Karen Sandler grew up in L.A. County’s South Bay, fishing for bonito off the Redondo Beach pier, crunching on sand in her tuna sandwiches, and roasting in the sun until she was lobster-red.

By age 9, she knew she wanted to be a writer without having the slightest notion what that involved. She was practical enough to earn a BA in math & physics and an MS in computer science (hence her love of science fiction), but her software engineering career took a sharp U-turn when she quit to write full-time.

She's the author of numerous novels, screenwriter of a few short films, and now knows exactly what a writer does—tell stories that linger in the hearts of her audience.

romance-covers-i-have-loved

this is a book i actually bought when i saw it at work because i was going through a phase of finding funny book covers and framing them for people as gifts. but then i found i couldn't part with this one. and no one has rated it on goodreads.com, so i have no one to approach with my burning questions. i suppose i could read it, but that seems too easy and too hard at the same time. (twss) but maybe someone else has ideas -what is this book about?? is the miracle that this couple was able to convince this eight-year-old girl to participate in a threesome with them?? or is the child the product of a threesome with some unpictured third partner?? are all romance novels these days so complicated? every month when the series romance titles come in there is at least one i need to think about, very deeply. now i am just making it public. come think with me.

The female character, Sara, runs a riding school for troubled children. Sara grew up with her sister in an abusive home and later also got involved in an abusive love affair. She is very wary of men and struggles with her attraction to the man who has come to do some repairs on the ranch. The male character, Keith, is just as wary of relationships after loosing his son then discovering his wife was having an affair after she was killed in a car crash.

So, what I thought would leave me feeling all warm and fuzzy actually led me on a roller coaster of different emotions. This book, deals with some hard to deal with areas, the grief Keith suffers from loosing his son is very intense, and Sara's vulnerability is also sad. The book was quite slow in pace, it certainly took a while for the characters to 'get together' but this only helped to intensify the wrought emotions both the characters were going through.

I enjoyed this book very much, but at times I found it quite difficult to read as the issues dealt with were very hard at times.

Isn't it amazing that books can do that!
