An unforgettable and moving thriller for fans of Tana French and Elizabeth George, from the author of the New York Times bestseller Little Girl Lost.
Just before Christmas, the body of a sixteen-year-old girl is found along the train tracks on the outskirts of a small town. As Detective Lucy Black investigates the teenager's tragic last hours in search of clues to her death, she realizes that some of the victim's friends may have been her most dangerous enemies—and that whoever killed her is ready to kill again. Haunted by the memory of a case gone wrong, and taunted by a killer on the loose, Lucy finds herself pitted against a lethal opponent hiding in plain sight.
From an author described by John Connolly as "a major force" in suspense literature, Someone You Know is one of the most atmospheric, powerful thrillers you'll read all year.

My review for the book as whole is posted in the third installment. I was provided an ARC of the complete version by the publisher and Edelweiss for review purposes.
It was a good book i liked it but it took me so long to read I loved lucy's charcter the plot was intersting and I had no idea where things were going it didn't keep at the edge of my seat but I think it's a good first thriller for me toread
I'm not sure what the parts referred to in the above summary are; possibly because I bought the copy I read in the US. And several times I found myself checking the date of its publication, so much did the writing appear to fall below the standard set in other books by McGilloway I have read. Lucy's character seemed to have been assembled from several clichés and none were that compelling.
I really enjoy this writer's storytelling. He keeps the characters real and the plot moving along at a good pace. The only thing I don't care for. Is that arson plays a significant role in all three of the books I've read thus far.maybe, however, this is a colloquialism for Irish tales.
Brilliant! I couldn't put this book down. I just kept turning the pages needing to know who done it! Really well written and I loved the characters. Action from page one and it went on throughout the book with twist after turn. Be prepared to sit up all night trying to finish it!
I really enjoyed reading this story as much as the first Lucy Black story. It is a good little mystery that keeps you interested. It is a hard book to put down.
