In ancient times our legend sprang, from Muses’ lips a place we came…
Lyra holds the key to her past in her hands— but she can’t decipher it.
It’s frustrating to be confused about your siren heritage. It’s worse to have the answers so tantalizingly close, yet outside of your grasp.
Luckily, Lyra knows Score can help… if Glenn lets him within 50 meters of her.
But their bickering becomes the least of her worries when the Council of Extraordinaries assign her a new home. Lyra has a choice: discover her origins, or lose her friends forever.
The journey is long and treacherous, leading through a dangerous land of magic, the Realm. But while she’s hunting for her past, someone is hunting her. And her unknown assailant has become more desperate.
Lyra just wants to survive and get answers, but she may not like what she discovers. And what she finds will change her life forever.
Spokane Author A.M. Hodgson is addicted to writing and is always working on something new.
When she isn't making up fantastical plotlines and endearingly flawed characters, she immerses herself in the stories of others through books and video games. She enjoys long walks on the beach, daring adventures, and other activities she only frequents in her imagination.
Very nice continuation from Prelude. There's a lot more about the world introduced and Lyra becomes a much stronger character to read about. However there's still a lack of depth to the plot and honestly not much happened, as in actually happened, in the book. Overall the story is really good a drawing emotions, and is fun and fast to read. I'm definitely looking forward to reading the next and hoping for some more fast, fun, action from Hodgson.
*I received this book for review from the author, but this in no way affects my thoughts expressed in this review*
Sonata is the second book in The Rhapsody Quartet by the fabulous A.M. Hodgson. If you all recall, I shared my thoughts on the first book, Prelude, and I absolutely loved the book. So, I was so happy to dive on into Sonata. I’m also happy to report I was not at all disappointed!
This book had me entranced from chapter one, I was so ready to get back into the wonderful world A.M. Hodgson has created. I didn’t really think there was anything that could be improved upon from book one to book two, but I was wrong. The characters were even stronger and more realistic than in Prelude and the overall story structure just seem to perfectly written.
This book was, in some ways, a lot different than what I expected after the first in the series, but I’m actually really happy about it. The story took me by surprise and I was so sad when I had to say goodbye to this world once again at the end of the book. A.M. Hodgson has something really special in the way she writes. If you were a fan of Prelude, you should definitely check out Sonata, you won’t be disappointed. If you haven’t read Prelude, then what are you waiting for? With unique and overall fun to read books, The Rhapsody Quartet isn’t a series you’re going to want to miss!
I am getting more and more attached to this story line. Sonata really helped me understand the characters and had a brilliant way of getting into my imagination! I'm looking forward to what A.M. Hodgson has for us next!! (not patiently waiting though) Hurry!!!
Good second installment of the Rhapsody series. While I wanted the main character to fall for someone else, I wasn't disappointed in the story itself. I'm still however, secretly hoping that somehow, Lyra will end up with the other male lead. ;)
The concept is so interesting. The fact that Lyra has such a hard time about being a siren, cause she still thinks human. I felt so bad for Score, because Lyra was so angry about everything. Now am so sad for them both, can't wait to see how the mission turns out.
Oh my goodness!!! I literally just finished this book, and I absolutely cannot get enough of this series! It's not often lately that I read a book in just over a day, but A.M. Hodgson writes so vividly, and fluidly, that I can't help but to just soak up the world of Lyra, Score, and company. I highly recommend this series to anyone who enjoys fantasy, myths, interesting characters, and just good storytelling!
