Having overcome the Wall of Thirty, Yuki restores her lost fingers and makes a full recovery. Not long after, she achieves her next milestone of clearing her fortieth game, and it seems like it’s smooth sailing from here. But everything changes during Cloudy Beach—Yuki’s forty-fourth game, one packed with veteran players who have also overcome the Wall of Thirty. On the game’s isolated island venue, Yuki stumbles upon a dismembered body reminiscent of the work of that sickening psychopath from Candle Woods…
Definitely liked this one better than the second volume, I don’t know if it had anything to do with it being new material (not in the anime) but regardless the whole werewolf concept on the beach was super interesting, but these “zombie” body modifications are a super stretch if I’ve ever seen one. The death games are so absurd I think you have to just enjoy it without thinking about the logistics at all, it’s a fantasy in my mind, obviously it’s not as grounded as squid games, but it is fun, and I think the lack of realism actually makes it more fun and less depressing. Same with the lack of gore.
