In this modern Manhattan fairytale, Prince Charming is the one conning Cinderella…

Cynthia Swan knows that her life isn’t a fairytale. Living in Manhattan while working long hours as an intern veterinarian by day and waiting tables at night to make ends meet has knocked the fairy dust out of her eyes. But on her way home from working an Upper East Side cocktail party Cyn meets Cameron. Prince Charming might not exist, but allowing herself one night with a charming personal trainer couldn’t hurt anything.

Cameron Prince, CEO of Prince Enterprises, has always been skeptical about happily ever after. His father is on his eleventh divorce and if there’s one thing that has taught Cameron it’s that being a billionaire brings a world of opportunities but it makes love doubly hard to find. But one night he comes to the aid of a beautiful woman who mistakes him for a down-on-his-luck personal trainer. It seems harmless to let the fantasy play out, it’s only for one night and after all there’s no such thing as forever.

But neither Cyn nor Cameron are satisfied with just one night. For the first time he gets to be himself with a woman without all his family baggage and she’s finally found a man she can trust with her wounded heart. But as Cyn opens up and Cameron starts to think about forever, what began as an innocent case of mistaken identity becomes a guilty weight around his neck. Will Cameron be able to convince Cyn he’s still worthy of her love and trust once she learns of his lies?

Author's Note: Recipe for THE ICE PRINCE - Take a secret billionaire hero. Add an everyday girl heroine. A pinch of mistaken identity. A dash of one night stand. Season with a couple of quirky cats, a bunch of nosy family members, and a singing strip-o-gram with a memorable confetti climax. Finished with a heavy sprinkle of snarky, snarky banter. Steam Level: Sizzling. Shenanigan Level: Extreme. Feels: Big time.

THE ICE PRINCE is part of Edwina Darke’s family saga The Princes of Manhattan series. While it can easily be read as a stand-alone story, you'll likely enjoy reading the other books too.

2,5 💘😤⭐️s

It was a nice romance read. Predictable but well written that held my interest.
The characters were likeable and easy to connect with, the pace was smooth, it had low angst and drama.
The premise was very interesting! There are seven brothers, all of them sharing the same father but not all the same mother, because dear father was already divorcing wife number 10!!

I would have enjoyed it more if it wasn’t told in 3rd person and IF IT HAD AN EPILOGUE!!! 😡
Tbh, it spoils my mood when I have to join the author’s newsletter in order to get the epilogue I deserve as a reader of the current book!! 🙄
I find this trick preposterous! When I get a book, I expect it to be whole and not epilogue-missing due to ulterior motives!!! 😤

I had a glance at the next part and it has the same writing style and join-my-newsletter-and-receive-the-epilogue issue, so I will not continue with this series... ❌

Cynthia and Cameron. She is working hard to become a veterinarian and he is a billionaire pretending to be a personal trainer so she will give him a chance, romantically. Good characters and lots of fun getting to know them. Cameron has a whole bunch of brothers and I'm sure we will get to know them all in future books. The story is very slightly like the fairytale of Cinderella and so was predictable but otherwise fun.

For the most part I enjoyed this book. The family dynamic is what kept me going. I liked both of them until the end. It was predictable but I had sort of hoped for more from both of them. Yes she should have been mad but I felt she got whiny. His quitting his job to be what he she thought his job was way overkill. I might read more of the brothers books.

Var jag vaken typ hela natten för att fortsätta lyssna, ja. Var de en nyskapande romans jag aldrig hade kunnat gissat, nope. Men väldigt bra ändå.

Cinderella meets a Comedy of Errors

Cynthia 'Cyn' Swan, a vet making ends meet helping a catering business, loses her one prized Louis Vuitton during a one night stand instigated by her nosy sister accusing her of having 'no fun.' Cyn is a hardworking woman finding herself slipping into a casual to not so casual relationship with the charming personal trainer she meets at the bar only to find out she didn't really know him at all...

Cameron 'Ice Prince' Prince
Fed up after hearing of his father's tenth divorce, Cameron seeks out a night of peace after a hard work out at the local bar only to willingly step in for the gorgeous woman attempting to defend herself from a rude 'suit.' Finding out she dislikes businessmen, Cameron goes along with her assumption that he is a personal trainer, pretending to be Mr. Normal and not the billionaire CEO of Prince Enterprises.

The romance between Cyn and Cameron is sweet with a hint of steam. Cameron begins to spend less time at work. Cyn begins to have more fun. Both of these characters are surrounded by two of the nosiest and intrusive families I've ever seen. Cameron's six brothers gossip more than a church sewing circle. Cyn stubbornly refuses to accept money from her mother; money in general is a sensitive topic setting up some conflict between her and Cameron.

The story trope worked really well with the characters. Couple meets, falls in love, lies discovered, forgiveness and HEA. In a nutshell. Peppered with a crazy family and two adorable cats.

I gave this story four stars because it's a solid book but I'd like to have seen more heat between the characters. I must say, though, the emotional intimacy between these characters is exquisite. They need each other emotionally and it's incredibly endearing.

Definitely read this book. The characters are great. The family will drive you nuts. The animals will make your heart swell. The series continues with Cameron's crazy brothers. I cannot wait to see what kind of trouble Dominic gets himself into!!

I was sent this book for free and am voluntarily leaving a review. Thank you, thank you, thank you! I will definitely be reading the rest of the series.

This was a quick and cute read, I enjoy fairy tale retellings and thought that the author's spin on things was interesting. I loved that it was written in the third-person and I didn't have to wade through the endless, repetitive, inner monologues that mark so many first-person romances these days.
Rom-coms for me are very much palate cleansers for me. They are always enjoyable, make me smile, and almost always get me out of a book slump. Ice Prince did that very thing for me today.
This is a loosely Cinderella like story, complete with missing shoe, but a step family isn’t evil, and any slaving away that Cyn does is her own choices and dedication to her life as a vet. I like Cyn. Honestly, I’m animal obsessed so she was sure to be likable to me. She’s also a very hard worker who has dealt with a lot of sadness in her life, but has preserved in spite of it. I just like her personality, I would want to be friends with her.
Cameron as a hero is very likable. He’s a really good brother, to what can only be described as a complicated family life. His dad apparently really enjoys getting married and divorced resulting in a heck of a lot of siblings. He’s a smart guy, who is good at his job, but is under a lot of stress. It totally understandable while being someone other than himself would be enjoyable for him. But even he knows its not the best idea. This is not a book that’s heavy on the heat, but more lighthearted and emotional connection. Definitely gave me hallmark movie vibes and i was invested. It was a quick fun read for me. I could definitely see myself reading again. 🥰🥰

Edwina Darke, ‘The Ice Prince: The Princes of Manhattan’.
The Many Marriages of Richard Prince (62).

As an Hidden Gems ARC reader I received a free copy of this book and voluntarily promised an honest review. Here it is.

Rating: 3 (of 5 stars).

In general: Sweet Love Story.

Main characters:
- Cynthia ‘Cyn’ Swan.
When she was a kid first her mother died. Her dad, a firefighter, remarried but after two years he also died. It left her with her stepmother Valerie and stepsister Dani.

- Cameron Prince (32).
CEO of Prince Enterprise, a very successful company, founded by his father.
This almost completely retired dad is becoming a bit of a problem, being in his tenth divorce. All these divorces caused a lot of of alimentation lawsuits and costs.

Cynthia meets Cameron in a bar. She’s challenged by her stepsister Dani to do more than only work or study and enjoy a bit of her youth with some unexpected, unplanned actions for once.
He is frustrated for he was just informed that his dad was planning a new divorce that would probably lead to many complicated legal complications again. After a work out in his gym he went to a bar.
There he saved Cyn from a harassing drunk who didn’t accept her ‘not interested’ remark. Cynthia clearly told him she hated arrogant ‘yups in blue suits’ and admired ‘blue collar’-ed men who had honest jobs a lot more. After the incident she chatted some time with Cameron.
Cyn assumed that her savior in his workout clothes was something like a personal trainer. Cameron decided not to tell her his real name and ‘Blue Suit’ job.
Then the author, Edwina Drake, describes how Cynthia step by step falls in love with her ‘personal trainer’. Cameron wants to tell her the truth when their relationship becomes more serious but is too afraid to do so. And not quite unexpectedly there is a major crisis when Cynthia discovers his real identity.
Not the most original plot, but the author described a few interesting, credible characters, added many nice dialogues and some sweet scenes, so she created an easy to read, sweet love story.

This is book one in The Prince's of Manhattan Series and it is Cynthia and Cameron's story and omg this book is a great start to a new series and it is a real page turner and a must read. Cyn has gone through so much tragedy in her life when she was younger and now she was doing a waitress job to make money while completing her vet's internship to become a qualified Vet so she didn't have time for anything else, Cyn had just finished her job when she decided to go and get a drink but the night turned out different to what she was expecting. Cameron was called the Ice Prince for the way he handled his life and company and the only thing that could make him different is his father who thought that it was okay to keep getting married and divorced so he went to the bar to get a drink when he heard the news that his father was getting a divorce from wife number ten after only being married for five months and it was always up to Cameron to clean up after his father but that might changed the rest of his life. When Cameron and Cyn met at the pub they had an instant and strong chemistry between them and they ended up having an amazing night together but Cyn was not there in the morning so Cameron set out to find her. Cameron and Cyn have a strong connection and the more time they spend together the stronger there feelings towards each other grew but Cameron has a big secret that he has kept from Cyn but she finds out that secret in a way that completely breaks her and she is so angry, sad, feels a fool and devastated that Cameron lied to her after everything that they had shared together but will she ever be able to forgive him or is that the end for them. This book was a absolutely amazing read and it was so addictive that I couldn't put it down. This is the first book that I have read by Edwina Darke but definitely not the last as it was so well written and kept you on the edge of your seat wondering what else would happen and I can't wait to read the next book in this series.

Cyn works at a veterinary practice and has some past emotional hang-ups regarding her stepmother. Cameron Prince has a bizarre extended family, as his father Richard Prince has been married eleven times. When they meet he helps her avoid unwanted advances. They have a passionate encounter that leaves him with one forgotten Valentino heel in his hands, desperately looking for her phone number. When they finally meet again he realizes that she thinks he's a personal trainer, and as she said something that made him think she despises men in suits it becomes harder and harder for Cameron to tell the truth about his family business.

I liked the story and the little Cinderella twists were just right, not taking over the story. I would consider reading other books in the series.

I did find it a little unlikely that Cyn would stay in the dark about Cameron's identity for so long. She had googled and found his mother, and Cameron had told her about his siblings and his father's ex-wifes, including names. When she hears Cameron's father's name it is familiar to her, and apparently the family is a bit famous as they have the paparazzi hounding them at the party. So if she had heard about Richard Prince, surely his eleven marriages would always get mentioned, and it is unusual enough that she would note the coincidence with Cameron's story.

Apparently this is a series and Cameron's siblings will get their own books. I liked the siblings although granted, I found it a little hard to keep everyone's relationships straight, despite the chart in the beginning of the book. Now I am wondering whether Richard Prince and Cameron's mother Audrey will get back together.

I received free review copy and this is a voluntary review.

Cute and full of Family

Part of what makes this book so enjoyable is the situations these two’s families manage to get themselves into, but our couple in question is probably the most down to earth of the bunch. I really liked their respective mothers, the sibling relationships, and the wide variety of animals that make an appearance in the book. This is not a book that’s heavy on the heat, but more lighthearted and emotional connection. It was a quick fun read for me.

This was a quick and cute read, I enjoy fairy tale retellings and thought that the author's spin on things was interesting. I loved that it was written in the third-person and I didn't have to wade through the endless, repetitive, inner monologues that mark so many first-person romances these days.

Cyn has no time for relationships, but after her step-sister encourages her to relax a little she stops into a bar for a drink where she has to ward off some unwanted attention from one of the "suits" there (why she is so anti-suit is left unanswered). Cameron, a suit by day, had stopped by the same bar dressed in his workout gear and intercedes on her behalf. Before you can say bippity-boppity-boo, Cyn and Cameron are enjoying a night of passion. Cyn leaves in the morning but accidently leaves one of her Valentino Rockstud slingbacks behind. When Cameron finally tracks Cyn down to return her shoe and further their acquaintance he doesn't correct her incorrect assumption that he's a personal trainer rather than a rich businessman because he wants her to give him a chance.

Naturally that decision blows up in his face, but love prevails.

I enjoyed the dynamic of Cyn and her stepmother and stepsister, and especially the way that the relationships grew over the course of the book, despite the circumstances. I would have liked to see more of her working with the animals as a vet, but the scene of her at the animal shelter was pretty good.

Cameron for me was kind of meh, his family was too large to really get a firm grasp on and I never really did get his family tree straight, which distracted the reader from really seeing who he was as a character. He was an okay enough hero, but nothing special and didn't really experience the growth that Cyn did. I though his response to the inevitable conflict was bizarre, and though the author probably intended it to be funny, it landed flatly. Actually a couple of the "funny" scenes felt a little forced.

All in all, I enjoyed the book, would probably read more by that author but am not filled with an overwhelming desire to read more at them moment, especially given that they are not part of the KU program and are priced a little more than I would be willing to pay.

Cyn is working on becoming a veterinarian and keeping as many side jobs as she can to make ends meet. Cameron is the CEO of a company and is trying to deal with the anger and fallout of his father’s 10th (yep you read that right!) divorce. When these two meet, sparks fly but Cyn believes he’s someone he’s not and Cameron realizes he needs to keep the pretense going because he really likes Cyn. What follows is partially what you might expect but it’s a feel-good, fun story that’s absolutely worth reading.
This is my first book by this author and I really look forward to more! Not only did this book keep my attention and was entertaining, I had laugh out loud moments that brought tears to my eyes because the funny parts were so well written I could just ‘see’ it happening! Loved it!

I am leaving this review voluntarily after being sent a free book.

This was such a breath of fresh air
If you are like me who like to read something fun and cleansing after a dark or complicated read then this book is for you
This is a modern retelling of Cinderella
Cyn (cinderella) and Cameron (prince charming) bring out this fairy tale with hilarious dialogue giving you all the important moments of the original story
I also loved that the writer did not make out the stepmother and stepsister as evil, but were loving supportive family
My only critique is the (meddling trope) it is when the ML fucks up and the ppl around him rise up to support him by pleading his case and justifying his act
Just give him the chance to grovel
If this was presented by a big publication company I would have given it 3 stars because it does need some editing
But this is by an indie author and the overall work was very good
I will be reading the rest of the series

Loved it!

Great read! Loved the hints of the Cinderella story. The lost shoe, the charming Cameron Prince, the mocking PI asking if he should fit the shoe to every maiden in the land to find this mystery lady. Cameron’s family dynamics were crazy and fun. His father having been married 11 times, the ex-wives had a club and all of the half siblings were close (and nosy) Cynthia’s family (step mother and sister too) was much smaller but just as loving and close. And that’s just their families! Loved everything about the way the met and Cameron’s misguided effort to make a place in her life by pretending to be a personal trainer (because he’d been dressed way down in sweats when they met and she assumed) when she tore a strip off a guy in a suit that was hitting on her, leaving Cameron to think she hated business men and wouldn’t give him a chance.

This was a fun retelling of Cinderella!
Cameron Prince and Cyn Swan.
Cameron is the CEO of prince enterprises and goes to the bar one night and decides to swoop in and help a damsel in distress, a lewd man trying to flirt with Cyn.
Cyn and Cameron hit it off instantly and go back to a hotel together. The next morning, Cyn is no where to be found in the room, but she left a note, and accidentally left her show.
Cameron a trying to find a way to get the show back to her. He has a PI find Cyn so he can get her phone number. But Cyn went back to the bar where they first met, and let a note with the bartender for Cameron. They start causally seeing each other. But Cameron hasn’t admitted who he actually is yet. He gave his mother’s maiden name to Cyn and she thinks he’s a personal trainer not some billionaire. And obviously that needs to blow up in his face.

So good

I discovered this author when I got an ARC from the Hidden Gems ARC program of Edwina’s book The Not-So-Ugly Stepsister Finally Got Her Guy (Dani and Juan’s story). I loved that hilarious story because of the interactions between Dani and her stepsister Cub.

A preview of this book was included and I have been not so patiently waiting for this book to be released because it was just SO good. Well the full-length version did not disappoint!! I laughed and chuckled, grinned and groaned through the entire book because Cameron makes some wildly stupid mistakes while dating Cyn, all because he is falling so hard for her.

I am excited to read the next Prince brother’s book, Dominic is up next in the Wild Prince.

Cyn is a veterinarian in training who works long hours. Being attractive, she is often hit on but no one has caught her fancy until she meets this casually dressed guy in a bar being harassed by a suited jerk. Standing up for him, they hit it off, resulting in an ongoing relationship. However, Cameron is being dishonest that his family owns Prince's Enterprises in NYC, instead allowing her to believe he is a personal trainer. However, this secret becomes more difficult to conceal, promising he'll tell her the truth. Unfortunately she learns in a most public, embarrassing way that affects the relationship from going forward. Great book that will maintain your attention throughout in this modern day fairy tale.

This was kind of sweet romance with poor working girl Cynthia, who meets a guy Cameron, that she thinks is personal trainer. He doesn't correct her impression and keeps dating her. He is really CEO of Prince Enterprises and rich AF. His family is a mess with many step siblings as his dad was married 10 times (yes everyone is appalled and disgusted with this) even though the dad stays on good terms with many of his former wives and richly supports them.
Because of this Cameron doesn't believe in marriage/love and works all the time - no serious relationships. Cyn however knocks him off balance and he falls for her but will pay the price for his deception.
I like the book and the characters will read more of this series.

Endearing
Cyn and Cameron are two wonderful characters that you won’t be able to keep from rooting for from the time they’re introduced. After losing both of her parents she is living with her stepmother. She met Cameron when he defended her from an obnoxious drunk in a bar. He doesn’t tell her who he really is as he wants her to like him and not his money. Believing he is a personal trainer she continues to see him. What will happen when she finally learns who he really is?
Wonderful characters in this well written and original book make this a must read.

I received an ARC from the author thru Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving my review. Cyn and Cameron make up the unlikely romance story in the first book of the Princes of Manhattan. Regardless of a misconception on her part and a lie on his, these two are perfect for each other. Their relationship starts out simple enough but grows into so much more. You could see how they find something they never knew that they needed. His lie could bring all that they have built tumbling down. Cameron is going to have to prove to Cyn that he is who she fell in love with.

Cute

After a catering job, Cyn is on her way home when her sister pretty much dares her to go and have fun. She decides on one drink at a bar.

Cameron is brooding in the corner of said bar, annoyed after his own father has decided to divorce his latest wife. He sees Cyn and decides to play a knight in shining sweatpants which doesn’t go according to plan but the two of them end up spending the night together. Next morning, Cyn disappears and Cameron is left without not one shoe but determination of finding Cyn. Determination will take him far and when he finds her again, Cameron and Cyn are swept up into a romance.

There’s just a little problem with said romance. Cyn thinks Cameron is a personal trainer when in actuality he’s the CEO and multi-billionaire. But love conquers all, right? Even lies about who you are and what you do for a living. Right?

This story is a cute one! The fake identity trope is always good and this one really leaned into it well. Cameron really falls head of heels in love and doesn’t see the error of his ways. Heart eyes all the way for our man.

Their romance is really sweet and I adored the moments these two had together. Sure, I think part of the fantasy is taking a leap of faith with this trope (there were definitely moments that would’ve set off bells about someone hiding something) but I really liked the fantasy/fairytale element.

The only thing I struggled with was Cyn’s sister Dani. Some of the things she did and said weren’t nice or supportive and I was actually really frustrated with her when she wanted to live through the humiliation Cyn went through. That’s not what you do for your family, especially when they are clearly hurting. She should’ve seen that was not the moment and her brushing off the hurt didn’t feel good.

Tropes:
Millionaire romance
Hidden / fake identity
He falls first

Wonderful audiobook, narrated by Brooke Bloomingdale and Sebastian York. They did a great job. Tiny criticism: Mr. York’s French accent (when he voices the matriarch of the family) leaves sometimes be desired. Fortunately there are only a few such conversations.

I really enjoyed both the romance and comedy of this novel’s plot. I never imagined there could be a believable contemporary Cinderella story. Even the parts of the story that were somewhat predictable were very nicely done and fun to read. And I definitely love the idea that there is a whole family of Princes to populate even more stories in the future.

A fun take on the billionaire trope.

A nice read: smooth, easy on the palate. The opening scene is awesome, as is the climax resolution that Cameron goes for. The characters were mostly likable, though I don't love the "miscommunication as conflict" plot. Mostly low angst. Low drama.

The sex scenes were trite and I skipped over them. Also, it's third person, and it felt rushed because of that. It was hard connecting with the characters because I just felt so removed from them.

Future Stacey: revisit if you like. There's not reason not to read the rest of the series, except that it just seems...meh. Very vanilla.

I had a wonderful time reading this. It was fast paced, cute, fluffy and just happy hahaha. It was also a bit predictable, but that was not necessarily a bad thing, I still had an enjoyable time. Everything was going fine, and I was set on 4 stars, but man the situation after she learned the truth, but just… everything was resolved very quickly, and everyone just ignored her feelings and emotions (hated her sister). I kind of wanted more grovel I guess. Also, the scenes’ transition were weird, the characters went from one thing to next without much explanation and something felt like some pages were missing. We’re getting the brothers’ stories too, right?

I received a free ARC from Hidden Gems for the promise of an honest review.

It was good. Cameron and Cynthia are from two different worlds. Cynthia or Cyn is a vet in training. Cameron is rich CEO. They met by chance at a bar. He came to her rescue when a man would not leave Cyn alone. They have a magical night together and Cameron hires a private investigator to find Cyn. Cyn and Cameron get to know each other but Cameron isn't truthful about who he is and what he does for a living. When Cyn finds out, things don't end well.

It is a cute story. A fast and easy read that is well written.

A modern take on the Cinderella fairytale, but with a twist: she’s a vet and he’s a billionaire CEO who she initially mistakes for a personal trainer (but he falls first).

I enjoyed this book so much I read it in a single sitting and have already downloaded the rest of the series. Four stars only because it didn’t blow me away like other reads have, and I personally think she forgave him far too easily (it moved too quickly in the book)(and that’s all I’ll say to avoid spoilers). It’s a storyline you know will finish in a happy ending, and that’s exactly what I needed from this book.

I’m a sucker for Cinderella retellings. With Bridgerton season 4 releasing soon. I’m hunting for all the Cinderella vibes.

While this didn’t hold the plot of the original tale. I still enjoyed it. It’s a cute romcom where there’s no evil stepfamily, a CEO instead of a price, and the best family dynamic. I loved every single one of his brothers. They have the best sense of humor. I wish it held more intrigue. He finds her within a few chapters. Since he knew her first name and career. All in all it was a fun and cute romcom!

Kind of Cinderella-esque at the beginning. It was cute.

Cyn is an independent woman on her way to being a veterinarian. Cameron is the oldest and runs his father’s prominent business. A chance encounter has them meeting and a missed opportunity at telling the truth might be the end of them.

It was cute I loved the family dynamic from both Cyn and Cameron’s family. They were both dysfunctional and yet loyal and loving.

Fun read.

This is the first book in Edwina Darke's "The Princes of Manhattan Series". A current day Cinderella-trope in an older release by a new-to-me author that I happened to stumble across. Easy-peasy and full of an array of emotional vibes that keep you flipping the pages with eagerness.

Two main characters that are perfect in the roles of the Prince and Cinderella – and yes, that famous shoe has a part as well!

A truly fun-to-read delight with wonderful characters I adored!
