Can this unlikely couple really have a lifetime of love or will the reality of what lies ahead be the destruction of all they have built?
King Benjamin was born Ronny Jackson Jr. on the east side of Detroit Michigan. Growing up his love for writing was at first channeled into writing rap songs and short poems. After succumbing to teen peer pressure and the despair of poverty KB, as most call him, would find himself constantly in trouble with the law at a very young age. It wasn’t until his third incarceration that he decided to change his life for the better. Guided by a higher power he discovered his love for literature and also his calling. He would go on to pen four novels in eighteen months before his release. Upon release King Benjamin started his own publishing company and released his debut bestselling novel Cry Baby. To date King has several published bestselling novels and short stories and his following continues to grow rapidly.
After the way the first book ended, I just knew this one was going to have me swooning from the very first page. But honestly? This story hit on so much more than just romance—it was a real look at relationships, how communication and honesty are the foundation of success, and how not giving your partner the chance to speak their truth can break something beautiful.
Lyric and Apollo are still figuring things out, but instead of choosing openness, Apollo does what he always does—he decides for them both and goes his own way. Lyric is trying to be the woman she knows he needs, but she’s starting to feel like she’s losing herself in the process. She loves him, bad, but how can she continue to love a man who refuses to see that she doesn’t want to live in his shadow?
And then? Whew. This man takes their personal struggles and turns them into topics for his podcast. His podcast?! Lyric is done. Apollo manages to calm her down, but at this point, it feels like every time they take a step forward, something happens to trip them up again. The pressure between them has been building for months, and with every misstep, their future is looking more and more uncertain.
This novella was the perfect conclusion to Lyric and Apollo’s story—messy, real, and completely captivating. If you read the first book, you need this one in your life to get the full picture. King Benjamin did not disappoint!
The finale to Apollo and Lyric's journey was not without its fair share of controversy. But when two ppl are set in their beliefs and unwilling to consider any other way of doing things, drama will definitely ensue! Once again, I loved getting a male perspective on relationships, and at the end of the day both parties learned that things are never just black or white. A little bit of grey will always need to be taken into consideration. Add in trust and honesty... and things will work out as they should. Justice and Victoria's story should be just as interesting!
Reading this story made me question, do we ever leave our past relationships in the past or is there residuals we can’t help but to question, when certain circumstances arise, am I going through this again. Something to make you go hmmm. Coming into book 2, I gave Apollo more credit from book 1 thinking he’d learned his red pill ways and days would be behind him. I get it, old habits, especially for someone who’d been single and running through woman as they were revolving doors for such a long time, it may take longer than others. A soon as adversity arises, each time, yeah more than once, Apollo felt like if Lyric didn’t just accept what he said and move on, he’d spaz out. He became very rude and disrespectful towards her. Sometimes, sorry just isn’t all that’s needed. To recognize that the secrets and non communication helped to get them to the point where Lyric was done. Apollo’s past females kept getting him into positions, although he never cheated, had the intention or desire to cheat, being overly friendly with exes caused almost irreparable consequences. Lyric decided to remove herself from the equation because while one situation hit the airways, another right behind hits as well. Victoria suggested a getaway, a babymoon, so the two could be alone and air everything in an attempt to reconcile before baby Amadi Harris arrived. It worked and turned out to be the best thing for them. Now with a fresh understanding by both, communication and the joys of their new baby boy and a bright future together, they can release and relax in their new lives.
Apollo was a tough nut to crack. I found it incredulous how obtuse he was about his less than honest and forthcoming behavior and decisions agitated and unserved Lyric.
The third character in all of this was his pride mixed with a lot of arrogance, he had nerve quite like no other especially when he helped her pack.
It wasn’t easy to reconcile this devoted partner and soon to be father who declared his unconditional love to Lyric to the man that fussed, cussed, and pouted his way out of things.
Lyric was definitely more docile and demure than I would have been but at times she was irrational as well.
She showed her grown womanhood when she went to the house for Thanksgiving, she proved that she was the woman for him and equipped to deal with him and all that came along with him.
King B delivers another one! I thoroughly enjoyed this book. I was glued to it from start to finish and cannot wait for Just and Vic!
So poor Apollo has changed but hasn’t in the same manner and it take Lyric to show him his ways of being wrong. For someone who doesn’t want drama he brings it on him self more than not. I love that even though he is bull headed Lyric doesn’t just let him walk all over her. She yet again shows him he can’t be the man for her while allowing the world into their relationship and having his followers look at her side ways when he is not that way with her at home. So once again Lyric has to stand up for her self and stand on how she feels allowing Apollo to be a man that he claims he wants to be for her. Both have been single for so long but one wants to be committed while the other is holding on to their life before being committed while also not trying to be disrespectful. The shit comes off so disrespectful and hurtful until you have to stand in it alone and she how ass backwards you really are for your actions knowing it wouldn’t be the same if if was a different way. I feel for Lyric because I see this happening more and more for her of Apollos dad and brother along with other married men he looks up to tells him his wrong doing.
King Benjamin has a way of writing that pulls you in. To me, his writing is better than watching a movie. I started the book feeling some type of way about Apollo because he was an a** in Rapture 1. When i finished Rapture 2, I really loved him. He wasn’t a bad guy. He was just very comfortable at telling partial truths. lol This book made me think of my brothers, my cousins, my male friends and the things they went through when they decided to settle down.
I also noticed that KB mentioned another author, India Norfleet, a couple of times in his book so i personally had to check out her book(s) for that reason.
Whew! I thought part 1 was up & down but part 2 gave me a headache. Getting to the end was worth the headache tho! Apollo appeared more cocky & conceited this book. At times where he thought he was leading, he was being a straight a-hole. Lyric was an emotional wreck. I loved how she MADE her voice be heard/known but it got to a point where she got in her own way at times. This book basically (in my opinion) showed a glimpse of when the honeymoon phase is over early in the relationship & you have to have those tough talks & battles. Having Crystal around didn’t make it any easier as well! I’m wondering about Justin & Victoria?!??
Archaean-Caveman antics or “caught up in the rapture of love” ain’t enough to sustain & maintain a healthy progressive relationship. Contrary to social media, reality television or influencers, all relationships require work, compassion, compromise & forgiveness 🤷🏾♀️. Although “Rapture 2: The Finale” (4.50 ⭐️’s) was a good read. However, Lyric & Apollo’s characters were juvenile & annoying. Unfortunately, 🤨😮💨 both Lyric & Apollo still have a lot to learn about their relationships. Hopefully, they survive this next phase & make to their HEA🧐‼️
This was an amazing second book but now I want more! I have so many unanswered questions! Like what did the wedding look like? What is lyric gonna do now with her career, can she have it all?!
I appreciated that lyric stood up to Apollo and showed how they both flexed, even though Apollo would never admit it, to follow their hearts no matter how hard. Long as they continue to respect one another that’s all that matters! Great job!
I grew to LIKE the MMC instead of just tolerating him. The FMC was much more patient than I would've been, but I'm glad she was. I was nervous about the spicy scenes being written from the male perspective because most are usually missed, but these were on point! Although Apollo was a pain the a**, I liked him for Lyric and the way he loved her.
This is a great book. I love the way the author gave Lyric a voice. I was getting so mad at the way Apollo was handling her. I was hoping this would not be a book that young women would read and think it was normal.
The story showed a lot about the importance of communicating and respect.
Great read! I wanted to wring Apollo’s neck so many times but he finally won me over. The twist and turns in their relationship was something. Lyric had to overcome her trust issues and Apollo needed to understand that he wasn’t always right. I loved their love!
I love part 2’s when I least expect them. This was a good story. I was about to say I need a story on Justin and Vic. And a holiday update on these two. Maybe a wedding short.
As usual KB didn’t disappoint. I was so happy to see that Apollo & Lyric were able to navigate through their MANY relationship issues. I’m also curious of two things. One how they will navigate being first time parents and getting married. The second one is the spinoff.
Apollo was a special breed till Lyric came along. When he hid the lunch he was having with Crystal, I was thinking he was on one, but he wasn't. He really loved Lyric and had changed for her and the baby. Loved it!!!
I’m a huge fan of King Benjamin’s work which never disappoints. This one had my emotions all over the place and help me to realize that I too have insecurities that needs to be worked on. Great job. Thank you.
Another job well done! The perfect mix of sex, desire and the ups and downs of a real love! I absolutely love love love how this ended. An absolute must read!! Way to go King!
