Evidently, for whatever reason there were still many who fail to comprehend who Mikhail Bulatov really is. These are the ones who see him as just a Healer. Their attempts to kill him in a duel, or to simply poison him only amuse him. But his first government contract to treat an aristocrat is encouraging. Mikhail enjoys working as a Healer — it is, after all, his calling. And how refreshing to use his Gift not to kill, but to heal, as well.
Of course, he still has to do plenty of killing, especially because more and more hostile offworlders were showing up and their aim was nothing short of subjugating this world. But...that’s no easy matter when an Archmagister Healer has made this world his home.
This has yet to be published at the time of my review. My review is based off the ARC that I received. Now granted most ARCs have plenty of problems, misspelled words, missing words, flat out wrong words used and much more. One thing I don't run across a lot of is weird spacing between words of a sentence. I seen plenty of broken sentences in my time reading. You know what I mean, the sentence starts and suddenly for no reason the sentence is broken, but then continues on the next line leaving a huge gap. Well this book has it again and again between different words. Sometimes the spacing is normal, like in this review so far. But sometimes it is spaced out like this. Now I don't know if this is a formatting problem or the author trying to be sneaky and up his page count. What I do know is it kept breaking me out of the story. This is a real shame as it is an enjoyable popcorn book. I mean it is just a fun story. Now don't you worry about this though because I sent in a nice long list of corrections and made mention of the weird spacing that kept showing up. So hopefully it will be fixed before publishing. If not I would love it if someone would stop by and drop me a comment letting me know. I'm doing the best I can to help authors in other countries get a decent copy of their hard work published. No I don't get paid for this. I just love books and love reading so I try to help make sure you get the best read possible.
So for now 5/10 It really is a fun story with plenty more books planned.
Well, well, well. What a great read. I truly love this book, and series. And as I read each one I realize that they feed my addiction. I seriously love Mikhail Bulatov and his family and lands! He takes great pride in the fact that most of his neighbors only wants to see him dead and take his land. Not because he earned their ire... he's really a good guy. When will they ever learn that they aren't dealing with a mere Healer, a weakling... sigh... I know better! When they come up with a scheme that they're sure to is gonna win the day, I have a good belly laugh! Mikhail is the happiest when feeding the war machine, 'cause war makes him rich. Yeah Kooky is still my favorite pigeon... who's a good pigeon, you are Kooky. And beware the portent of dark purple clouds. Duck! Ducks, Indian runner ducks to be precise, a massive number of 'em. Quack! And for Mikhail Bulatov it's like money falling from heaven, food for both the refugees and peasants that are pouring onto his land hoping for succor! So yeah grab the book to feed your addiction.
Here's a couple of quotes, I'm purdy sure you'll know why they made me laugh:
"Allow me to introduce Countess De la Fillete Mignon,”
"I was buying up all of the pigeons. Every single one of them. I paid twenty thousand for them, but I was okay with that. And Kooky’s chest was puffed out now, he was so proud. Not to mention that a third of these new pigeons were cute little lady-birds."
I received a review copy of this book. Well, as far as LitRPG goes, this book was a flop. Next to nothing relating to LitRPG upgrading happened here. On the other hand, all kinds of interesting things took place, and even the pigeon got in on the looting this time. Great fun was had by all (well, obviously not the ones that were killed, or the ones that the pigeon robbed, or the ones that ...) well, ok, so not all, but you get the idea. If you've read the rest of them, no reason to stop now, the story is really moving along, and while there's next to no progress stat/building wise, there's plenty happening, so it's still worth the read.
I really enjoy these books. I really enjoy the series, but there are some critical flaws. I find it hard to justify nine dollars for the book due to the length and the fact that no major plot points are covered or occur during some of the books in the series Where they start seems a bit arbitrary. Obviously this is all subjective and doesn’t influence my actual rating of the material but in comparison to other books for the price, I feel like I get a little bit more in other places it is disappointing and I might be done reading the series at least until the price drops or it goes on Kindle unlimited
Just another awesome entry in the series. The action is top-notch, and there are so many laugh-out-loud moments—seriously, this book had me cracking up multiple times. I’m totally addicted to this series; I think I’ve listened to it two or three times already, and I’m still not tired of it. Book 10 just proves how consistently fun and exciting this world is. Love it.
I like this story and the MC, but to be a little mercenary, I dropped $8 for a book that doesn't do much to advance the overall story. I've spent more and had less fun, but are we going to see growth of the character's power? If this is going to be the continuing adventures of the Healer, I'll check in again in 2 or 3 books.
They even talk about how he's surrounded by enemies and how many, but instead of taking care of any of them, he makes more enemies. And then this big thing happens. he makes another enemy, then more stuff happens and he can't take care of any enemies it's so stupid
This latest installment left a lot to be desired. Very little advancement of the plot with lots of filler. Hopefully the next installment is better or I will be discontinuing this series.
Terrific! Action packed! Mikhail is a wonderful character. Great plot. Intrigue. HUMOR (specifically page 186- i laughed for a long time). I cannot wait for the next book to see what comes next . I love this series.
I quit! This the 10th book. The first free on Prime to lure you in and then each book going forward $8.99. But they are complete stories and it seems easily finished. So I am done, not wasting any more money.
How can I describe this book in a few words? A mish mash of ideas, waste of resources, A love of blood, war, and horror. I hope this is mostly AI, because if its from the minds human men, we are in trouble.
A better book the the previous book ( 9). Had more character growth and character interaction. Overall it's a simple easy read that's fast pacing fun and enjoyable.
Been awhile since I caught up with this series. It is fun but has its problems. Still it is good to follow the adventures Mikhail as he continues to rebuild his house. He's not a nice guy but he can be quite entertaining.
The off-worlders are attacking with more frequency than the past. There is a storm brewing. Of course, that mean more equipment to add to the collection! The fights are pretty intense.
