Shadows of Bourbon Street by Deana Chase is a 2014 Bayou Moon Press, LLC publication. I was provided a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.

Finally, it is the big day for Jade and Kane. The guest are seated and the bridal march starts, but something is off. Before the vows can be exchanged an Angel halts the ceremony and calls Jade and Kane into service. The mission? Another witch has been sucked into the portal of hell, and Jade and Kane must save her. But, as usual things get a lot more complicated before all is said and done.

OK, I hate it when that moment arrives you have been waiting for throughout 4 previous books in a series and before you can even digest what just happened, all bests are off. Grrrr!! So, I was in a funk right off, and it got worse when a witch spells Kane and he becomes an incubus demon hunter feeding off sex for his power. This was a twist I didn't see coming and didn't like too much, but this is just how things go in the magical world Jade lives in. So, I can only imagine what the long term effects will be for the couple but these two have survived every challenge they have ever faced , so I'm sure they will adjust once again to some added element to their unusual relationship.

The danger is real as black magic rears it's ugly head again. Not stop action and suspense is the name of the game here and once more I glued to the pages. Now, Jade and Kane have faced many serious crisis in the past, ones that seemed much more tense than the situation in this book, but this story felt a lot more serious for some reason than the four previous installments. I'm not sure why I felt that way, but Jade was a little more subdued than usual and her usual sarcasm and deadpan one liners were few and far between.
I am intrigued by the idea of Vaughn and Mati getting there own story. I can't wait to see how that turns out.

The burning question of course is whether or not the couple will finally be left in peace long enough to say “ I do”. Well, you will have to read the book to find out of course but I do think you will be happy with how things turned out.

Another solid addition to the series. 4 stars

Just as awesome as I expected! Some really unexpected things happened in this book and I can't event talk about them yet because noone I know has read it yet. Come on people it is wonderful and frustrating and sweet and frightening. Hurry up and read it!

Things start going awry right in the middle of Jades wedding and don't slow down until the end. One of the many issue they have to address is Lucian's Black Heart Curse! When Kat's life is threaten, his need to use magic becomes a danger to both of them! And Kane's life takes a really unexpected twist! We new characters; some of whom we hope never to hear again, but there are a couple that I hope to meet in future books. This Delightful story takes place near the end of Mardi Gras; you can imagine what the city is like! Love these guys. Thank you Ms Chase for giving us another visit with our friends from New Orleans.

If you have read any of my reviews, you know that I don't give 5 stars here until I have reread the book and that I only review books that I love.

Jade and Kane are getting ready to marry when they are called upon to rescue Matisse. Matisse is stuck in another dimension after giving all her power to Vaughn, an incubus. Without his knowledge, Kane is transformed into an incubus and demon hunter by Dayla, a sex witch and Matisse's aunt. As Jade struggles to get Matisse back, Lucien is in trouble. He is about to give into the black magic to save Kat from a witch using black magic. Mitch is evil, the person who placed the black heart curse on Lucien. Mitch is angry with Jade, for neutralizes the curse and getting even with Kat, Lucien and Jade. Its a story of evil battling with good. Fighting for what is right and ridding the earth of evil.
It is a page turner as you struggle with the concept of Kane becoming an incubus and demon hunter. But, if you stick with the story and keep turning the pages, you are surprised and actually enjoy the story..

What a fun rollercoaster!!
There were a few twists that I did not see coming and it was interesting. As the previous books this one is just as spicy! It was great seeing Jade work on her own and just a few witches this time instead of the entire coven. For me, it was a test-maybe without her knowing for things to come because Jade is truly a strong white witch. We met a few newer witches and omg. They are on another level.
I listened to the audiobook and the narrator was great. It was easy to follow along and easy to distinguish the characters.

Ahhhhh, another Jade Calhoun novel that kept me up all night finishing it!!!

I have been in love with this series since I came across book one and read it within the day. Deanna never fails to disappoint with her humor and the raw emotions she makes you feel right alongside the characters.

I love all of Deanna's books and this one didn't let me down! Can you say hottttttt?! I swear the magic between Kane and Jade could knock me outta my chair.

You can't make a mistake with this series!

BUY THEM ALL!

Thourghly enjoyed books 1-4 but I’m sorry just couldn’t get into book 5, it’s too far off veeering into a weird direction where it is separating the main character couple. The drama is too much and at the same time incredibly boring! I’m impressed by how the author managed to pull that off. Too dramatic & still boring going nowhere really fast. Wow! Main male has been turned into an incubus demon and separated from his “too be” wife on wedding day.. and it’s heart breaking it apprears their lives are being ripped away in two different directions and the drama drama llama, drags it on and on and on! Oh gosh just make a decision already? (Directed at author) I don’t know it’s just taking too long to get to the meat of the story, book 5 lacks the action and heart of the main characters & their relationships. Sorry DNF it felt like author was bored with her own story and trying to take the characters somewhere, new she honestly just should have given them a happy ending and moved on to one of the MFC’s girlfriends & her romantic life. That would have been a better continuation for this series!

This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. This book will keep you reading long into the night. If you are looking for a great book, then you need to read this book. I am looking forward to reading the next book by this great author. I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader’s copy of this book. The free book held no determination on my personal review.

Kade and Jade are getting married--or are they? Weddings are hard enough to plan let alone plan in a hurry. But things are going well--if you don't count the mother of the groom on a mission to collect a neck-full of beads from Mardi Gra partiers and wear them to the formal wedding. Then, of course, there is the interruption from her boss to take on a rescue mission--now--in the middle of the ceremony. Nothing can change her mind.

The mission turns life-changing for both of them. The question is will they be alive when it's all over.

Friends stand by them. Enemies try to rob their powers. Black magic wars with good magic. When they solve one situation another pops up. This one is non stop. We can count on friendship and family love and loyalty. Hold on to your hats this ones gonna have hurricane force behind it.

Will they finally get married?

Another good book in this great series.

Let me start by saying I highly recommend reading this series in order!
Following the characters growth has been so rewarding and extremely intense.
I can not believe what different people all of these characters are in just five books.

With all of the magic beings and the mystic battles Jade and Co. have come across I have to admit this was the first time I felt like the characters were taken a step too far.
But I'm sure it will all come together in the next books.

The storytelling and world building continues to be great as always.
The twists and turns were a little more predictable in this book but still a fun read.

Excellent story! I have been waiting for the wedding of Jade and Kane! Will it go off without a hitch, please! This action packed story has Jade in trouble as well as Pyper, Kat and more. Ghost are creating problems, Chessandra disrupts the wedding but we do know things will turn out fine. Lucien will get help and him and Kat will have a happy ending. With all the action, romance, twists to the plots you still have humor! I love the wedding which finally happens! Read and enjoy this excellent book which I give ten plus more stars!

A lot going on

As much as I like this series, the multiple storylines, even if they connect, can be overwhelming.
And a recurring theme in here is even though Jade is an uber powerful witch, it always seem like a point has to be made where she is weak and is a damsel in distress. I've noticed it before but it was very prominent in here. Like why make her have all this power then turn around to have her always needing to be saved. Super confusing and annoying.
Hopefully, this them will stop but I don't have high hopes.

At the end of the previous novel in Deanna Chase’s Jade Calhoun series, the Angel Council blackmailed Jade Calhoun and Kane Rouquette into becoming shadow walker agents for the council. Jade’s fractured half-soul, a condition caused by the Council itself, was in imminent danger of being completely possessed by the ghost of a murdered sex witch and needed to be healed. Since Jade possesses angel blood, only the Angel Council could approve and conduct such a procedure.

So a very nasty version of quid pro quo is demanded. The Angel Council agrees to heal Jade’s soul if she and Kane will commit to eternal servitude to the Council. Since her only other choice is death, Jade and Kane agree and are transformed into eternal mates and shadow walkers.

As I read this ending, I was perplexed as to why the Council wanted Kane, who is only a dreamwalker, as part of the deal. Well, in this novel, we find out exactly why they want Kane. We learn what they deliberately chose not to tell Jade and Kane prior to the healing and bonding. And we come to know that the angels in this series are not the kinfolk of those spirits rife in the Debbie Macomber books. As Jade and the reader finally realize, the physical, ethical and moral boundaries between Chase’s angels and their demon counterparts are thinner than a hair’s breadth.

As this novel begins, several weeks have passed since the bonding procedure. It is Jade’s and Kane’s wedding day, with honeymoon to Italy planned, and shadow walker training to begin shortly thereafter. Just as the minister asks the age-old question of whether anyone has an objection to the marriage, Chessandra and Drake, from the Angel Council, blast into the ceremony. And, just like that, the wedding is aborted and our principle characters are spirited into another dimension.

It seems that Chessandra’s sister, Matisse, is a witch working for the Council and Matisse has been caught in a shadow realm by a failed spell. No other shadow walkers have been able to retrieve her and she is near death. Wedding day or not, Jade and Kane are ordered into the breach.

Needless to say, this early into the book, the rescue attempt fails. In fact, only Jade makes it into where Matisse is located. Kane is thrown back into the real world because Matisse is not in the shadows. She is in a different plane of existence altogether, not Hell, not Purgatory, but a void. And dreamwalkers cannot travel between the different realms.

When even Jade is unable to return Matisse to the present, she and Kane begin asking some serious questions as to why Matisse is really there. They learn that Matisse is not only Chessandra’s sister, she is also the niece of the coven leader for the Coven Pointe witches in New Orleans. Now, Jade has never heard of this coven, a group literally in her own backyard. No one in her own coven has ever mentioned the slightest word about the existence of other witches in the area.

When Jade and Kane approach Dayla, the other coven’s leader, to get information on Matisse, Dayla, without warning, brutally attacks Jade with potentially lethal spells. Barely surviving the attack, Jade realizes why her coven has shunned these other witches. The Coven Pointe members are sex witches, a type of witch who derives her power, not from the earth, but from successful sexual congress. And Jade quickly discovers that this group will use anybody in any manner to get their power and they will use that power in any way they see fit to achieve their goals, regardless of who it hurts. They are not black witches, but they are not the nicest souls in the universe either.

Before Jade can get the answers she needs, Dayla puts a binding spell on her powers and captures Kane into a trance. What Dayla knows – and what Chessandra has failed to tell Kane – is that dreamwalking is not really a psychic phenomenon, as Kane believes. Dreamwalking is actually a genetic trait possessed by a supernatural being whose true nature and consciousness lies dormant until it is unleashed by a sex witch. And Dayla unlocks Kane’s dormant creature against Kane’s will.

At this point, Deanna Chase does far more than just curve the story arc in a new direction or throw in a slight twist to capture the reader’s attention. The bombshell she levels on the reader, and on the lives of Jade and Kane, is nothing short of being literally mind-altering, body-bending and potentially lethal – particularly to Jade.

Do not expect to get much done in your daily life from this point on. Sleep is definitely out of the question. Just this one twist alone is enough to give you high blood pressure, if you don’t have it already. By the time Chase expands this new plotline and deals with several issues recurring from previous books that leech into this storyline, you will be exhausted from the non-stop tension and fear. And there are at least three characters, including Dayla, and particularly Dayla, that you will want to snatch right out of your book or reader and choke into oblivion.

By the end of the tale, you may well be looking over your own shoulder, waiting for the next attack. You will definitely be wary of calling the ending an HEA. Quite frankly, the outright lies generated, the lies of omission discovered and the change in Kane’s supernatural status do not bode well for the newly established Rouquette family. But, in any event, for better or for worse, Chase’s next novel in the series should be quite the adventure.

The big day has finally come for Jade and Kane! One of my favorite things about the Jade Callhoun series is that, even though Jade is in a relationship, she doesn't have to stop and wait for Kane to come in and save the day. This book shows how strong Jade is as a person and as a witch, and it also shows how strong her relationship is with Kane. Deanna Chase makes you feel like you're right there in the middle of everything and Traci Odom brings the story to life.

It takes a great writer to have me so pissed off at characters that I want to slam my Kindle in their face.

That's Deanna Chase, and this book. It made me, as a reader, so, so angry at some characters! Why? For the sheer injustice that happens to both Kane and Jade (especially Kane). And for what happens around the middle of the book, too. At least I finished the read with a big smile on my face!

I might have been late to the Jade party, but that's my only regret. I love those books!

Let me start by saying Deanna Chase is one of my favorite authors and I received this as a free audible book and on kindle unlimited...

I love Jade and friends...

My favorite show stealer though, is the minister! Hope he shows up again.

The black curse is lifted... Kat gets her man... but all ain’t right...

Glad the next books always pick up where the previous one stops...

Audiobook review: It’s the wedding day but as one can expect things do not go as planned. Plenty of action and romance in this story. The characters are likable and entertaining. The storyline is interesting. The narrator did a great job bringing the characters to life. I received a free copy of this audiobook at my request and have voluntarily left this review.

Til Death Do Them Part

Jade and Kane are set to be married, when the damn Angel Council interrupts the ceremony and send Jade and Kane to save a stranded sex witch. Will wedding bells ever ring for Jade and Kane? Buy the book and find out! Oh yeah: Dayla sucks; you can tell her I said that.

Oh I’ve missed Jade and Kane and boy was this a good book! I knew that wedding would never go as planned and now Kane is a new kick ass Incubus! So many happy endings in this one so you know the next one will be a kick in the teeth for them 😂 definitely a good supernatural series if this is what you love with witches, demons , angels and now incubus what’s next?

Finally!

Hurricane Shelia blows into town and Nola is about as prepared as anything can be. Kane receives a permanent wedding present whether he likes it or not. And we learn that sometimes, the one that's needed most to save the day isn't always who we think of first.

I'm not sure why I keep reading this series. When Jade is not waiting for Kane to make her strong, she is giving up on her self. When it is not about Kane and Jade, it is pretty good. The other characters are good, but Jade's usability to function without Kane is seriously annoying .

That Dayla character is a royal pair, I hope at some point Jade gets to blast her into oblivion. That was just plain rude. Hopefully this incubus thing doesn't destroy them in the future.

Nonstop excitement

I expected a lot to happen in this book between Jade and Kane's wedding and their new role as Shadowhunters, but I got a lot more than I bargained for. It was constant chaos and suspense, with some very steamy sex scenes mixed in.

This series just gets weirder as it goes on.

A wedding interrupted by an angel with a missing witch sister. A groom that gets zapped by another witch and that turns him into a demon fighting inccubus. What ever happened to a simple wedding ?
