Mated by Twilight

Rate this book
Leah already had her entire life upended once when she ran from her super religious family and the marriage that they wanted for her, what's one more time to chase after the man that True Match says is her soulmate? Except, he's not a man at all, he's an alien. And he's not on a planet at all, he's an actor traveling through space. And he's not just one person - he's two. This might be too different for her after all.

Sollit and Tillos are brothers - twins, in fact. As all avanava males are. They share a career, a heart, and a goal - to find and pamper their mate as their fathers did for their mother. That would finally make all their dreams complete. The pretty human they're matched to is beautiful but hurting. Shy, uncertain, and cautious, they can see something happened in her past. But she's with them now, and their new goal is to adore and love her until she loves herself again.

Mated by Twilight is part of True Match, a series of stand alone books that can be read in any order. This is a MFM romance written for those who are new to reverse harem(RH)/why choose (WC) romances. As this is a hurt/comfort book, there is a heavy emphasis on consent, care, and, of course, comfort without sacrificing any spice.

This book was ok. I liked the alien species. I didn’t like the weird dependence the men seemed to want from the FMC. Like to the point of her being a doll. Being able to hum/purr/growl her into submission was definitely icky for me - she wasn’t able to tell them what was wrong because they wouldn’t let her out of her weird stupor and that made me uncomfortable and it seemed really unnecessary.

My expectations were high after reading Alien Baller, and I was disappointed.

This was a very talky book. The characters talked a lot, about everything. They talked so much that they started repeating themselves.

The two men did not have distinctive personalities.

The fact that their mother was totally out of it was off putting, but even more off putting was that they didn’t mind. Their epitome of a great relationship is one where the female is barely engaged with reality. Who cares if it’s a choice? Doesn’t it say something disturbing about them if they don’t care if their female can talk to them or understands what’s going on around her?

3.25⭐️ the author said she wanted to write a RH/menage for beginners and I think she succeeded in that very well. This was only my second MFM book I have read and I was coming to terms about two mates just like FMC Leah was.

Leah (19yo ?) has escaped from her ultra conservative religious family on Earth by signing up for True Match marriage service that 5-10% of the time matches humans also with aliens. And Leah gets mated to alien twins Sollit and Tillos who are both actors on a space ship.

Sollit and Tillos are not like regular twins as they have a far stronger connection than human twins. For example they can feel each other’s emotions. And in their culture twins mate one single female.

The MMCs are both sweet and have their own distinct personalities which I loved. FMC is a naive, shy and very innocent virgin but luckily this book and MMCs give her plenty of time to figure herself and her marriage out. So I liked the relationship development a lot and it felt organic.

However, my issues with the book were more with the sex scenes as they felt a bit weird at times. The MMCs can hum in a way that relaxes her to the point that she can easily deep throat one of them while the other takes her anally. And in the end she cannot breathe anymore which was bit too much for me. It felt a bit that when she was overwhelmed, they would hum her to the point where they can continue however they want and she is in a state where she cannot even move her muscles really. That felt like questionable consent to me because it was not like they asked her “do you wanna be hummed to a noodle state of mind?”, they just did it. I personally prefer 100% consent kings as my MMCs.

Also, lot of time is spent on the plays and acting the MMCs and eventually also FMC does. While it was an interesting plot for an alien book, in the end I was just skipping the parts about the acting cos it just felt too much.

There is a third act external drama/action which was expected and felt fine for the plot. And overall I loved seeing Leah come out of her shell and shine. The MMCs were also very supportive and loving towards her, although I would not wanna end up in the comatose relaxed state the MMCs’ mother lives in 😂 über relaxation might not be my life goal…

👾Sci-fi romance
👾MFM
👾Twin brothers (aliens)
👾Green flag consent kings
👾Shy, virginal FMC with religious trauma
👾Cultural Miscommunication
👾Written for: Drama and stage nerds
👾Stand alone
👾Spice: 🌶️🌶️🌶️

So if you are someone who was a drama kid, someone who loved working the stage be it behind the scenes or front and center, or maybe you just love musicals and the idea of performance as a career, this book’s backdrop is made for you. The MMCs are part of a performance group who put on plays with singing etc as their career, traveling across the universe and being very popular.

Enter the FMC, very shy, running from her life on earth. She grew up in a strict religious sect that was abusive, as was her father. She ran from an arranged marriage and was like “YOLO, imma marry an alien” and bing bang boom off she goes into the universe and plot.

The MMCs are total green flags. This is cozy, cuddly, low angst, with most of the drama left for the stage. The story centers on her acclimating to an alien world and alien mates and friends. There’s a lot of funny lines about our cultures on earth, misogyny, and periods.

The 3rd act drama is external.
Predictable but that’s fine. There’s a lottttt of paragraphs and pages of internal monologues and descriptions. For my and my chaotic brain, it got slow and boring. Because I am NOT a drama kid or someone who enjoys plays/musicals, the overall plot backdrop was wasted on me. I enjoyed the book and the characters but I ended up skimming a lot of the play drama stuff.

Also the word “chuckle” in all its various forms is used 71 times. So there’s that.

The two heroes are twins. In their alien culture, boy twins are always together and work, live, and have one wife together. Under the law, they are one person.

The heroine was raised in a very strict religious environment. She has never kissed a guy or had sex. She is shocked her mate is actually two guys. She thought it was a translation error.

The guys are famous stage actors. She goes to live on the spaceship where they all live and work with the entire troupe of actors. They like pampering her, feeding her, massaging her, etc.

There was a funny scene after they all have intercourse where she bled due to losing her hymen/virginity. They thought she was seriously injured and rushed her to the medical bay

To be honest, I much preferred the earlier books in the series. I just don't like more than one guy being her mate.

Tedious, DNF at 50%

I stopped and started this story waiting for it to pick up, it didn't. Leah (heroine) is dull, I didn't understand her characterisation, why say she left a cult 5 years ago when she still behaves like she was there yesterday??

It reads to me like the MMCs would have actually been interesting if Leah didn't keep blowing their candles out, so to speak. Why oh why would you agree to marry aliens and not read up on their species?? Leah had plenty of time, there is no excuse.

We get the same information repeated over and over in different settings. That makes a sleep inducing book even more so. The upsetting thing is descriptions of "alien" things is interesting, found my mind trying to build a picture. Then the rest let it down for me.

Holy SPICE Batman! This universe always has some excellent alien spice but this book was NEXT LEVEL! First- some massive red flags. I know it’s a romance novel and usually we ignore the red flags because we know in the end the couple is perfect together. Even knowing that, the whole purring her into a mostly comatose state where she’s literally incapable and unwilling to protest or even speak is a huge ick for me. It’s removing her own will completely and I didn’t like that. Aside from that, I absolutely devoured this one. Loved the 2 males who were so devoted they pampered her constantly. And I loved how out of her mind feral she was for them because they were that good at working her up. Some insanely hot scenes in here 🥵🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️

This one was ok. I thought Leah had more depth and more character growth than either of the guys did. The background characters weren’t really highlighted or used much. There wasn’t that much of a plot, so the book dragged at times. It’s a slower burn with no steam until about half way. Steam had a little spice there is obvi two of them, slightly weird peen, dp but no dvp. I didn’t like how out of it the mom was and how that was a goal they had for Leah? That’s weird and uncomfortable. It felt culty like her background. The religious aspects were interesting and seemed pretty true to fundamentalists I’ve known.

I’ve read one other book like this (shout of Tiffany Robert) and I really love the twin premise more than I thought I would. But need to echo what everyone else is saying… the purr is weird! I didn’t like how she was put in a state that she couldn’t even voice what was wrong or communicate properly. That is really fucked up.

It’s obvious in the writing style that the author is paid by the amount of pages read—there are tons of superfluous chunks and repetitive information that dumbs down the storyline. That being said, it was a fun little romp.

It was ok. A lot of religious trauma and healing and A LOT of focus on “feeding” her, which just gave me the ick. I’m usually a fan of RH or WC, but this was just meh.
