“As long as I’m with you, I don’t give a damn which side of the law I’m on.”

“I can’t live without you,” he breathes, and for a second, I see that vulnerability I adore so much flicker across his usually inscrutable face. “In this fucked up world of darkness I never asked for, you’re the only light. My light.”

Dallas is the final part of this intense duet between FBI agent Dallas and his crime boss Isaac. I loved how this story starts immediately after the first entry. You are placed back into that intense and shocking moment of truth, which quickly unravels and creates a mess in the relationship between Dallas and Isaac.

I appreciate the growth and patience this entry takes with their relationship. Because their dynamic was well set up in the first part, this story takes you on a journey of risks while focusing on trust and suspense. Their world is dangerous, unpredictable, and unforgiving. I was at times doubting they would survive. This is an amazing final part of this duet and I loved it from start to finish.

A thrilling conclusion to Dallas and Isaac's romance.

I don't know why the first book didn't end with and instead saved it for a few chapter into this book. Maybe the author felt the first one was getting too long and this part wouldn't be long enough? I don't know, but either way, the cut off and starts to the first and this book felt a bit off.

Wasn't cliffhanger-y enough, and thus we go into this one where everything is pretty good still, and then just a few chapters in .

Aside from that though, this was a great conclusion to their story. Dallas and Isaac more embroiled with the criminal world, and danger seems to be coming from all sides, and they don't quite know how they're going to survive it.

Also for this being so short, I think it still dealt with the pretty well. There was appropriate reactions and appropriate time spent in the aftermath, and showing how .

I think Jeremy seemed a bigger threat in the first book and kinda went out with a whimper, threat-wise, in this one, but it's okay because they had so many other threats to contend with. Still was kind of a dangling/abandoned thread though. He finds out, gets angry and then Isaac tells him to stand down for ~reasons and that's about it from Jeremy.

Isaac and Dallas became stronger than ever in this, and their chemistry was still very strong and very good. We got a good amount of sex, too, for all the shit that was going on around them.

And seeing them get their HEA was great after a thrilling, wild climax where it seemed they might not make it.

I definitely recommend this, it's a must read after the first book, and a good conclusion to their story with exciting twists and turns.

I'm also super excited for Vlad's younger brother falling for his bodyguard next, will definitely be tuning into that one.

Can't wait! 😊

"We are fire and drought, destined to consume and ruin. His tongue writes secrets across the inside of my mouth, scripts of longing that have no place in our world. And I read them all, insatiable for the narrative that could destroy us both."

Dallas is book 2 in the Light & Shadow duet by the fabulous N.N. Britt and whilst it is predominantly Dallas' book, it is written in dual POV with chapters shared between Dallas and Isaac. Natalia writes so beautifully, and creates such wonderfully complex, layered, broken characters you just lose yourself in the continuation of the story.

Again, watch out for those tough, dark themes BUT I promise there's a HEA!

What To Expect:

❥ MM mafia/cop romance
❥ dual POV
❥ opposites attract
❥ steamy
❥ angsty
❥ first times
❥ found family
❥ HEA

Such high hopes. Isaac is a mafia leader and Dallas is an undercover FBI agent. I wanted to love this but the writing was not great…It was flowery and redundant. Very on the nose and constantly reminded us that Dallas was actually undercover as Cody “Hawk” Smith. I swear that was written 100 times. We get it.

I was obsessed with the premise but it wasn’t delivered very well. I never really felt like they fell in love. We got good background on Isaac but very little on Dallas. There was so much detail on the mafia business and a million side characters but not much focus on their relationship ship developing. I could see it from Isaac’s side but not really Dallas. I was bored when they hung out one on one. Which is usually my favorite parts of books! Something about their relationship wasn’t believable to me and I can’t really pinpoint why.

Also! (Spoiler) I hated how the solution to their problems was abandoning all their loved ones. Didn’t feel very Isaac to just give up his people to a random Russian guy he doesn’t know at all but “has a good feeling about”. Book was WAY too long but then kinda rushed at the end. Wish I liked it more :/

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

This is the second book of a series - there will be spoilers, so if you haven’t read the first book, I suggest not going further in this review.

“Dallas” is the second book in the “Light and Shadow” series and it follows almost right after the events from “Isaac”. Hawk is still recovering from the events that led him to be accepted as a true member of the Hellhounds. No one suspects him as an agent but what he did not to have his cover exposed has taken a toll on his mental health. He has fully embraced his identity as Hawk and the lines between Hawk and Dallas are still blurred.

When his cover is blown after a mishap from the AFT, Hawk’s identity is revealed to Isaac creating a rupture in their relationship. Isaac has found in Hawk, a person he can trust and confide in, someone he can be himself. Dallas, on the other hand, is removed from his fantasy where he could be in Isaac’s world without needing to think of the bureau. Hawk saved Isaac from death but he sacrificed his relationship and all the progress he made with Isaac throughout the previous book. Isaac feels betrayed and disgusted with himself for allowing himself to be vulnerable to the person he thinks deceived him. But Hawk never misled Isaac in terms of their feelings. Though being confused about how their relationship was heading in the first book, in “Dallas” the couple comes to terms with their wishes and hopes for the future. “Isaac” talks about the past and the present, but “Dallas” is all about their future together with their real identities, with no more secrets between them.
It is the moment when their relationship becomes real and honest. Since being exposed to both worlds, Isaac can finally understand that the world of crime is probably not the one he was born to but in reality, it was just a necessity, and Dallas realizes that justice is not always so just and that sometimes you need to cross some barriers to protect those in need and those who you love the most.

While Isaac found in Hawk a vulnerability, what Isaac represented to Hawk was something he could never have: his happy ending with the man he loved. Isaac is not seen as much of a crime boss anymore, he changes sides to survive and helps the bureau and at that point, we see that Hawk is no more and Dallas is now in charge of his personality. He becomes what he couldn’t be as Hawk: fierce, protective, caring, and rational. He pleads with Isaac to help him survive a world that wants him gone and he can embrace his identity. He doesn’t need to be Hawk to love Isaac; his love and his caring for Isaac was more than a mission.

“Dallas” is still a dual POV novel where we witness Isaac’s fears and desires, things he wasn’t able to wish for until he met Dallas. But this is “Dallas” moment, this is about him facing the reality of his feelings for Isaac, how they need each other desperately to feel complete, and how they can achieve their happily ever after.

Isaac Thoreau, the leader of a Vegas criminal organisation, has found himself on the FBIs radar.

Enter Dallas Bradley, tasked with going undercover as Hawk to infiltrate Isaac’s gang and bring them down.

As Hawk gets closer to Isaac and starts to become a bigger part of the gang, he starts to realise there’s more to Isaac than he initially thought.

The more he gets to know Isaac, both physically and emotionally, he starts to wonder if he is on the right side of this fight.

I chose to review these books as one, not just because I read them back to back, but because it almost didn’t make sense to treat them separately since the second picks up when the first ends.

I’ll admit that these books follow some typical tropes, law official turns bad, misunderstood criminal, and a forbidden love. But it kind of works, and that’s down to the characters. Isaac’s complexities and his backstory help you to really see why Dallas starts to question his role as an undercover agent.

Part of me wishes that Dallas got the same treatment, but we do get to learn a little bit about him.

This is a slow burn, at least for the first book. So slow that I wondered if we would ever get to the spice, but we got there in the end 😂

Overall, this was a good duo to read, but I would recommend reading them back to back rather than separately

AND just when I thought “Dallas” couldn’t top “Isaac”, N N Britt started it off with a BANG continuing the story right where she dropped that jaw-dropping cliffhanger.

The ending of this duet was exactly what I needed for closure and she tied up everything perfectly. The guys showed a sense of vulnerability that was beautiful to see especially knowing how everything played out until this moment happened. The angst, the sense of betrayal and trying to navigate what potentially could be their new norm, if Isaac could ever trust Dallas again! It was page gripping, intense and so much suspense after each page. A true masterpiece to see if love can conquer all, when everything is stacked against you. The character growth, the storyline, the love between Isaac and Dallas, the raw emotions. Everything was a 5 star read about this book. By far one of the best duets I’ve read this year. Highly recommend!

entertaining mafia romance

Rating: 3.75🌈

Is it so incredibly contradictory to say i enjoyed this despite myself? There were so many aspects to this storyline that vexed me because they and the characters actions felt illogical or clueless. And that doesn’t address the plot holes left dangling at the end of the story never to have resolution if this is a duology.

But I did end up getting snared in the messy, enemies to lovers relationship between the mob boss son trying to hold his territory and the undercover agent sent in to neutralize him and his criminal element. Britt’s intention isn’t to write a realistic law enforcement thriller that mirrors current real life scenarios or even alphabet agency procedures, but in her words “to tell a love story “. Which she does.

This second book contains the most detailed aspects about the characters, the horrific abuses in Isaac’s background and family history, including vague references to his prison life.

It’s also where we see a more rounded version of Agent Dallas Bradley, aka Hawk, now a man so conflicted about his duty and where his loyalty is based that he’s hesitant about his own personal feelings and future. This is where a two person POV really excels in getting a reader into the mindset of the main characters, especially in situations where they are so diametrically opposed.

The relationship between Dallas/Hawk and Isaac has a vivid raw realistic connection. Britt has done a great job in making this a passionate, love hate romance that’s so overwhelming that some of the plot’s underwhelming elements get overlooked.

This includes the resolutions to the storylines left dangling at the end of the book. These plot holes relate only to this couple and these two books, at least from what I understand, ties up their relationship and storylines. Not totally satisfying but they do get a HFN.

The third book has a completely different story and couple. And, I expect, follows the same unconventional narrative concerning law enforcement code and policing.

I enjoyed this duo, found it entertaining and the pair dramatic and interesting. Is it in the top of my mafia romance list? No. But if this is a trope that you enjoy, pick it up and see what you think. Read them in the order they are written.

Great cover.

Trigger Warnings include:
mafia/mob involvement and violence including shootings on page, under age human trafficking, mentions of spousal abuse and the sexual assault/rape of a child on page

Being reunited with Isaac and Dallas was fabulous! They’re no longer just the crime boss and undercover agent, they are very much Isaac and Dallas. And there is no way I could have loved them more! I devoured this one just as quickly as the first book. I claimed to be obsessed with getting to enjoy their slow burn in the first book. But the quick adventure going on in this one?! Just as obsessed! There’s plenty of things being tossed into the equation, and again…couldn’t have loved it more! The vulnerability between them was only more enjoyable with this one because I am absolutely so attached to them. The trust is always there. Even when it shouldn’t be. Even when it’s not deserved or earned. But that’s their love. Their ripped opened hearts, exposed to each other. When the time comes, and they become a forced not to f-ck with?! Lord, my heart!

My Favorite Quotes:
• “I'll stand with you through the fire. I’ll protect you."
• “Whatever you think, our time meant something to me."
• “Since when do you care?" "Since you became more than just a job."
• “Let's pretend, just for tonight, that we're two normal people. No blood on our hands, no ghosts at our backs."
• “Tell me you want this. Tell me you need this too."
• “Fuck me. Fuck me raw and hard."
• “Come inside me. Please. I need it."
• “You are one needy power bottom, baby." "And you fucking love it, don't you?”
• “It’s all we have left—that’s entirely ours."
• “Yours. All fucking yours."
• “As long as I'm with you, I don't give a damn which side of the law I fall on."

“For the first time in my life, I do want something for myself—something that has nothing to do with power or control or revenge. It’s warmth. Warmth of the human touch.” -Isaac

This quote from the first book in the duology encapsulates everything I loved about this story. These books have all the elements of a dark mafia style romance, and not only are they both incredibly entertaining, but there’s a depth to the characters that made me absolutely fall in love with the story.

Isaac Thoreau, the prince of the Thoreau family and the man who killed his own father is everything you think of when you imagine a crime boss. He’s impeccably dressed at all times, lethal, one step ahead of everyone else and always knows how to handle a situation. Or at least that’s the persona he projects to the outside world.

On the other hand, Dallas is a by-the-book FBI agent and veteran who believes the law is black and white and that the undercover work he does makes the world a safer place by putting men like Isaac behind bars.

It’s frowned upon to sleep with your target. Even worse to develop feelings for them.

Isaac and Dallas have undeniable chemistry from the moment they meet and I enjoyed the slow burn tension between them as they fought these feelings. The books are dual POV, but they each tell a part of the story, so you truly get to see how the characters interact with the world instead of always being privy to their thoughts.

Isaac’s backstory is incredibly heartbreaking, and I absolutely loved watching Dallas uncover his truth to realize that there’s more to him than just another evil man making money off of other people’s suffering.

On another note, I really liked how consent was portrayed in these books and in their relationship. I thought that was well done. That being said, this duology does deal with quite a few heavy topics, so checking the content beforehand is advised.

I want to thank N.N.Britt for allowing me to read both of these books before their release date.

Boy, was I glad to have this one lined up after the way Isaac ended. You must read that book first, as it focused on the relationship and trust building between Hawk and Isaac and showed us how much more to their story there was. I really liked Isaac, the man thrust into a world he didn’t want but who manned up in order to take care of those who needed him. His crew were loyal and true and it was hard to watch things unfold, especially as Hawk grew to be a part of their family as well. But, just as was initiated in the first book, the twists and turns continue. Isaac is having to navigate this world where betrayal comes at him from various directions.

The lines blurred for Hawk not too long after he took on this assignment. I was on the edge of my seat throughout dreading the time when Jeremy’s suspicions were proven true and how things would play out once the truth came to light (about Hawk anyway). I continued to struggle to see a path forward for Isaac and Hawk that ended up with them finding any sort of happiness. There are a lot of events that take place that shape their ending, with various players showing their hands.

Even as I was quickly turning pages, I didn’t want this story to end. I loved Hawk and Isaac together, their dynamic was intense and meaningful given their respective pasts. Isaac needed a happy ending in the worst way. This story isn’t fluffy, as it contains violence and other dark subjects, dark family issues and drama, as well as trust and betrayal. These guys live in a precarious world which makes their relationship intense and their chemistry undeniable. It was all things that made up their relationship, feelings they had little control over, that pulled them through when all hope seemed lost. I really didn’t want to say goodbye to these two but loved how this story all played out. I’ll definitely be looking for more from this author in the future.

Dallas: MM Mafia Romance by N. N. Britt is an electrifying continuation of the Light & Shadow series, delivering a potent mix of betrayal, redemption, and explosive passion. In this sequel, the tension between Isaac and Dallas reaches new heights, taking readers on a wild ride through the dark alleys of Sin City where trust is a rare commodity and love is a dangerous game.

Isaac, now the powerful leader of the Hellhounds, is a man used to control, but his world is turned upside down when he discovers that the one person he allowed into his heart, Dallas—aka Hawk—is actually a special agent sent to bring him down. The betrayal cuts deep, and the fallout is both heartbreaking and gripping, with emotions running high as the story unfolds.

Dallas’s struggle to reconcile his love for Isaac with his duty as an agent is portrayed with raw intensity. The stakes are higher than ever as he risks everything, including his own identity, to protect Isaac from a fate he never wanted. The chemistry between these two characters is undeniable, and their complex relationship is at the heart of this gripping narrative.

Britt masterfully navigates the themes of trust, loyalty, and redemption, crafting a story that is as emotionally charged as it is thrilling. The setting of Las Vegas adds a gritty backdrop to the dangerous world Isaac and Dallas inhabit, making every twist and turn even more compelling.

Dallas is a must-read for fans of MM mafia romance. It’s a story of love tested by fire, where betrayal leads to redemption and two men must decide if their bond is strong enough to survive the ultimate test. Five stars for a breathtaking, intense, and unforgettable read! I finnish both books in just 3 days.

3.5 and I had a hard time with figuring out whether to round it up or down.

I was expecting the FBI cat out of the bag moment to be the finale of book 1 with a massive cliffhanger instead of starting the 2nd book with it.
Regardless, I liked how things turned out and how the MCs found a workaround.

Now, what I was really anticipating is to learn more about Dallas' past. I thought it was coming, hence, the books are named Isaac and Dallas, but that wasn't the case.

I think the books were overly focused on Isaac, while all Dallas got was a few breadcrumbs of his past and 2 short phone calls with his family. I think it would have been crucial to learn more about his past from his POV like we did with Isaac: how did he turn out to be the person he was until this mission? What was the ultimate motivation behind joining the army or the FBI?

We learnt how Isaac got on the wrong side of the law for the right reasons, and I anticipated seeing how Dallas got on the right side of the law, maybe for the wrong reasons, but I feel like we barely even scratched the surface on Dallas.

I did like the power dynamics of the couple, how they ended up meeting in the middle, in the grey area. I did like how the romance was kinda moody, with skeletons in the closet and shadows in the corner and not all rainbows and flower bouquets, but I was kinda waiting for that breakthrough moment of romance and partnership at the end, but I just got hit in the face with the epilogue.

I have contradicting feelings about how things played out at the end.
On one side, I was able to accept that sometimes some things are just too big of a bite, stakes are too high even for a main character in a book and they just deserve their HFA/HEA.
On the other hand, I hated the shit out of it, how some threads were left untied and justice was not served.

This is part two of a duet - Isaac (book 1) must be read first

This book is honestly the perfect conclusion to the Light & Shadow duet. What was beautifully set up in Issac is continued, and all the questions and little breadcrumbs that were dropped are answered along the way.

I was surprised at how early the twist of Dallas' true identity played out, but I also feel that worked in the narrative's favour as it created this delicious lovers-to-enemies-to-lovers subplot that I was all for. But that's not to say that Britt didn't throw in so many other twists in the narrative that I did NOT see coming. This was one action packed book, and had me gripped so tightly I read it in a matter of hours.

What I loved most about this story was the growth of the MMCs through the duet. Both Isaac and Dallas have grown exponentially, and you can see the change from when we first met them in book one. I absolutely adored as Isaac broke down his walls and told Dallas of the past - even if it wasn't the full story - and my heart ached for him in those moments of confession.

The action was present in the story until the last moment, and I actually questioned a few times if the boys would get their happily ever after; and I truly loved the HEA that Britt gave them. It was so well deserved.

I definitely recommend reading this duet back to back for the full impact, rather than two weeks apart like I did, but a phenomenal read from a new to me author, and I'm definitely going to be keeping my eye on future releases from her.

Thank you to the author for the eARC opportunity. These are my honest thoughts that I have provided voluntarily.

**This is not a stand alone. You need to read Isaac first.**

The amount of emotional angst, turmoil, and heart ripping actions that happens in this book will have you on a rollercoaster you do not want to get off!

Isaac suffers a potentially fatal injury where, in order to save him, Dallas blows his cover as a federal agent. Luckily for him, Isaac is the only one who hears him. When faced with a tough and heart breaking decision, Isaac agrees not to out him to anyone else in order to save himself from prison again.

Isaac is having a hard time letting Dallas go. He has been the only one who has made him feel anything good since before he went to prison. He knows that Dallas started out as an undercover agent and that betrayal is hard to get over. But the more time they spend together trying to stay alive, the pull between them both is not something either one of them can deny, nor do they want to.

But as things go even more sideways for the both of them, to what end will they ensure they are safe?

This conclusion to the Light and Shadow duet will put you through the wringer. I would do anything to be able to reread this duet again.

DALLAS is the second book in the Light & Shadow duet. It cannot be read as a standalone you must read Isaac (book 1) to get the full understanding and impact of this duet. This book picks up right where Isaac ends.

Dallas Bradley is an FBI agent working undercover with the Hellhounds. Dallas never he'd ever fall for a target and cross lines. But something about Isaac calls to him on a level he never expected. When he had to risk his cover to save Isaac's life it wasn't even a thought. At this point Isaac and Dallas don't know who to trust and who is telling them the truth even questioning each other. Isaac has choices to make to keep himself out of prison, He would rather die then go back to prison so the choice isn't one he wants to make but he won't go back. He won't put the people he loves at risk but he has to trust Dallas. Their chemistry and the action and suspense make this read amazing. I couldn't get enough of these characters. I fell into this story and I didn't want to come back out!

This author is new to me and I can't wait to get more. I loved the dark aspect and the suspense where you weren't sure these characters were going to get their HEA was written so well.

I was given a free copy of this book to read and review for Wicked Reads.

"The game has begun, the board set, and the pieces moving in silence. And for some reason, in the darkened corners of purgatory hope feels like a candle in the rain."

We pick up pretty much where we left off from book one.
Hellfire is currently raining down on Issac and his crew
Things just went from bad to absolutely impossible
And Dallas is now clearly seeing how things are just not adding up

"He's a very skilled illusionist, and I fell for the act - hook, line, and sinker."
He didnt have a choice.
The truth was at the tip of his fingers, he knew which side he stood on.
But can he save the man he loves?
Or will the price be too high for either of them?

"Everything you know is just...pieces of a puzzle forced together in the wrong way"

I am not giving anything away in this closing episode
I will however tell you to strap in and hold on tight
This progresses so much faster than book one
The enemy was in our camp the whole time (so to speak)
The missing pieces of the puzzle fall into place
The whole picture now spotlighted
The ending though...

I feel like Issac spent a lot more time on set up whereas Dallas opened with a bang and kept me on edge till the end

Fast-paced, lots of action, so many twists and curves

"Dallas" picks up right where "Isaac" left off, straight into the action. It is definitely one you will pick up right after you read "Isaac" because you'll be so invested in these two men and their story.

There is more relationship angst in this one than the first, mainly because there is actually a relationship for them to have angst about now. The slow burn from the first catches fire, but then Dallas's true identity and purpose in Isaac's operation is revealed, leaving behind a devastated and angry Isaac.

Dallas still has to work his way though his inner turmoil of what he feels is his right place and what side he truly believes he should be on: Isaac's or the law. Isaac has to learn how to trust Dallas all over again, the feelings of betrayal running deep and making things strained between them. Not to say the underlying chemistry is gone - nope. They still burn for one another, even with all of the outside world around them falling apart.

This book was steamier than the first since they actually moved out of the "will they, won't they" territory. I would heed the content warnings for sure.

Overall, this duet was amazing, and I really enjoyed diving into the Light & Shadow world N.N. Britt created. I will definitely be looking into more of her future works!

Dallas saves Isaac’s life but outs himself as a federal agent. The only way too save Isaac is to get him to turn. They make their way back to Vegas as enemies or lovers, they just don’t know which. The Russians, Cartel, and even Dallas’ people are out to bring them down. Betrayed on every side, they can only count on each other.

Even with everything happening, Isaac kept his sense of family and I liked that he really tried to protect and put them first. Dallas kept his equilibrium for the most part until he was betrayed. The action forced them to up their game to stay alive. These weren’t nice people doing nice things but in their world they did what was right for them.

I mostly liked the characters, especially Isaac’s immediate crew. Their loyalty was a testament to his care of them. Even when they doubted him they still supported his decisions.

This book felt muddled. It seemed rushed in to many places, like the author was getting words on paper without bringing the thoughts together.

Overall I enjoyed the series though I did like the first book better.

This is the second part of the Light & Shadow Duet. I am so happy I could read these two together. It would have been upsetting to be left at where the first book stopped.

In this Dallas’s identity is questioned. Isaac has such mixed feelings about being lied to. When things with the mafia issues come to a head, Isaac is backed into a corner. Isaac carries his world’s problems on his shoulders and it becomes overwhelming. When everything is falling apart, Isaac has major decisions. What future does he want. What is he willing to do to get that future.

Dallas finds his being undercover discovered. He has found himself mixed up about what side of the law does he think is right. He sees Isaac as the good guy and maybe his bosses have personal motives to want Isaac dealt with. He also found he has deep feelings for Isaac and wants to have a future with him.

This is a high emotion, action filled mafia romance. I had a hard time setting it down once I started it.

Dallas is the gripping second book in the Light & Shadow duet, following Isaac. The story resumes immediately after the events of the first book, with Dallas Bradley, an undercover FBI agent infiltrating the Hellhounds. As he grows closer to his target, Isaac, Dallas finds himself crossing professional lines he never thought he would.

When Dallas risks his cover to save Isaac, their relationship becomes even more complicated. Both men grapple with trust issues, unsure of who is telling the truth as they face mounting dangers. Isaac is forced to make difficult choices to avoid prison, refusing to jeopardize those he loves. The intense chemistry between Dallas and Isaac, coupled with a blend of action and suspense, makes for an unforgettable read. The book is action-pack, romantic, and their sexy times are hot. You can see the love and chemistry that they have for each other. I was not lookin forward to this book ending.

Wow. Book 2 was a wild ride. Similar to book 1, I was left guessing what was going to happen next. I absolutely devoured this book and finished it within hours. I only (reluctantly) put it down when I had to handle my adult responsibilities 🙄😭. I absolutely love tough guys who are protective and sweet to their significant others. These guys are rarely "sweet" but the intention behind their gestures are clear. I really enjoyed this series. I would love to see future books with other characters from these books to see how their lives turned out. While this book technically ended in an HEA, I am a bit disappointed that a few of the conflicts discussed in the book were not actually resolved (leaving this vague as to not spoil anything) in detail.

The ending of this book lowkey pissed me off… like I feel like it completely goes against Isaac’s character. So much so that I had to knock this from three to two stars.

After the events that occurred at the beginning of the book, Isaac trusted Dallas again wayyyy too quickly. I just think it was way too unrealistic. He and Dallas went right back to banging, which also occurred way too much throughout this book. All of the sex scenes took away from the rest of the book, and it felt like there wasn’t a lot of tension.

Also, while there was a lot of emphasis on Isaac’s backstory in both of these books, Dallas’s is hardly there. There were some brief mentions of his family, but Dallas’s character didn’t feel very fleshed out at all.

Unfortunately this book fell flat and it’s hindered my enjoyment of the first book 😅

⭐️: 4/5

Dallas Bradley is sent undercover as Hawk to infiltrate the Hellhounds run by Isaac Thoreau. Isaac is not one to trust easily after having spent 9 years in prison for his father’s murder, but for some reason finds himself drawn to Hawk his new employee. Lines blur for both Dallas and Isaac, both having their own reasons this should not go further, but neither can stay away.

🖤 Slowburn
🖤 Morally Grey MMCs
🖤 Touch Him and 💀
🖤 Enemies to Lovers
🖤 Forbidden Romance
🖤 Crime Boss X Undercover Agent

When everything comes crashing down and both Isaac and Dallas are facing the unknown. They have to figure out how to survive together. I loved the conflict between the MMCs in the second book of the duet. It’s hard to review without giving anything away, but I was routing for these two to get the HEA. I loved how they worked together and learned to trust one another during this book. Dallas and Isaac are such a cute pair and their relationship is strong and beautiful. This part was definitely action packed and kept you on the edge of your seat, with twists you don’t see coming!

OMG what a rollercoaster this second book Dallas it will have you on the edge of your seat and your heart in your mouth. I’ve got to say I like to vulnerability in this book, but Issac and Dallas will have to be honest about their feelings and trust one another completely to stay together and stay alive. I could not put this book down and I honestly want to tell you everything about this book, but It will just ruin it for you please you have to make sure you read the book one Isaac Book two Dallas. Honestly, amazing.
This is a brand-new author to me other than Isaac. And I’ve got to say I am super excited to read more from NN Britt.

I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

As Dallas begins to lose himself to Hawk more and more, his ties to Isaac increase. But will Isaac forgive him if he finds out the truth? And how can Dallas save them both when danger presses in from all sides?

Isaac has let Hawk into places that no one has been, and has trusted him with far more than his body. When he learns Hawk's truth, will there be time for explanations? Or will the world Isaac was born into tear them apart before they ever get a chance to start?

Dallas is just as fast-paced as Isaac. Full of self-revelations, tested loyalties, and twisted truths. When push comes to shove, just how far are Isaac and Dallas willing to go for love - even as they struggle to admit that's what lies between them?

Hard lives and tough decisions

Isaac and Dallas continue to cross the line with each ohter but it's definitely still not easy for them. Ostensibly on opposite sides of the law, and that's made even more apparent this time, there's so much more to Isaac than a crime boss while Dallas is finding life is much less black and white with every passing day.
I loved their slow burn romance, the white hot attraction that has simmered from the very beginning combusting and binding them together. They have to make very difficult decisions but all the other players in the story can't ultimately keep them apart.
There's a lot here to love and I really did love it. I was so pleased when I realised there's another book in the series, starring a different couple that we've yet to meet.
