The Mafioso’s Promise

Rate this book
The moment the seductive mafia princess stepped into my boxing gym, I knew I was done for.

The closer we got, the deeper I fell under her spell.

And when she confessed her desire to leave her sinister life behind, I vowed to protect her at all costs.

Even if it meant trading in my boxing gloves for a gun.

Even if it meant putting everything I held dear on the line.

Even if it meant breaking the promise I made to my dying mother and unleashing the darkness within me.

She never expected me to keep her in the dark for as long as I did.

I never expected her to hate me for it.

But every lie and secret was worth it.

Because for Serafina, I would do anything - even descending into the depths of hell itself.

Now, as she stands before me as my arranged bride-to-be, will she ever forgive me for the monster I've become?

this book hit me different, i loved the hispanic culture and how it was used about in the story. a good cartel/mafia romance with a lot of suspense kept the story intriguing. my heart felt so heavy for serafina multiple times during the story because i loved her personality as a character so so much!
Lucas bravery and loyalty was shocking, i couldn’t believe how much he was willing to do to be with the girl he loved, but i enjoyed reading every part of it.

She walked into the room…the boxing gym…and it would change their lives forever.

Lucas’ mother had done everything she could to keep him free of the mafia that surrounds him, but he will sacrifice everything for Serafina. His father remains a mystery, but I had a pretty good idea

I wondered how things would work out for Lucas, but he is quick on his feet and determined to sever the ties that bind him, since he traded his freedom to be near Serafina. The machinations he goes through while striving for a happy ever after are life threatening. After all, the mafia has a saying, ‘once you’re in you’re never out.

Serafina has her doubts about Lucas, but she cannot quash the love she has for him, no matter how many times he lets her down.

There was much that was predictable in The Mafioso’s Promise, but it, also, had it’s share of mystery. I felt for Lucas, the choices he would have to make and the price he would pay to have Serafina. We do have a mafia war going on, but Jade Styles does not go in depth with the bloody details, though many bodies will fall. She concentrates more on the romance and everything Lucas and Serafina will have to go through to be together.

The Mafioso’s Promise by Jade Styles is the first book in The Fallen Angel series, so I foresee more problems popping up in the future for Lucas and Serafina.

A book about the Mexican-Italian mafia, a spicy romance, and strong characters. It seemed like an ordinary novel about the mafia where the female main character falls in love with a mere mortal who is a boxer, but it's not that simple... The chapters are quite short so it's very easy to read, but be prepared for intrigue and plot twists, because there are a lot of them! Review contains possible spoilers to the plot!

Seraphina is a lady boss, and she's a gorgeous woman, for sure. But her family is a bit strange or mysterious in some places, because she has to get married to enemy, but here she says that being single is a kind of investment in the future and her father agrees... but for me, it's very cool that they informed her about Lucas, even though they knew about him, and didn't just get rid of Lucas, that is, they were looking for a solution together, like a real family.

At times, I just couldn't keep up with the dynamism of the events in the book and I was like, "OMG, so it's not as simple as expected" or "OH MY GOD! I KNEW IT! I TOLD YOU THIS WOULD HAPPEN". I was overwhelmed with emotions when I was reading, because I became very attached to the characters.

Raul and Nora are just incredible!!! These two are ready to do anything for each other, and for the sake of Lucas' happiness, of course, which is very warming. And the friendship of Nora and Serafina is a separate love of this book, that is, strangers by blood became like sisters. I really liked the ending of this story, it fits perfectly and the emotions of the main characters are perfectly written and the intrigue is left for dessert, which makes the book interesting until the end. I highly recommend reading this book because the story is truly unique. I also want a separate story about Dominic🤧.

This was a delicious little insta-love, mafia romance!

I loved the tension within Serafina’s family and the rival mafia family. I also really loved all the alliances that were created within this book; I can’t wait to see where those end up in the coming books in the series.

I loved how quickly Lucas fell for Serafina, and how quickly he was willing to do anything to be with her, including compromising his own past goals. We love a man who will do anything for his woman!

I loved Paz! She was the mother Serafina deserved, but she was also this secret baddie! Such a perfect combination for her role in this book.

I did think there would be a bit more spice in the book, but I’m just greedy 😊

Thank you to Jade Styles for the opportunity to read this book. The thoughts and opinions expressed above are honest and my own.

3.5 stars!

The forbidden love in this book was definitely a journey of its own, and there’s so many characters I wish and hope to be able to read more about because there were so many “ what the fouck “ moments. If you need a beginning story to introduce you to mafia romances I’d definitely suggest this ! I’d like to say this book has some suspense into it cause there’s moments when you’re like….uhhhh…huuuuuh…OHHHHH OH SNAP WHAT ( my exact reactions )

First off, thank you to the author for sending me a free copy of the book in exchange for an honest review. I do love a good mafia romance.

There’s a lot of promise here, especially with the mafia princess/good boy boxer, forbidden love story. I loved the multicultural aspect of the book. The story had great bones, and I could see how, with some deeper development, it could have been a great read. However, I found myself wanting more. The character growth and relationships largely happened off-page, making it difficult to fully connect with anyone. The transition from boxer to mafia sicario, for example, felt abrupt. I would have loved to see more of that transformation. Where did his knowledge come from when he JUST joined the mafia life?

That said, I admire the ambition of the story, and I think with more time spent fleshing out the character arcs and relationships between all the characters, this could have been a pretty good read. If you enjoy a fast-paced mafia romance, this one might be worth checking out.

Review of "The mafioso's promise" by @jade_styles_romance ❤️‍🔥

📌Tropes:
❤️‍🔥Multicultural romance (she is Italian and he has Mexican blood)
❤️‍🔥Off limits
❤️‍🔥Mafia romance
❤️‍🔥Possesive MMC and Curvy FMC

📌 Puntuation:
4.7/5 ⭐ 3/5 🌶️ 5/5 🩷

📌 Personal opinion:
I wouldn't know where to start commenting on this book, but I do know that it surprised me and I fell in love.

The author's writing is super easy to read, it is a book that contains tropes that I had not read before and I was surprised by how well she has developed throughout the book.

The plot of the book captivates you from the beginning to the end, I found Lucas to be such a devoted and tender character, which was super nice to read, Serafina is a sensitive but at the same time brave character and I loved the evolution of both of them and their romance

Many times I asked myself questions about what would happen next and those questions were answered perfectly at the right moment. Including other narrators but without them taking center stage was very good since it helps to understand other points of view.

In conclusion, the book is quite enjoyable, it contains short chapters, the plot grabs you from the beginning, the plot twists are excellent and the tropes are dealt with effectively. If you have the opportunity to read the author, I recommend reading it, you will will surprise.

🏷️Thank you for giving me the opportunity to read it Jade, it was amazing.

This was a really unique book, and I am really grateful to Jade for reaching out to me to read it!! Serafina was such an interesting FMC, and getting to watch her grow and see what really wants out of her own life was really fascinating! Watching her adapt to the situations that she finds herself trapped in and still be able to connect with the people that she loves and trusts is truly beautiful! And Lucas's determination to protect Sera, no matter the costs was so heartbreaking. Seeing him do anything necessary to take care of her, including change who he was, was swoony in the best ways! These two were put through so much to try and be together and it was so crazy to see the threads of this story be woven back and forth together. For a relatively short book, the plot lines of this book took some crazy turns, but in the end I really enjoyed how the story unraveled and how it all came together. I really appreciated how the author portrayed the time jumps within the story as well! Sometimes with shorter books, the timelines can get wonky, but I felt like she did a really good job of showing the time jumps without leaving the reader confused as to what was happening. On the whole, there was only one piece of the story that I wish had had more explanation, but I'm hoping we get it in a future book. Overall, I really enjoyed this book and I feel like if you're at all into mafia romances, it's absolutely worth the read!! 4.25 stars; 2.75 chili peppers

This is Mafia Romance, I would say it's more off Limits than enemies to lovers.
Lucas and Serafina have instant attraction. But Lucas is trying to live a clean life as a boxer and owning his own Gym. He hopes to help children from rough side to have a safe space and away from the bad stuff. He was quite passionate, caring and loyal. He promised his mother he would stay away from Mafia life before she died. He wishes his mum told him who his father was.
Serafina is Mafia princess and she really wants out and live a normal life. She knows she has to sacrifice and marry for family. She showed strength and stood up for herself.
They both fall for each other and he is ready to stand up to her family for her. But unfortunately her family have already arranged her marriage.
Then her mum tells Lucas he won't marry her but he can be near her by being the family hitman. I did think that was a weird move in my opinion. It didn't make sense, then he kind of moved up ranks quite quickly.
Once you're in you can't get out.
Now Lucas and Serafina are in a race to try and escape this life without losing their life, soul and love.
There are lots of twists and some of the parts make sense after the revelations.
The action isn't written in too much depth nor the Spicy scenes. It was an enjoyable read.

Lucas lost his mom when he was younger. When he tried asking her who his father was, she died. He has never known who his father is. Lucas owns a boxing gym and helps kids with after school care - teaching them about boxing. Lucas is hispanic, and has a lot of hispanic influence in his life. He has never had anything to do with the Mexican mafia / gangs in the area. He's always stayed clear of them.

Serafina is an Italian Mafia princess. She walks into Lucas's boxing gym one day wanting lessons. Lucas isn't too sure about this as he knows at first glance she's going to be trouble. But, trouble that he can't take his eyes off of. Serafina does love plants and she travels to one of the local greenhouses not too far from Lucas's gym admiring all the plants. She wants to open up her own greenhouse one day.

The book has both Italian and Spanish words, phrases that the characters speak. Not all of those are translated into English - showing what they just said.

Where are they? In one paragraph / chapter they are in California. The next chapter they are in Miami? To me that was confusing, as you can't just drive from California to Miami in 20 minutes.

I did receive a free ARC copy of this book. I am freely leaving an honest review.

The Mafioso’s Promise offers an intriguing story on forbidden romance, blending an arranged marriage complication with an enemies-to-lovers dynamic. While it’s technically an enemies-to-lovers story, it doesn’t follow the usual formula—these two fall for each other fast but later become enemies due to mistrust and their complicated situation. Personally, I would’ve enjoyed more banter and tension early on, but the dynamic still worked by the end.

I loved the dual POV, but the side character chapters didn’t really grab my interest. That said, the story is well-written, and the author managed to pack a lot into a short book. It honestly could’ve been two books with everything going on!

One of my favorite aspects was the multicultural element, with the blend of Spanish and Italian cultures adding depth to the characters and their world. It gave the story a unique flavor that I really enjoyed.

The male lead's journey was another standout. Watching him evolve from sweet and protective to morally grey was fascinating, and the chemistry between the leads grew on me by the end. If you’re into dark mafia romances with complex relationships, emotional depth, and drama this is definitely worth a read.

This book was so good gave me all the feels! The connection these two had right from the start was so electric!

Serafina is a mafia princess.
Lucas is a boxing gym owner, he’s been doing great for himself even though he’s had every opportunity to join the mafia if he wanted too. But he made a promise to his mother before her passing that he would stay away from that life.
That was until Serafine walked into his gym one day……

Her parents found out and told her she needed to leave him alone because she doesn’t truly know “who he really is” 🤔
They also gave Lucas an ultimatum, leave their daughter alone or join their mafia team as their hitman.

Well…. What do you think he did?! 😬

The lengths this man would go to for Serafina!! Gah swoon worthy I’m telling you!

So much more happened after! Trust me at times I was mad and frustrated with Lucas 😂 but he redeemed himself, boy did he ever! 😍

I loved how fast pace it was, there was so much tension, so many surprise elements and even a little suspense! I just didn’t know what was going to happen and it had me on the edge of my seat! I was trying to piece it together telling myself “There’s no way he would just leave her, right!????” 😂🤦🏻‍♀️ I’m telling you, all in my feels!

Such a good story!
I can not wait for the second book about the brother 😏

The Mafioso's Promise

Oh, the things Lucas does for the woman he loves. Even if it means breaking the biggest promise of his life to his dying mother. There isn't one single thing that he wouldn't do for Serefina.

From her POV it looks like he gives up on them and abandons her, but he does everything in his power to get to her, to be with her and to make her "his wife."

I love it when it is not your typical Mafia Romance book where you get the Mafia man with a helpless innocent woman, but in this case you get the Mafia Princess that can handle herself. Although she has to do what her family says and this relationship is as forbidden as they come as she is to be betrothed to another, she can still hold her ground and stand up for herself.

I'm on my knees for the way he would unalive anyone who makes eye contact with Serefina in the wrong way. Not to even talk about the se-ex-ual tension. You know when he gives her a safe word it's going to be fire.

"I'm saying I did this for you, Serafina. To be near you. To breathe the same air as you."

This is the kind of love we crave, the undeniable, dangerous forbidden kind.

DNF @21%
This book had absolutely no on page development whatsoever. Like Lucas and Serafina literally went from being Trainer/Trainee to flirting within the span of maybe 2 weeks and we didn’t get to witness or read about the buildup whatsoever. It literally was like “a couple days go by and our tension keeps building” a couple days go by and we start texting and FaceTiming” like what??! I want to read about the characters forming their relationship not have to read it like that. Also idk this book was just really rushed and kinda just got right into everything and was surface level. Like serafina walked into his gym and it was love at first sight. We had absolutely no context whatsoever ever but let’s just jump right into their list for eachother? I had to stop after it said that serafina and Nora were now best friends when they literally interacted maybe twice and said maybe 5 words to eachother. Real best friend right there am I right?? There was honestly just too much off page development and awkwardness that made me dislike this story and not want to continue.

First, thank you to the author for offering a copy of the e-book in exchange for an honest review.

"But as long as I can be near you, even like this... it's worth it. You're worth it."

The Mafioso’s Promise had an intriguing premise with elements I usually love, like forbidden romance and intense chemistry. However, the pacing was too fast for me, which made it difficult to connect with the story and the main characters, Serafina and Lucas. The relationship development felt rushed, coming across as instalove due to the limited on-page moments. I liked the characters themselves and appreciated the longing and tension between them, but I found myself wishing for more depth and slower buildup to truly immerse myself in their journey.

Honestly, I would have considered DNF’ing at around 30% because the quick pace made it hard to stay engaged, and finishing the book was a bit of a struggle. While the spice was enjoyable, it couldn’t fully make up for the lack of connection and development.

Serafina must be protected at all costs..

A mafia leaders daughter who feels the need to have extra protection meets a boxing enthusiast who falls head first. Unfortunately the near future will test their trust, love and loyalties with everyone around them.

The Mafiosos promise was well scripted. The storyline was straight to the point but left you wanting more.
You could feel the emotions stemming from Serafina and Lucas right off the bat. I wasn’t sure how to interpret Serafina’s character at first as she seemed very reserved, understandable given her circumstances, but then she sprouted into an emotional spitfire. Lucas adored her in every way possible and did not want anyone to hurt his angel. The majority of the scenes made you feel like you were inside the room with the intensity of conversations and actions. I thoroughly enjoyed the diverse mix of Italian and Hispanic culture. It’s not something that I have read yet so it was very interesting. I felt that somethings were almost a mystery which left you guessing on them, but in the end almost all of them came together.

"Jade Styles delivers a captivating and pulse-pounding mafia romance with "The Mafioso's Promise." Lucas, a man bound by a tragic promise, finds himself irrevocably drawn to Serafina, a woman running from her own dangerous legacy. Their forbidden love ignites a dangerous game of cat and mouse, where loyalty is tested and betrayal lurks around every corner.

Serafina, a captivating heroine with a fiery spirit, is a force to be reckoned with. Lucas, driven by a fierce protectiveness, is willing to break his own rules to keep her safe. Their chemistry is electric, a slow-burn that explodes into a passionate and unforgettable romance.

The author masterfully blends thrilling action with moments of tender intimacy, creating a story that is both suspenseful and deeply moving. The exploration of their cultural backgrounds adds a unique layer of depth to their connection. "The Mafioso's Promise" is a must-read for fans of dark romance who crave a story that will keep them on the edge of their seats until the very last page."

A fast paced mafia romance that will question loyalties and love from beginning to end.

Lucas made a promise to his mother on her deathbed to stay away from the mafia and all that world entails. He held true to that promise until the day he laid eyes on Serafina. From the day she showed up at his gym for boxing lessons, Lucas was a goner. He quickly became her safe space and the one person she thought she could count on.

When mafia rules and alliances threaten to take her away from him, Lucas does the one thing he said he never would, get invoked in the underworld. Doing what he thought he had to protect Serafina, Lucas sets off on a dangerous path. Serafina gets bounced from one location to the next and is left feeling abandoned and second guessing everything.

Will these two find their way back to one another, or will the darkness overtake Lucas? Will Dominic and Don Martin ruin the future Lucas and Serafina want? Start reading today to find out!

Thanks to the author for sending me a copy in exchange for an honest review.

Okay, so this one is juicy. You’ve got a mafia princess, a hot boxer with a heart of gold, and enough tension to make you want to scream into a pillow. The Mafioso’s Promise is exactly what it says on the tin—a forbidden, arranged marriage romance packed with angst, action, and swoon.

Serafina is the daughter of a powerful crime family, stuck in a world of duty, danger, and secrets. Lucas? He’s a boxer who’s worked hard to build a clean life outside of that world. But when Serafina walks into his gym… it’s game over. Their chemistry is intense, and suddenly those neat lines between right and wrong, love and loyalty? Yeah, totally blurred.
Lucas is honestly one of the best parts of this book. He’s broody but kind, sexy but grounded, and so deeply protective of Serafina. And Serafina? She’s sharp, bold, and just trying to reclaim her life. The best part? They’re both messy in the best way.

That said, some of the relationship dynamics, especially secondary ones—could have used more time to breathe. Certain friendships (like Serafina and Nora's) felt like they developed off-page rather than organically unfolding on the page.
It’s pitched as a slow burn, but it definitely reads more like an instant connection. The story tells us their bond deepens, but we don’t always get to see it play out. The development happens quickly and sometimes off-page, skimming over the emotional build-up that makes romances hit hard. If you’re a reader who lives for those intimate, layered moments of tension building as it’s happening, this might feel a little fast-tracked.

The banter and tension? They were good. Lucas being secretly soft and totally whipped? Yes, please. But some of the romantic development felt surface level more told than shown and the progression of relationships, both romantic and platonic, came across as rushed or skipped over entirely. The pacing dipped in places, with repeated internal conflict dragging down the middle. This story had all the right ingredients: angst, danger, forbidden romance, and sizzling chemistry. But the execution felt a bit uneven. It’s the kind of book where the concept is solid gold, but I found myself wanting more emotional depth, more on-page growth, and less reliance on time jumps to move the story forward. Still, if you enjoy dramatic, trope-heavy romance and don’t mind filling in the blanks, this might be your kind of chaos.

Get ready for a wild, pulse-racing ride with The Mafioso's Promise! This book delivers everything you want from a dark, mafia romance—danger, betrayal, and a spicy love affair that leaves you hooked from page one.

The story centers on Serafina, the quintessential mafia princess, with piercing green eyes, dangerous allure, and a burning desire to escape her criminal lineage. Our brooding hero is an ex-boxer willing to forsake everything, even his dying mother’s last wish, just to keep her safe. The chemistry between them? Off the charts!

What makes this story a knockout is how the author dives deep into the primal attraction between these two. There’s a constant push and pull as Serafina battles her past, and our boxer fights against his darker instincts, leading to deliciously tense moments. The heat is turned up as he transitions from gloves to guns, proving there’s nothing he won’t do for her—even if it means burning everything down. The layers of forbidden love, coupled with the deadly mafia world, create a perfect storm of passion and action.

If you love protective alpha males, strong-willed heroines, and a plot filled with twists that leave your heart racing, The Mafioso's Promise is for you. Not to mention the spice—let’s just say you might need a cold shower after some of their encounters!

This book is intense, dark, and dangerously entertaining—a true guilty pleasure that keeps you flipping pages way past your bedtime!

I'm just so amazed how deeply a MAN can fall in love that he changed his entire life trajectory for her. Oh Lucas, the man you are!!

This book was such an easy read. Easy to follow through and so well structured as well.

The storyline is damn addictive and keeps you hooked till the very end of it. It's a mafia romance where the MMC, Lucas goes through a journey of so much learning & self discovery to be honest just so he can protect the one he loves or specifically HER - Serafina.

Loved the storyline, the plot twists, the characters and overall the way whole book is so well written & presented.

Its a must read if you mafia families drama, mafia wars and a little found family trope as well.

Thank you Jade for providing me the opportunity to review this gorgeous book of yours. Loved it so much!! 💗💗💗

Ok so this is the first book for me by this author. And I must say this author has a new reader for sure. So for me this book hit me kind of hit differently, i loved reading about the hispanic culture and how it was used throughout the story. This book was about an amazing cartel/mafia romance with a lot of suspense which for me really kept the story intriguing. And had me racing to turn the page to see what happened next. During the story my heart felt heavy for serafina multiple times because i loved her personality as a character so so very much! As for Lucas his bravery and loyalty was refreshing, i honestly couldn’t believe how much he was willing to do to be with the girl he wanted and loved. This book really had me hooked from start to finish and can’t wait to read more from this author.

💸 Thank you so much Author Jade Styles for the free book 🥰

💸 This book was an exciting mix of mafia, romance, and unexpected twists! The characters had strong personalities, and I loved how their dynamics kept shifting throughout the story.

💸 The forbidden love aspect made the tension even better, keeping me hooked till the end.

💸 The writing was engaging, and the pacing was just right—fast enough to keep things interesting but not too rushed. I also appreciated the balance between action, emotions, and those what just happened?! moments.

💸 The chemistry between the leads was intense, and there were scenes that made me gasp, laugh, and even hold my breath.

💸 If you love mafia romances with arranged marriage tropes, suspense, and powerful characters, this book is definitely worth a read. It’s an addictive, fast-paced ride that delivers on drama and passion!!

This was my first time trying Mafia Romance and this book has officially made me enter to the mafia romance world. This was a really amazing book.

I loved Lucas and Serafina the moment I got to know them. Especially Lucas. He is such an amazing and strong character. That doesn't mean Sera isn't, she was a strong woman as well. But doing something you absolutely hate and wanted to avoid all your life because of a promise but still ends up breaking it for the one you love just takes a whole lot of courage.

The side characters were all amazing and so supportive. Even though some were unsupportive they still managed to win my heart as I get to know their character. This is over-all a good book. Definitely recommended.

What to expect when reading The Mafioso’s Promise;
-Mafia
-Enemies x Lovers
-Arranged Marriage
-second Chance
-Boxer

I was fortunate to be giving this book by the wonderful Jade, super grateful for that!

This story follows Lucas as he is navigating the loss of his mom. Keeping his promise to stay on the straight and narrow. What he wasn’t expecting was Serafina coming into his life with her secrets. This story was entertaining I enjoyed the chemistry between the two. I did expect a little more Mafia aspects but over still very good, I can’t wait to see where the rest of the series goes!

Plot Rating: ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Spice rating:🌶🌶🌶

Thropes:
Dark Mafia Romance
Multicultural romance
Boxer
Enemies to Lovers (but with a twist)
Arranged marriage
Second chance
Strong, *curvy*, spitfire FMC
Grumpy, morally grey MMC
Off limits
Dual POV
FAST pace

This fast-paced dark mafia romance centers on Lucas, a Hispanic boxer, and Seraphina, an Italian mafia princess. Their attraction is immediate and intense, developing from the very first chapter. While the story offers a refreshing twist on the enemies-to-lovers trope by delaying the typical mistrust and conflict, the short chapters limit the depth of detail outside the central relationship. However, the compelling character development between Lucas and Seraphina compensates for this, making it an engaging read.
