Pretty much everything.

Soon, she realizes that each silver charm predicts an event that actually happens. And when she runs into Aidan Flynn, her former high school boyfriend, her life takes an even bigger turn. This had everything I enjoy in a great Christmas story—wonderful setting and lavish Christmas descriptions. 🎄❄🎄❄A simple, heartwarming story with a second chance romance. Ashley lives in NYC and works at a jewelry store, selling charm bracelets. Her boyfriend of 3 years Jeremy works there as well. When Ashley’s hopes of a Christmas proposal do not turn out the way she’s expecting, she heads home to her small town in upstate New York… where her ex-boyfriend Aidan is now a firefighter. This was ADORABLE. Loved the sweetness of the charm bracelet and Fruitcake the sweet golden retriever with the red Christmas bow around his neck stole every scene he was in. I love Christmas stories that go all out on the Christmas and this one had it all—ugly Christmas sweaters—even one for the dog!!, tree lighting, cookie baking, and snowmen.⛄ A charming tale.
Christmas Charms by Teri Wilson Contemporary holiday romance by Harlequin Publishing. Second chance troupe. When Ashley’s long time boyfriend rolls his eyes on getting married, Ashley breaks up with him and goes home for the Christmas holiday. She is gifted with a magical charm bracelet that seems to match her experiences at home as she reconnects with prior hometown boyfriend and friends.
Sweet, poignant and magical. Ashley assesses her life, her goals and her perception of her home town. And Aidan is always there. The decorated home, the snowman and snowball fight, the dog, the ice skating, the good friend are all standard Hallmark trademarks. It doesn’t matter. The author does a marvelous job weaving the story with sentiment and that touch of fantasy that makes it a breathtaking romance.
This wonderful Christmas story is filled with love, holiday cheer, and magic. Our main character, Ashley, is returning to her hometown of Owl Lake, New York, to spend time with her family after her Christmas plans fell apart. On the train ride, she meets a lovely woman named Betty who is wearing a beautiful antique charm bracelet. She gives the charm bracelet to Ashley and tells her to wear it and have the Christmas of her dreams. Is Betty right, will this mysterious bracelet help Ashley have the Christmas of her dreams?
Christmas Charms by Teri Wilson is a delightful read, with wonderful characters, and a sense of family and community, and a gorgeous winter setting. The plot was engaging, well-paced, and kept me interested until the end. This book is so much more than a second chance romance - it's about finding yourself again and following your heart. I highly recommend it.
Thank you to NetGalley and Hallmark Publishing for the opportunity to read this ARC in exchange for an honest review.
You should have dumped your pizza on his head and smeared the tomato sauce in his hair… He deserves way more than public humiliation by way of cheese.
Let me tell you, drawing things with frosting is a lot harder than it looks. My poor gingerbread firemen look like they’re wrestling yellow snakes instead of wielding fire hoses. Happy holidayssssssssssss.
I should probably stop getting enchanted by the idea of a perfect holiday date and concentrate on living in the real world. The last time I thought I was going to have the ultimate Christmas date, I ended up breaking up with my boyfriend of three years. I’m still haunted by the thought of mozzarella cheese.
My Review:
This was a whimsical, light, and pleasantly amusing holiday second chance romance featuring a magical charm bracelet, small-town rituals, and a chance meeting with a lovely woman who just may have been Mrs. Claus. I enjoyed the sweet Hallmark Christmas flavor, wry humor, and lovable characters. The Santa Skate was brilliant, I don’t know if that is a real thing or not, but it certainly should be if it isn’t, even though I have never strapped on a pair of ice skates in my entire life.
Did I just read a Hallmark movie in book form?!?! Why yes I did and it was everything I could have hoped for!! I should note that I’m a sucker for anything Christmas, including movies and books! So when I saw this and noticed the publisher was Hallmark I had to give it a shot!!
Thank goodness I did because I loved every part of this book!! From the sweet protagonist, to the adorable dog with the big bow around his neck, not to mention a hunky firefighter... There’s also just a touch of magic floating in the story, which is just so fitting for the sweet Christmas theme.
The writing was smooth and there were times when I thought I had accurately predicted what was going to happen, but I was pleasantly surprised instead. I know it’s not December, but this was the perfect pick me up story to give me some holiday cheer.
If you adore Hallmark movies as much as I do, you’re going to love this book!!!
Thank you so much Hallmark Publishing and Netgalley for providing me with a copy of this book for my honest and unbiased opinion.
This is a well-written, entertaining, contemporary holiday romance novel. It is magical, with a likable female protagonist, an engaging male protagonist, an adorable dog, loving and supportive families and friends, a sweet, second chance romance, and a happily ever after ending. I listened to the audio version of this novel, and the narrator, Ms. Arielle DeLisle, has a lovely voice, and does an excellent job depicting the characters and their personalities.
This is a perfect Christmas novel with a touch of magical realism. Readers who are looking for a light holiday read should give it a chance, Our protagonist Ashley goes back home from New York to a small town to find herself. II love this beautiful cover. Predictable yet adorable story. Thanks to the publisher and NetGalley for the copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.
Christmas is all about glitz and glamour and expensive trips to Paris, France right? Convinced this will be the Christmas of her dreams with her long time boyfriend, what could possibly go wrong? Working in a prestigious jewelry store Ashley is convinced Jeremy her boyfriend is going to propose in Paris this holiday season, she has stars in her eyes just imagining it. The fast paced life she leads at the jewelry store leaving her with no time of her own is certainly worth it right? Literally bumping into her old boyfriend starts an unexpected chain of events and the ball just keeps rolling to include a break up,a train trip a very, very important charm bracelet,a happy go lucky dog,a handsome firefighter,a holiday parade and more. Delightful small town feel where everyone knows everyone else and everyone is your friend. This is a truly magical holiday book that is a warm hug and a hot cup of cocoa wrapped up within the pages. A true must read, it's delightfully magical!
Published October 6th 2020 by Hallmark Publishing I was given a complimentary copy of this book. Thank you All opinions expressed are my own.
Lots of holiday spirit in this book—magic, cute dog, cute ex-boyfriend...what’s not to like? So if you’ve overdosed on watching Hallmark movies, you can read a book published by Hallmark!
I do love my holiday reads to be sweet and "charming" and Christmas Charms definitely was all that and more. Published by Hallmark Publishing, you know exactly what you are getting when you read the first page and, for me, this time of year, that is not a bad thing. It was happy, put a smile on your face story with a happy ending. That's all I needed. It IS well written and that certainly helps with these stories.
Christmas Charms is an adorable Christmas story that is full of Christmas magic, romance and above all, finding yourself again. The main character, Ashley, ends up on a train to surprise her family for Christmas when she finds herself suddenly single and her original plans cancelled. While on the train, she is given a beautiful vintage charm bracelet that she quickly finds out is not what it seems. All of the charms are slowly coming true and her high school sweetheart, Aidan, is there to witness them all unravel. I am not going to lie, this is definitely a typical Hallmark story where you know how it is going to end, but can't help yourself from sticking around to witness it.
I do think, however, that the author did a really good job at showcasing Ashley's growth throughout all of the charm events in a way where she doesn't lose her passion for vintage jewelry or her career in order to find love. I also loved the inner monologue for Ashley. It felt natural and kept a smile on my face throughout the entire book, as I could see myself thinking the same things as her. One of my favorite parts about this book though, was the dog named Fruitcake. Like how cute of a name is that? It is freaking adorable!
Overall, I am a sucker for anything Christmas related and this is a perfect addition to anyone's Christmas collection. It is full of Christmas magic and romance, which to me equals a wonderful Christmas book! I hope Hallmark decides to make this into a movie one day!
Disclosure: I received a complimentary eARC at no cost from the author/publisher for review purposes. I'd like to thank NetGalley and the publisher for providing me this opportunity!
Thank you to Netgalley and Hallmark Publishing for the e-copy in exchange for review.
My heart is overflowing with Christmas cheer. When I saw mention of a small-town setting featuring a firefighting hero, I knew I needed to read this. In true Hallmark fashion, it was absolutely adorable.
With an unexpected detour in her plans of traveling to Paris with her boyfriend, Ashley is newly single and back in her hometown of Owl Lake with a charm bracelet that magically appears to be granting the Christmas of her dreams.
After continually crossing paths with an old high-school sweetheart, the one that got away, Ashley begins to wonder if her life in New York, working at a jewelry counter, is truly where her heart resides.
Filled with a toy parade, snowman building, Christmas cookies, and an adorable Golden Retriever, this one caused a permanent smile etched on my face.
There’s just something about holiday romances and their overly sweet happily-ever-afters! They make me so happy. And with this one having a magical realism aspect, it added such a fun twist. I’d love to see this one on the screen!
Thank you to Hallmark Publishing and the Author Teri Wilson for an ARC of this book in exchange for an honest review. What a wonderful and enchanting read. I love Hallmark Christmas stories and this one was magical! It had all the feel goods of the Christmas holiday season, Love, Romance and Family. I'd give it an extra star if I could for the Author naming the children Sophie and Olivia which is the same names of the children in one of my favorite Movies; "The Holiday" A quick and most enjoyable read.
Ashley loves working at the upscale jewelry store in Manhattan, and is hoping to get engaged in Paris over Christmas. When she finds out that her boyfriend doesn't want to get married in the near future, she realizes that she has been wasting her time and really is not in love with him. She decides to head home for Christmas, her first Christmas in Owl Lake for many years. On the train home, she meets Betty and admires her vintage charm bracelet. When she arrives in Owl Lake, she awakens and realizes that she has the bracelet and Betty is nowhere to be seen. She puts it on for safekeeping, and now can't get it off. As the story progresses, each of the charms on the bracelet represents a wish she has made throughout her life, and the wishes appear to be coming true.
This was a sweet Christmas story about wishes, dreams and following them. Ashley realizes how much she misses her small home town and all the people and customs there, especially her high school sweetheart Aiden. Teri Wilson has written a delightful read, with wonderful characters, and a sense of family and community. The setting of a winter wonderland in this small town added so much to the magic of the story. The plot was well-paced, and kept me interested until the end. The characters were also likable and people that I would love to know. This book is a second chance romance, but also a story about discovering what is really important to you in life and following your heart to fulfill your dreams. A story I definitely recommend. I was gifted a copy of this book upon request. The rating and opinions shared are my own.
This was a beautiful and heart warming second chance lovers romance story! My heart is bursting out of my chest and beating to the tune of a popular Christmas song! I think out of all my Christmas reads this year, this one takes the cake. The excitement, charm, and cheer this story instills in you is beyond what I expected, and yes it is so magical! Not to mention, we have a firefighter main character who lives in a small NYC town!
The only thing I regret about this book is that I didn’t pick it up last year when I was given the ARC to do so!
Another winning book from Ms. Wilson. She does a fine job of lacing humor and the spirit of Christmas into a story meant for the season of believing. Ashley was a character with a bubble personality and a heart of determination, I only wish we knew more about Aiden (it was written only in Ashley's POV). Looking forward to the next book by Ms. Wilson soon!
With a jingle, a jangle, a silvery tinkle, and a sprinkle of holiday magic, author Teri Wilson offers readers a yuletide treat in "Christmas Charms", a heartwarming contemporary romance. Ashley James is living the dream life in Manhattan--a far cry from her small hometown of Owl Lake in upstate New York. Working at elite Windsor Jewelers, sharing an apartment with her friend and coworker, Maya, and dating handsome Jeremy--who also works at Windsor's--what more could a girl want? A few things about her relationship with Jeremy niggle at Ashley, but with their upcoming holiday trip to Paris to see his family, and the expectation of a proposal, Ashley puts her doubts aside. However, when things go wrong, and there is no engagement, and no trip to Paris, Ashley heads back home for the first time in a long, long time. On the train ride to Owl Lake, Ashley meets Betty, a kindly older lady with busy knitting needles and a fascinating charm bracelet. Ashley dozes off, and when she awakes at the train station, Betty is gone, but she has gifted Ashley with a hand-knit Christmas stocking containing the charm bracelet. Ashley's parents are happily surprised to see her, but mysterious things begin to happen connected to each of the charms on the bracelet--including a lovable dog who "adopts" Ashley. Then there's Aidan Flynn--handsome firefighter and Ashley's former sweetheart. Ashley had broken Aidan's heart when she turned down his early marriage proposal and moved to the "big city". It's now ten years later, and the feelings between them are still there, but have too many changes occurred, and has too much time gone by for them to find a happy second chance together? If you love captivating contemporary holiday romance that tugs at your heart and makes you believe in the magic of the season, then you will greatly enjoy "Christmas Charms" from talented storyteller Teri Wilson.
This story has the perfect title because it’s utterly charming from the very first page. I love the sprinkle of Christmas magic that happens when Ashley, fresh from a broken engagement and heading home to Owl Lake for Christmas, meets Betty, a mysterious stranger who reminds her of Mrs Claus. Waking to discover Betty’s beautiful charm bracelet, a note urging her to wear it and have the Christmas of her dreams and no sign of Betty, Ashley begins rediscovering her love for Owl Lake and Aidan Flynn, her teenage boyfriend. This story is beautifully written. At times it is whimsical, at other times sad, but overall the feel is upbeat, warm and inclusive. I loved the small town Christmas traditions such as lighting the town Christmas tree and baking cookies for the firehouse. I couldn’t help but adore Fruitcake (gorgeous name for a dog), the golden retriever cross that Ashley discovers waiting patiently for her on the stoop of her parents’ house. Most of all though I loved the way that each charm delivered a small miracle in Ashley’s life. This has been one of the most delightful Christmas stories I have read in a very long time.
i can’t even explain how much i love cute little christmas stories. this was just as adorable and fun as the princess one, with a little bit of magical elements sprinkled into it. ashley’s parents and aidan were def my favorite characters and the meaning behind this story was awesome. it reminds everyone to live in the moment and enjoy the little things that make life magical. highly recommend this one!! ☃️🤶
This takes place at Christmas in upstate New York. It is a second-chance romance and magical realism story. The magic was okay. I wasn't expecting it. I felt it got in the way sometimes. The romance was also okay. I didn't like the main character for most of the story, which was the problem with the romance. There is, of course, a happy ending.
Christmas Charms is more than just a perfect Christmas romance—it is the perfect romance period! Brimming with deep feelings, warmth, and sincerity, it features characters who are complex and endearing. And, there’s a bit of magic, which is always fun! Just like the charms that adorn Ashley’s bracelet, it is sparkling and bright! My heart was completely enthralled by the charm (pun intended!) of this delightful second chance romance!
Firstly thank you to Hallmark Publishing for this Advanced Readers Copy *smile* . This book is set around Christmas Time and focuses on Ashley who thinks she has the perfect shot at happy ever after with her boyfriend of 3 years Jeremy which doesn’t happen because he doesn’t believe in marriage *gasp*. So she skips town where she gets into a minor mishap and gets saved by her ex boyfriend *gasp* Did I mention that there is a cool dog in it too?
This was it full of holiday cheer and gave me all the warm fuzzies. It’s exactly like a Hallmark movie in book form and it had a touch of magical realism, which in a holiday book just always works well for me! Adored it so much, can Teri Wilson do any wrong?!
Christmas Charms by Teri Wilson is a thoroughly enjoyable Christmas novel that perfectly captures the magic of the season.
Having left her small town of Owl Lake and her high school sweetheart behind her years ago to make a brand new life for herself in New York City, Ashley is living the dream. Or at least she thinks she is until a dinner with her boyfriend of three years goes horribly wrong. Instead of the proposal she's expecting, Ashley is hit with the hard truth that her boyfriend never wants to get married. With marriage off the table, Ashley breaks up with her boyfriend and trades her fancy trip to Paris in to spend the holidays with her parents in the town she left behind all those years ago.
On the train ride home, Ashley meets a lovely older woman named Betty who gifts her Christmas bracelet to Ashley in the hopes that Ashley will have the Christmas of her dreams. But strange things start happening to Ashley after she puts on the bracelet. First she discovers her parent's lakehouse is decorating exactly like a charm on the bracelet. Next she discovers an adorably devoted dog who looks exactly like another charm on the bracelet waiting for her on the doorstep. As Ashley begins to dip her toes into small town life again, she finds herself faced with a whirlwind of emotions every time she runs into her high school sweethearts. If Ashley opens herself up to the magic of Christmas, she just might get the HEA she longed for and discover what it's truly like to live the dream.
I didn't want to put Christmas Charms down! Teri Wilson's writing completely draws the reader in and makes them feel as if they're wrapped in a cozy blanket while enjoying hot cocoa by the Christmas tree. The first person narrative is so fitting for Ashley's personal journey and I loved watching her grow throughout the novel.
I'm already looking forward to Teri Wilson's next Hallmark novel.
Many thanks to NetGalley, Hallmark Publishing and Teri Wilson for the chance to read this digital ARC.
Christmas Charms isn't just a warm and cozy Christmas story. It's a story of coming home to find yourself, a second chance at love and the magic of Christmas.
Ashley is in Manhattan living her dreams! She's living and working with her best friend at one of the most popular jewelry stores doing what she loves-working in the charms department assisting costumers in picking out the most perfect charms. She is about to spend Christmas in Paris with Jeremy, her long term boyfriend, and his family. How much more perfect can it get? When Ashley hears through the grapevine that Jeremy has bought a ring she knows this will be the best Christmas yet.
SPOILER ALERT: The ring is not for Ashley.
Ashley decides to return home to Owl Lake for Christmas for the first time in along time. She hopes that a Christmas back in her hometown with her family will be exactly what she needs. Hopefully she won't run unto Aiden.
Did I mention Aiden? No? Well, Aiden is Ashley's high school sweetheart and now hunky Owl Lake Fireman. He might be part of the reason she hasn't returned. Things ended abruptly between them and things were left unresolved.
On the train ride home Ashley meets a Mrs. Claus-like woman named Betty who wears a unique vintage Christmas charm bracelet. Ashley wakes up at her stop and finds the bracelet left for her with a note telling her to wear it and have the best Christmas yet.
What I loved most about this story is the little touch of magic! A magical charm bracelet was such a wonderful addition to the second chance romance story line and Ashley finding herself and reconnecting with her family and friends.
If you are looking for a little something extra added to a Christmas romance, I recommend you giving Christmas Charms a try!

My dearest Hallmark, always knowing how to put me into the perfect mood no matter the time of year. This book was so perfect that I didn’t want it to end but knew the entire time that I would love the ending because I always do.
Ashley lives in Manhattan and has been recently planning for her perfect Christmas - a trip to Paris with her boyfriend Jeremy full of romance and love. But Christmas magic has a different plan - spending Christmas back in Owl Lake, her perfect little home town in upstate New York.
On the train ride there she meets a wonderful woman named Betty who gifts her the most beautiful antique charm bracelet while she’s sleeping on the train. But when she wakes up and tries to find Betty to return the beautiful gift, she’s nowhere to be found.
Her next few days in Owl Lake become surreal as she finds she can’t get the bracelet off of her wrist, and all at the same time each charm on the bracelet seems to oddly coincide with things happening in her real life - as if predicting the events of her Christmas. Many of them having to do with her former high school boyfriend Aidan.
Ashley has to fight herself to determine whether to let fate and Christmas magic take charge of this Christmas or to keep trying to find a way to get back to Manhattan to score a new promotion. She realizes that Christmas magic usually teaches someone something about themselves and maybe that’s what she is supposed to be learning… so how will it all play out for her?
I give this book EASILY 5 out of 5 stars!! It was SO GOOD! I read it in just a few quick days and loved every minute of it and was sad when I would have to put it down to sleep. Such a perfect cozy happy story to read at a time like this. The perfect escape!
Have you read it yet? It just came out this past Tuesday - October 6th, and I HIGHLY recommend going out and snatching yourself a copy :)
*I got this book from Hallmark Publishing and from NetGalley to read and provide my honest review*
