Roxy has spent the last four years under her father’s thumb. Ever since the Weevils had arrived and quickly overwhelmed Earth, leaving only a few pockets of humanity and leading the death of most of the women on the planet, they have been hiding in their cabin trying to survive. But all this time Roxy has been preparing and practicing to take out Weevils and finally her MeeMaw calls for her, sending her on a life-changing mission.
The Seer, MeeMaw, has asked Wolf to protect a guest who is on their way for a visit to the old woman. When he finds the guest, she turns out to be a beautiful woman, strong and confident enough that she doesn’t require his protection. That doesn’t stop his wolf from demanding that she is theirs. When Wolf leads Roxy to her grandmother, he finds out that the old coot wants him to take Roxy on a mission.
Roxy and Wolf set out to bring back Roxy’s injured Aunt Charlie from her ranch. Weevils aren’t the only dangers in their path. Will their connection and the friends they bring with them help them save Aunt Charlie, or will the massive beasts be the end of them?
✨✨✨ Red is for Roxy by Meg Stratton (@megstrattonauthor), is a Why Choose Post-Apocalyptic Romance and a Little Red Riding Hood Retelling. ✨✨✨
Tropes: 🐺 Fierce FMC 🐻 Multiple POV 🪲 MMFFMM 🐺 Why Choose 🐻 Post-Apocalyptic 🪲 Little Red Riding Hood Retelling
I just finished this story and I have to tell you, I feel absolutely lost... I just want to dive back into Roxy's world and be with her amazing family. I even told Meg that I expect at least one bonus chapter!
But let's start from the beginning: Meg Stratton invites us into a post-apocalyptic world where women are rare, and Weevils—mutated, rhino-sized versions of garden bugs—terrorize the population. Roxy, the granddaughter of a well-known seer, is sent on a mission to rescue her aunt, accompanied by a bear shifter and a wolf shifter. As their journey unfolds, another grumpy main character joins the plot, and things quickly get steamy, intense and full of action.
The story is complex, and the characters are incredibly lovable. Roxy, in particular, has become my new Queen of FMCs. She is fierce, capable of fighting, helpful, and knows exactly what she wants—and she doesn't hesitate to let you know it.
If you're looking for your next read with plot twists and a growing family dynamic (MMFFMM), this is the book for you. "Red is for Roxy" will be released on February 11th, and it's a must-read for fans of dark romance and post-apocalyptic adventures.
Quotes: When the universe presents an attractive male who makes my çųnt clench and my çlit throb with just a look, I’m going to take advantage of the opportunity.
“Mmmmm, eat me, Daddy. Sųçk that çlit.”
“Yes, Daddy. Anything for you,” I murmur, giving a saucy wink as I turn back to Mountain. As I draw closer to the missile, he calls a çoçk, and his panting increases.
Honestly, I feel like a queen. A gorgeous man under me, his diçk pulsing and impatient to fųçk me, buried deep into me, and me sitting here holding him back from the fųçking I know he wants to give me.
I watch as Mountain moves to Roxy's side and kisses Wolf, licking his lips of Roxy's essence as he does. I clench my thighs together as I watch Mountain take Wolf's diçk into a beefy hand, pumping and squeezing, causing Wolf to growl and whine in lųst.
This is a fast paced spicy romance and action packed journey. What starts a rescue mission in the post apocalypse world filled with dangerous alien monsters, quickly becomes an intense lust filled conquest between Roxy and the enticing shifters that have joined the mission. These shifters are driving Roxy wild and it doesn't take long till she embraces her cravings and their little group of rogues becomes a heated polycule. Throw in some drama from Wolf's past, an innocent but curious new female addition, and a LOT of exploring, and the steam is bouncing off the pages. The multiple POV helps give insight into the large cast, so you get a better understanding of where everyone's desires lie. If you want something full of spice, with a fierce and compassionate FMC, shifter lust, and heaps of passion, grab yourself a copy.
Set in a post-apocalyptic world, and based lightly in the tale of Little Red Riding Hood, this why choose romance starts with the vision of a Seer, that sends Roxy in a journey where she finds mates, companions and a family. The spicy is high and there's instant lust between all of them. I felt that even the plot is there but I would have liked to see more background of the characters story and more development of the relationships within their family
We Have ✅ MMFFMM Romance ✅ Shifters ✅ Fantasy ✅ Sci-Fi ✅ MM Romance ✅ Love at First Sight ✅ Why Choose ✅ FF Romance ✅ Multiple POV
This book was such a creative and wild ride! There’s so much to unpack here, and I have to start with what I really enjoyed. Roxy’s introduction was strong—her badassery in the opening scenes pulled me right in, and Wolf’s insta-love moment was the perfect setup for the romance. The introduction of the other characters in the group happened quickly but I low-key fell in love with them almost as soon as they all came together. You gotta love a Girl’s Girl and Roxy is just that! The way she is with the other female of the group is just so freaking cute! Sooo when theeee FF scene happens its absolutely chef’s kiss, and the smut delivered and delivered and delivered again—there’s no denying that the spice was spicing! The group dynamics kept things exciting, and then the MM scene added a hot and unexpected but interesting layer to the story.
Unfortunately the reason the MM scene was unexpected was because it felt like it came out of nowhere. There was some indication that it had a backstory, but more buildup would have made it feel more natural to me. Similarly, while the alien plotline added intrigue, it ended up overwhelming the story at times and made me feel like things were a bit chaotic at times.
There were a lot of moving parts, and some of the pacing felt off to me when I read. For instance, day’s long journeys were suddenly resolved in no time and I could quite get how it happened. Then I felt like a couple major events didn’t always get the depth I would have loved to read. Still, the creativity and effort that went into this book are undeniable. I feel like this could have easily been a duet. If there was a little more focus on the relationships and world-building, this could’ve been something truly special.
Shifters, aliens, cults, caves, spicy Why Choose romances - OH MY!!! - there’s plenty to enjoy here. It’s definitely an event packed ride, but it has so many moments that super yummy!!
I opted in to read an Advanced Reader Copy (ARC) of this title. I'm a fan of werewolves and Little Red Riding Hood retellings. Plus, I wanted to see what the author did with the FF of the MMFFMM polycule. There are plenty of romances in which one woman has a multitude of guys, but few that I've found in which she also enjoys the ladies.
The story itself is fine. The pace moves quickly because the chapters are generally short. The six different main characters all get POV chapters, though Roxy is the axle around which everyone else rotates. (Well, maybe not Tom...)
Tom and Wolf are brothers, so this is a complicated group. It is not, however, one in which incest plays a part.
There is insta-lust between the main characters. While that's not something I usually enjoy, it helped that I knew about it going in to the story. The characters are sexually open and encourage each other to try new activities with other people in the group. No one is restrictively possessive. One thing I appreciated in particular was that one character (Drake) didn't want to be part of the love geometry with the others. His relationship with Roxy is separate from what she shares with the others.
As a reader and writer myself, I did find two aspects of the writing that I didn't enjoy. The author's command of verb tenses here is not great. It seems she wants to tell this futuristic story in a running present tense, but randomly everything goes into past tense. Secondly, there is a repeated ineffective use of repetition. Something will be stated in the narrative and repeated almost word for word in the dialogue.
Neither one of those things will be deal breakers for all readers. Some will have a high tolerance because they enjoy enough of the other elements to balance it out. Also, there is the possibility that some of the errors will be caught and fixed by the official release.
Lastly, yes the book is filled with sex scenes. I don't personally care for the Daddy kink in one of them. As for the heat level... I'm not sure what to label it. It's not innocent and fade to black, but the scenes, though plentiful, are usually short. Except for Wren's first time. So go in expecting high heat, even though you might get something slightly less so depending on what you're used to reading.
For lovers of action and adventure, sex-positive and poly-am romance.
This was such a fun read! A dystopian, why choose spicy adventure…after Weevils the size of rhinos have invaded the Earth. Wolf, a minion of Roxy’s MeeMaw who they refer to as the Seer is first up. Mountain the bear shifter, Wolf (wolf shifter) and Roxy are directed by MeeMaw to take a 2 week trek to pick up Roxy’s Aunt Charlie and bring her back to MeeMaw. By the time they make it to Aunt Charlie’s they have acquired Drake, a Native American man, Little Mama the black kitty, Tom, Wolf’s brother - also a wolf shifter, Wren a human woman and Theo another young wolf shifter. It’s twisty and spicy and some of the scenes were soo hott 🥵 If you like shifters, banter, and steamy adventures, this is a must read!
This is a post apocalyptic why choose romance. There are multiple love which help you know the characters and what's going on with them. There is a lot of spice. I really enjoyed this book. I loved the characters. Roxy is a badass. She was my favorite along with Wolf and Mountain.
Ok, picture a world in which there are few women left and lots of humans that have survived have been mutated into shifters. Bears, wolves, etc. and then add these large deadly creatures. Now add a whole lotta spice. Badass FMC does not let anyone baby her or treat her like she needs to be protected. She will do it herself. But she does feel drawn to this hodgepodge group and she just follows her lust. In a world where you could get killed at any moment… who wouldn't????
I can't pick a favorite guy here but maybe because we technically meet wolf first, I'm soft on him. But so is Roxy.
This is a book I just couldn't put down once I started.
Have you ever tried to kill a weevil in real life? Seriously miniature rhinos. 10/10 difficulty.
In this retelling of Little Red Riding Hood, the weevils are much bigger than rhinos. An apocalyptic world with human / animal shifters overtaken by giant weevils. The red cloaked Roxy sets out on a mission for her grandmother to rescue her aunt. The rescue troop includes Wolf (wolf shifter), Mountain (bear shifter), Drake (human), Roxy (human), and Honey (horse).
In this apocalyptic world, women are scarce and the population is dwindling. Roxy is not only kick ass but wildly attractive and every man of the troop is hoping for a chance to be with her.
This is a grand story of adventure, with lots of spice, and an overall lovely “why choose” romance.
I very much look forward to reading this author again.
I was privileged to receive an ARC of this book and have been honest in my review of it. I did not receive anything in exchange for my review.
—- Quotes —- “ ‘Hey, beautiful,’ he whispers softly as I stare at him, ‘I could wake up with you looking at me like that every day of my life.’ “
“What if you can choose who you wish to be with? What if you can have a voice in the way you live your life?”
“ ‘Do you think she is mad about the wife thing?’ [redacted] asks as he adjusts his cock in his pants. ‘Yeah, I think she’s mad about the wife thing’ I chuckle.”
A dark, twisted, spicy Red Riding Hood retelling. The adventure, the post apocalyptic vibes, everything is written so beautifully. There is a good mixture of spice and plot to where you still know what's going on and the purpose of the story, but it's still nice and steamy. Meg gives us a why choose romance, MMFFMM, a bit of a daddy kink, and I'm here for all of it! Roxy is bossy, badass, and she has every MMC pussywhipped. Drake is a tortured, scared man with a grumpy personality, and a heart of gold. Wolf is the goofy golden retriever. Mountain another grumpy, burly man with a soft spot for Roxy. Wren is a sheltered, innocent girl. Tom just wants to be shown love and compassion, and a bit of a praise whöre🤭 And they all fit together so perfectly.
While I really enjoyed this book, because it was completely different to what I normally read.. I did wish there was more to the story..
I loved Roxy the badass FMC and loved wolf, mountain, and drake they were the first to be introduced and they just made the story.
How wren and Theo were introduced was different it felt like a different story but it definitely made sense in the end. I really enjoyed how everyone made wren feel welcomed and helped her sexually! Theo wasn’t in the book much which saddened me cause I wanted more of all the characters..
This book definitely left me wanting more and I mean a lot more!
The spice was good but again this book just left me wanting a lot more 🖤
🩷 Seggual Fluidity (among most of the MCs) 💪Action-Packed 🔥Violence 🤰Surprise pregnancy 🐺 Shifters 🏃♀️Dystopian 👀 Why Choose/Reverse Harem
“Red is for Roxy” was a fun, action-filled, smutty novella. The novella is reverse-harem and features a strong FMC who reminds me of ‘Xena: The Warrior Princes’ with her battle techniques and loyalty to those around her. The world the author creates is described in a captivating and easily accessible way, which I loved. The world is dystopian, and you root for Roxy and her male and female interest(s) who are all intriguing in various ways. Currently, Roxy has 3 male interests; Wolf, Mountain, and Drake. There is one female interest; Wren. All three men are rugged but have different individualistic features that intrigue the reader. Wolf is a sassy, fun character. Mountain emanates a calm and warm energy. And Drake is a wounded man who you want to care for. Other characters are introduced along the way that fit into this family. I don't want to spoil all the fun but suffice to say that Roxy has many suitors and they organically form such a beautiful relationship. As a fan of monster human romance, I really enjoyed the shifter aspect and the villainy monsters called Weevils. The weevils were really fun to read about, and I hope the author explores more monsters in further books. Maybe the weevils mutate and form into another monster type? The possibilities are vast. Now, with a group this big, you can't help having your favorite dynamics within the group, and for me, my favorites were:
🐺🐻Mountain and Wolf (MM) 🌹🐺🐻Mountain, Wolf, and Roxy (MMF) 🌹🌻Roxy and Wren (FF)
I loved the body positivity that is rampant in the book, the way Roxy dominates her lovers, and the cranky older ladies that possess psychic gifts. Their crankiness was funny to read, relatable, and helped release some of the tension present since our MCs are constantly having to fend off those darn weevils.
This book was deliciously Queer, dystopian, and hot! I'm super excited to read more about Roxy, her men, and her Wren. The next book in the series may be a sleeping beauty retelling….and I'm intrigued in how it will develop.
Note: The dirty talking is superb!
*I highly recommend this novella for fans of reverse harem, dystopian worlds, and strong likable FMC’s. And if you love cats, you will love this one too. 🤭😽

Please read your trigger warnings before reading I was offered this book at no cost so that I could leave my unbiased thoughts by the Author.
Let’s start by praising Meg Stratton for a well written story. This Little Red Riding Hood retelling was very interesting from the first chapter. This story has a lot of very interesting elements like aliens, shifters, why choose, all set in the great state of Texas. There is a lot of spicy scenes in this book so if you love those they are definitely present.
This story follows Roxy in a post apocalyptic Texas. She is summoned to her Mee maws house to receive the mission that her aunt needs to be retrieved from her ranch and that she may have been hurt in a weevil attack. She is joined by companions Wolf, and Mountain. They set off to find Drake another companion that is essential to succeeding in their mission to find Roxy’s Aunts Ranch. During the invasion many women are killed making women a very rare precious encounter. Roxy is not the weak and meager FMC she is a warrior who knows how to kill and knows how to survive. She also knows what she likes….Que the spice.
The way this story was told was excellent. The diversity and complexity of each companion in this book is well told and gives you enough information that the questions that you end up asking are indeed answered. Being from Texas O love the was the landscape was described making it easy to picture the characters and the story as it was told. If you are a fan of spice it is definitely here. However, for me toward the end I found myself skipping pages to get back on track to the plot of the book. For me personally I am more invested and interested in the plot rather than the spice. Especially when the story is sooooo good!
If you are a fan of shifters, why choose, post apocalyptic, bad ass FMC, spice and quest type books this is definitely going to like this story. This is intended for a mature audience so keep this in mind. I will give this book a solid 4 star ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ rating for the plot and the story of the book.
There is just something about a post apocalyptic story that grabs me and completely sucks me in. I always think it is so interesting to read about our world that has become something so different due to some disaster. That’s exactly what happens in this story. It’s a world where an alien race of giant bugs (I couldn’t help but think of Starship Troopers) have attacked and completely wrecked the Earth. In an effort to eradicate the alien bugs, the government attacked them with a weapon that ended up mutating some families into animal shifters. This new world also has a huge shortage of women (as all good apocalyptic why choose stories do). I loved how there was such a diverse group of people that came together to become a family. This story was very quick paced, and I really felt like I was flying through it.
Roxy was really the star of this book. From the minute you first meet her, you can see just how incredible she is. For this being a world with danger around every corner and so few women, she can handle herself. She owned her feelings and kind of just went with what she felt. This little group slowly grows until they have a very unconventional but loving and supportive family. For the most part, the men in the group fall for her the minute they meet her. I appreciated how each of the men in the group were so different yet the all end up bonding together. One of my favorite things was the inclusion of another female to the group. I read so many why choose stories and I almost never get a FF relationship included.
This was a fast paced story with action and lots of spice. I thought it was really entertaining and enjoyed reading it. The story revolved mostly around the relationship between this group of people and how the found something in a world that is crumbling around them. They take care of each other and bring a lot of love to their family when there is danger everywhere they go. It was exactly what I love to read in an apocalyptic tale.
✨ Wolf / Bear Shifter 🐺🐻 ✨Post Apocalyptic World ✨Multiple POV ✨Why Choose ✨Red Riding Hood Retelling - the 🌶️ version
Red is for Roxy is an adventurous story where Roxy and her found family take a mission to rescue MeeMaw’s hurt sister. In this post apocalyptic world, you’ll find Weevils - which are giant sized harmful beetles - that are a threat to the remainder of the planet making this rescue mission a dangerous one. The world also now considers women rare. You’ll meet Roxy’s new family she finds along the way. You’ll fall in love with each character and how different they all are. You’ll love them as fiercely as they love each other. And I think you’ll find the confidence in Roxy is refreshing as she asks for exactly what she wants. This book is incredibly spicy with explicit spicy scenes for those of you who love a lot of spice.
-MMFFMM -Found family -Why choose -Forced Marriage -Post Apocalytipc -Fierce FMC
The book was really good, and I enjoyed it so much while reading it. It was so good to see a female character who was fierce and would ask for what she needed and could be gentle at the same time. Roxy was amazing! On the other hand, Wren was everything because I could relate more to how she felt about herself and that she believed nobody wanted her. I was so happy to see her grow out of her shyness and learn to ask for herself and that she could get whatever she wanted because she deserved it.
And if I have to choose one of the male characters as my favorite, it would be Wolf. The way he cared for others was to die for! My guy was not afraid to kick a few asses for his loved ones.
Can we talk about the spice of this book? It was off the roof! It was well-presented and it was good to see how all of them got together and who ended up with who.
I recommend this book if you're looking for open-door spicy scenes, action, shifters, and an FMC who is not a damsel in distress and can fight for herself.
Thank you, Meg, for this ARC copy! I received an advance review copy for free, and I am leaving this review voluntarily
Roxy is asked to go on a life changing mission where fate and spice intertwine in this post apocalyptic tale based on red riding hood.
Thoughts: It was an enjoyable fast paced read that was definitely worth the time. There’s a lot of iconic quotes that came out of this novel that you can find hiding on Goodreads.
Omg this book was fantastic! Super sweet, spicy and full of action. I LOVE insta-love. Roxy is amazing. I loved all the men, but Roxy and Wren were my absolute favorite.
The plot is great! I could have read more. This book is very fast paced and the relationships were beautiful.
If you want a spicy post apocalyptic, red riding hood retelling…I recommend so much!
Just finished my ARC read for Red is for Roxy by Meg Stratton and what a great read it was. Set in post apocalyptic time, Roxy is a woman who is strong and determined. It has the right amount of spice and definitely keeps you on your toes.
Right out the gate, the book had a pow effect which kept me wanting to read more. Wolf has easily become my favorite although I loved them all. I wish I would have dedicated my weekend to reading it in one sitting. It is really that good. And did I mention the SPICE factor?
I loved this book. I love a dystopian novel and add a whole lot of spice in and I will eat it up!!! If that’s your jam this is the book for you. It’s a belter!!
It’s quite short but the plot packs a load in during that short time. It starts with a journey that the FMC and three of the MMC need to go on but by the end you have an additional FMC and a MMC.
Despite all the characters each individual chapter is written from their point of view so you get to know them quickly - although I totally want to know more about them.
Red is For Roxy It’s the hunger games meets twilight meets Pucking Around.
In this post-apocalyptic why choose romance, Roxy and her companions are sent on a mission to save her aunt from the Weevils. In the midst of danger, they spend their nights enjoying each other. When I say why choose, I mean it. The smut is smutting every step of the way.
While the story is there, some of it feels a little rushed. I would have loved to see more character development as well as back stories for some of the duos.
Ok listen closely, if you want a wild sexy tumultuous ride, with devastatingly handsome shifters and 1 strong silent type this is your book! You hit the ground running with the first chapter. I love books of all kinds, but Ms Meg Stratton, who by the way is a very engaging author, has a way of drawing you in and tying you to the characters in such a way that you’re rooting for everyone to win. “Red is for Roxy”. Is a gem . I couldn’t stop crying after I finished the book.
What do you think of this quote? Would you drop everything to dive into this book? 🔥🔥
"Mmmmm, eat me Daddy. Suck that clit."
Yep, I sure did. I went full on down that hole of OH. MY. LANTA! Gimme. This book is for you if that grabbed you. Also, if you're into reading MMFFMM at the end of the world with weird humongous bugs taking over. It sure is spicy and oh so saucy!
Thank you for the opportunity to ARC read! I was completely blown away!
Meg you did it again!! This is my 2nd book of Meg's I have read. As always she conveys human emotions so beautifully!! Her spice is sheer perfection!! I loved the dynamic of all multiple partners and also Drake having his own relationship with Roxy away from everyone else. I loved the female empowerment and uplifting Roxy gave Wren. I couldn't get enough of the story!! It was action packed and such a quick read!!
Red is for Roxy is a dystopian, loose retelling of Little red riding hood, based in a post- apocalyptic world. A why choose romance with a lot of spice. We see Roxy going on a journey where she finds her mates, family, and companions along the way. This was such a fun read, with so much action, shape shifters, and did I mention spice? 🌶
As for the weevils, the size of rhino's?! F that!
Megs way of writing is always magical, she cures you in until you are captivated. Such a wonderful read.
This was my first why choose book that I've read. I did enjoy it! It did feel like the sex was the whole plot, which isn't a bad thing. I do wish we could have seen a bit more of a plotline outside of the whole why choose situation. I'd love to know more about the Weevils and where they come from, how exactly the shifters become shifters, and how Meemaw and Aunt Charlie came to realize that they were Seers. If she does write a book two, I'll read it, and I hope that she goes deeper into the plot, storyline, and worldbuilding.
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
I LOVED this book! It's red riding hood with wolf and bear shifters and of course the human element.
My favourite character was Mountain, the bear shifter. His tough exterior mixed with his kind and soft interior, along with his touch her and ☠️ attitude just melted me. Oh and of course the spice was spicin'
Entertaining, spicy, irreverent... over all an enjoyable read! A post apocalypse adventure mixed with fast track pure smut lol. Wonderful characters with diverse backgrounds.
