One Night in Amsterdam

Rate this book
It was a job like any other,
In a beautiful city I’d visited before.
Nothing spectacular about any of it,
Except he was in town too.
What were the odds?
My best friend, my oldest friend.
The boy I’d crushed on briefly in high school
We hadn’t seen each other in a few years,
But I planned to show him my favorite parts of the city.
To laugh and drink together, to just have fun.
That was it.
But one kiss turned into another, and the night was ours.
But was it the start of something else?
Or would it always be just one night ?

(Also writes under the pen name Natasha Jackson).

Hey I'm Natasha and I love stories. I love to read them, to watch them and most of all I love to wrtie them. I find people endlessly fascinating and frustrating, which makes for the most interesting stories!

I also love politics and true crime so in addition to writing romance, I also write political satire & thrillers. It has been my dream to make a living as a writer since I was a kid and got lost in Judy Blume, The Babysitter's Club and Sweet Valley High (is my age showing?!?!). When I'm not writing I can be found engaging in one-sided conversations with Rachel Maddow, singing very loudly very badly and trying out new cuisines from around the world.

I love to laugh, I gave my husband a sappy pet name and I think answers to most of life's dilemma's can be found in an episode of Dawson's Creek.

My first series, Mustang Prairie, is small town romance because I feel they offer a variety of fun characters whose lives are interconnected. It is based loosely on my college town, which was the smallest town I've ever lived in...Go Panthers!

One Night in Amsterdam by N.D. Jackson is the first book in the One Night series and is a friend to lovers contemporary romance story. It is a very quick read at only 76 pages but has Hallmark movie feels. If you are looking for something that takes you away for a few ours then this is the book to do it.
The characters Trish and Nate are well written and their friends to lovers budding romance was sweet, but it didn’t jump off the page at me.
What started out of years of being BFF’s, friendship turns into something more. After not seeing each other for a few years these two meets up again in Amsterdam. Older and wiser the two see what has been between them for years. This sweet tale is with some steam, and yes there is a HEA. One night is all it takes.
Grab a copy and settle in.

I loved reading Trish and Nate's story of love. Trish had a bed experience growing up. Her father left her and her mother high and dry to be with another women. She and Nate became friends during her time of sorrow in the school yard. Trish grew up to have a glamorous career as a photographer traveling the world. Nate started his own business and was also a success. Trish's mother played matchmaker and told her Nate was on business in Amsterdam too and they should get together. They got together and the sparks began to fly. I just wish that the story had been longer.

cute, short and sweet

This one was a quick read, but super cute and low angst. Two childhood bffs reunited while both traveling to Amsterdam - with some steam and some sweetness. Heavy on the atmosphere and some local details that tell you: the author’s just as much of a “travel bug” as Trish is.
A really fun one.

One Night in Amsterdam is Book One in the One Night Series. It is a friends to lovers contemporary romance full of angst, passion, romance, and friendship. The story centers around Trish and Nate, who grew up together in a small town and became best friends after she experienced the heartache of her father leaving her and her mom for another woman.
Trish has gone on to become a world-class photographer and has done her best to stay away from the small town that she grew up in because she does not want to experience other people’s pity over what happened to her years ago. Nate, on the other hand, has stayed in his hometown and has a successful gift shop business. Both of their lives have been very busy over the years, and they have managed to remain in contact, but not as much as they would like to. When they are both in Amsterdam at the same time Trish calls Nate to see if they can hang out together and catch up. After spending a night on the town together in Amsterdam they share a kiss that can make or break their friendship. The tension is palpable as both Trish and Nate struggle between deciding whether they want to continue a friendship or if they want to have it become something more. Neither one of them wants to make the first move for fear of losing out on their friendship.

This was a short novella, but the author has done an amazing job of packing a lot of detail and emotions into this quick read. This is a sweet little romance story that equally balanced the delicate nature of an endearing friendship and that of the passion between two people who were clearly destined to be together. It is obvious based on the details in the book that the author has done a great deal of research or has visited Amsterdam herself and is familiar with the area. I look forward to reading the next book in the series.

A diva type male model client, Marcel, is counting on having a photo shoot done by Trish in Amsterdam. Prior to leaving, her mother told her that her best friend, Nate, was also in Amsterdam. They have had clashing schedules with her traveling for her job and his opening his gift shops. Several years had passed since they had seen each other.
She pays for dinner and takes him to several different places. At the end of the night she offers him to see the balcony view she has. Once inside the room, they both began making out. Things move to the bedroom and they share a night of incredible passion.
The next evening Nate surprises Trish and they eat in. She is so tired that they end up just cuddling all night. However, Nate gets a call that his meeting has changed places and has to leave early.
Nate texts Trish on the plane with his feelings. He presses send…

The tension that builds in this book is intense. Trish and Nate teeter on the edge, both wondering if they should make the first move or not. Their shared inner turmoil over possibly losing a life-long friendship over a chance encounter was captivating. Would it only be a one night stand? If so, would it ruin their friendship? Trish was a jet setter traveling photographer while Nate was based in River Crest, a town Trish hated for the pity that people had when her father left. Can she possibly get past her dislike of River Crest to indulge in a relationship with Nate?

An unpredictable plot with plenty of heated steamy scenes makes this a perfect first book in the One Night series. I look forward to reading the sequel and am happy to award this romance novel a perfect 5 stars.

A spicy-sweet short story where two lifetime friends get together after three years apart. You know the story, adult friends who get caught up in their adult lives and always mean to get together but one thing leads to another and suddenly they haven't seen each other in a decade and just exchange memes on facebook, but the minute they get together all sorts of talking and friending happening.

Well, their paths get a chance to cross - him shopping for a retail store overseas and her on a photoshoot as a photographer in the same random European city. One Night in Amsterdam gives them a chance to meetup, and being best friends for nearly two decades, they grab at it. The attraction that shimmered in adolescence wasn't worth risking the friendship they both desperately needed in the small town they lived in; but, now, when no one was looking...

I'm a sucker for friends-to-more stories. These are people who know each other. Bonus star for a black heroine. That said, both male and female leads are fairly generic as is their friendship, as are the "exotic" locations, sex scenes, and temporary roadblock to the HEA. It is a serviceable story and fun with them taking selfies while sight-seeing.

TL/DR - A quick short story with sexy times between long-time friends. Can they make it beyond one night?

One Night in Amsterdam is the first book in the new One Night series by N.D. Jackson. I have enjoyed several of Ms. Jackson’s series now- so when I saw this had released there was no hesitation in one-clicking a copy to dive into.
This is a short contemporary romance with a friends to lovers element, angst, drama, steam, one night, one kiss, and finding love unexpectedly- which made for a sweet read.
Trish and Nate find themselves in Amsterdam, friends reconnecting after several years apart. A night on the town leads to a kiss that will either make or break them. Can their friendship survive? Will it ignite the spark of something deeper? Or will it be the beginning of the end?
This is a novella-length story, which made for a quick and easy read- but I think the story was too quick as it didn’t allow me the time to fully connect and invest in the characters the way I was hoping to. I think if the story was a little longer, I would have connected more and been able to fully invest in Trish and Nate and the outcome of their story. As it is though, it’s a sweet romance.
Happy Reading…

Thank you, N.D. Jackson!

This is the first book in the One Night Series. I have read several books by this author and I have loved everyone. These stories are quick reads but they pack so much emotion and feelings into them. What I also love is that even though they are a shorter story they always feel complete where as some short reads tend to feel a bit unfinished but these stories never do.
This author does an incredible job of making the characters and their situations relatable and the characters all have pasts and flaws just like normal people.

In this story we meet Nate and Trish.
They have been friends all their lives. Even when their careers take them in different directions they still try and stay in touch but it isn't always easy.
When fate puts them both in Amsterdam at the same time they jump at the chance to spend some time together. As their friendship comes back to life so do other feelings that neither expected but they are powerless to resist.
What happens next is a steamy encounter but will it just be a one night thing or possible more? And what happens when mis communication threatens to end a beautiful relationship before it even has a chance to start?

What a fun little read this was. This short and sweet spicy romance follows jet-setting fashion photographer Trish as she meets up with her childhood best friend, Nate, for one night while they both happen to be on business for Amsterdam. Things are different now that they are adults, and sparks are flying. I loved that this was a full story that gave me everything I needed. The plot was not missing anything for me, and the writing flowed well. The spice was emaculate, and not cringy at all. If you have a couple hours to kill, I highly recommend grabbing this one. I think when they're short and sweet like this, it cuts out a lot of unnecessary conflict building, which a lot of authors struggle with. That's what gives us that dreaded, easily-resolved, why aren't they just talking about it, miscommunication trope. This one has that, but low and behold, the characters are adults and resolve it together.

One Night in Amsterdam (One Night in… Series) by N.D. Jackson. I am loving this One Night in....series so much. This one is a friends to lovers contemporary romance. It's the story of Trish and Nate who are friends in school and go their separate ways after school. Trish has gone on to become a world known photographer and tries to stay far away from her hometown because of the drama her dad caused when he left Trish and her mom. Nate has done the opposite and has stayed in their hometown and owns a gift shop. He and Trish have managed to remain friends and one night when Trish is in Amsterdam and she finds out Nate is there as well they agree to meet up. As they enjoy spending the evening together when its about to come to an end, they kiss. Will they take it further or will they remain friends only. Read this contemporary romance to find out! It will keep you flipping pages late in the night!

An enjoyable and engaging contemporary romance novella with a friend’s to lovers theme. Trish and Nate have been best friends for years but hadn’t seen each other for a few years. They then meet up in Amsterdam and Trish who has visited before offers to show Nate her favourite places to go. Having had a drink, or two, and a laugh together they share a kiss, or two. As the kiss leads to a night spent together the friends must decide if it was the start of something, or just one night. This was a quick and easy read which kept me happily turning the pages. The chemistry between Trish and Nate sizzled off the page and led to a steamy night together. I wish the story had been longer as I didn’t feel as connected as I could have done to the characters. The city of Amsterdam came vividly to life through the descriptive narrative, setting the scene nicely.

I have thoroughly enjoyed other books by this author, so I picked this one up to give it a try. This was a short read that is perfect for an afternoon as it is easy to jump into. Surprisingly, the author is able to fit all of the necessary details to complete this novella. I loved it so much that I would enjoy an extended version! The characters, Trish and Nate, find themselves in a ‘should we or shouldn’t we’ situation and the tension continues to build heavily. There are some steamy scenes as well, but the author doesn’t rely on them to carry the plot by any means. I found myself rooting for these two the entire time I was reading. The vivid description of Amsterdam allows you to feel as if you’re part of the story instead of merely reading about it. If you’re looking for a quick getaway full of romance, steam, and emotion, you won’t want to miss this!

This is an author that I have enjoyed reading from the first book. I enjoy this author’s creative writing style where their character’s are full of heart and soul. They are connectable and bring their story to life on every page. I enjoy how they pulled me into their world from the beginning. This is a story where two friends take kissing to the next level. What will fate have in store for these two? This is a romance story you don’t want to miss. This is a fast paced, engaging story that is easy and entertaining to read. A hard to put down story that I really enjoyed reading. This is the first book in this series and I look forward to seeing what is next for this series. I highly recommend this book.

Checking out this author for the first time. I love the cover. The people are stunning. Even though it was a super short read(only about 80 pages), it was still amazing. This story is an awesome start to the One Night in series. N.D. Jackson perfectly weaves romance and adventure, immersing readers in the vibrant atmosphere of Amsterdam. The characters are well-developed, and their chemistry is palpable, making their journey both relatable and enchanting. The author's vivid descriptions transport you to the lively streets, enhancing the reading experience. Jackson's writing style and engaging storytelling make it a delightful read. Those looking for a quick escape to one of Europe’s most beautiful cities this is definitely that. Highly recommended!

This book is a sweet story about old childhood friends reuniting during their travels and becoming more. It is quite a short story but the author has done a great job of capturing a full story and making you, as the reader, become invested in their journey. I loved watching these two characters rediscover each other after so many years.
I thought the book was more enjoyable as it was set in Europe – Amsterdam to be precise. It made for a nice change to the usual settings books like this tend to be. I enjoyed the overall writing style that the author brought to book and through it was a truly great read.

What a steamy quick read. Only one thing is more important than best friends in childhood. That's continued best friends as adults. Trish and Nate are just that couple. They are best of friends and when they come together in Amsterdam more than expected happens. What more you ask? Only reading this story will tell you. I love this author and her imagination. You can tell she loves to travel just by the landmarks she explains. Her writing is fast paced and very clear. She gets her characters to their point and leaves you wanting so much more. I look forward to seeing where this series goes next.

If you’re looking for a quick, good feel read, this is the book for you! Trish and Nate go through a vast amount of emotions in this story as they are high school buddies and now traveling through Amsterdam for business. They end up meeting up and reconnecting. Although time has passed and they have matured, their chemistry has not changed. Trish had a high school crush on Nate but nothing came out of it. It is such a funny thing to hear when people reconnect in the future and their desire for one another grows and prospers. In this one night together of Nate and Trish, they enjoy each other’s company, enjoy the sights, and share sweet and steamy moments together.

One Night in Amsterdam: A friends to lovers, one night love story (One Night Series Book 1)

This book was a much needed escape after this week. Nate and Trish's story was incredibly sweet.

He was her knight in shining armor when they were kids. When the other kids weren't nice to Trish and picked on her, Nate was her friend and took care of things.

Though they're best friends they don't see each other often, luckily they both end up in Amsterdam at the same time and are able to reconnect as friends and end up more.

Happy stories with happy endings will be my main genre at least for a while. Anything to bring me some joy.

Trish and Nate have been friends since childhood and she had a major crush on him. Maybe the timing was never right or maybe Nate just never reciprocated her feelings at the time. When they both ended up in Amsterdam they meet up for dinner. Of course they have a lot of catching up to do and have a great time. As their evening comes to a close they end up sharing a kiss. One becomes two and two becomes more than should be shared on a doorstep. Is this one night to see what could have been or will they end up with a happily ever after? This book was less than 100 pages but there is so much packed into the pages. I enjoyed this short read and I look forward to other stories in this series.

One Night in Amsterdam is Book 1 in the One Night series and I was excited and anticipating reading this story.....and I was not disappointed!! This is a great friends to lovers romance when two best friends, Trish and Nate, reconnect in Amsterdam. I love the true connection between Trish and Nate and seeing each other again, stirs up more than just friends getting together to catch up. What happens after that one night... definitely read and find out!

I love the sweet connection between characters and I am looking forward to more in this series.

This is a short and sweet romance. The main characters have been friends forever but haven’t seen each other in a while. When they happen to be in the same place they get together for one unforgettable night filled with wonderful sights and great memories. After one mistake it seems they might lose a lifelong friendship but this definitely ends with an HEA. The author brings you in from the very beginning and leaves you guessing until the very end. It is so worth the little bit of time it will take to read it.

The book is a relatively quick read, yet its brevity doesn't compromise the story's nuance and flow. Trish and Nate, friends for decades, have pursued careers that have taken them in different directions. By serendipity, fate, or Cupid's whimsy, they find themselves reuniting in Amsterdam. As they reconnect, they uncover revelations that there is more than friendship brewing between them. The narrative ticks all the boxes, providing sweetness, romance, passion, and a happily ever after.

This is the first book in a new series and is such a cute short read. This book is only about 76 pages, but a lot is packed in those few pages. Trish and Nate have been best friends since childhood. They meet up again years later in Amsterdam as adults, and the chemistry is off the charts for both of them. This is a contemporary friends to lovers small town romance. I can't wait for more books in this new series.

It was a quick read. It was an okay romance. I found the story was sweet and stamy. It had a cute to it. There were two besties that realized they had true feelings for each other. You could feel their chemistry. The characters are each pretty unique and fit the story well. It’s a pretty good story. Short and sweet.

This is a quick little novella that had my wondering if the story would be complete in just a few short pages. I was not disappointed! Trish and Nate were best friends who lost touch for awhile. They meet up in Amsterdam and they find themselves building into something more. A sweet story with a HEA.

To start with I have read many books by this author and each one has been a great read. The characters are full of heart, full of emotion, strong characters, and they have great chemistry with each other. The only drawback with One Night in Amsterdam was it was entirely too short. Even though it was short, quick, and easy to read it packed the typical punch I’ve come to expect from N.D. Jackson.

Absolutely loved this quick spicy best friends to lover HEA novella length. Having been to Amsterdam myself I loved the descriptions. And knowing the feeling all too well of hiding feelings for your best friend during the teen years, that was spot on. Great read for sure.
