Rebel: A Dark College Romance

Rate this book
I punched the campus crime king in the face, and now he's my new neighbor.

Rebel Kane is everything I loathe. Powerful. Arrogant. Obsessive. He's also the leader of the Graveyard Kings, a shady group that can get anyone anything for the right price.

He makes me his target after I punch him in the face. In my defense, he had it coming. When I move in next door to Rebel with my mother and her new husband, Rebel's games really get underway.

Rebel torments my every moment. By night he comes to my bed and owns me in every way. By day he treats me like trash, like I'm nothing and nobody. He sets me on fire, makes me burn, and then leaves me cold.

When my brother goes missing after one of Rebel's wild graveyard parties, I know Rebel is involved. Despite his denial, evidence proves that he knows more than he's sharing. And I will destroy him.

I just have to keep him from destroying me first.

This is a dark bully/enemies to lovers MF romance. Content warnings can be found on the author's website. For readers 18+.

I am the author of the Alexa O’Brien Huntress and the Rebel Heart series. I write urban fantasy that is dark and gritty with a twist of romance and horror but which is ultimately about people in dark places discovering who they are and what they’re made of.

I’ve been writing since the age of 9 when I had a Christmas themed short story published in the local town paper. A lover of rock music, vampires and muscle cars, I’m a dreamer who always secretly wanted to be a rockstar.

I love to hear from readers so don’t hesitate to drop me a line.

At the beginning I got wrapped up on the feels and angst of this and was loving the path it was sending me down, I was pretty sure at that stage it was going to be a 5 star book, that’s how much I was loving it.

Then about half way they just became toxic he’d f#ck up and then she’d forgive him and sleep with him, rinse and repeat so it was getting kind of repetitive. In the bedroom he’d whisper all the sweet nothings then out in the open he’d treat her like utter crap.

Also keep in mind these guys are meant to be dangerous, there’s nothing they don’t dip their fingers in. Organ stealing is a high paying job for them. This is where I wanted the author to delve into more, that dark side of their business. Then when his boys and another gang clash, and one of the opposing members is murdered, where’s the repercussions of that? I expected one huge gang war retaliation to occur. The author laid the bones down for a great book it just lacked execution.

⭐️3.75 🌶️3.5

I actually really enjoyed this, but the constant back and forth routine did piss me off at times and gave repetition. It’s a hit or a miss when it comes to bully romances. I did enjoy mainly the fact that the fmc was strong in terms of not taking any shit from the mmc. I understand her tho when she folded because we all knew it was coming😫

You definitely have to go into this book knowing the plot is ridiculous and OTT. 😂😂 (possible spoilers ahead)

I mean….we are talking about a gang of rich, 21 year old college kids, sexy alpha a-holes who basically steal and kill people to get their organs- to sell. 🙃 BUT they are mostly good guys. Maybe
And the women who tame the wild beasts. Mainly, they are TSTL.

So the story starts at a club. h (who is not like other girls 😒) sees the mysterious H beating a guy up in an alley. He catches her and puts his hands on her throat. He GRUNTS a bunch of caveman shite at her, she punches him in the nose, and takes off.

The next day she’s moving into her new, rich stepdad’s house with her brother and mother. SURPRISE! H is her new neighbor.

Naturally, she also goes to college with him. Let’s see- the first day he dumps a whole garbage can on her full of garbage. Niiice. Later, he breaks into her room and does some smexual acts to her.
The next day at school, he shames her in front of everybody over those smexual acts.

Rinse and repeat a bunch of times. Quickly, the smexual acts turn into actual smex. Oh yeah, can’t forget to mention he brands his name on her arse with a knife.

In private, he’s all like MINE MINE MINE but at school, he treats her like crap.
Even H’s BFFs are all like “bruh, you like her so quit acting like this”
So…the majority of the story is the smex the MCs would have at night, then the next day at school, he would “bully” her. Over and over and over again.

At one point, h cut H’s brake lines. He crashes into a tree. The snorts that came from my nose at this ridiculous plotline. 😂😂😂😂😂😂😂😂

There’s this OM who keeps sniffing around h. He’s the mortal enemy of H. 🤪 (at one point, h’s POV wonders if he’s just interested in her because he hates H) but she’s TSTL, so she keeps him hanging on to make H jealous.

h’s brother ends up dead. All signs lead to H. H has to spend some time proving to h it wasn’t him.
*sidenote* it was never a mystery on whodunnit to me. I always knew it was OM trying to set up H. 🤷‍♀️
H gets his confession from OM, then offs him.

HFN ending. The MCs move in together and he proposes.

It’s kind of funny to think these characters are only 21. They act so immature, but then they are described as some ruthless gang of organ thieves 😂
I’ll still read the next one.

I hated every single character in this book. I swear it felt like this was written by AI. The characters and story lacked depth. I felt zero chemistry between the main characters, it was just toxic. The fmc had someone close to her die & it was like it hardly affected her. The mmc gave me the ick a bunch of times, the way he would use her and treat her at night then how he bullied her during the day? I was confused by the entire dynamic. The fmc was all bark and no bite most of the time and she irritated me to no end.
Also I forgot to add SHE CUT HIS BREAK LINES HE CRASHES INTO A TREE THEN BE GETS BACK IN THE CAR WITH CUT BRAKE LINES & DRIVES OFF ??!! is it magically fixed? He’s gonna have to drive into another tree to stop again?

so I kept seeing this book on social media so I finally that's decided to read it because supposedly it's dark.
so you have FMC who is tstl (too stupid to live). there's a couple things that never makes sense to me in books in this particular book she's used to live in a poorer three bedroom apartment with her brother who was the year older than her and her mom. her dad left when she was little. apparently her mom got into an accident and this guy Larry was her lawyer. after the case was settled Larry started dating her mom and he lives in the rich part of town and they moved in a year later to Larry's house. the day before she moves to Larry's she goes out with her bestie who goes to the university closest to Larry which FMC has now transferred to in the middle of the semester. so she's up out at the bar with her friend and some dudes come up to them and she kicks one guy in the nuts for not taking the hand and she leaves to go get an Uber and seize the MMC and another one of his group beating the shit out of another guy. she gets caught eavesdropping and the MMC is basically like I like it rough let's see what happens and as he's distracted she hits him in the nose and runs away. then she moves into Larry's and guess what the MMC lives next door with his 15 year old sister and Mom and dad. apparently he is living at his mom's house at 21 because his mom wants him to live there until he graduates College but wait he also is the head of a local basically gang that does everything from harvesting illegal body parts to drug runs. in the beginning of the book him and his five friends go and harvest someone's kidney for instance. but wait there's a secondary group on campus called Venom. it's just too much and nothing about the characters makes you want to care about what they have to say or what they're doing.

A solid well rounded 3.5 star bully romance

It’s been a while since I’ve read Trina M. Lee. I can’t remember what I read before, but this was a really good book regardless. I went from bully romances to Morley Gray to dark romance in that order. So this is a nice refresher going back to a bully romance.
Our H, Rebel was a consummate bad boy. He had the tattoos, the money, the prestige, and the ladies. All of the guys wanted to be him and all of the girls wanted to be with him. He was kind of a D bag, but could care less about that fact. Everything changed when she arrived…
Storm was a super tough chick! The kind of heroine that I love to read about. She had no F’s to give and gave as good as she got. She was a little wishy-washy, but that comes with being a young adult so I can’t really blame her for that. Watching these two come together was fun and kept my interest all the way through.
All in all, again, a good reminder of a bully romance, and it was a fun Reid and looking forward to the next book. I’ll probably read it soon.

This is my first book by this author but I'm a long-time reader of dark romance and bully romance books. This one just did not hit it for me. I felt Rebel was over the top (not in a good way) and was rather abusive. Can we please not romanticize abusive behavior? Because screwing Storm and then bullying her in a college cafeteria is very high school to me.

At 21... I expected a different book from the MC's. Rebel felt like he was still stuck in high school. Storm started off strong but the way she let Rebel use her especially wile grieving for her brother didn't sit well with me. I actually did not finish at the 70% mark - still counting it though.

I felt Chase's murder was unnecessary. Could have given him a brutal beating or accident but still survived. I felt things just went downhill after the 50% mark.

I did not understand Rebel's motivations in any way and it felt very high school to me.

holy crap

I don’t even know where to start with this book! It was absolutely amazing! One of my favorite reads this year by far. I loved their names so much, they go together so dang good, storm is a force all on her own! Rebel was a you know what most of the time but he absolutely made up for it! I did cry at one point because it kinda hit home for me. Not necessarily the exact same thing but it was close. This book just sucks you in from page one! It was soooo good! Storm made me laugh so hard at some points. Definitely an absolute read!

while it started not too bad and promising it quickly went downhill as i had several wtf moments. i mean chase badiaclly got killee becausebof his sister.m shouldnt she feel more guilty about that and they talk about organ selling like its normal? bugged me out and annoyed me. i can like mafia romance but this was too sick for me. the smut was good tho. thats why a 3 starts because i was curious about that most of i have 2 be honest.

This was a predator/prey, bully, enemies to lovers romance I was not expecting. Rebel and Storm's relationship is very toxic, but it develops into a less toxic love, and into a twisted love instead.

Rebel torments Storm into being his, and when her brother goes missing and things get dark his entire demeanor changes too. Instead of tormenting her, he takes care of her, a surprising turn that I didn't really see coming.

Plot ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I enjoyed this read for the most part, the relationship between the two MCs was great to read. However, the other characters relationships were lacking. The female lead had a character close to her pass away and it was like it hardly bothered her at all. Just details like that just made this book feel not quite right.

I just couldn’t force myself to finish this book. It reads like a first draft of a someone’s first attempt at writing. The second hand embarrassment I felt with these characters was so real. Also the whole brother thing was so weird. Her reaction, just everything about that became the final straw for me and I DNFd.

Graveyard parties

I loved reading about Rebel and Storm. I think when she fought him back is when he fell in love with her. Lol She wasn't afraid of him. This book was sad too though with what happened. I'm glad she found her happy ending though. Because he pur her through a lot! On to Stray's story.

This felt really rushed from the beginning but I persevered because I wanted an easy read.

None of the characters were likeable, and it felt like Storm's friends were forgotten about for a good chunk until it was convenient to mention them again.

Storm and Rebel were both uninteresting as characters and there wasn't any chemistry between them at all.

This was bully romance with a hell of a lot of bullying. Storm isn’t your typical girl who folds to the bullying and stood her ground! Rebel picked the wrong girl for that. So much going on here that I’m not going to spoil anything. Go in with your eyes wide open and enjoy the ride!

Reas the trigger warnings!!!!

This book was full of drama, suspense, bullying, dark-obsessive romance. Rebel's and Storm's story is dark academia at it's best. There is an HEA in Rebel, but it's a twisty, angsty road to get there.

Better than most tropes!

This was really good! I liked that the academic bully trope did not contain every cliche known to man. The plot twist was unexpected and made the story. HEA!

I could not finish. This writing was just not good. It was juvenile. Honestly the FMC and MMC have zero chemistry. It feels sloppy. Just no.
