There is an isekai gag early on in this volume as Bocchi’s fertile imagination gives her status as a total failure of a student the kind of glow-up that only she can. It is possibly the funniest joke this series has ever done.
From its perfect skewering of naming conventions to overpowered protagonists to the nonsensically busty female on the “cover” it just nails every single point of that overstuffed genre. Bocchi really getting into her female harem was icing on the cake.
This segment kills it, but it’s surrounded by a ton of other strong material that lifts it much higher in my estimation than recent volumes. Making Bocchi in particular funny without being too pathetic is a delicate balance and this volume gets it right more often than not.
She really shines when paired with her tsundere sort-of fan/rival, Ohtsuki. Ohtsuki may be a fantastic musician, but she has no social sense, so her and Bocchi trying to work together on a YouTube stream is perfect cringe. The two of them are enjoyably awful together.
And so it goes. There are some zany moments in this one - Kita runs away from home, but not very well, a Christmas concert suddenly overstates KSB’s popularity, and at least one band member is already morphing into a NEET.
I don’t want to go over every good bit, but there are a lot in this volume and it makes good use of the cast. The new kouhai at Starry are used sparingly, but very effectively, and they’re a solid addition to the series in small doses.
If you already like Bocchi, this will make your day, and if you were finding it a bit lacking the last couple of volumes, as I was, it definitely hits a lot more than it misses.

4koma hurts my eyes to read but hey nice plot

This volume I found funnier than the previous two volumes. I was bursting laughing almost the entire time reading it.

Didn't carry the momentum of the previous two volumes to my read, felt more like treading in place.
