Weston will not break me, no matter how hard he tries.
Lennox Holt never expected to venture outside of her castle walls, least of all to seek out the mythical island of Dawnlin to cure her mother. Searching for the healing waters was only one of the many challenges the island forced upon the Voyagers, and learning to trust Dawnlin and those already on the island wasn’t as effortless as she expected.
Now, while in the clutches of the enemy, Lennox struggles with feeling unworthy as she desperately tries to escape, and return to her new home. She was warned of the manipulations and motivations of the Castaways, but as the future queen, she was trained for situations like these.
She must find her inner strength and fight her deep-seated fears of inadequacy, without falling for the barrage of games and manipulations. The looming presence of the Castaway’s leader makes it difficult to follow through with her plans, so she must play games of her own to get the aggravating and infuriatingly enticing leader to trust her enough to let his guard down.
But after living fully immersed on the other side, discovering more about those around her, and being told a story very different from the one she knows, she begins to question everything. Lennox now has to decide who she can trust, and most of all, who is telling the truth.
Blade of Truth is the second book in The Dawnlin Trilogy, for New Adult Fantasy Romance readers who love a slow burn, enemies to lovers, forced proximity, forbidden romance, found family and the one bed trope. It is meant for adult audiences with some explicit spice scenes.
Amanda Briar has been an avid reader of romance, both fantasy and contemporary, since middle school, and loves to watch a good rom-com or fantasy series. After starting a family and deciding her career wasn’t for her anymore, she took a chance to fulfill a lifelong dream to write books. As a self-proclaimed Disney Adult who grew up craving a happy ending, she now writes them herself. She currently lives in California with her family, and still loves reading, baking, movies, and going to Disneyland.
5 star is a feeling, and I felt it the whole time I was reading Blade Of Truth! It gripped me right from the prologue and didn’t let up.
Blade Of Truth is book two in The Dawnlin Trilogy by Amanda Briar. Picking up the sequel to a novel that captured your heart is always nerve-racking, but believe me when I say this sequel exceeded ALL my expectations! It picked up right where book one left off, and while I loved book one, book two was even better! I laughed, I cried (more than once), and the twists just kept on coming. I never knew where the story would go. Briar didn’t waste a single page of those 500+ pages!
This series is Peter Pan inspired, and as I’ve said before Briar captures the magic perfectly, but has still created something that feels unique and her own. Her captivating writing makes it easy to immerse yourself in the vibrant world of Dawnlin and the adventurous tale she weaves has a nostalgic feel I couldn’t get enough of.
Not knowing the truth from lies really drives this story and keeps you turning the pages late into the night. The heroine Lennox craves connection and is drawn to finding her place and to found family. As she grapples with who to trust among all the people she comes across, you too will not know who to trust right along with her. As for the romance, if you like slow burn, and just enough spice, this is for you. I promise you the forced proximity, tension and one bed trope here are UNMATCHED. This series introduced me to a new top book boyfriend🤭
An incredible reading experience. I’m OBSESSED. If I could pick up book three right now, I’d be pushing my TBR aside to do it. Please read this series, and send me ALL your thoughts!
**Thank you to Amanda Briar for sending me an advanced copy as part of your ARC team. I can’t wait to read everything you write in the future.**
3.8 ⭐️ this had such great set up but i feel like we had a copy and paste to the first book of still being stuck and not finding a solution and only given like 2 new plot twists! Which were amazing! Loved the found family and the ways they have each others back.
This is a book, series, and author I will never stop recommending and talking about!!!! Amanda Briar, you are the QUEEN OF TENSION!!! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
If you love Peter Pan inspired books, slow burn with the BEST tension, and feeling all the emotions a fantasy book should be PLEASE read this series!!!! It is a light New Adult Fantasy with spice levels increasing throughout the series.
In Dawn of Hope (book one), we are introduced to the world of Dawnlin and this amazing world, plot, and characters. It is its own level of perfection. But BOOK TWO takes it to a whole next level! I am probably still thinking about the plot twist after plot twist that happened in this book! And THAT ENDING?!! I cannot wait for book three, and I am going to miss being in this world until then!
Amanda Briar has created such an incredible world through her books and I cannot wait to see what is next in the series and ahead for her writing!!! Thank you Amanda and your team for sending me this ARC and letting me share my thoughts and love of this series with everyone I know!!!
If you love: - Peter Pan retellings - slow burn with A+++ TENSION - Pirate/ fairytale vibes - light fantasy / world building - enemies to lovers - one bed - forced proximity - forbidden romance - and spice increasing throughout the series
This book gripped my attention from beginning to end. I swooned. I wanted to cry. I felt every emotion along with the characters. The story took turns I wasn’t expecting and I audibly gasped at several moments. 5 stars does not do this book justice.
I’m in love with these characters and have loved to see their growth.
Reading this book gave me a high I haven’t felt in a long time! It was every bit worth the wait. I can’t wait for the third one!
I underestimated this series sooo much and damn I'm angry at myself for reading sooner!
I love stories where the characters experiences moves the plot along. Each step of the way I kept thinking I knew where this was going, and even until the very last page I didn't and I loved it!
"Peter Pan" vibes made me think I knew what to expect...and I totally didn't! I loved the gentle romance with swoon worthy moments and the 🔥 was perfect! I love that the characters were allowed to fully experience their grief and trauma alongside the ability to have fun and fall in love again.
The feeling of hope was done with such a lovely consideration it swept me into the bigness of the world. as much as the world was centered around a few specific environments It did such an amazing job of making it feel that there was so much happening just outside your vision.
This series is definitely so underrated and it cannot be overlooked!
This is the book we NEEDED after book one! I am living for this romance, and two books just isn’t enough. Where is book 3 already!? I want to be back in Dawnlin already.
This one was sooo much better than book 1. Love Weston… Lennox’s trust issues drove me INSANE though and almost made her insufferable, but she redeemed herself.
We are back in Dawnlin! I said previously in my book one review that it felt more like a YA book... This one is not, There is a pretty good bit of tension throughout & then the last few chapters are NSFW. 😂 The lies and secrets that are revealed are eyebrow raising & the end will leave you needing the third book immediately! "WHaaTTTT" is the only thing I have to say about the cliffhanger! I don't want to say anything else that could be a spoiler. I cant wait for book three!

Okay, y’all… ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Book one was good, but BOOK TWO… I’m obsessed 🤩
I was fortunate enough to receive an ARC of Blade Of Truth and let me tell you- it did not disappoint.
In Blade Of Truth, we are continuing to follow Lennox throughout her journey on the mystical island of Dawnlin. Lennox is learning to navigate both the island itself and her relationships with the islands’ other residents when everything takes a crazy turn.
✨lovable FMC✨ Throughout this novel, we see Lennox grapple with many of her internal demons, featured in book one, such as self-doubt, feelings of inadequacy, and loneliness. I loved her character progression! She begins questioning everything she’s known and starts to self reflect. I really enjoy seeing a main character evolve and mature on page.
✨The found family element is top tier✨ Although many of the relationships begin hesitantly and are not without their struggles, Lennox comes to find deep and meaningful connections throughout the story. I was never bored with any of the supporting characters. Amanda did such an amazing job highlighting each individual’s personality and their proximity to the story. I found myself smiling or laughing out loud multiple times as I read their interactions.
✨THE ROMANCE✨ The romance is so so so GOOD… also, Hello to my newest book boyfriend. 🔥😉
This book had two of my favorite romance elements: TENSION and FORCED PROXIMITY 🤤
We also got a bit of 🌶️ juuuuuust enough.
I devoured this book in 2 days and would highly recommend this series to fantasy romance lovers!
Waiting for book 3 will be a struggle, but I am excited to continue the series.
This series just keeps getting better!! In this unique Peter Pan retelling sequel, so much is revealed and THE SLOW BURN IS REAL.
In book one, Dawn of Hope, we find our isolated and overprotected FMC princess, Lennox, searching for a cure for her mother. She then finds herself on a magical island that harbors the cure but also has a mind of its own. Book one is sweet and gentle but then BOOK TWO…
Blade of Truth had me in a chokehold from the prologue. The hidden identities, the new chosen family, the plot twists, and THE TENSION. Holy moly, Amanda brought such a good dynamic between our two love interests and it was a delightful enemies to lovers romance full of banter and one bed perfection.
I enjoyed how through the forced proximity in this sequel we got to know a cast of characters that are lovable, unique, and hilarious. Lennox grows so much in these pages and what felt like upper YA in book one definitely is NOT in this one. The NA is on point. The angst, pining, and spice were just so perfect. Amanda had me shaking the book in dire impatience and swooning so often! I am in desperate NEED of book three because that ending was so GOOD but left me wanting more, more, more.
Tropes you may find in BOT are enemies to lovers, one bed, tension, age gap, forbidden love, wound care, protective burnt cinnamon roll MMC, plot twists, forced proximity, hidden identities, chosen family, medium spice, magical island, and a delicious sloooooow burn.
Amanda, thank you so much for this gifted arc. I cannot wait to continue your series!
🗡️I absolutely adored the first book in this trilogy, and I somehow loved this one even more! The world that the author has created is so lush, magical, vibrant and captivating- she truly pulls you right into the pages, and immerses you in the story. And I mean… it’s a Peter Pan retelling with slow burn romance, enemies to lovers vibes, and tension FOR DAYS. 😮💨 How could I not fall in love?? 🗡️Blade Of Truth is an epic follow up installment, that takes the gorgeous worldbuilding, plot twists, and character development from Dawn Of Hope, and kicks them up a notch. Or rather MANY notches. We find our FMC, Lennox, in the hands of her enemy, having a full on identity crisis, digging deep to find her strength and resolve her problems. Her growth as a character was one of my favorite parts about this book- I found her to be so relatable and inspiring. I also loved the found family aspect of her journey, and connected with so many of the side characters. 🗡️And as for the chemistry with Lennox and the MMC… 🔥 The banter. The forced proximity. The ONE BED. It was all working for me. There’s definitely an uptick in spice in this one, and I feel like the next book will be even spicier. 🗡️This book was filled with so many secrets & revelations, and twist & turns- I was truly on the edge of my seat. It was a riveting romantasy with action AND heart. I cannot wait to see how everything plays out in the final book!
🙏🏼THANK YOU to the author for this beautiful review copy!! 🥹
Blade of Truth picks up immediately after the events of Dawn of Hope (book 1). Lennox grapples with her new circumstances as she faces the many secrets and difficult truths uncovered during her time in Dawnlin.
Tropes: ⚠️Enemies to lovers 🚫Forbidden romance 🧑🧑🧒🧒Found family 🫂Forced proximity 🛏️One bed 🔥Slow burn 🌶️: open door
Lennox continues to learn about the magical island of Dawnlin. But with danger at every turn and time running out, she’s desperate for answers. Torn between her duty and her heart, will Lennox find what she seeks or will she remain lost forever?
Lennox is determined and fiercely protective. I enjoyed watching her continued growth and understanding of herself in her pursuit of the freedom to make her own choices. She’s finally found a sense of belonging and deepens her connection with her new allies. The back and forth banter with a certain broody mysterious MMC was so much fun.
Blade of Truth is a Peter Pan inspired tale brimming with adventure, forbidden romance, and brutal betrayals!
Huge thanks to Amanda Briar for the gifted ARC copy. This is my honest and voluntary review.
i got an arc for this book and HOLY MOLY. i loved the dynamic change when she’s on the ship instead of on the island.
i loved seeing how much lennox changed during this book. she learned a lot abt herself and abt true friendship. if mara was really her friend, she would not have thrown a dagger at her back. the found family in this book is one of my favorite parts. when she was realizing that the ppl on the ship actually care abt her for who she is as a person and not just another person looking for the waters.
i also think that it was interesting to see her betrayal when she finds out what is actually going on. you can really feel the conflict and her second guessing literally every decision she makes bc everyone is lying to her.
SWEET BABY FIN I LOVE HIM SO MUCHHHHH!!!!! literally i would die for him.
anyway, at first i thought that the prologue was weston so i was a little weirded out when he was found to be a love interest bc if he loved her mom than i feel like that’s weird. BUT i was wrong thank god. now i absolutely stan weston and i am so excited to read more of him and lennox.
i hope the next book they find they’re way home and weston puts her dad in his place bc he makes me MADDD. but i also dk how to feel abt her being with her dads best friend. idk i guess ill have to read the next to figure it out!!!
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Thankfully book 2 has a much better clip to it then Book 1. I will say Lennox was excruciatingly annoying the first 33% of the book. To the point where I thought the series was a bust, but reading another review said her behavior got better so I pushed through and thankfully the review I read was right. The blind trust Lennox has with Dane is a big part of the storyline but it was written to the point where it made the FMC annoying.
Once I got through the first 3rd of the book, the series FINALLY started to come together. As Lennox joined the voyagers . So much of this plot is Lennox separating truth from lies, who to trust and her understanding her draw to Weston.
The romance is a good slow burn with lots of tension. The one bed which forced their proximity was amazing. The last third of the book completely made up for all of book 1 dragging. I loved all the Voyagers and seeing Lennox truly understand what a friendship is. Her growth in this book was beautiful to read.
Tropes: -One bed -Forced proximity -Found family -Hidden identities
From the first page of this series, I was completely pulled me in. I already loved book one, but this sequel took everything to another level!! One of my favorite books of all time.
The stakes were higher, the emotions were stronger, and I could not turn the pages fast enough.
Lennox is trapped with the enemy. Getting their leader to trust her is the only way to gain the upper hand, but the more she learns about those around her, the harder it becomes to separate truth from lies.
The dynamic between the two love interests was EVERYTHING. The tension, the chemistry, and the way they constantly challenged each other made their relationship one of my favorites ever.
The writing was incredible and fully immersed me in the world. There were so many twists and intricate details that fit together perfectly. Every moment felt intentional, and I loved how everything unfolded.
I would give this 6 stars if I could!! God where to begin!! The tropes that are in this book, delivers!!! The forced proximity and banter doesn’t miss! The MMC Weston is my absolute favorite book boyfriend. The yearning, the angst, the cinnamon roll of a character leaves me wanting more! That’s pretty much how this whole series is, it means me wanting MORE!! With Lennox, we got some found family in the first book but it’s nothing like what we get in this book!! I felt cozy experiencing this found family in book 2 whereas in book 1, it was lacking a little, but that is purposeful and you can tell. Everything that you felt you missed in book 1 is PURPOSEFUL!! Because you get it all so much more in depth in book 2!
If you’re a Powerless fan like I am then this book is for you!!
Look I loved this book so much I read it twice before I could leave this review.
It’s sort of inspired by Peter Pan. Has Peter Pan elements. Look it’s Peter Pan for adults.
I read a lot. I can usually kinda guess where a book is going. My goldfish slipped out of my mouth because this book surprised me. Surprised my old ass. So we have a winner in surprising me and a winner because it’s just that well written.
You have one bed, you have a hot villain, you have age gap, you have EVERYTHING. It’s in adventure it’s a strong FMC. All of that is here and it’s well written.
I love this book. I’m following the author and counting down until the next book and she hasn’t even announced it yet.
Dawn of Hope was an amazing introduction to the Dawnlin mystical world and light Peter Pan retelling but Amanda really found her stride in the second book Blade of Truth. As a fan of Peter Pan and Hook this series has been a fresh new take on a mystical island that screams Neverland and made me want to yell Bangarang!
In Blade of Truth you pick up right from that amazing cliff hanger in book one. The imagery and world building of the magical island and ship had me intrigued and wanting to jump more into the world. The character banter and development had me deeply attached and invested in their lives. You get the enemies to lovers, forbidden romance, forced proximity and one bed tropes to yours hearts content with a plot twist that hooked me so deep I could not put the book down! This is a slow burn but I'll tell you the burn was SO good and worth every page!
Thanks Amanda for an advance reader copy and giving me a chance to fall even more in love with your mystical world and characters! Now to patiently wait for book three!
Book 2 picks right up where book 1 left off and man, did it hit all the feels! First off, I love Lennox. Her journey and her growth in this book was chefs kiss. The lies and betrayals that she has endured and the secrets that she has found out left me with my jaw on the floor. The romance in this was fire, and I was secretly cheering for it to blossom. The spice was just enough and the ending, OMG!! I was sucked into this book from page 1. I dont want to give too much away, but go read this series! You won't be disappointed.
Thank you, Amanda, for the early copy. It did not disappoint! Your writing from the first book (still really good) to this book grew so much, and im so excited for you! Miss ma'am I need book 3 now 🤣 I can't with that ending....
I stayed up late reading 𝑫𝒂𝒘𝒏 𝒐𝒇 𝑯𝒐𝒑𝒆 and 𝑩𝒍𝒂𝒅𝒆 𝒐𝒇 𝑻𝒓𝒖𝒕𝒉 - Books 1 & 2 of The Dawnlin Trilogy and it was so worth it! This was my first Peter Pan retelling and I’m obsessed! Amanda created such a unique magical world for FMC Princess Lennox to travel to with the help of Dane aka Peter Pan in Book 1. But what happens when she spends more time with Captain Hook in Book 2? You’ll have to read it to find out! Blade of Truth was incredible with its twists and turns, found family and enemies to lovers at its finest 🔥.
Highly recommend this series that is available on KU and final book will be out later this year! 💚
𝑻𝒓𝒐𝒑𝒆𝒔:
💙 Peter Pan retelling 💚 Slow burn Found family 💚 Secret identity 💙 Enemies to lovers 💚 Only one bed 💙 Forced proximity 💚 Forbidden romance
My favorite tropes are enemies to lovers, forbidden romance, force proximity and slow burn. THIS HAD IT ALL AND WAS EVERYTHING I WANTED IT TO BE AND MORE🥵 I have never been transported into a fantasy world so quickly as I was with Dawnlin! The world building is phenomenal between both books and the character development is literally perfect. I feel like I know Lennox as well as I know my friends. I cried, laughed, giggled and blushed along with her this whole book! I was also praying that I wasn’t falling in love with the wrong man (don’t judge, we’ve all been there😅). The plot twists gave me whiplash in the best way and I did not see ANY OF IT COMING!!!!! Amanda, this book is perfection🫶🏻💙
Thank you Amanda & team for sending me an ARC copy and letting me share my thoughts early!
I ate this book up. 545 pages of pure addiction. I couldn’t put this down (sorry to my boss I have gotten nothing done at work the last 2 days). I’m so glad how this book turned out. I will admit I was a bit nervous because the first book felt a bit YA, but not this one. So much of the first book just makes sense now!! The tension in this one was palpable and that ending.. yepppp. I really enjoyed the expansion of the characters and getting to know their stories… and secrets ;) That ending cliffhanger though, ouch, make me want to scream for the next book more why don’t you.
Thank you Amanda for letting me be apart of your arc team!
The book starts off with jumping right back into dawnlin after the ending events in book 1. WOW did the twist in this book have me shocked and saying I knew a part of it was going to happen! The ending took me by surprise and left me with my jaw open. I really liked how Lennox character development grew in this second book and realizing she can’t always trust other people but she has to trust her gut instincts. I also liked how she ended up finding true friends who she could be just Lennox around not out of just being a princess. I can’t wait for book 3 I need to find out how this all ends!
This Romantasy is the definition of slow burn, enemies to lovers and my oh myyyy did it spark, catch fire and BURN AT THE END!!!! I was actually blushing because of the things this man sayyyys to her!!! If you love tropes like one bed, forced proximity, delicious sloww burn (don’t worry you get FED in this book!), found family, secret identities, even more secret identities, jaw dropping truths, confusing magical island + mystery + high stake quests, doing whatever it takes to save the ones you love and of course a freaking cliffhanger, then you will adore the first two books of The Dawnlin Trilogy.
Book 1 was really good, but book 2?!?! How is this book not more popular?! I’m usually picky about pacing and descriptive writing: they were 👌 Pirates of the Caribbean/Peter Pan vibes. Lots of yearning and tension. Glad the MCs were 21 and 27 I’m sick of 18 year olds lol. I also liked the FMC wasn’t like a super badass/magical powers girl like sometimes it’s nice to have more of a “regular” person character if that makes sense 😆 Some of the twists I predicted but I still was so wound up in the story I couldn’t put it down! I need the 3rd book NEOW.
Blade of Truth This story completely swept me away. I couldn't put it down—the slow burn romance had me hooked from the very first chapter. There’s a whimsical, nostalgic Peter Pan vibe woven throughout, yet it feels entirely fresh and original. The world-building is enchanting, the characters are so easy to fall in love with, and the emotional depth hits just right. A truly one-of-a-kind read that stays with you long after the last page. 🌟 Highly recommend to anyone who loves adventure, heart, and a touch of timeless wonder. Don’t miss this one!
If you are a Disney girly this book is for you! The Dawnlin trilogy is a creative take on the world of Peter Pan so you will notice similarities between this world and Neverland but Amanda does a good job of making Dawnlin unique.
This book is a slow burn, enemies to lovers fantasy romance that does have some spice to it. (If you read the first one this one does have more spice and is less YA). If spice is not your thing there are many cute moments between the two main characters (like the dancing scene-iykyk) that will tug at your heart strings!
I liked that this book brought up more past event and we got to know the backstory between Weston and Dane and the Voyagers vs. the Castaways. Additionally we got to learn more about a lot of the characters from the first book- Dane, Weston, and Sig to name just a few.
Books always stand out to me when I cannot predict the ending and this was one that I didn’t see coming! I am super excited about the next book in the trilogy and need it to be out ASAP!
I would recommend for people who like: - Disney/ Peter Pan - fantasy romances - slow burns - enemies to lovers - found family - creative world building
Thank you Amanda for picking me to be part of your ARC team!
This book. Wow! I loved Dawn of Hope, but Blade of Truth reeled me in! I’ve always been a sucker for fairy tales, and this book is the best I’ve read as an adult. I love the characters (um hello Weston), the world of Dawnlin and all the secrets it holds. I will anxiously await the final book. But until then I’ll be replaying this book in my head. Made my top 5 for the year so far without a doubt!
Honestly, I don't understand or know how this was such a drop in quality compared to the first book in the trilogy.
The protagonist lost all her personality and became an insufferable dumb mess unable to think clearly or have some sort of prevision.
The change of male was the aspect that initially appealed to me the most but he and Lennox had no sort of chemistry and I was dreading their interactions.
