In this exhilarating one-hundred-page companion novella to the New York Times bestselling I Am Number Four series, Mark James is on the run—and on the wrong side of the law—but he'll do whatever it takes to save Sarah Hart and help the Garde.
A sequel to I Am Number Four: The Lost Files: Return to Paradise, this novella picks up with Mark racing to Dulce, New Mexico, evading capture from both the Mogadorians and the FBI. On the road, his mysterious new ally—a fellow blogger from They Walk Among Us who Mark knows only by the screen name GUARD—sends him a care package to help in his quest to find Sarah. Inside is a stack of cash, high-tech equipment, and some seriously advanced weaponry, all begging Mark to once again ask the question: Just who exactly is this guy? As Mark gets closer to tracking down Sarah, he also gets closer to discovering the identity of this enigmatic figure who seems to know so much about the Loric. When the truth about GUARD is finally revealed, nothing will ever be the same.
Now, that was a great story. I thought Mark was pretty much a dufus and full of himself, but I have changed my mind. What a surprise ending! hahaha - not giving ANYTHING away.
Mark's adventures continue and this part of his story picks up right after we left it in Return to Paradise. He is on his way to save Sarah from a secret FBI base, with the remote help of his mysterious friend GUARD.
He might be in way over his head and has a number of narrow escapes, but he manages to make a difference through his blog, where he reveals the truth about the Mogs as he uncovers it.
Eventually he meets up with Sarah, and we see what they've been up to while John and the others were engaged in their own missions.
The story ends with the revelation of GUARD's real identity - !
I am looking forward to reading more about their efforts to aid the cause against the Mogs, starting with The Navigator and GUARD's story next.
I love Mark's point of view! He has changed so much! And I love that he has his own adventure. This part is mostly about him on the run in search of Sarah and the Guard who is also the hacker is helping him along the way. Also, they were able to meet in the end.
This is the sequel to ‘Return to Paradise’ and follows up on the Mark James story. Mark James stopped being the galactic idiot he was in the original book, and decided to join the side of the Loric in ‘Return to Paradise’, realising that Aliens do exist. The Fugitive picks up with Mark going after Sarah from the end of ‘Return to Paradise’ where Sarah went missing. The story continues through this plot line as Mark struggles along trying to help Sarah, getting assistance from the Super-Hacker ‘Guard’. I won’t go into more and ruin it, but again, the ‘Mark James’ plot line is actually a really cool one. Seeing Mark in this type of role is a great fun read, and there is a lot of extra material for fans of the series. The other great thing about this story is the bits and pieces about ‘Guard’, as everyone is wondering who is this person? The character of Mark is written really well, he comes across as you think he should, a cross between not so dumb jock (just been putting it on), a Cops son, but a bit thick as he has bludged school a lot. He is also really engaged in this as he knows it's for his life, and more importantly to him, for the love of his life, Sarah. Rather than being really annoying, the story also accepts that Mark and Sarah are not going to get back together, and just gets on with it. Mark accepts this, and although he does comment on the fact that he is over the top for her, it's done in an amusing way. This is one of the better Lost Files, and is a great fun read that gives you an awesome story, some excellent characters, and gives you a brilliant plot line.
Hey ho! The Fugitive centers on former bully Mark James as he travels on a solo-crusade to New Mexico to rescue ex-girlfriend Sarah 'Bleeding' Hart. Mark has become the epitome of people he used to beat up in school. He's less of a douche now and is doing his part to defend Earth in the impending alien invasion. You can totally see Mark's growth during his reunion with Sarah when he acknowledges the fact that something has changed between them. When he finally accepted that he will always be there for Sarah but he's not trying to win her back. Oh, and then there's this awesome part where he deemed Sarah 'Bleeding' Hart as a total BAD ASS <3 Loved that scene!
This is the book which we finally get to see who GUARD is! I had my own speculations. I weirdly hoped it was Adamus or Nine's Cepan even if I was sure that they can't be GUARD. So at the end, we find out who the dude is and, surprise(!), cliffhanger! :))
Random: GUARD == GARDE :O
-- Yeah! This marks my last book for the year 2014! Happy New Year to all!
Those misadventures of Mark James were an action-pack badassery in the form of pure conspiracy of geekiness. This is the Mark James that I'm rooting for. And, by the way, GUARD's so hot that Mark James
*throws a combined specialized EMP and concussion blast to y'all*
Can't wait for the next book that's probably the last one of Lore!
In the short novel you get more of Mark James story. You find out why he started to beleive aliens were real. You also see a little bit of Sarah and Mark working togather, and you find out who Guard is. I think Guard should make an appearance in one of the actual books soon.
Upon learning the whereabouts of Sarah Hart, Mark James heads to New Mexico to mount a one-man rescue, all the while trying to stay out of the hands of the Mogadorian-allied FBI.
This quick read was not a bad way to re-visit the world of the Garde and Mogadorian threat. I didn't care for Mark in the first book, but he grew on me when he joined the cause. He was always in the background though, so it was interesting to see him more front and center here. Of course, I never much cared for Sarah as a character; I don't feel that the author really created her in such a way that it makes sense for both John and Mark to pine over her, but that doesn't really affect this story. Since I have read the whole Lorien Legacies series, I already knew the outcome of this novella, so the big reveal wasn't news to me and cliffhanger wasn't particularly thrilling. Again, this isn't any fault with the story itself. Overall, the story was decent but not super exciting for me. Maybe it would have been different if I'd read it at the place it occurred in the series, instead of after it was all done, but oh well. You definitely wouldn't want to read this if you haven't read any of the series. If you have and liked the series, you might want to read this as well.
I screamed like a little girl when I found out about this novella but my heart sunk when I read that it is the sequel to Return to Paradise. I know I said it before but Mark James - and Sarah Hart - is not my favorite character, which made Return to Paradise the novella I liked the least. So The Fugitive started at a disadvantage, one reason is Mark but the other reason is the fact that I thought I knew who GUARD’s identity. Meaning I read the whole thing feeling like I already knew what went down or had been spoiled but I was wrongs.
The Lost Files: The Fugitive is good, what happens to Mark is interesting and feels less like history compared to the previous one. The novella is more up to date with the novels. It gives more insight into some aspects to the main story, even I believe that the only relevant information in this novella is GUARD’s identity. I just hope that GUARD will quickly be integrated in the next novel because in Adam’s case it felt like a long time before he finally got into the main story arc.
We're back with Mark. This time, in his quest to find Sarah, he becomes a target for the FBI and the Mogs. The way he operates at first, just running away with a stolen laptop feels pretty foolish. I wonder if his parents ever read with "Goodbye, I was kidnap by the FBI" letters because we never hear about that afterwards, only that they left tons of message and he just answered he was fine. Funny that the guy who wants to fight the Mogs and wake up the world to the alien invasion won't even tell his dad about it while he is in the middle of it in Paradise whether or not Mark likes it.
There are quite a bit of action and a lot of information in this book though whatever they put on the website and if that help their purpose seems a bit unclear seeing how vague Mark'POV is at time. I guess that's what you get with a character high on coffee and energy drink that barely sleeps or eats.
I'm really enjoying seeing Mark James go from doing just another douchebag fuckboi jock to an actual person. He's still kind of a dumbass, but he makes up for it in courage and physical strength. It's nice to see just a regular human getting to be a badass in all of this. But for fuck sake, I knew the second that it said Mark wrapped a dirty t-shirt around his bullet wound that it was gonna get infected. This dude can memorize lists of corrupt politicians and federal agents like it's nothing. But he can't say for sure if he's allergic to penicillin. Mark isn't quite a himbo. But he's definitely a decent guy.

Mark James is on the run from the Mog Pro FBI after he steals top secret information. He can't trust anyone, except GUARD - a tech savvy, extremely loaded ally whose identity remains unknown. With GUARD's help, Mark finds himself one step closer to finding Sarah and also learning more about who he has come to rely on at the worst of times.
It's the Lost Files Book Ten and another average read in the series, which has more books than I had assumed when I first begun it way back. There are some good moments in this series, make no mistake, but quite often the characters do blend together to form a mesh of good geezer and bad geezer and forgetting which was number 6 and 9 and 4 etc.
Ugh, how cool is this one? I thought the Guard reveal won’t be until LF 12 but lo and behold, the most badass thing ever! And yeah, perfect timing to introduce the ride the Garde will be using to go back home.
Except will they really go back? They dumped all of the Phoenix Stones in that Mayan temple in Book 5.
Relectura.
The story of Mark continues in this Novella. It takes us through his reunion with Sarah and introduces a new character--GUARD. I think I have said it before, but I love these novellas. I think they are what is making me come back to this series again and again. It’s like re-reading the book, but from a different character perspective. They fill in the gaps and enrich the story. Love them!!
I love novellas like this but it's also novellas like this that makes me wonder why couldn't they just add them into the actual books? Compared to the actual Garde themselves, I swear our dear Fugitive here did more work and that, needs to be complimented on, in the actual books.
