This is so good! Keira is a twenty-four year old healer who has been providing and caring for her twin brother and sister since her parent’s death some years ago. For six years Lucas, the local priest, had been asking Kiera to marry her, and she had been saying no. After the intervention of her fifteen year old brother Scott, when Kiera again refused his proposal, Lucas decided to force her hand by declaring her a witch. Running through the woods from a mob carrying torches and pitchforks, Kiera ran into Noah Black, Laird MacAllen…literally. He faced down the mob, dismissed Lucas’s claim, and ordered them off his land. Then he brought Kiera back to the castle to recuperate and asked her to leave as soon as she was physically able. When her brother and sister showed up looking for her, Noah asked Kiera to be the castle’s healer and stay until the ship that she wanted to board to leave Scotland docked in four weeks. Before the ship arrives there are fighting lessons, volitale conversations, sinister accusations and actions, terrifying moments and some passionate encounters. The characters range from evil and misguided to loyal and loving. This story is exciting, emotional, steamy, heartbreaking and hard to put down. Loved it!
- it’s been a while since I’ve read a medieval Highlander story. This used to be my favorite genre, but as I said it’s been a while. I’m also not familiar with this author so maybe it’s just this book but I through the style in which she wrote was redundant and distracting at times. It trades off point of views, but the author will write out a scene and then brake off into italics for a thought, but it’s really just repeating what she’s already written and I thought it was all her “thoughts”. Either way the story is constantly repeating itself. So not much ever happens.
I did like the story, their meet cute and him rescuing her was nice.
But my second and biggest issue is the characters feel almost dumb at times. I tried to be understanding, obviously this is a much different time period and logically their education is lacking compared to any modern day character. But I tried to think of the many other books I’ve read in this genre and I’ve never had this complaint before or felt it to be a distracting character trait.
These two things made the story difficult to finish, let alone enjoy.
Noah, Laird MacAllen lives with the worry of becoming like his father. So, he doesn’t let anyone close. That is until he rescues a healer in the woods from a mob who believes her to be a witch. Keira, is young and beautiful and pursued by a priest who lusts for her. When he can’t have her, he accuses her of being a witch. She had no choice but to run, unknowingly, straight into the arms of Noah. I loved this story as much as the first one. The characters are well developed, drawn to each other and fun. Keira just wants to help people, protect her siblings, and find love. Noah wants to protect her from those who pursue her and from himself. Can’t wait for the next book. I hope it is Murdoch’s story.
Actually, it's a 2.5. The story was good and the characters were interesting. However, the proofreading and editing were non-existent. "He asked me to marry me" is just one example of how poorly this was edited. It's annoying when you have to go back and re-read a sentence to make sense of it and then realize it doesn't make any sense at all. Also, I don't like having to give an email address to get the prologue and then give it again to get the extended epilogue. I already get Ms. Kendall's newsletters. Why would I sign up 2 more times? I didn't get the prologue or extended epilogue for that reason. Please reconsider requiring this from your readers.
A really interesting book from the beginning! I loved how Noah & Keira were together for most of the book. I also loved that they was no talk of women from the past & didn't seem to be any. I also appreciate the way Scott loved his sisters & wanted to protect them. & I love seeing Jack & Abigail again & how they both helped Noah.
Though I feel like the book lost something towards the end. & a bit to much misery & I really wish events chapter 36 & the epilogue were switched. I did love how draw together they were & fun to read for most of the book.
Noah was a Laird, a good one. He believed that he would never fall in love because he had his father’s heart. His father was mean, to everyone and was the cause of Noah’s mother’s death. One day in the woods of his land a group of people and a man of the cloth were chasing down Kiera , claiming her as a witch. He saved her and brought her to his castle. She was the most beautiful woman he’d ever seen, but he couldn’t love her , ever, he had his father’s blood. But things change, people change other people, or do they?
This book started off with bang. It is a book you don't want to put down. The priest in this small town was interested in Korea and would not leave her alone. The priest called her a witch and everybody believed him. She ran through the forest as to get away from the mob. And she runs into a big strong man. He is the laird of that clan and he does not want people on his land. He protects the young lady and dares anyone to fellow them. They go to his castle and they talk.
I thoroughly enjoyed this adventurous journey in the lives of Noah and Keira, the plot, betrayal, loyalty, humor, action, all the characters very well written and especially the love between both Noah and Keira with their siblings truly heartfelt. So again this is a very good read where love really do conquer all. I'm hoping Camden and Murdoch will have their story, just saying 😇 what would " Falling for Highland Villains "be without their story 😍😍 again just saying!!!
Keira I running from a mob led by Priest Lucas Macphee. He calls her a witch. She is rescued by Laird Noah. He believes she is a healer and not a witch and lets her and her siblings live at his castle until they head to America. The priest will not give up and convinces people that she had healed that she is evil. A battle pursues. laird Noah cannot love or take a bride for the right reasons. This who!e story has action and the siblings are involved. Great story
When he saves a healer from being burned at the stakes a journey begins. Keira agrees to go with Noah only she has a condition of her own. This story drew me in and had me cheering for these two as they make a connection. Will these two heal each other and will Noah find out that he really does has a heart. I am volunteering to leave a review for an ARC of this book.
Lydia Kendall has written a story of a Laird too afraid to love and wed due to his father's cruelty. A story of a young lass accused of witchcraft that Noah saves. Their story is such a good one, a story of two strong personalities that will pull you into their lives. Such a good book, thank you Lydia for this book!
WOW … what a lovely read! There’s family love, a scenes of foreboding, danger and a saving grace to make this an exciting read. With colorful characters and some dire situations mixed in with highland life and you can’t help but turn the page to see what’s next!
Lydia Kendall brings this hot steamy story to life. With strong characters who are so attracted to one another, you will not be able to put this one down. Much, much, more to this story, be prepared for a fabulous read.
A fabulous highland tale of a Brave Laird who saved a lass fleeing for her life. Irresistibly drawn to her healing arts, he overcomes his fears to battle for her heart and they find redemption through their love.
As always this author delivers a story of love and romance worth reading again and again. Once I began reading I couldn't put it down. This story has all the ingredients and captures the heart and mind of readers from the beginning to the end.
Wow, such a beautiful story, I had all I could do to put it away when I went to bed. I want to keep reading this amazing book. What will become of them , read the book and all will be told.
Book 2 was very good. It was nice that they had the people from Book 1 through out this book. Also it was great to see that Amelia was very happy with her husband she was forced to marry.
I find these books somewhat entertaining, however they don't feel like medieval romance novels. The story line is there, but the interactions and behavior between the characters is more of a contemporary romance.
