The book was ok but if the rest of the series wasn't on KU I would not bother reading them. The plot is one where you really, REALLY, have to suspend your sense of disbelief and ignore reality. Spoilers******
I do not in any form of reality believe that a woman can be accosted on an empty rooftop bar, turned over a man's knee (a man she just met and does not feel really safe with), get spanked and despite trying to fight him off gets so sexually excited she wants to have, and does have, sex with him. Nope, just not happening.
There are many such unbelievable scenarios in this book. Like, after the rooftop encounter, he buys the apartment building she lives in so she will, hopefully, feel how helpless she is against him. Several times she thinks he is really mentally instable but...she continues to go out with him...because...the big exposé about him she wants to write. She is TSTL and he is OTT.
I will probably read the next book because it is in KU but otherwise I wouldn't bother.

Yummy yum yum for my tummy yum yum! 4.5stars
Loki Renard was a juicy surprise find for me. Not even sure how this book popped up? I wasn’t ready for searching for something or other and saw this. Boy am I glad the Titke caught my attention as I like a good sp@nking story every now and again. This had more than just that element though. I wasn’t ready for pleasantly surprised our h was no wilting violent! Nope, she was strong and never ONCE compromised her morals, she kept to her guns and made our H fight for his every submission earned. Delicious!
Then we have our H who was very alpha and kept his toys VERY well guarded and locked down with all kinds of tracking implements, freaking psychö for sure and couldn’t care less about it either. He was so very yummy.
The spicy scenes were so hot I’m still fanning myself. The descriptions left nothing to the imagination, no guess work needed to try and figure out what was happening on page, nope! We are quite literally drawn right into the story. So so good!!!
All in all a great read and my very next book will be something by Loki as I’m running to her back catalogue. She is a perfect palette cleanser when I need a break from darkness or hockey romance. Perfectly different from either genre. This is such a great escape and I am her for every punishing moment.

Charlotte aka Charlie just knew there was something about Marcus Waterstone that she wanted to uncover. He had to have something hidden. Marcus sees Charlie as a challenge and he plans to tame her. What starts out as a hot story for Charlie ends up a hot bottom. I have to say I had a feeling when Charlie talked about where her source was and who. But then I had my doubts. The Embassy was surprising place. We learn a lot about Marcus and his past. Charlie breaks it all down. By the end I wasn’t sure if I should be made at Marcus or sad. It all worked out and I was happy with their HEA.

I didn't feel any actual romance. She is hating him and betraying him and lacks any care for him up until like 5 pages before the end. Then she loves him I guess?
Some continuity issues that happen in Loki books because they come out so fast. For example how he is a billionaire.
We are repeatedly told this:
"Marcus Waterstone, an old-money billionaire from a beloved corporate family."
But then also:
'It’s the first hint of the fact that he wasn’t raised rich. This man made every single one of the multiple billions of dollars he possesses, on his own."
Stuff like that makes me a little nuts.
I do enjoy the possession and pet play though.

I am glad to read again for this author. For a while, she was only writing sci-fi and I was not interested in that. Now, she returned to writing contemporary novels and I couldn't be happier. There were a lot of twists in this story and sometimes I failed to predict what happens next but that keeps the reader engaging I believe. Marcus is quite an interesting character. Charlie, on the other hand, can be annoying at times. The happy ending was totally worth it. Looking forward to reading the next book in the series.

An interesting story that kept me guessing what Marcus was going to do next. Charlie has unknowingly fallen into his trap and then the fun begins but it usually ends with her being disciplined. I enjoyed the story even though I never knew for sure what the outcome would be. Marcus surprised me several times as did Charlie. It’s an entertaining story, with well developed characters and surprises along the way. It’s a story I can happily recommend.

Loki weaves a steamy romance and intrigue you won’t see coming!
Charlie’s eager plan to take down Marcus with her expose story is perhaps instigated by her secret internet with no flaws in her plan until she meets the enigma that is Marcus. It’s easy to hate Marcus for controlling the narrative, yet at the same time, he is there when Charlie needs him. The plot twists when Charlie seems to stick to the plan, but the ending will have you reeling in how did that just happen! Marcus is the whole package and then some!

Not much is said about the mafia aspect of this man, but it’s not even necessary. It’s understood who he is and the power he demands from those around him. His new little play thing is determined to take him down, but will she? Will he own her like he wants to or will her stubbornness keep him at bay?
This was a good story because she believes he’s forcing her to do things that make her uncomfortable, but he’s simply using his words. She has a choice to do what he asks or to walk away. Loki Renard did a great job with this story!

Perverse yet Excellent
Charlie is fixated on taking down the corrupt elite. She’s set her sights on Marcus Waterborne - but which one of them is setting the trap? When she’s ensconced in his his apartment wearing little more than a collar, she isn’t quite sure… This story takes twists and spins that are unexpected but oh so good, they kept me hooked. I was rooting for both Charlie and Marcus - both beautiful, damaged, and too smart, opposites yet perfect for each other. This booked had be gripped - what a great read.

I'd enjoyed reading this dark Mafia romance that's about Marcus and Charlie. Charlie an independent reporter is meeting Marcus Waterstone CEO of Waterstone Corp. for an interview hoping to uncover his ties to the criminal world only she gets more than she bargains. I highly found the characters engaging and their chemistry sizzled within this story. This is a steamy dark read with engaging characters in this enjoyable copy I'd received and volunteer to read and review.

But if you are either into it or like reading it then Loki Renard has delivered with a fast and interesting story. It's steamy and everything you would expect from an author that not only can keep panting from the heat but on the edge from the drama. Feisty heroines and dominating alphaholes- ugh . . . This story is dark and intense! I don't regret reading it and in fact I will probably read more by this author in the near future. Charlie is a so called journalist and she is trying to get a story from a very rich Marcus.But he is using her like she is using him,this story is kinky.Dirty and Sexy!

A “cracking” pace and a very likeable FMC in Charlie coupled with the arrogant but obsessed Marcus, makes for an entertaining read. Power exchange is a given - she is his pet after all - but the genuine affection between them elevates this tail. (He-he see what I did there?) Another enjoyable read from Loki.

How deliciously sexy! Charlie and Marcus' chemistry is off the charts! I love this convoluted romance, Briar there are layers upon layers going on behind the scenes. Wonderfully dark and steamy, so hot, hot, hot the pages almost combust. What an entertaining read. Bravo!.

if you thought 50 shades was bad…
This is far worse. At least 50 shades seemed somewhat “original”… this one? Young and sassy reporter walks into a billionaire’s office and he decides she’s his… I skipped through the first half of it waiting for it to get better but then I gave up hope and didn’t finish it.

Great Read!
This was a very enjoyable and intriguing read. I love how strong Charlie is and like how she rebels as much as she does against Marcus.

Kink, heat and intensity fuel Charlie and Marcus' story. Very OTT delicious if you love an extremely dominate Dom who never met a boundary, he will not just push but obliterate to get what he wanted.

This was so intense heed those warnings and I loved every single word, I could not put it down. The writing is fantastic with twists that I did not see coming.

loved the concept
Love the concepts: Pet, Master, Powerplag dynamic, bdsm and spanking. However, it’s missing so many great details. Every sex scene feels rushed and impersonal with no juicy details.

I have this book four stars cause it was genuinely funny and so many parts were so unserious and a little cringy that I was laughing a kicking my feet🤣 it’s a good entertaining book and it was a quick read. If you want something kinda funny and entertaining then yeah this book is for you.
