Let's just say this book was not my cup of tea. I hate reading books and finding that I do not like certain characters nor do I like the plot.. yada. yada because then I'm not going to have the best review. And I don't like bashing authors' work because this is their lives, but I'm one critic out of hundreds, so please don't choose to read or to not read based on this review alone.
Emily doesn't have great luck when it comes to guys, so she's not to keen on a new man when Julien with his hot French accent comes barging into her life. Miscommunication takes their a relationship for a turn for the worst. Ex-wives, best friends. Everyone is backstabbing everyone. What's going to happen?
The main reason I really didn't enjoy this book was because I DETESTED Julien. I straight up thought he was arrogant and super neurotic. He wanted Emily, but I felt like the way he worded things made him out to be pompous rather than charming. I also just found the book to lack setting. I like when I know the surroundings of the characters and enough background information to keep me happy, but I didn't have that with this book.
Overall, I'm giving this book 3 STARS out of 5 STARS because I did like Emily and her character, but sadly there were too many other issues to ignore.

Book One of The Cover Series
A love story, but with many twists and turns.
Emily, is a young, been hurt before and afraid to trust again woman, who meets Julien, a handsome man, with "player" like qualities which turn Emily off as much as he turns her on.
When these to come together, the only word to describe it is HOT.
Both have pasts that threaten their future. Julien, a lie he has lived for so long. Emily, heartbreak and pain all stemming from lies. Emily struggles to move past her past hurts and on to a future with Julien. There are many obstacles to overcome, but can she move past Juliens lies.
I wasn't sure what to expect in this story as I jumped into reading it will no knowledge of what it would be about. What I found I liked. I would give this book 4 stars.

Great Read; Loved the characters.

There is an easy, comfortable relationship established with the lead characters of Discovered from the moment that the story begins to unwind. Emily's feisty yet seductive appeal is whimsically magnetic, Julien is not only mesmerizing, but he proves to be all that one would expect from a debonair power player and the confident, calculated Charlette holds her own.
Discovered is certainly targeted to the 18 and over crowd and with just cause. The relentlessly in-depth encounters so well depicted will leave you wanting more. Kim Black's Discovered does not disappoint her readers. Fortunately, Discovered is Book One of the Covered Series. I'm a new fan in anxious anticipation of Julien, I mean the next book.

I received an Advanced Reader Copy of this novella and I loved every second of it!
Kim Black has a fabulous way of bringing the reader into the world of her characters. Each one's motives and actions were clearly defined yet nothing was easily figured out. The twists and turns of each relationship were surprising, morally complex and kept me hooked.
I found myself rooting for the "villianess" as well as the female lead which made me feel a bit conflicted. I'm hoping all of that will be worked out in the next book. Or maybe Ms. Black will just make me fall in love with both of their points of view and I will not be able to choose between them.
I read this book FAST...and I can't wait for the sequels. Thank you Ms. Black for giving the world a new love story to dive head first into.

I read this quickly since I couldn't put it down. The story had many twists which drew me In. Now my only problem is waiting for the next book! Can't wait.

If you are looking for a quick, steamy read with a strong-willed heroine and a gorgeous sexy-as-sin hero, I definitely recommend that you read this book.
Meet Emily: she has been burnt by her past boyfriend, Adam, and even though it has been a year since she broke it off with him, she is still not ready or willing to jump into a new relationship. However, her strong feelings about this subject become muddled when she meets Julien Belmont when she is out clubbing with her friends one night.
“Foreign men and their accents. Why did we girls have to be such suckers for a beautiful man with an accent?!” (Emily)
Julien is, without a doubt, a man accustomed to getting his way and the minute he lays eyes on Emily, he wants her.
They share a night filled with VERY steamy sex (honestly, my ears got quite red while reading this scene) but when morning comes, Emily is still not sure if she wants to trust Julien with her heart. And then drama ensues: by accident, Emily finds out that Julien is, in fact, married! Yes, married! At this point in time, I was quite ready to throw my Kindle across the room because I did NOT see this coming, at all – but I did not do this, I persevered and read the entire story in one sitting. And I will not tell you more about the actual drama but suffice it to say that there is lots of it.
Emily is a great character: sassy, smart, and as I already mentioned above, she is a very strong woman. I like her “voice” very much, and I could completely relate to her when it came down to her very conflicting feelings towards Julien and her ex-boyfriend, Adam.
And Julien…? Well, he is very alpha in the bedroom, but quite confused about his feelings as well. He does not understand the pull he feels when he is near Emily, and he is quite determined to make her his.
“This woman…she had somehow gotten to me, weakened me and brought out a side of me that I didn’t know existed.” (Julien)
His marriage of convenience to Charlette, their reasons behind it, left me a bit…well, angry, actually. But I love it when books make me feel very strong emotions, whether they be negative or positive ones. So well done, Miss Black!
As this is a novella, this review is rather short – but I do not want to spoil it for you. The story is solid, the dual POVs make me a very happy bookaholic, and one of the major factors as to why I enjoyed the story so much is that I found myself feeling sympathy towards ALL the characters. Even Charlette and Adam have redeeming qualities, and I can honestly say that I have absolutely no idea about what will happen in the next two installments! I love that!
So, to sum up: this is, yes, a story about a sexy billionaire, which we have seen quite a lot of already, but it is so different at the same time; further, the feelings of both Emily and Julien are portrayed in a way that make you believe them; last, the supporting characters all play a very important part in the story as well, and they, too, come across as very believable characters. The author’s writing is very good, and it has a nice flow to it.
Although I would have liked to get to know Emily and Julien better – because this IS the first book in the series – I am confident that I will get my wish granted in the next book, “Coverup”, and I cannot wait to read it.

As a man, I could honestly say that reading romance novels is not a common occurrence for me but reading this novella has been a very pleasant experience. One thing I could say, it's definitely a HOT story; filled with steamy sex scenes that could make anyone, man or woman blush.
Kim Black pulls you into the story from the very beginning and doesn't release you even after the book has ended, instead you are left wanting to read more.The characters are believable, likable (even the "bad guys") and their mannerisms are all purposeful. Nothing in the story is said just for the sake of saying, which I love. There is no fluff here, just great story telling that will make you root for the characters.
The leading lady is a witty and spirited young woman that I believe everyone can rate to. The leading man is of course every woman fantasy come true. Had it stayed at that then it would have been just your ordinary romance novel but Kim Black doesn't go for the obvious. Instead, Kim makes it so that you will never know what is going to happen. Even when you think you have it figured out... You are shocked and dive deeper into the story.
This was an absolute joy to read and I am looking forward to the rest of the series.

I'm a fan of a book blog on Facebook and by the grace of Gods they suggest books that I love and some not so much. This book I not only loved...but I was entranced by it. I literally bought read and before I knew it I was at 87% and so was not ready for it to end. Queue anxiety....
While the editing I would have to rate 3 stars because there were some extra words that needed to be deleted and the occasional completely wrong word, as long as you're reading and following along you're brain fixes said mistakes (atleast mine did).
However the dialogue and characters make up and any and all possible mistakes throughout this book. Emily and Julien are to die for. They are utterly and completely PERFECT for each other. Without giving away too much....throughout each bump in the road I was cheering for them. Julian's gonna have a lot on his shoulders though after that ending. Especially since her "best friends" (and I use that term loosely) are such utter abandoning biatches....hmph. Don't even get me started on that betrayal.
But seriously y'all. Read it!!!! You'll thank me later I PROMISE! And it's only an added benefit that it's free until January 7th. Thanks so much for this creation and gift Miss Kim Black. Job well flippin done!

Is this the man that Emily needs to rid herself of the past? Or will secrets from her past change her mind?
This was a quick read and I would almost label it as a novella. This is Erotica and not for anyone under 18 due to strong sexual content. If you are a bit faint of heart, this isn’t for you. Frequently I have heard people say that 50 Shades was just too much for them, if you are feeling that way, then this isn’t for you. I really have nothing to complain about on this one if you know what you are getting into. This is a short and super hot read. Julien is smokin’ hot and the scenes with Emily won’t leave you desiring for much more. Be warned though, this is a major cliffhanger! We will find out how the story plays out in April.

I recommend this series but do read all 3 books to get the full effect
Book one
I don't know what to say about book one it was a quick read i not sure i even like the main characters in this book but i will read the next book and i might change my mind it

Book two
This book was a lot better than book 1 loads of twist and turns still not sure if i liked Emily she seems very shallow to me i liked Julian a lot more Diana needs a slap but i loved Suzie & Adam well i don't know where to start with what he needs lol a couple black eyes and grow some balls for a start but this author did bring all the characters to life & to me thats all that matters the book is well written great story well now off to read book 3 cant wait already got it waiting on my kindle

Yea..this book wasn't my cup of tea once I found out something about Julien I didn't enjoy reading the book so my notes and highlights weren't very many. I really do dislike giving 3 star reviews but I know that it wasn't my tea and perhaps what I didn't enjoy others would. Julien I thought he was arrogant, "yes, I drive a Porsche, yes, this is my car, yes I would like to drive you home in it." I also noticed after I downloaded the books that the cover says "Book One of The Cover Series" which sent sirens off in my head I don't do well with cliffhangers and well this one had one.

4.5 Crazy Ass Stars!!!
Wow! I've been in an erotica funk. I was really hesitant to start this because I've had little luck with this genre lately. I waited until the last possible minute to read this before my review was due. I could kick myself now because holy heck, was this hot. Kim Black sucked me right into Emily and Julien's world. The twists and turns kept me on my toes and had me glued to my kindle. I need more. I feel like Veruca Salt right now! I want it now!

I enjoyed the book that I didn't realize I was getting closer to the end, but maybe its because I could figure out the tweaks in the story. I am sure it maybe because I have read many similar stories. It still an enjoyable book and I am looking forward to the next chapter.

I read this book at the authors suggestion. I was given a copy for my honest review so here goes.
This was a novella and I have a love hate relationship with novellas. I love them but because they are short reads I'm left with so many questions.. That wasn't the case here though. I love a great book and this book had so much passion in it.
Not just the love kind but also the kind where you want to slap the crap out of some of the characters because their decisions made you feel so angry that you just can't help yourself. That to me is the works of a great author. If they can pull you into a characters world just by their words well, that's just amazing to me.
That's why we read right.. To be thrown into another world and forget everything else?
Julien and Emily's relationship had a crazy start. They met at a club and at the suggestion of one of Emily's
Best friends she went home with Julien, even against her better judgement. Emily's world was thrown upside down by one passion filled night. Something was ignited in them both that night that changed them forever. I don't know about you but what girl doesn't dream of being swept off her feet and falling head over heals about someone.
We want that night in shining armor to whisk us away from all our heartache right?
Yes, things got serious really quickly but who knows.. I would love to believe in love at first site. We can't help what our hearts do right? Even if our minds tell us something else. Julien might be trouble but Emily is willing to take that chance. He's awaken feelings in her she's never felt before but at what cost to her heart.
Emily and Julien are from two different worlds. he's a multi billionaire and she's a chef that lives in a little apartment on the opposite end of town. You would think that would just be bad all around right.. I mean how could she ever fit in his perfect world?
There's so much drama going on. Emily has an ex who wants her back and julienne has a wife. Yup I said it, a wife..
Their lives are so different but yet when they are together it's like the missing puzzle piece that makes the picture come to life.
I wonder how this could ever work. Can one night really change everything you've ever thought was true? I'm rooting for julienne and Emily but with the way the book ended... Oh my.. I guess I'll be aping back n forth until the second comes out. Soon I hope...

This was a interesting and quick read. Interesting in many aspects. First Emily didn't really rub well on me. She was hypocritical at times and never wanted to listen to people. hear them out until it was too late. Julien was granted holding back secrets but was trying to be honest with Emily she just didn't make that easy. His marriage arrangement was a little old school and freaky but I think what happened after the gala with him and his wife was necessary for him to realize what he truly wanted and for him to grow up.too bad Emliy didn't let him talk to her she was too wrapped up in what she saw on tv and in her own justifications that she didn't give him a chance. Her riotous indignation was a wee bit over the top considering how she had been about her ex and how they hadn't decided to be exclusive since she didn't want that.
Julien don't get me wrong has flaws but he was caring towards her just he let his desires push reason aside. Emily only went to him when she needed his body nothing else. She used him and than got angry when things didn't go how she wanted and than she turns to her ex to start up again. Bad Emily bad.
The plot twists were interesting and I must say Julien's wife is a snobby snotty conniving jerk. I don't care if she does think she wants him she is. I have a feeling she will definitely be a bad spoke for Julien and Emily if they get to go forward. that is if Emily listens. The ending is sad and a cliffy. 'Discovered' is defiantly a 5 star read. It is full of REALLY steamy love making scenes, chapters of ravishing sex, and does not lack on detail. Holy hell for a novella there is a whole lot things going on. I guess I could best describe Discovered as a soap opera. There is a love triangle, or is it a square or is it a polygon? Yes you read that right. There is Julien, Emily, Charlette, Adam and Diana. I am not even going to try to explain it all in this review. There is insta love, insta lust, lies, secrets, sex, jealousy, cheating and more sex. See just like a soap opera.
I am going to straight up admit more than once I contemplated not even finishing it only to be sucked right back in. Emily I swear this girl is bi-polar with the way her moods swing from one extreme to another. Julien is almost under a spell when it comes to Emily but his secrets and then lies just keep blowing up in his face. Don’t even get me started on Charlette, Adam, or Diana. As much as I wanted to hate this one, I just kept getting sucked back into the storyline and now I kinda have to know what happens next. See soap opera! After the way it ends and yes it is a cliffhanger, I just need to know. I need to know more than I needed to know who shot J.R. (first let me state I am not that old but I watched Dallas with my mom when I was little and seriously if you didn’t catch that reference you are seriously lacking in your night time soap opera experiences).
While I may only be rating this one 3.5 stars don’t let that stop you from seeing why I kept getting sucked back into Discovered and why I will be reading the next book.

Lord have mercy! This book was just...fantastic.
I was left speechless after reading this book, I couldn't believe what I had read!
Emily Roberts wants nothing to do with men because of something that happened with her ex. Julien Belmont doesn't want a relationship. One night they meet in a bar and things take off from there.
The feelings that this will pull out of you are amazing! I was happy one minute, then sad the next. I couldn't keep one emotion for long because something else started happening. My head was spinning by the time I was done reading this book (in a good way of course). There were so many surprises, so many things you didn't expect to happen yet they did. I couldn't believe what happened throughout the book. My heart went out to Emily because all of the bad stuff that had happened to her. My heart went out to Julien who had to put up with so much.
Now on to Julien...I think I'm going to take him home with me and keep him, he's mine!
He is a hot hot hot man. He was very commanding in bed, which is so sexy! But he also had a vulnerable side to him that I couldn't help but feel for him. He was a good man, with good intentions, but bad circumstances.
I can't wait to see what else Kim Black has up her sleeve for Emily & Julien! I want more NOW! I'm now addicted to Julien. I can't wait for April when the second in the series comes out! Thank you Kim Black for an amazing book.

Wow, what a wonder beginning to a promising writing career! This novella is Ms. Black's debut, no doubt she has many more stories to tell. Her writing is tight, her characters well developed and the sex scenes are sizzling. I do not write spoiler reviews, but be warned the ending is heart stopping.
Emily has given up on love. After finding out her ex was cheating, she has given up on men. She survived the past year with the help of her best friend. A chance meeting with a devilishly handsome Frenchmen throws her world into a tailspin. Just one night right? Little did she know that Julien was about to change her entire life. Julien is a wealthy French businessman, who has a very hearty sexual appetite.Does he know Emily is a culinary genius? He has never been blown away by a woman until he meets her. His marriage of convenience, suddenly becomes very inconvenient. His family has expectations, that he has no desire to fulfill. His "wife" suddenly want to actually be one. How will this all play out? I'm not telling, as Ms. Black does a stellar job letting the reader know all of the secrets. The plot is well written and takes the reader on several twists, including the ending. Those of us that read romance always want to know about the sex. IT IS HOT! Emily meets Julien at the beginning of the book at a night club. He becomes fascinated with her, but Emily wants none of it because of the type of person she thinks Julien is, a playboy. What ensues next it passion, betrayal, heartbreak, and misunderstandings. These two are drawn to each other, but each has their own personal issues they must overcome first. They share a great passion but are unable to pursue it because of these issues.
Kim keeps you captivated with her writing. It’s well thought out and smoothes gracefully over the pages. There is plenty of detail and I felt well acquainted with the characters. By the end of the story you are left confused as to what you want to happen. Will the hero and heroine be together? Do you want them together? What other obstacles must they face?
I can not tell you how much I look forward to reading the next book. For me, it has become an obsession to find out how Emily and Julien’s story continues. I give Discovered five phenomenal stars.

Emily had her heart shattered by her ex when she found out he was cheating on her. A year later she vows to never let a good looking player into her heart again. That is until she meets Julienne. Even though she knows he's all wrong for her and would hurt her the same way she can't help but fee a pull to him.
Julien is a one night stand sort of man not looking to settle. But when he sees Emily his heart has other plans for him. Too
Bad he has a wife already. Nearly ruining everything Emily finally gets the truth about his marriage being only a business arrangement. They have a whirlwind affair but Emily has many struggles to overcome in trusting Julien and everyone else she cares for
Lies and betrayal make for a great book but I couldn't connect with the characters. I felt Julien was too much of a player and Emily was to willing to follow her pussy instead of her mind. I didn't like Julien and honesty I am rooting for Suzie. (I know she's just a side character) and the cliffhanger was crazy making me want to read on to see how this factors into things. I did like the hot sex scenes and the fact that Emily is a face slapped though.

This story started out with a bang, and I never caught my breath. The character development is great, with a fast paced, addicting, and well written story line that flows effortlessly. Kim Black drew me in from the beginning, holding me hostage throughout, and just about killed me at the end. Her brilliant writing style kept my heart racing, as there are twists and turns all over the place that kept me on the edge of my seat. The chemistry is flammable, that led to EXPLOSIVE sexy scene goodness, and the cliff hanger ending may or may not having me calling the author very bad names. The next part cannot come out quickly enough, and so I HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY HIGHLY and HIGHLY RECOMMEND!
