I loved this manhwa sm I can’t express in mere words. Ines is one of the most realistic characters I’ve read like the way she feels and everything is so beautiful and carcel omg I was hesitant about him at first but now he’s one of my top manhwa boyfriend.. he’s such a smitten guy it’s funny to read haha. I love how he loves ines sm and both of their character development is one of the best.
this manhwa truly serves one of the best black cat fmc and golden retriever mc I’ve ever read. need more of it asap😭

4.5 stars for the manhwa rn. The plot has been getting progressively juicier. I love the mc's and their romance. The art is gorgeous. Just an all-around good read that is genuinely intriguing and features mc's that are complicated and multi-faceted. Can't wait to reread this once it's complete!

My review is on the series, not just this volume. This story is a richly layered historical romance that subverts the typical arranged marriage trope with a clever twist of emotional depth, political intrigue, and slow-burning transformation.

Set in the opulent empire of Ortega, the story follows Inés Valeztena and Cárcel Escalante—betrothed since childhood but emotionally worlds apart. Inés, a sharp and calculating noblewoman, has no intention of staying married. She views the union as a strategic inconvenience, one she plans to dissolve as soon as possible. Cárcel, on the other hand, is a notorious playboy who initially seems indifferent to the match—until he realizes Inés’s indifference might be more than he bargained for.

What makes this story stand out is its reversal of expectations. Inés is not the heartbroken fiancée hoping for love; she’s the one pulling the strings. I love how sweet they are together. The story is heart wrenching because of all the memories, the traumas, the secrets and misunderstanding and how we see patterns that hold still like Oscar obsession and hatred. The Escalante household is building a fort, ready to tackle this new life and finally find happiness.
Oh, and I love how Ines put on some weight since the beginning of the story and especially compared to her old lives. It shows how healthy she is and how comfortable she is getting. This level of detail is everything!

Manwha chapter 57-70, read in English online
We get a little bit slower arc here, they are getting to know each other on a new level, deep thinking about actions and feelings here. Inés Character is wayyyy deeper than I would have ever expected and I love how she is developing.
Also Carcel seems to have some secrets and I’m hyped to see what he has to give to us. 🥰 love how he is jumping from serious 🔥 to puppy mode in mere seconds. 🤭

omg, they’re so freaking cute!!! ines is finally coming to terms that she has feelings for her husband AND MORE NEEDS TO DEVELOP BETWEEN THEM OKAY. toying with my feelings isn’t good. the art is still so good.

p.s. i don’t know whether volume 5 consists of chapter 56 to 69, but i’ll just assume since almost every volume is about 13 chapters.

Really heavy story but it's one that will keep you reading! It really has me hooked to the point that I've caught up and all but still, days after I read the last chapter, it's all I think about still.

My mind is swimming with curiosity about what is going to happen next. Pleaseee,,, i wanna read more!!
