Axen Farein has always been the trustworthy hand that someone reaches for, the volunteer when all seemed hopeless, and the one who was never afraid to stand strong in the gaze of pure evil. Purpose has clung to him since he first set foot in that tunnel eight years ago, but it was never attached to his eyes, nor to his name, but instead rests on his shoulders in a wave of woven emerald. A growing conflict lurks in the shadows of the allied kingdoms with a mysterious force at the helm. Not only is there danger around every corner, but the queen has been afflicted with an unpredictable sickness. In a search for quick answers, Axen finds that help awaits where his subtle treason first began. Guided by riddles from the dead, it’s up to Axen to save Fellowrock and Hightree from falling into ruin.
This is the perfect ending to the Through the Treeline Series. As always, Tuesday is amazing at world and character building. It is so easy to fall in love with these characters and root for them through all of their trials. There are so many tie ins to the previous books in the series and everything is interconnected fluidly. By the end of this book I was crying for an hour straight! I'm sad that there won't be any more books in this series but the epilogue gives the perfect closure.
