Lowcountry Love

Rate this book
A novelette based on the characters from The Thing About Home and Bitter and Sweet. This may not be a story you will fully appreciate if you haven't read the novels.

Victoria Black's life of comfort and control is shaken when she travels to the South Carolina coast for the opening weekend of her daughter Casey and son-in-law Nigel's new beach resort, Black Sweetgrass. The successful widow has finally allowed herself to love again, with one of the investors in the resort. However, Victoria harbors deep fears of losing love. Will she let go of the ghosts of the past and embrace a new opportunity?

Mariah Holland has always wanted a cooking show. Years ago, the dream was stolen when her ex-husband evicted her from their home and his family restaurant. But now Mariah's dream is within reach; will a mishap in the kitchen cause her to lose all that she's prayed and worked for?

I loved this little story 💙

Who would have imagined Victoria ("The Thing About Home") and Mariah ("Bitter and Sweet") being humble? I really enjoyed this quick little read blending Rhonda's latest novels together. This is a teaser for her upcoming novel. I'm rooting for Victoria and Emory and Mariah and Dante. Don’t keep us waiting too long, Rhonda. 😊

I love an extended epilogue. A novella that features the main characters from Bitter and Sweet and The Thing About Home. From Bitter & Sweet it’s Dante, Mariah, Sabrina and their grandparents. From The Thing About Home - it’s Casey & Nigel, plus her cousins.

The occurrence is the opening of Sweetgrass the new resort that Casey and Nigel are opening. Their chef gets sick and Dante from Tabby’s Meats & Sweets is recommended to cater the soft opening.

It allows us to catch on both groups and see how they’re faring. Casey & Nigel married with a second baby on the way. Mariah getting a chance at a cooking show on TV. It also gives us an update on Victoria, Casey’s Mom.

I love extended epilogues and this one was perfect with the update.

It was great re-visiting characters from The Thing About Home and Bitter and Sweet. There’s nothing like family, food, a grand opening plus another surprise event, and a baby to bring people together in love and harmony. I enjoyed this sweet story that goes a little deeper into Victoria’s life so we understand her better. Mariah also gets some good news as one of her dreams is realized. It’s definitely a happy ending I was cheering for! Recommended for all Rhonda McKnight fans-

Excellent read

Excellent read, I loved the characters and storyline. This was an update on the characters from previous Low country books. This also highlights Victoria and Emory’s romance. Victoria is struggling with her fears of love and loss. She has to overcome her fears to fully embrace forever love and her life’s next chapter.

A redeeming Image

After reading A Thing About Home I left with a very unfavorable image of Victoria. This book has given me a different perspective of Victoria with me giving a little more grace.
I loved catching up with the characters from Bitter and Sweet

Victoria Black the one woman wonder. She has lived a life of trauma and has overcome so much to become a success. Despite, all of her accomplishments, Victoria fears love. This is a love match of mature adults. He is the one, bec she can also be hard to deal with, but he respects, loves and understands her enough to give her some space to figure things out. After having no plans to ever return to Carolina, here she is with a wonderful man in tow, and this may be the place where she surrenders to love.
