After serving ten years behind bars, Zane Green is finally free.
Or is he?
Prison changed Zane. He became a man after God’s own heart, and he made God a Zane would never again be swept away by emotions. From now on, he would follow God’s will, not his own feelings.
And that no more music. Music is dangerous. It makes him feel too much.
His rock star brothers refuse to understand this. They are so eager to get him to move to Nashville and join their band, it’s driving him nuts. But staying home with Mom is driving him nuts too.
Shortly after arriving in Nashville, he meets the beautiful Kaminique, a strong, independent, faith-driven musician. She’s unlike anyone he’s ever met before, and she seems quite intent on making mincemeat of the protective walls he’s painstakingly built.
The more he gets to know her, the weaker those walls become.
Has he been wrong about what God wants? Does he get to have a real life after what he’s done? Does he get to have love?

Binge the completed Book 1: Jordan Book 2: Cody Book 3: Warren Book 4: Zane
This is the story of the fourth brother in this series. We've heard a little bit about Zane in each of the previous books. He was the keyboard player in the brothers' band, until he went to prison. Now he's out, and trying to adjust to life outside. His brothers want him to join them in the band. He wants nothing to do with music. His mother worries about him all the time. He doesn't know where he fits in, or what he's going to do with his life. He just wants peace, and it's not in Nashville, so he heads west. He stops in Memphis, where he shares a moment of understanding with Johnny Cash, and finally ends up in California. When Zane is drawn back to Nashville, and to music, he discovers that playing is healing for him and he begins to find the peace he has been looking for. I highly recommend this book, as well as the others in the series. While each is a standalone with no cliffhangers, reading them in order will give you more understanding and enjoyment . The author has provided a playlist that will add another dimension to your enjoyment of the story. Take the time to listen, you will be glad that you did.
I fell in love with this series when I first read Jordan, and I just got pulled in further and further into his family of talented brothers with each book after.
I was so happy to finally get to read Zane’s story, the one brother we knew so little about. But I already knew I would love him just from the way his family loved him so much. And I did. His vulnerability, his pure heart, his love for his family, his desire to protect himself fighting with his desire to live his dreams. And his healing. I love how this author always shows us the healing!
This was a romance, a sweet one at that, but it was so much more. While tough issues were addressed, like in every Robin Merrill book I’ve read, they were dealt with in a way that only offered hope, which I appreciated so much! And laughs—there were lots of laughs! In short, I loved it!
This is the last book in the Baxter Cove series and what an ending to this series! This is one book I just couldn't put down. Robin Merrill did such an awesome job depicting the difficulty of assimilating back into society after spending years in prison. However, after working in a prison for 12 years, I cannot imagine anyone interested in beginning a relationship with a former inmate without finding out what they were convicted of first. This book is all about grace and mercy, even if you don't deserve it. I would reccommend the entire series.
A beautifully written, sad to joyous story of God’s blessings and gifts to each of us. Zane had to get past the need to punish himself, not truly accepting God’s gift of forgiveness and denying the gifts he’d been given. Loved Kam’s description of Zane as Lazarus, brought back to life, but refusing to take off the funeral clothing. Have truly enjoyed this series. If you ever decided to, would love to read more as their families and career grow.
I’ve enjoyed everyone on Robin’s books(and love that I found Ben Fuller thru one) but I feel like I’ve been left hanging with the ending of this series. Loved the emotional detail of Zane’s story and the word depiction of Lazarus removing the grave clothes.
As usual with Robins books it's a mix of easy read, romance and life with God. Deeper issues as grace, is that for everyone even those who don't deserve it ??? Food for thought ! I'd recommend you to read this series. This is the 4th book.
The series was great and rounded off in this crescendo. Each character had different struggles, but they felt true. I was engaged in the development of the story and was not disappointed in the resolution.
A great read! It really pulled me in emotionally. Just when I wondered what was happening, the story took a great turn. A story about music, healing and acceptance.
