When thirty-four-year-old Nellie Wagstaff loses her job and discovers her fiancé is a cheating scumbag in a single day, she feels like the world has come crashing down. And that’s before the solicitor’s letter, along with a request to visit a place she hasn’t thought about for a very long time.
Heartbroken, Nellie escapes to the beautiful seaside town of Muddleford in Dorset, where she discovers she’s inherited more than she ever bargained for. Nellie never knew why her mother stopped talking to her sister, but now childhood memories of Muddleford come flooding back: long hot summers, the sea glistening beyond the sandy cove... and a stolen kiss with a boy called Jack.
Jack, now a devilishly handsome vet, has the local pet owners swooning over him, and as Nellie and he become close once more, and she gets used to gossiping with the locals and sipping wine at her beach hut with sand between her toes, she’s sure she can feel sparks flying once more. But just as she thinks she might be able to open her heart again, her newest frenemy, the glamourous Natalia, tells her a secret about Jack that changes everything.
Nellie will never know why her mother and aunt parted ways. She’ll sell the house, forget about Jack, and get back to real life. Because there’s nothing for her in Muddleford... is there?

Moonlight Over Muddleford Cove is a Heart Warming, Cosy, Feel-good, Laugh out Loud, Enchanting Rom Com and I loved it! A perfect read for a lil bit of escapism! Oh and I have to take a moment to mention just how Gorgeous and Captivating the Book Cover is!
Nellie is having a really rubbish time of it, her fiancé Callum unexpectedly packs his bags, and tells her he's leaving her, for someone else, Her job is far from perfect, when they call everyone in, and tell them they need to look for a new job, as the company is going into liquidation, and quiet frankly she's fed up!
But then she gets a mysterious letter from Cash and Sons Solicitors asking her to call them. So when Nellie gets in contact, they are about to, not only shock her with sad news, but potentially change her life forever.
All she has to do is visit her Aunt Lil's in Muddleford to sign the paperwork and claim her inheritance! With a little persuasion from best friend Shivani she sets off to her Aunt Lil's to find out what's in store for her. I mean what has she got to lose!
I absolutely loved this book, from the moment I started reading it, I knew I was going to love Nellie and I wasn't wrong, I adored her! What touched my heart was the letter from Aunt Lil and then Nellie going back to Lil's home where she spent many a happy childhood, and relieving all those memories alongside her. Kim Nash is a superb author and has a way of making you feel very much apart of the story, feeling all the emotions and atmosphere, makes the book that extra special.
Moonlight Over Muddleford Cove is a story of new beginnings, loss, inheritance, life changing decisions, old acquaintances, friendship and romance. The characters are endearing, likeable and very well written. This book has a good dose of Feel-good Humour and Romance and will definitely leave you with an Uplifting Smile! I really hope this isn't the last visit to Muddleford Cove!

This book was just SO much fun! Nellie is having a run of bad luck. Not only has her fiancé left her, but she’s also lost her job. BUT then she receives a mysterious letter from a solicitor about an inheritance from her estranged aunt Lily. With no reason not to she packs up her bags and heads to Muddleford Cove. When she reaches the lovely seaside town she finds that her life has taken a turn in a very positive direction. She now has loads of options including staying in Muddleford Cove where she has just reunited with her childhood crush Jack. BUT then enters Natalia Jack’s “fiancé“?
I so fell in love with this charming town. Everything was perfect from the gorgeous beach houses to the colorful stones with writing on them. Nellie was a great character who I’d love to be friends with! I loved her sense of humor and her big heart. Jack was almost too good to be true, but then there was Natalia? I would be remiss if I did not mention norm! I was so happy that Nelly learned to love the love of Lilly’s life as much as Lily had. This is the perfect book to escape into in a sunny afternoon!

*** Big thank you to the author for my gifted copy of this book. All opinions are my own. ***
Meet Nellie, Nellie Wagstaff, getting married, a decent job and doing ‘ok’, she’s fine and dandy Until within one week everything changes, all that could go wrong does and more and her life has gone from uneventful to disastrous She really needs something good to happen.......and then, the most unexpected thing of all occurs and she is on her way to Dorset, for more than a few life changing events I loved Nellie, her personality and the way she coped with pretty seismic changes happening one after the other, I also liked her humour and her way of saying what she was thinking I loved the book being set in Dorset, spent 7 years as a teenager on the Somerset/Dorset borders and could picture every scene in it’s beauty The story is great, big characters, big decisions and a big lot of love It is a book for now, we all need an escape at the moment and this book provided it, made me happy and smile, loved it
Nellie Wagstaff has been dealt with some serious blows at the same time, including a breakup with her fiancé while dealing with stressful wedding plans. Then she loses her job. Not sure what she will do with her life imagine her surprise when she discovers that her aunt has died and that she has been left a sizable inheritance. Finding out the extent of what her aunt left her has left her all but speechless, but Nellie is plagued with sadness due to the fact that she was estranged from her aunt.
When Nellie discovers that the local vet in the town where her aunt lived is none other than her crush when she was a girl, her heart skips a beat. Nellie's mother and aunt had a falling out when she was fourteen so she hasn't seen Jack in years. There is something about Jack that Nellie can't shake. Sparks fly right from the start. Things are definitely looking up for Nellie.
Not only did Nellie inherit her aunt's house and a considerable sum, she inherits something else that is truly special. However, there are definitely some bumps in the road and Nellie finds herself forced to make some difficult and heartbreaking decisions.
What a wonderful book by Kim Nash! I loved Nellie and Jack. I also really loved the gorgeous town of Muddleford Cove. Between a combination of wonderful writing, endearing characters, the requisite unlikable character, a beautiful setting and a warm, satisfying ending, Moonlight Over Muddleford Cove proved to be a delightful read.
I was so excited to hear that this author had a new book release as I’ve read all of her other books and loved them! Moonlight over Muddleford Cove looked and sounded so inviting that I just couldn’t wait to delve in between the pages! We are introduced to Nellie Wagstaff who’s not having a very good time at the moment, losing both her job and fiancé in one day. Is her luck about to change though when she gets a mysterious solicitor’s letter?
This was such a delightful story which I absolutely loved! It was so easy to read and immediately I connected with the characters as if they were old friends. Nellie is lovely, and you can’t help but empathise with her and the situation she finds herself. The mysterious solicitor’s letter reveals an unexpected inheritance and when Nellie heads to the South Coast to deal with this we are treated to some beautifully descriptive writing of the area, so much so that I could picture myself sat facing the sea in front of a beach hut, and probably falling asleep just like Nellie does! Of course, we have to have a love interest on the scene, and this comes in the form of old childhood friend, Jack who still lives in the area. Jack is gorgeous, inside and out, and every time he winked at Nellie, I felt my heart flip alongside hers! There were so many sparks flying between them, that it was positively dangerous!
Nellie has some big decisions to make with regards to what to do with her inheritance – sell up, take the money and return home or stay in Muddleford Cove. I had my fingers crossed all the way through the book that Nellie would make the right decision, but there were times when I honestly didn’t know what she was going to do! I was caught up in Nellie’s story right from the very beginning and found myself riding the rollercoaster of emotions alongside her. I have to admit to being in tears at parts of the book, but then equally, laughing out loud at others! The array of wonderful and likeable characters (yes, even Natalia!) was amazing, and each and every one of them added their own sparkle to an already glittering book!! Norman was certainly my favourite though, and I did chuckle when I fell into the trap of who he was!
This was definitely my favourite book by this author yet!! I related to every single part of the storyline and connected with every character – I felt like I’d known them forever. There is nothing to dislike about this book and if I had a checklist of everything a fabulous feel-good read should have, this book would tick all the boxes! The author has a flair for writing in a way that it feels like you’re having a good old chin-wag with one of your best friends over a large glass of something alcoholic!! It was absolutely wonderful, pulling at my heart-strings, making me laugh, having me dreaming about hunky vets and tempting me with the sea and sand! Block out a whole day in your diary, because I guarantee once you start this book you won’t be able to put it down until you’ve finished it! Fab, fab, fab!!
I have literally just finished reading this after spending the evening superglued to my sofa because I couldn't tear myself away from this book! Wow just wow what a bloody brilliant story.
The story starts off where we meet Nellie who I have to say I adored. Her world seems to be falling apart when she finds out her fiance has cheated on her then she loses her job. Then things take a turn and finds herself on a trip to Muddleford in Dorset after the passing of her Aunt. Nellie is blown away by her inheritance. And has some decisions to make when Jack, her childhood crush comes back into her life. Will Nellie stay or will she go back to the Midlands is the question.
Kim is a natural at making you connect with the characters because they are so realistic. I love the good ones and hate the bad ones. I wasn't a fan of Natalie and could see right through her but then….read it yourself and find out! Oh and not forgetting Norman. You cannot help but love him.
There are plenty of surprises along the way and an OMG moment that kept me on the edge of my seat. This story has certainly taken me on a roller coaster of emotions. This story will make you smile, laugh and pull at your heart strings and take you out of this horrible world we are living in at the moment.
I love Kim’s style of writing, the words she uses and descriptions….just brilliant! Moonlight Over Muddleford Cove is an easy 5 stars.
Oh my goodness, Moonlight over Muddleford Cove is Kim Nash’ fourth book and equally as dreamlike as each of the others. I was instantly transported into the pages of the book, totally invested in the plot and characters and felt like I was settling down for a catch up with my friends.
Kim writes feel-good, uplifting stories written from the heart that centre around family and friendship and reading one of her books is like taking the best tonic a doctor could ever prescribe. The characters in a Kim Nash novel are diverse and all play an integral part to the plot, she digs below the surface, exposing real people who live their life the way they do because of past events - they're not overly simplistic or too complex and Kim covers emotional, roller coaster moments with tenderness and insight whilst moving the book along at such a pace that the positive moments are the main focus.
Moonlight over Muddleford Cove centres around Nellie, a girl who had it all - that is until her life is turned on its head when she loses both the love of her life, her job and is summoned back to Dorset for a will reading on the death of her Auntie Lil - all in the space of one short week. Nellie plans a quick trip but isn’t prepared for what greets her in Dorset.
You can’t help but feel for Nellie, she’s fragile and returning to Dorset means facing her past, what she doesn’t expect is quite what an emotional trip it turns out to be and finding herself the beneficiary of her Aunts estate means there’s decisions to be made. Dorset holds memories both good and bad and she’s not sure it’s a place she wants to be until childhood pal and ex boyfriend Jack enters stage left! Drool, drool!! There’s also Norman, adored by her Aunt but someone Nellie didn’t even know about, she’s not sure how she feels about that but upon meeting him becomes equally as attached and takes him straight to her heart, just as her aunt did. In fact it’s Norman that is the catalyst for a lot of decisions Nellie makes about her future.
I loved how her friendship with Jack reverted back to their youth, their easy camaraderie and ease with each other but, there’s one problem they are both different people now and Jack is not a free agent, something he doesn’t seem to be all that clear about, this is something that causes turmoil for Nellie. She has settled into the community, loves the beach which gives her space to walk and think but not everyone is making her feel welcome! Should she pack up and return to the Midlands, the emotional juggling bounced off the pages.
The turmoil and emotions were realistic to read, Kim took us on a rollercoaster of a ride as we lived the highs and lows of Nellies life. The hurt and anguish tempered with fun, laughter and humour. The highs and lows of the life changing decisions she had to make. Love and friendship outshining the greyer moments.
It was a book I didn’t want to end and another book that had me reaching for the brochures. Oh, to rent a cottage on the beach, to sit and drink fizz watching the sunset from a beach hut - to be part of a community that once they’ve took you under their wings always had your back would be just amazing. Kim you are both a travel agent and an estate agents dream - your descriptions sell locations, the pictures in my mind clearer than any image in a brochure I’ve ever flicked through.
I have no hesitation recommending Moonlight over Muddleford Cove or any of Kim’s previous three novels for that matter. Within pages of opening any of Kim’s books I guarantee you will be totally invested into the lives of all the characters, you’ll feel the tension of your everyday life unfurl as you virtually join the characters on their journey and settle into the easy comradeship of long established friendships, sharing secrets, giving and taking advice and will forget that these are not your real friends but characters in a book. Kim not only creates strong, lead characters but also necessary, believable, supporting characters that add depth to every story.
She really knows how to give you a little bit of everything, her books will make you smile, at times laugh out loud, there are tender moments and some hard hitting scenarios too. But one thing that is common with each is that feeling of sadness as you reach the last few pages, not wanting the story to end, the wanting to go straight back to the beginning after you’ve turned the final page so you can re-live it all again. Oh and I forgot to mention, there’s usually a hunk or two to drool over too!
I thoroughly enjoyed heading off to Muddleford Cove and am hoping that this won’t be my first visit. Kim Nash has created a wonderful, warm and witty environment that totally transported me to Dorset and left me entertained, happy and uplifted. I thought the narrative was just lovely.
Although there is a smashing, romantic story in Moonlight Over Muddleford Cove, with several laugh aloud moments, plenty of twists and turns, and that wonderful knowledge of this genre that everything will turn out well eventually, what I most enjoyed about Kim Nash’s writing this time was the level of wisdom behind her story. Whilst entertaining her reader the author manages to show them how we shouldn’t leave it too late to mend bridges and tell those we love how we feel. Through Nellie’s story we come to realise that life is what we make it and that we should be true to ourselves and make the most of the opportunities that come our way. I thought this aspect of Moonlight Over Muddleford Cove was just wonderful.
Equally as inspiring was the characterisation here. Aunt Lil may not actually be present in the story, but she shapes it so convincingly that I felt she was someone I’d known all my life. Ellen, or rather Nellie, is a delight. Her delusions, her self-knowledge, her friendships and her love are all realistic so that she feels like a real woman and not merely a character. Natalia exemplifies the falseness and obsession with appearance that sadly pervades society and I could picture her through Kim Nash’s writing as easily as if I were sitting opposite her. However, although I loved meeting Nellie, it was Jack who held my attention most but you’ll have to read Moonlight Over Muddleford Cove to find out why – though you should be prepared to fall in love a little bit yourself too!
When I’d finished reading Moonlight Over Muddleford Cove I felt I had had a lovely break from the corrupt, Covid dominated world we’ve been living through, and that I had been able to take a stroll along the Dorset beach with Nellie and Norman, very much enjoying their company.
Moonlight Over Muddleford Cove is such a lovely read. It’s warm, funny and romantic so that it really is a tonic for the woes of the world. I finished the book feeling soothed and uplifted. It’s a lovely story.
Just sometimes, you pick up a book and you just know from the opening pages that you’re going to love every moment – you feel for the main character, the writing draws you in, and you settle in for a reading session knowing you’re in a safe pair of hands.
Goodness, Nell’s having a rough time at the start of this one – I really felt for her as scumbag Callum walked away and blew apart their wedding plans, and with the most dreadful timing when she also finds out that she no longer has a job either. There’s no family support – there’s a poignant story there – but she has a really good mate in Shivani, one of those friends we all need when life takes one of those dips we can’t handle on our own. But a solicitor’s letter opens up a whole new set of possibilities – an inheritance from her aunt in Muddleford in Dorset that turns out to be everything she owned, the house where she spent such happy times as a child, a car (and what a car!), an eye-watering amount of money, a beach hut – and, although it triggers all sorts of memories and regrets that she’d lost contact with her aunt through a set of circumstances she never really understood, life suddenly doesn’t look too bad after all.
She remembers her childhood friend Jack, her first love – and is delighted to find he’s still living next door, all nicely grown up, a rather dishy vet, who seems really happy to pick up their friendship where it left off. And then there’s the mysterious Norman – who she finds was particularly special in her aunt’s life, and who becomes a pretty important part of hers too. But they’re not children any more, and Nell’s arrival ruffles a few feathers – and she has some difficult decisions to make, whether to embrace her new life and a fresh start surrounded by her childhood memories, or whether to wave it a sad goodbye and face up to life’s realities back at home in the Midlands.
I really did love everything about this book. Nell’s voice – the story’s told in the first person, and you share every moment of her thoughts and feelings – is quite wonderful, and I adored her from the very beginning, wanting to give her a hug and tell her that everything would work out ok. The supporting cast is superb – I immediately fell for Jack (who wouldn’t – and Norman!), felt very uncomfortable about Natalia, and all the other other well drawn characters play their part in the lovely story. It all has a perfect emotional touch too – I was quite tearful at the memories, and the way any possibility of romance ebbed and flowed and the obstacles to happiness looked insurmountable, but there was plenty to make me smile and laugh too. The setting is wonderful, created with love – far more than just a backdrop, and I’d have so loved to join Nell on one of those deckchairs outside the beach hut, and to breath that sea air (in fact, I really felt I was there…).
The story has some unpredictable twists and turns, some really heartwarming and others that made me feel there might just not be the happy ending I so wanted – and there’s one moment of real drama that had my heart in my mouth, everything on edge, just hoping things would work out. And the whole present day story is nicely underpinned by the secrets of the past, revealed with such poignancy, the reasons why Nell was torn away from the relationship and home where she’d experienced such love and happiness.
Kim Nash is a wonderful writer – this book had everything I look for in a light and summery read, but plenty of emotional depth to satisfy too. It’s just a gorgeous read, totally uplifting and enjoyable from first page to last, and one I’d thoroughly recommend to anyone who enjoys the same books as I do. And even better, I’m delighted to see that this might not be our only visit to Muddleford – I can’t wait!
This is one of those very rare breed of books that I found I was so absorbed by, that the pages were turning so fast, and for how little time I'd spent reading it the percentage meter seemed to be jumping up if I looked down at it, that I had actually feared that I didn't have the whole book.
But of course I did and it was just that it was such a pleasurable read that I was able to get lost within the pages and I sat and read it in one sitting. I had intended to read just the first couple of chapters and then do some more work but then I thought one more chapter and when I had read about half of it after only an hour I knew I was just sitting there and reading, ignoring the rest of the world.
And without a doubt the character that stole my heart the most was Norman, what a little cutie he is, and yet when Nellie is first introduced to him, he was nothing at all like she imagined!
The book kicks off, and what engaged me instantly was Nellie clearly having a nightmare of a day, which was comical in its own way, even when it got worse. And then the following day learning that she has lost her job too, in addition to the fiancée from the previous evening,
So when she finally gets in touch with the mystery lawyers firm that had been in contact and asked to travel to Muddleford to discuss her inheritance from Auntie Lil (who she hadn't seen in 20 years), she has no idea what to expect.
And what an eye opening inheritance it is and is able to change the course of Nellie's life forever should she be open to the idea. And she gets in touch with her childhood best friend and long time crush, and Jack hasn't changed a bit. Although Natalia has other ideas, and I really didn't warm to her initially at all and could see through some of what she was saying.
This is such a warm hearted story, full of love oozing from its pages, from learning about Auntie Lil, to seeing just how Nellie was able to grow over a relatively short space of time. This was just the sort of book I needed as I read it without even realising it. I loved the setting of Muddleford Cove, and hope we will be able to return to it.
I just felt like I'd had a hug from this book, and it was just a really wonderful story.
Thank you to the author for this copy which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.
At the age of thirty four, Nellie Wagstaff wouldn’t have expected that her life would all fall into pieces in just one day. Not only does she loses her job, but she discovers that her fiancé is not only leaving her, but has also been cheating on her. So when a solicitor contacts her because she has inherited from her Aunt Lilian, she sees this as the perfect escape from her heartbreak. Little did she expect that she would inherit so much because after all, it has been years since her last visit to Muddleford in Dorset. And spending time back there, her childhood memories come flooding back and also her best friend back then Jack is still around.
But what will Nellie do with all the inheritance? Sell it all and go back to her real life? And why are sparks flying around whenever handsome Jack is around, as he is totally unavailable? And will she ever discover why her mother and her Aunty Lil parted ways? And who is this mysterious Norman, who seems to be the love of her Aunt’s life?
This author was a discovery for me, never having read something from her before. But I have noticed how everyone is enjoying reading her books, so I gave it a shot. And now I am sorry I ever started reading her books, because I feel a new addiction to an author in the making! When I reached the end of this book and I was counting how long it took me to finish it, I didn’t know what feeling should take over. Should I be feeling ashamed? Or proud? Because it took me just one… single… day… to DEVOUR it.
From the first page, I found myself standing beside Nellie, feeling with her. My heart got broken, I felt her loneliness, her moments of happiness and her felling of just belonging in Muddleford.
Nellie is a woman I could honestly easily befriend in real life. She did not have an easy childhood, as her mother was facing her own demons. And now she finds herself again alone after being betrayed by her fiancé in the most selfish way ever. When she is back in Muddleford, I saw her opening up, and I liked her even more! Even if her Aunty Lil passed away, Nellie still regards the house and the belongings with the required respect. And when she hears an information about jack, even if she is a bit devastated by it, she does the right thing. Because she is NOT that kind of woman!
I’ll be very quick about my feelings about Jack… he’s just perfect!!! But so I found the whole community just amazing. Even if there was a character I initially disliked, in the end I found myself loving just each and every one that appeared in the story. And then there is Norman… he is the One that truly stole my heart!!!
This story was about finding a place to call home, of having the feeling of belonging somewhere. It was sweet, hopeful yet also a few times heart-breaking. It shows us that sometimes a change of scenery can have a huge impact on our lives and it’s easier to realize what was going wrong before and what changes we need to make to find happiness again.
I think this book should start with a very important warning because you will find it just impossible to put away! You’ll need to find a hiding place to avoid interruptions because no matter what you will do in-between sessions, this story will keep your mind busy. And for me, this book was a treasure and I gladly gave up any sleep for it! I want to applaud the author and give her a big hug for making me forget everything in this chaotic world!
I have a confession. I have bought Kim’s previous books although this is the first that I’ve actually got around to reading. And such a lovely read it is.
Poor Nellie. Her introduction to the story is rather rubbish for her after losing both her fiance and her job all at once. However unexpected events leads her to travel to Dorset and, in particular, back to Muddleford – somewhere that is very familiar to her.
I really felt for Nellie as she tries to adjust to a whole range of feelings and decisions that had to be made, including loss, and regret for those things we do, or don’t do in life and which is now too late. There is one consolation however, being back in Muddleford she is thrown into contact again with Jack, her younger self crush, now a dashing and successful vet who seems as pleased to see her as she is him. However as Nellie and Jack slip into their old easy teasing ways with each other it seems that Jack is not being entirely honest.
This was a delightful and charming read of friendship, making peace with the past and facing new beginnings. It was filled with much humour and heartwarming moments juxtaposed with themes of loss, misunderstandings and anguish. There is a myriad of characters – some that are so engaging, such as Nellie – capable but still vulnerable. Her best friend Shivani – a livewire but with common sense and advice who wasn’t adverse to giving Nellie a metaphorical kick up the backside when needed, and the community spirit that comprises Muddleford. There are of course those who are not as wonderful and may make you roll your eyes! Finally there is Norman. Norman you stole my heart!
I thoroughly enjoyed my time in Muddleford. Kim’s writing had perfect pace, combined with superb characters who felt so authentic and a plot that completely drew me in until the final page turn. Definitely recommended.
There's times the perfect book comes along at the perfect time and this is definitely one of them! On a week I was craving something warm, hopeful and lovely, along came this- a book that ticked all these boxes and so many more. As I said everywhere I recommended this book, it began with all the things I love at the start of a book, a break up and the loss of a job (I'm mean like this!) Add to this some sad news, memories that struck a chord and beyond resonated with me, soo many words of wisdom and yet so much warmth and en pointe rom com moments too and you'll understand why I can't but recommend this book about everywhere and anywhere. I'll admit I have one thing I would have loved to have 'seen' in the ending, but it's quite pernickity of me and actually more showed how much I loved this gem of a book! Beyond recommended!
This book is so lovely it’s like receiving a warm hug
This book is gorgeous and uplifting. I fell in love with Nell, Muddleford Cove, Aunt Lil’s letter, Nell’s childhood memories and Jack. It was wrapped beautifully up in the author’s witty humour. I now have a huge crush on Jack and need to work through my feelings.
This is definitely a book gift for a much loved friend or family member as it will, I guarantee, make them smile.
Another touching, feel-good read in a beautiful setting from Kim Nash, with loveable characters, gripping conflicts and uplifting resolutions. The perfect pick-me-up!
Kim Nash is vast becoming one of my favourite authors where I am guaranteed a wonderfully, heart-warming and uplifting read.
We first meet Nellie when her already bad day is about to get a whole lot worse. Even for someone going through a bit of a tough time, the author brings a bit of humour into it, more so through Nellie’s best friend whose character I adored. I would love for both of these ladies to be in my life!
The author whisks us away to a wonderful setting where for Nellie, dreams really can come true. She may have been down on her luck but things are definitely on the up with an inheritance and getting reacquainted with a childhood crush. I was swept along with Nellie and Jack as sparks definitely start to fly. As with all these authors books, the protagonist is someone who readers can certainly relate to. Through their lives, she offers the reader hope and that anything is possible.
I have to give a shout out to a character who I particularly loved but for all the wrong reasons. Natalia is one of those characters who you kind of love to hate. She really doesn’t give Nellie an easy time of it and so many times I was having to sit on my hands as I read her snarky underhand comments to poor Nellie and felt like giving her a good slap. She certainly makes things interesting in the story and I loved how my thoughts about her changed throughout the story.
Moonlight Over Muddleford Cove is a gorgeous read that I absolutely adored. I loved everything about it! I laughed, I cried and went through an array of emotions whilst reading it. I can’t help but devour this authors books in one go. They are way too good but then I tell myself off for being so greedy as before I know it I have come to the end and then feel bereft at having to say goodbye to the characters. The good thing about this book as well as her others, I could easily read them over and over again knowing that I will love them every bit as much as I did first time round, if not more. A book that gives it’s reader a big hug and leaves you feeling all warm and cosy inside.
Every time I read a book by this author I find myself welling up at some point in the story. Her latest book Moonlight Over Muddleford Cove is another that had the odd tear once again escaping!
What a week Nellie has had. She loses her job and her fiance then she gets a call that her Aunt Lil has passed away. It is mentioned a couple of times that the timing is serendipitous, I love this word by the way, as Aunt Lil has left Nellie her estate.
Nellie hasn't seen Aunt Lil since her mother dragged them say after a bitter row one summer holiday. Nellie never knew what the argument was about and was never allowed to contact Lil again. Everyone should have an Aunt Lil in their lives, she is someone who has had past troubles but had worked her way through them, living life to the full. What a shame Nellie and Lil didn't meet as adults.
Along with Nell, there are some other quite important characters who have quite an impact on this story for various reasons, I will however let you discover them when you read the book! They add extra dynamics to the story and take in routes that allow the author to explore various routes.
I have recently read a Blog Post that the author wrote about where the idea for Muddleford Cove came from. It was from a similarly named beach where the author used to holiday and the memories definitely help to create such a wonderful sounding area of Dorset. The author then adds her characters and creates such a fabulous community.
Memories of Lil are shared and she sounds like a real hoot and a character who the author has portrayed so well as a well respected and also well-loved lady. A chance for Nellie to take stock of her life, assess her choices and catch up with old friends and all the while surrounded by the warmth of the community and the memory of Lil.
This is such a wonderful book that I devoured, I do wish I didn't read so quick! I loved the sense of community, the feeling of belonging and the chance of a new future. Another wonderful read by a fabulous author who knows how to nail the emotional aspects of her stories. One for those who love heartwarming stories that will have you sniggering or swallowing the lump in your throat. One I would definitely recommend.
Moonlight Over Muddleford Cove follows Nellie, a woman whose life appears to be falling to pieces. She has lost her job, her fiance has left her, she can’t afford the house, oh and better yet, her fiancé’s boys only trips away hadn’t actually been boys only. She has every right to be a hot mess. But what she doesn’t know is that a phonecall from a solicitors back in Muddleford is going to bring back more than memories.
Nellie, or Nellie-bum gets reacquainted with her past, bringing back a surge of feelings, potentials and new attitudes. As well as more than she bargained for. But I can’t say wait without spoiling the surprise.
But I can tell you what I thought:
*The writing style was addictive, it just flowed and flowed on the page until suddenly you wanted to be relaxing outside of a beach hut. I loved every minute of it and soon forgot how long I had been reading for.
*Nellie was adorable, she started of a such a meek, afraid of change kind of gal. The best part about the book was her character arc and the way her midlife crisis was handled.
*I also loved loved Jack! He reminds me so much of my partner. He was adorable and is the regular guy sort of love interest and this regular guy managed to steal my heart.
*The characters felt real, like a friendship circle I have joined. They really were a diverse cast and each personality so unique.
*The only thing that let me down about the book was in places I found it a little bit predictable. But this is probably because I have been reading alot of romance recently and binging a load of romcoms. The predictability meant I couldn’t justify a 5 star rating but it hit a solid 4.5 with me.
What a fabulous story to escape into this proved to be – a humorous story filled with memories, family, reconnections and surprises, skilfully blended into a fun, heartwarming read to put a smile on your face! It is an enthralling read which I just didn’t want to put down until I’d finished reading it.
After finding out that she’ll shortly be out of a job Nellie Wagstaff then discovers her fiancé has been cheating on her and she has a letter from a solicitor asking her to contact them. Fortunately that is both sad and happy news. The death of her aunt has Nellie revisiting Muddleford, the Devonshire seaside resort where she spent many happy childhood summers. She can’t wait to meet Norman, who her late Aunt loved but there’s more than one surprise in store for her as she explores possibilities, reconnects with old friends, makes new ones, discovers a manipulative frenemy – and uncovers family secrets from the past.Is this a chance for a fresh start for her? Should she stay in her new home or return to her old one?
This fun story is about revisiting the past, taking chances, rethinking relationships and finding love. It has a plethora of brilliant characters, most of whom you’ll love and just one or two to be wary of. There are lots of inspirational messages, a brilliant community, a superb setting and so much more to enjoy in this delightful romantic comedy. I thoroughly enjoyed reading it and can’t recommend it highly enough!
Thanks for my copy of this book which I have voluntarily read and honestly reviewed after giggling my way through it.
A beautiful heartwarming tale of love and romance, with echos of what could have been, intertwined with hope for the future. An unmissable book that will fill your heart with joy.
As far as weeks go, this had been a bad one for Nell, losing both her fiancé and her job within a matter hours. Then she gets a mysterious call from a solicitor in Dorset and finds herself the only beneficiary of her late Aunt’s will. A house, a beach hut and a fancy car later, she finds herself staying at her new house in Muddleford Cove.
Nell is delighted that her old friend /sweetheart, Jack is still living next door. However any sniff of romance with him seems to be completely thwarted by his relationship with Natalia – or is it? She certainly seems think that there is a lot more to their relationship, than Jack does. Natalia does however waste no time in warning Nell to stay away from Jack, treating him like a prized possession .
Callum, the ex fiancé turns up wanting to start up where they left off! The nerve!
You will have to read for yourself to find out:
Is Natalia and Jack’s ‘relationship’ a two way thing, or a figment of Natalia’s overactive imagination? Will there be any romance between Jack and Nell! Will Nell stay in Muddleford? Will Nell get back with Callum? What I do know is that you WILL enjoy this book.
When Nell finds her life is falling apart, a solicitors letter arrives that changes everything. Finding herself back in Muddleford Cove, Nell’s life is changed by the death of her once much loved aunt Lil. With so many unanswered questions, faces from the past and possibilities for the future, will Nell stay in Muddleford or will she head back and try to make a go of her old life?
This book is a joy. I loved the characters, especially the feisty women, swoon worthy Jack and sweet Norman the dog. Throw in some sunshine, a beautiful setting and what you get is a story that will make you smile and feel uplifted. If the cold or wet weather is dragging you down, get yourself a copy of #MoonlightOverMuddlefordCove it will bring a little sunshine and happiness into your day.
I whizzed through the audio version of this book and absolutely loved it. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
Meet Nell. A thirty-something woman, whose life is going nowhere. No job, no boyfriend and no hope. However, when an unexpected letter arrives in the post, Nell heads for the Dorset coast, her life changing forever.
Will she find happiness amongst the beach huts and ice cream stalls? This is the third book I've read by this author and it lived up to expectations.
What I love about her books, is that she can take real-life situations and draw you in completely. I really loved how the story flowed, from a bleak Midlands setting to the sun-kissed coast where everything just seemed so much more vibrant.
Nell was a great character, stumbling through life until fate plays its hand, the young woman trying to adapt to her new surroundings, old friends coming to her aid.
A lovely book, with laughs, tears and a wonderful setting to immerse yourself in.
3.5 rounded up to 4/5 In the words of @BeritTalksBooks on Instagram, this book is a “cozy UK romance” which I think is the perfect 3 word summary for this novel. That is not to say that it doesn’t contain some sad subject matter, as it does... rather that the overall mood is light-hearted and a happy ending is guaranteed. You will get plenty of atmosphere from the small, fictionalized beach-town setting which might inspire wanderlust. This straight forward romance novel is perfect for a quick beach read or as a nice happy book between heavier novels. As far as the genre goes, this is a “clean” read, equivalent to a PG movie.
This is just a lovely summery read. I could picture myself in Nellie's cottage and this book made me long for the sea. Jack and Nellie's realtionship is touching and it's clear their past history has created a bond between them but can they rekindle their teenage feelings? Natalia is a great if unwelcome character in the story and does her best to deter Nellie but will she succeed? The beach hut is a lovely touch making this a light-hearted summer escape, perfect for reading in the garden or if you're lucky, on the beach.
I only took a day to read this book!!. Once I started I couldn't stop!!. The thing about Kim's storytelling is,there's always humour and always a happy ending. This time there were some really poignant messages about life which I'll leave you to find but I thought they were very apt!!. This book is definitely worth a read . You'll love the story of Nell and what happens to her. In fact I guarantee you won't be able to put it down till you've finished either!!.
What an absolute delight of a book. A real heartwarming story. I just couldn't put it down. This author has a knack of making me cry, in a good way, every time. It really made me want to live in this lovely place, and experience the sights and smells of the seaside. I thoroughly recommend this book. Loved it!
This book was light and breezy, just what I needed! It was a quick book, perfect for reading on the beach or curled up in a comfy chair. I enjoyed the story.
