It's a leap of faith to believe in a dream...

So let me get this straight... I've been abducted in my sleep, thrown into a stasis pod and now this huge, winged warrior guy is rescuing me and telling me I'm his 'mate' because he saw me in his dreams?

Aloryk is everything I've ever wanted in a man - plus a few added extras.

He's devoted, a good listener, sculpted like a Greek God and seems to love all my curves even though he doesn't quite know what to do with them.

He says I'm the female he dreams of.

But what if that's all it is, just a dumb dream?

**Alien Protector's Dreams is the fourth book in The Fated Mates of the Winged Warriors series. It is not a standalone and will need to be read in order to understand the context and worldbuilding. If you enjoy primitive alien jungles, virgin heroes who have never seen women before, and 7ft winged guys who are devoted to their fated mates, dive right in to the first book, Alien Protector's Mate!**

It was so yummy...but I just hate the trope of "the insecure curvy FMC is jealous of their slimmer sister." I loved that the aliens did not see her as less, but still, the constant mental comparing left a bitter taste. Also, I wanted more information about the "goddess" plot, and the time jump at the end seemed... peculiar.

I CAN'T YOU GUYS. 🤭🤭🤭

Honestly, these books are just so fun and cute. I really never would've anticipated reading something like this but I'm so deep into this series and they just keep HITTING.

100% recommend reading the full series. All of the MMC's are such sweetie pies. We LOVE a man who is so down bad and obsessed with his FMC and these boys absolutely GIVE.

Aloryk was COMMITTED to Polly, heart stars be damned. I feel like this was the first story in the series that actually had a lot of heart and tackled a lot more plot for the FMC than any of the other stories which was different and kept the book from feeling like a copy paste of the other ones.

I'm super excited to see where the story goes and PLS give me Chastity and Tryk already 😭

For the love of all the goddesses!!! A cliffhanger! Seriously! How am I meant to function in my life without knowing what happens during that one year time period! First off finally the sparkly feathered hotties, believe that the tiny ball of light isn’t really a goddess and that the Temple is a sham! Secondly, Chastity and Delphi have mates! I hope Chastity is Tryk’s mate because come on, I’ve been holding out for both of them since the first book! I hope the next book is about them. And thirdly, I can’t wait to see how Niska’s story works into the book because it will explain what happens with the Temple and all those juicy details! Which I will be over here desperately waiting for! And last, but not least when is the next book coming out!?

I definitely liked this less than the first three but I love the world and the underlying backstory and want to see more of these.

I want to read Sophia and Chaz-titi’s stories, hope these are next.

Polly had a poor self image and trauma from her dad leaving, and it led her to being a bit insecure. This was exacerbated by being thrown into an intensely stressful situation of waking up on an alien planet with creepy monsters trying to eat her. She was also a loving partner and someone who tried to be kind. Aloryk was dealing with his own insecurities of being injured to the point of probably not being able to fly again. He was all cinnamon roll and was 100% in on Polly from the moment he saw her. They had a sweet relationship. I didn’t love the third act breakup, but it did fit both of their responses to their own insecurities. I thought the ending was very well done.

Spice: 3/5

Triggers: violence, gore, threat of being eaten, anima attack, dead body, ableism, sex pollen (get as much consent as they can), internalized fatphobia, father leaving for secret fam (past), mild horror, alien abduction (off page)

Adorable and Angsty

"Alien Protector's Dreams" by Melissa Emerald is another great addition to 'The Faded Mates of the Winged Barbarians' series. This time, we follow Aloryk and Polly in an adorable and angsty alien romance. Polly has some baggage from her human life and they have plenty of miscommunication issues despite no language barrier. Aloryk is obsessed with Polly and never gives up on being faded mates despite their issues. I love how Emerald sets up connections with her next series. Can't wait to read more!

This story has been dying to be read. Finally we find out what happened to Aloryk.
A nice balance of sweet & sexy with action & trauma, as well as propelling the story forward with the mystery of the temples.
Seriously what the heck is going on?
I’m intrigued and left hyped up for the next book.

Honestly, these are just SO easy to sit and read. They’re cute, they have such fantastic relationships and characters and some really nice, inclusive, character building. I’m actually a little upset that there are only 4, I could read so many more.

Aloryk is captured by the Mimyckah and badly injured,  carried to their cave he finds the pods of the human females and between them is the one he's been dreaming.
Rescued they start the trek through the jungle and a bond forms but his heart stars don't show and that brings insecurities and fears....
Well written with a captivating plot and storyline, multilayered characters that steal your heart from very beginning ,is definitly a must read !

ARC REVIEW: Alien Protector’s Dreams by Melissa Emerald

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

The Fated Mates of the Winged Barbarians series is back with book four - Aloryk and Polly’s story! 💜

We’ve been introduced to Aloryk in the past books and his dreams of finding a mate with purple hair. This book picks up at Aloryk being taken by the mimyckah to human women still in pods, where he finds beautiful purple-haired Polly in one of them!

I loved so many things about this book. Aloryk was the perfect protective himbo hero we’ve come to love from this series. Polly had doubts about Aloryk’s feelings because of her past trauma with her family and because she didn’t think someone like Aloryk could love a plus-size girl like her, but Aloryk was enamored with Polly from the start and I loved how unwavering he was in admiring her beauty.

Once Aloryk and Polly make it back to the tribe, we’re reunited with characters we’ve come to know and love from the past books. I loved Chastity’s moments and a snip-it into what we might get with Bea and Zyntarr. Plus we’ve got more human women who’ve been rescued from pods, and an ongoing mystery and exciting progress with the Goddesses’ ship and what’s going on “behind the curtain!”

If you’re a fan of Ice Planet Barbarians and other alien romances with fun female relationships and heroes who are absolutely obsessed with their mates, this series is for you! I’ve been loving this series since discovering it and each release has been a drop-everything-and-read book for me. I’m so excited to see where these series take us!

While each book follows its own couple, there’s an ongoing backstory and details into other characters that extend across the books - I highly recommend reading this series in order for the best experience!

I gave Alien Protector’s Dreams five amazing stars ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ and I’m going to be yapping about it for awhile 😂 thank you so much to Melissa Emerald for this ARC!

Alien Protector’s Dream is releasing on Oct 1! ❤️

Polly battling body image issues while on a planet of extraterrestrial beings, who are awed by her very existence, inspired the same response I had to these women teaching the extremely well endowed alien males about the existence of blowjobs:
Why?

Also, these guys have wings and a tail. Alright?
They have no concept of human beauty standards, yet were quick to that ‘more to love’ mindset when it comes to curvy women.
It’s literally universal, as it should be.

I do get her latent insecurity and the importance of addressing it in order to give her some internal struggle to overcome or whatever, but I still wanted to take her by the shoulders and shake her a bit.

She’d probably say she was too big for me to do such a thing to her and then my hands would migrate to her neck.

It just all got to be a bit much.

And the spice was different.
Good, at first, but everything that followed was perfunctory or simply recapped, which was strange.

Of course, these stories are generally predictable, but this one was moreso than most.

It also features a lot more witness accounts of other people’s stories and connections which was something that had made me take a break when it was featured in this series before.

I don’t love spoilers.
I go into books blind if I can.

So, even getting a hint of what future relationships will be like is disappointing for me.

As was the obvious *grand reveal* in this plot line and how it was handled.
There was a good point in there about Polly’s valid trigger, but it seemed to go completely ignored, even when mentioned.

There was just a lot going on.
It was generally okay but definitely my least favorite.

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ — Wings, Heart Stars, and Purple-Haired Perfection

I have been feral for this series ever since the winged alien men with glowing heart stars showed up and politely ruined my standards forever. And now? We get Aloryk and Polly—aka the big, broody protector and the fabulous, purple-haired, plus-size goddess of my heart. FINALLY, someone said, “Hey, let’s write a love story that’s sweet, spicy, and features a heroine who isn’t a size two,” and I’ve never felt more seen.

These two? Adorable. Soft. Supportive. Just a big ol’ pile of mutual adoration with some heat sprinkled in for good measure. Their love felt so pure, like the kind of relationship that makes you want to hug your pillow and squeal. And yes, I did that. Zero shame.

The plot? We’re moving, baby! The story opens up a whole new level of intrigue—especially with that mysterious temple. I NEED answers. I need lore. I need a full archaeological alien romance deep dive. Also, can we talk about the chimp monsters for a second?? Because I was NOT okay. They’re nightmare fuel and I love it.

Melissa Emerald’s world-building just keeps leveling up, and at this point, I’d read her grocery list if it was set in this universe. Seriously. If you’ve been following the series, this installment is a glowing, beautiful reward. If you haven’t started yet, cancel your weekend plans and fix that.

10/10 would recommend.
12/10 for the heart stars.
15/10 for Polly and her fabulous purple hair.

I enjoyed the overarching storyline and I'm a sucker for the primitive alien world that has no females, & so the male aliens there revere any females that do show up- aka the abducted human ladies. Very much an Ice Planet Barbarians type of deal except the planet is an Amazon rainforest and the aliens are 7foot winged warriors.

But I despised the FMC, she came off as selfish, entitled, and dumb. Her character was then sacrificed to have plot pinch points (she made stupid decisions to bring about conflict & change) and her character couldn't afford them. Nor did her character ever grow, it was only those around her that did.

The mystery surrounding the goddess/ship was barely in the book (like maybe one scene) but it was very intriguing and added a lot to the book. I hope to see more fun things like this, whether it's a goal someone is hoping to achieve or a contest, or cultural pastime.

I enjoyed the other books in the series more than this one, so I would likely give the next book in the series a try when it comes out (if it's in KU).

i know i keep saying this but trust me this one is the best one!!!

PROOF,

I laugh before she breaks the surface, shaking my head and telling her while I continue to wash away the grime from my skin, “no, I am definitely possible.” I take a step toward her, ducking down to submerge more of myself into the waters. “Probable, even.” Polly rolls her eyes - eyes that are now at a level with mine as I near, river-waters sloshing over my shoulders. “In fact, I think where you’re concerned, little female, I am inevitable.”

She is surely made in the image of the Goddesses - she must be. Nothing could be more sacred.

“Finders… keepers…” he drawls in a low, growling tone, his face still so close to my flesh, I can feel the heat of his breath on me.

“I may not yet wear my heart-stars, but I proudly wear my mate’s female seed all over my face, brother. She. Is. Mine.”

Aloryk’s huge arms squeeze me just a little. “Yes. We will play your ‘finders-keepers’ for as long as existence lasts.” For as long as existence lasts.

I loved this!!

A lot of Polly’s characters was so fun to read, especially seeing her trauma reflect in her actions no matter how hard she fought against them, I think many people would find this annoying but I understood her on a visceral level as someone who is plus-sized because I often find myself thinking the same way as her

Despite this, I love that the author didn’t make her a flinching pansy or shy the way authors often do, she was just wary and on-guard instead which is a big difference and makes a world of a difference in terms of storytelling!

The misunderstanding was executed well, but I don’t actually care for misunderstandings in general, LOVED the grovel and emotion though!!!

This story leading into the next series is riveting, BUT I was really looking forward to seeing Chastity and Tryk’s story and I’m sad we won’t be getting that, also the questions about the temple!!!

Maybe all that will be answered with the next book, I think I’m gonna gather my britches and read it now hahahaha!

Another absolute banger in the series. I am telling you, these glittered winged aliens are now my absolute favorite and I cannot stop reading about them.

I love that we're expanding the world and getting new characters. And while I liked Polly, I do wish so much of the plot had not been focused on her insecurities. I love getting plus sized characters, and I think it's great to show how different it can make them feel and view themselves and the world. But I hate when the main plot is their body and insecurities. It can be present in the story, but I hate when its the MAIN focus.

And I do feel like the family trauma aspect of the story was built up and built up, to kind of wrap up super quick in the end. I wish we had delved a little more into the climax of that moment, rather than it being over super quickly and then everything was great.

I am SO glad we are finally getting to learn more about the goddess ship and I cannot wait to see where that entire plotline is going.

But again, fantastic book to a freaking fantastic series.

I love these books

I have devoured this books and I need more!!

The MMC Aloryk dreamt of his mate the FMC Poppy, so of course when he finally finds her it isn’t a question that they belong together.

The only thing is, someone forget to tell Poppy, the human who wakes on an alien planet after being abducted, that this 7ft alien man with wings and a tail, who while protecting her is being ripped apart by devil monkey like creatures is of course her one true love…

I love how innocent there alien men and how they accept their ‘females’ with no judgement, no expectations, no demands. They are every human woman’s dream, even if it takes the human woman a second or two to get to that same line of thinking.

I really hope more books are released and soon because I have eaten these books up and all the Easter egg snip-it’s of what might be to come have just filled my need more

My review for Alien Protector's Dreams by @melissa.emerald.author

Once again another wonderful edition to the series!
I had been waiting for Aloryk's story pretty much since they introduced him and it did not disappoint. I love how the common theme between him and Polly was healing and overcoming their trauma together. It was so so sweet.
I will also add that Aloryk being obsessed with having Polly 'tattoo' him? We love it. There was some world building in this book which I absolutely will not spoil but it was funny and felt like a real lightbulb moment. I can't wait for the next book in this series!
P.S. for anyone who needs to know, the spice was SO good and let's just say...that man can EAT 🤣🩷

Please note this is the 4th book in the series. Although they are stand alones, in my opinion you have to read them in order for any sort of world building to make sense.

Alien Protector’s Dreams features Polly, human and Aloryk, alien. This is the fourth book in the series and makes the most sense when read in order. In this instalment, Aloryk rescues Polly from her sleeping pod that’s been stolen by the alien creatures on the planet. Polly’s been through some trauma and doesn’t believe Aloryk when he says they are mates.

This was really adorable. I loved the alien plant mishap and the devotion that Aloryk displayed for the get go. Honestly, he’s been waiting on Polly and dreaming of her for the longest time it was nice to see him so happy. Polly was understandably hesitant, but it was also kind of frustrating for her not to believe Aloryk.

I hope this series continues one day, there’s so many great stories here that I want to get to - Chastity’s, Bea’s and Sophia’s are just the start!

I’m giving this 4 stars almost entirely for the MMC, Alloryk. He was incredibly sweet, vulnerable, and just wanted to be loved. Watching him wear his heart on his sleeve while being kept at arm's length was genuinely painful.

The FMC, Polly, was a huge struggle for me. I’m all for plus-size representation, but I hated how her entire personality was rooted in deep insecurity and jealousy. She spent so much time holding things against Alloryk and hurting him because of her own internal issues. The constant insecurity and the dynamic with her sister really grated on my nerves.

I enjoyed the overall story and the world-building, and as I said, Alloryk was the saving grace here. But man, it was hard to root for a lead who kept punishing a male character as sweet as him. I’ve loved this author's other works, but Polly just didn't do it for me.

This was sweet, and shows more of this lovely world and all the people in it. I loved "Ricky" when he was featured in the previous books, and I liked Polly well enough, even if that's a shit name for a leading lady. But *spoilers* I fucking hate miscommunication, it's my number one least favorite trope. Second least favorite? Q3 breakup. Third least favorite? Insecurities that drag. Guess what this book had in spades? All fucking three. They never even addressed her body insecurities and how the standards of beauty are different here. That's the ONLY reason to ever have an insecure woman. Is to highlight that beauty standards are not fucking universal, even on fucking Earth. That and representation. But no, they don't even acknowledge it let alone address it. Fuckin drove me mad. I skimmed the last bits, after the "breakup" part. Really not happy with this one unfortunately.

The way I sat and finished this book in one sitting, it was so good! The cliffhanger ending left me desperate for more—what happens with the temple conversation? Is Tessa going to go back, and how did Niska call Polly? I NEED to know what happens next! This book was such a great read with our alien MMC, Aloryk, who simps and adores his mate, found Polly because he saw her in his dreams. Reading the dynamic between Aloryk and Polly had me kicking my feet. From their insecurities to their adoration and protectiveness over each other, it was captivating. Although I wish the heart stars moment had occurred slightly earlier in the book rather than at the very end, it was well worth the wait. I can’t wait to dive into Sophie and Chastity’s stories whenever they release.

I’m starting to like the world and background characters more and am really interested in the Temple. I do really love Aloryk and how sweet he is but the main girl is lowkey annoying. This author isn’t very good at writing female characters. She just makes them really stereotypical and one dimensional. Like in this one, the girl is a plus sized girl who’s really insecure about her body and jealous of her skinny sister. Boring. Insecurity basically makes up her whole personality and is the main source of conflict within the romantic relationship.

But the romance itself has some really cute moments and the writing itself was a bit better in this one, and as a whole this book was better than the first two, so I’m hopeful it will continue to improve. I just want to get to Chastity’s book.
