stand in for his brother can Alex & Jaclyn behave themselves??? Will they finally act on the feelings they’ve had for each other since college??? Where was Chris & why wasn’t he at his own wedding??? & will Alex ever get caught as the wedding stand in for his brother??? Well you know what to do

I love their story….it shows how two siblings can be so different…how different a woman shines when she’s loved correctly…& how even a minor health issue can turn into something major over time
I’m ready for book two….we get a small glimpse at their life through out this book but things take a turn at the end for them also….& I can’t wait to see what all the future holds for Jaclyn & her husband

It went from romcom to thriller to murder mystery back to romcom to .. well I don’t even know but it was good!

A bit cliche but who doesn’t like a cliche?
It was lacking a bit of a red thread and felt rushed in parts but it was readable and a palette cleanser.

This intrigued e but it felt really rushed at the end and nonsensical in the middle. The storyline with the Gallaghers needed padding out more and a bit of political background for people who aren't American readers. Also we're alex and Chris twins as it never actually said

Okay

It wasn't all that, I feel like right as the story was developing it was just cut and then rushed to finish. Good read up until it started to rush to the end. It kinda left me with a lil confusion and some questions.

This was a super fun political romance. I haven’t read very many political romances but after this, I am a fan.

This author is hilarious and brings such a fun energy to her story and characters.

I love the dynamic between Jaclyn and Alex. Their banter is a whole vibe. I love that they have this witty back-and-forth but also stimulate each other emotionally, and well sexually.

For being twins, Chris and Alex couldn’t be more different. They have an angel/evil twin dynamic, and I don’t mean their political beliefs. Chris is a complete douche, but I loved the possessive jealousy that came over him when faced with losing Jaclyn- I need therapy, I’m aware.

The ending had me dying! I also cannot wait to read more about Ileah. I am so intrigued!

Low 3 stars.
This was kinda all over the place. It had an intriguing setup but then it just fell apart and the climax was super rushed for the amount of build up there was. Also, I hated the ending for Alex.

Political romance!?!?
Sure, why not...

Was I surprised and totally hooked? Yes.
I devoured this book so fast.

Jaclyn Taylor & Alex Blake were

🇺🇸 Moderate/Left leaning Political Romance
🇺🇸 Fake Marriage
🇺🇸 Opposites Attract
🇺🇸 Love Triangle
🇺🇸 Forced Proximity

This was my first political romance and also my first Irene Bahrd read, I will definitely be back for more and I cannot wait for the next book in her Love & Politics series.

“Educated, but not opinionated. Feminine, but not too delicate. Social, but always keeping secrets guarded.”

Jaclyn aspires to make her own mark in politics but knows that she will only be able to achieve that is on the arm of a Senator, Vice President, or as the wife of the POTUS.

Engaged to a presidential hopeful, she’s partly on her way, right? No. Guess who doesn’t make it to the wedding because he was in an accident? Her fiancé. No worries, his twin brother can step in and keep the appearances up, right? What could possibly go wrong with these two who crushed on each other back in college but parted ways...?

Wow! This book was so interesting!

It was a triangle of relationships but how she managed to sever the triangle for good was fascinating!

I loved Alex! Such a sweet man with a surly side and a DIRTY side lol

Chris redeemed himself by the gala but I still didn’t like him and Jaclyn together. They didn’t mesh after seeing her with Alex.

He could have been a fun character to toy with in another book though if she had written it in such a way that he could have been set aside for Jaclyn and Alex to be happy.

Alex and Jaclyn got to be together as they always wanted which is a good thing for sure!

This book had mafia tie ins and politics and love and friendship and unique family drama lol

I really enjoyed it!

This was an intriguing read. It just felt a bit rushed and disjointed to me. Jacklyn is supposed to have a strong backbone, yet she’s pretty easily influenced by those around her. Chris is just an all around jerk and I didn’t buy his change of heart for Jacklyn one little bit. Alex seemed to be the only one with consistent views, thoughts, opinions, and actions.

Arranged Vacancy (Love & Politics Book 1)
A Truly captivating audiobook exploration of love in the complex world of a woman and Man political career.
While the book showcases ambition greed, corruption and connections between the not so savory nature, there’s also a humorous side to this story as well and an ohhh so spicy one too!
✨♥️🤍💙✨
Brandon Francis and CJ Bloom did a fantastic job bringing forth all these characters and making them feel so relatable to those in the real world ( yeah know it’s fictional but this plot kinda makes you go huh?)
But whenever I listen to CJ Bloom I know I will be getting a few chuckles in from her way of delivering those humorous moments while the situation seems tense, and right along with her doing a great job as well is Brandon Francis who made a perfect illustration of the story!
Yeah they were perfect on this Audiobook.

✨♥️🤍💙✨
With its spicy storyline and well-drawn characters, this novel is a must- read / listen for those who love a romance filled with a bit mystery and complexity, where it takes you on journey where nothing is as it seems, and where the heart’s desires battle fiercely against the darkness of political life.

Christopher’s twin brother, Alexander, Had to step in and save the day, and so begins as the situation quickly morphs into a heartfelt connection that challenges everything Jaclyn thought she ever knew and wanted.
The chemistry between Jaclyn Taylor and Alexander Blake blazed with an intensity that has me rooting for their love amid the endless chaos of political scheming and family drama surrounding their lives.
But this also makes me questioning everything that happened in this story ….. I have so many questions.. as the story was told in a three way POV of Alex Jaclyn and Chris.. sooo many questions.
I just believe there could be so much more to this story.

All on a page turner for sure this story is..
this is my first book by this author and I believe it won’t be my last !

Beautiful cover and amazingly good story with an incredible perspective performed by the talented and engaging
CJ Bloom and Brandon Francis !

Arranged Vacancy opens with Jaclyn (daughter of a former President) preparing to walk down the aisle to marry Christopher (son of a different former President) in what can only be described as a political arranged marriage. He doesn't show up because he's a terrible person (you'll find out exactly what he was doing soon) and his twin brother Alex steps in to save the day.

Alex and Jaclyn have a bit of star-crossed history but she froze him out because her parents didn't approve of her being associated with someone who switched parties and ran for office as a moderate. It seems like practically everyone has Presidential aspirations, including Jaclyn but she's resigned herself to helping Chris make it to the Oval office and perhaps running for office herself at some point in the future. It's really too bad Chris is a horrible human and I disliked him from the start.

So Chris and Jaclyn are married on paper, Jaclyn and Alex are married before the church and all in attendance, and to keep up the charade, Alex accompanies her on the Hawaiian honeymoon. Old feelings ignite, and as a reader, I loved Alex even more for the way he encouraged her to chase her political dreams.

But no good story is without some bumps along the way, and Chris is determined to keep his brother from being with Jaclyn (I never buy that he cares about her the way Alex does). Trapped in an impossible situation, Jaclyn has to choose between the life she wants and protecting the political lives of everyone around her.

Alex is officially my new favorite MMC from this author (and the competition is stiff, let me tell you). He tries so hard to resist his reemerging feelings for Jaclyn, but likes calling her "my wife" a little too much to keep his distance.

The spice is SO good, Alex has a mouth on him in all the good ways, and I felt for Jaclyn being trapped between duty and desire. There are some great plot twists that I didn't fully expect but was completely on board with. I'm very excited to get the special edition copy of this book in a few weeks.

This book contains politics, but the moral of the story is neither party is without skeletons and often politicians are terrible people and don't represent their constituents. If there's any political leanings, I'd say it's for moderates who listen to what their voters are asking for; neither American political party is named in this book, and although both families are heavily involved in DC dealings, at its heart, the book is a romance. It just happens to be set in a political world.

I read an advance copy of this book - many thanks to Irene for the gifted copy

Arranged Vacancy is the first book in Bahrd's new Love & Politics series. This forced proximity, second chance romance with a political twist features Jaclyn Taylor, the daughter of a former US president. She is supposed to wed Senator Christopher (Chris) Blake in a marriage of convenience arranged by their parents. The Taylor name means something, and having her on his arm is the next step to getting him elected as a future president. Jaclyn has political ambitions as well, but knows all too well that she needs to play the game if she wants to get there.

On the day of their wedding, Chris doesn't show up. His twin brother Alexander (Alex) won't say why, but offers to stand in and pretend to be Chris until he can resume his place by her side. Alex is everything Chris is not, and Jaclyn finds herself wishing this was real. When Chris shows up, it might already be too late. Neither Alex nor Jaclyn were planning to fall, but... Jaclyn will have to make a choice between duty and desire.

I have read many of Bahrd's books and I must say that this one is her best one yet! I'm not an avid reader of books with a political component, but this one quickly captured my attention and did not let go. I loved the dynamic between the characters, and of course the heat. It wouldn't be a Bahrd book without spice. As much as I hated Chris, I loved Alex. Jaclyn feels free to be herself and speak her mind when she is with Alex. He is possessive without being controlling. He challenges her, believes in her, and encourages her. When she is with Chris, she is meek and subservient, being sure to remain in the background while helping Chris shine; she deserves so much better.

I enjoyed this one so much that I was hoping there might be more to come. When I reached the end, I found out my wishes were granted! Absolute Majority is coming next and will be Ileah's (Jaclyn's best friend) story. I am quite eager to check that one out.

Irene Bahrd is a new author to me, but I was extremely intrigued by the blurb and that it’s the first book in a series. And I prefer to read series over a standalone. I like to really get to know my characters, their friends and family and their stories. Well this story focuses on Jaclyn and twin brothers Alex and Chris. The three of them have known each other for a long time in fact Jaclyn and Alex went to the same college. Their fathers were both presidents of the United States and they are a true die hard political family. Jaclyn and Alex were good friends and there were definitely some vibes between them but Alex leaned on the wrong side of the issues and Jaclyn felt that she needed to avoid him, so she did. Years later she’s all set to marry Chris he, has the same political leanings as her father and he is destined to be the next president and Jaclyn has her own aspirations. But Chris her fiancé gets into a horrible accident on the wedding day and is in the hospital and in order not to humiliate or embarrass their families Alex must marry Jaclyn. Poor Alex who is definitely a nicer, more pleasant version of Chris is in love with Jaclyn. This is his worst nightmare being with her and pretending to be married. As if things aren’t bad enough Alex is forced to go on the honeymoon too and pretend to be Chris. I enjoyed the story immensely but I got a little tired of Jaclyn she was such a weak, timid girl who let her father and her in-laws lead her by her nose into a marriage where she was never going to be loved or cherished and she knew this but she refused to give in. As an avid reader who’s being reading romance books for over 40 years I like my MFC to be tough, self sufficient, confident women and Jaclyn just really annoyed me. This is a great book, interesting story with some surprises and twists I’ll eagerly look forward to the next book about Jaclyn’s friend Ileah.

Jaclyn Taylor grew up in politics, and she knows the lay of the land. She also knows the only way she's going to make a name for herself is to be married to the next president. That's why she's marrying Christopher Blake. Things are going perfectly until he's a no-show on their wedding day. Then his twin brother Alexander offers to step in and play Christopher for the day so the wedding can go on. For Alex, stepping in as Chris is easy. He doesn’t have to pretend to be in love with Jaclyn because he still is. When one day turns into multiple days of pretend, things start to feel real between Jaclyn and Alex. When Christopher shows up and is ready to reclaim Jaclyn as his wife, Jaclyn has to decide what it is that she wants. Love or politics

Arranged Vacancy was such a great political romance read. My interest was immediately piqued when Chris missed his wedding for some big mysterious reason that needed "cleaning up." Once I knew there were dirty politicians involved, I knew this one was going to be good read. Then the fact that his twin stood in for his wedding and honeymoon to make sure that Jaclyn was taken care of, total swoon-worthy moment. Then there's Jaclyn, who annoyed me a bit, stuck choosing between her heart and her career and two very different brothers. Does she choose the brother who was once her best friend, who's now back into her life, and is once again bringing her happiness. Or does she choose the brother who is the means to an end, who doesn't make her happy, and is using her as much as she's using him? Can I say how much I loved Alex's character and how much he cared and doted on Jaclyn? And that ending? What?!? Plus the bonus epilogue!!! I can't even. I'm shocked on both accounts.

"'Your only flaw is that you were born for greatness but are settling for less than you deserve.'"
This is such a surprising story from Irene since it departs from her usual “parody” style, but I really liked it! When she told us her newest series would be a contemporary romance with a political twist, I genuinely didn’t know what to expect. So consider me pleasantly shocked when the story began to mirror the current political election in the U.S. Whether Irene can predict the future or not, I always appreciate a MMC who admires the FMC so much, he’s genuinely supportive of her having more political power than him. It’s the ultimate definition of an equal partner & we LOVE THAT!
"'The game has changed, my little wife; this isn't pretend anymore. I know you feel this between us. You're mine as much as I'm yours. I'm not going to stand by and be happy that you're on my brother's arm. Because in the end, you know it'll be you and me.'"
But even if you aren’t a huge political nerd like I am, you’re sure to like this story between its plethora of “my wife” statements or the mysterious “family donations” to campaigns (hint, hint; wink, wink) in an effort to sway candidates.
"We've all been meticulous about out public personas to ensure we'd be the picturesque wives to Senators and Governors. Educated, but not opinionated. Feminine, but not too delicate. Social, but always keeping secrets guarded."
This book feels inspired by women like Hillary Clinton with a dash of Shonda Rimes' Scandal (but not as dramatic... yet) & somewhat mirroring the current political climate. However, underneath all of these outside influences, this is a fun contemporary romance story & an entertaining read.

Jaclyn Tate is supposed to marry Chris Blake, but Chris has a heart attack on the way to the church. The circumstances regarding his medical crisis are savory, and, since he is the adult son of the former POTUS, the Tate and Blake families rush to cover up the news from the public. Alex Blake, who is Chris' twin brother, poses as the groom during the wedding ceremony, so both families save their political careers. The following day, Jaclyn visits Chris at a private, secure medical facility; it is decided by that Alex will continue his charade and accompany Jaclyn on the couple's planned honeymoon while Chris recovers.

Will Jaclyn remain chaste while in Hawaii? Will Jaclyn and Alex share their true feelings for each other--feelings they have not expressed since college? Will the Tates and Blakes be successful in their endeavors to keep Chris' indiscretions away from the public? And, was Chris' heart attack an unforeseen medical emergency or was it attempted premeditated murder?

This narrative is for readers who enjoy:
1) fake marriage;
2) forced proximity;
3) twin love triangle;
4) political suspense;
5) mafia undertones
6) contemporary romance;
7) high pepper spice rating.

The voice performers did an excellent job. I easily understood which character was speaking, and the performers' intonations lent well to the plot tension.

The narrative's ending felt rushed for a political intrigue romance; the romance storyline seemed to hold more weight than the political mystery. I will be looking for more of Irene Bahrd's novels.

Thank you #HighGravityAudioProductions for my ALC; this review is my honest opinion.

Arranged Vacancy is the first political romance in the Love & Politics series. Jaclyn Taylor is set to marry Christopher Blake and all of the pieces on her perfectly planned life are finally falling into place. Until an unforeseen accident has Christopher’s twin brother, Alex, stepping in for him at the wedding to keep up the illusion that all is well. With a marriage surrounded in lies and deceit, big political goals that could go up in smoke am with one wrong step and everything threatening to crumble down around her, Jaclyn’s perfectly planned life is slowly falling apart. Will she be able to make amends with Christopher or will Alex be the one owning her thoughts?

I am the first to say that I avoid everything political and don’t usually go for political romances, but I’m so glad I read this one! I was hooked from the very first page and I couldn’t get enough of Jaclyn and Alex together. I loved these two characters so much and Christopher played his part well too. This story was so twisted and crazy, but I loved every minute of it. There was so much intrigue in this book that it kept the story fast paced and flowing nicely. The spicy level was perfect for me, but less than some of Irene’s other books I’ve read. I loved this book from start to finish and didn’t want to put it down. The story pulled me in and didn’t let me go until it was all neatly wrapped up. If you are looking for a spicy political romance that isn’t too opinionated on the politics and has a lot of intrigue this book is for you. I can’t wait to see what comes next in this series!

Jaclyn, who has aspirations of political greatness, is convinced that her only route lies in hitching her wagon to a husband who is expected to run for president. When Chris doesn't show up for their wedding, his twin brother Alex offers to step in. And while he's the one she truly wants, his political alignment precludes him from being a viable choice. Can they keep up the ruse and make it look real until Chris recovers from his accident and can step back into the spotlight? Or will their feelings get in the way and ruin the years of groundwork laid by their families?

This was different from the author's usual stuff, and while I liked it, it felt a bit less put together than the rest of her books. The connection between Alex and Jaclyn wasn't *quite* there for me. I think I needed them to talk about it more, rather than having the narrative refer to their college years as evidence of their draw to one another. There was a lot to love about Alex, though, from how supportive he was of Jaclyn and her goals to his determination to keep her. It could have been easily reduced to a tug-of-war between brothers, but it really didn't feel that way.

I knew how I wanted it to turn out, but I wasn't sure how it could possibly happen. I definitely wasn't expecting to go the way they did. And I absolutely need to read book 2 when it comes out so I can figure out what is going down with Ileah. I'm hooked!

Thank you so much to Irene Bahrd. I am proud to be on your ARC/hype squad. Thanks also to The Author Agency for my gifted ARC. I am voluntarily sharing my honest review.

✨Moderate/Left leaning Political Romance

“Stay with me, Choose me , and I'll find a way out of this mess."

Jaclyn is in and arranged political marriage with Chris . Both there dads have been presidents. Chris ends up not showing up because he was in a “Accident”. Thankfully his Twin brother steps up and pretends to be Chris.

Alex and Jaclyn kind had feelings for eachother in college but never said anything to one another about those feeling. Eventually Jaclyn parents wanted her to having nothing to do with him because he didn’t views then them and switched parties.

Through out the story you see this chemistry she has with Alex that she never had with Chris. She knows it doesnt matter how she feels for Alex she can’t leave Chris.

I love the man Alex is to her. He made Chris seem like a child compared to the man he is.

“He does not touch you again. He may be your husband to the rest of the world, but you’re my wife, Jaclyn. If you let him, there will be consequences.”

Im not going to lie Chris was growing on me little but I couldn’t forgive what he did to her and the position he put her in.

I wish there was more of everything . I felt like this book ended so fast. I am happy that in the end she got everything and more.

I am really excited for book number 2 which is following her best friend!!

This entire story gave me "Scandal" vibes, and I was here for it!
Jaclyn is the daughter of a former president who is forced into an arranged marriage with a Senator who doesn't align with any of her personal political views but is the perfect husband for her family's image. She is at their wedding, waiting for her groom when she receives word that Chris was in an accident and will miss their big day. But his accident has scandal swirling around it, so canceling the wedding is out of the question. Enter Alex; Chris' twin brother, who happens to be Jaclyn's longtime crush.
They proceed with Alex as the stand in, taking their vows and attending the reception all while Chris is in a secret hospital recovering from an accident that, if made public, would ruin everyone involved. As the truth is revealed, Jaclyn is livid, but Alex and Jaclyn have to keep up the charade while Chris recovers, which means they are off on their honeymoon!
But while there, they fall in love, and the love triangle ensues as she battles with following her heart or falling in line with family duties. The political web is enticing, and I didn't want to put this one down. The ending is a whirlwind, and I am excited for the next book!
CJ Bloom and Brandon Francis were fantastic on this one! I love CJ and she played this badass woman to a T! I've never listened to Brandon and I can't wait to hear more of his work he was great as both Alex and Chris!

Arranged Vacancy
Series: Love & Politics, Book 1
By: Irene Bahrd
Narrated by: CJ Bloom, Brandon Francis

Ever want to delve into a book that has all the tropes you love? Well Irene Bahrd has written this one for me. Politics, forced proximity, fake marriage, it's all there and it's so much fun! Jaclyn does what she is told, Her father the former president has aspirations for her future husband, and it's now time for her to get married. But what happens when he doesn't show up due to an accident and his twin brother stands in for him? Christopher has dug his own hole for this one, and now his brother. Alex will be taking everything he wants. At least through the honeymoon. Where does it all lead? Danger, deceit, arrangements, mafia, passion and a love like no other come into play into this story. Is it believable? Well, anything in politics these days is, so I was all in with this. A story where love prevails and the consequences could be huge, this is a fabulous listen. I cannot wait to hear the next in the series.

CJ Bloom and Brandon Francis are the story tellers, and together they are fabulous. Bloom is Jaclyn, the one with ambition and drive and at the same time, a vulnerability that lets Alex in. Bloom delves into her personality and creates a fantastic character. Francis is the twins, each their own personality, each with flaws and each with an end game. Francis does them each justice as the plot thickens. Loved these two and enjoyed the listen.

📚ARC Review📚

Arranged Vacancy- ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

🇺🇸 “Educated, but not opinionated. Feminine, but not too delicate. Social, but always keeping secrets guarded. First Lady is in my future if I marry Chris; I have to play the part.” 🇺🇸

The DRAMA! This is my first political romance so I wasn’t sure what to expect. The beginning started a bit slow for me, but once it picked up, the twists and turns just kept coming. I would have never guessed that ending from where we started, and I loved that I was kept on my toes! Arranged Vacancy felt like I was watching a political drama and is perfect for fans of those!

I really enjoyed the variety of characters we had, politically motivated parents, playboys who can’t keep it in their pants, Jaclyn who’s willing to sacrifice her own happiness to support what she thinks is right, and Alex who was just a golden retriever of a politician. I loved the mafia influence and am super intrigued by Finn!

This was my first read by Irene, but definitely not my last! I am so excited for Ileah’s story, I imagine the drama and twists are going to be tenfold.

🇺🇸 Political Romance
🌹 Fake Marriage
🇺🇸 Love Triangle-ish
🌹 Forced Proximity
🇺🇸 Opposites Attract
🌹 Mafia Ties

Thank you so much to Irene and the Author Agency for the ARC opportunity 💙
