Gabrielle Hyde is bright, beautiful, and feisty, with a brilliant future ahead of her and an even darker past to overcome. Damian Hunt, CEO of Hunt Industries INC., is tormented by his inner demons, shattered past, and need to control.
When Elle falls into Hunt's life, their need to be possessed by the other takes hold, beginning the young couple's roller coaster affair. Damian becomes obsessed by Elle, his need to dominate her, and his ability to give her what she deserves...Possibilities.
When their pasts decide to make themselves present, Elle starts to wonder if she could ever truly give in to such...A DOMINANT MAN
I very rarely give one star. But this was a huge waste of time.
First of all, this is a cliffhanger. And it’s a really long first book in an apparent series… although I don’t think I’ll be reading the others.
I’m going to spill a lot of detail here, so be forewarned.
The story goes like this: Sexy billionaire with a dark past falls instantly in love with beautiful woman who also has a dark past. They know nothing about each other until the next day when Gabrielle finds out that Damian is the new guy who bought her company. She happens to be wealthy, so she's not impressed with his wealth, with the exception of a fancy car that he buys her 5 seconds into their relationship. Then it seems like it takes her all of a millisecond after the car to decide that she's in love with him too. And there’s drama between them every other paragraph having to do with their lack of trust in others, themselves, their sexual proclivities, exes. You name it. People they associated with in the past, family are trying to tear them apart. After a week.
There’s some dark and creepy stuff in this book: rape, incest (seemingly consensual, although it did not start that way), another attempted rape, suicide/murder. And I’m sure I’m missing something. Apparently it’s not enough just to explore a storyline that explores dominance and submission between two consenting adults, but let’s also throw in a lot of other stuff to create predictable suspense.
We’ve read this before, people! There’s nothing new here. This felt like a total rip-off of every other book out there in this new world where BDSM is part of pop culture romance novels. And there were way too many similarities to FSOG that EL James’s publisher should review this for copyright infringement (and I was not a fan of FSOG). This is a BDSM erotic novel, and it's called "A Dominant Man" so one would hope that he’d at least be a good dominant and perhaps we’d explore better issues than the ones we end up reading about here. I keep hoping that a better writer will come around and raise this genre up a bit to include substantive plots and characters I care about. Clearly, I live in a dream world.
There were so many inconsistencies in characterization, plot descriptions, questionable word choices, grammar issues (possessives, you’re/your)… even in one of the notes Damian writes her, there’s a typo! And then there’s the use of who/whom which for the most part was applied correctly, but is so formal that it’s distracting because no one speaks this way.
There’s a lot of unnecessary dialogue. And texting of stupid, boring stuff, nothing even remotely witty... which I will give FSOG a lot of credit for since both characters are witty in their writings to each other. In this case only the heroine seems remotely witty and Damian just seems boring. There’s nothing intriguing about him. And he’s not witty. Just really horny.
Apparently the SAT-vocab-word-of-the-day calendar is a cherished possession of this author… it’s like she wanted to use every new word she learned in every other paragraph in this book! The sex scenes, which should be really well-written given this kind of book, were actually confusing. I shouldn’t have to guess which way she’s facing in order to understand what’s happening in a scene. Also, how many nicknames can one person have??). There's an editor given credit here, but it made me wonder what this editor had edited out when we're left with this crap.
I usually give one star just for the effort... and clearly there was some effort made, but I wish I hadn't wasted my time. That I actually found FSOG better than this is just sad.
Okay, so here’s the deal. I absolutely loved this book! It was so hard for me to put down. Damian 4.5 Stars
Hunt (The Huntsman) has two sides to him. Hunt and Damian – if you like your man as a dominant master and also as the caring sweetheart that will make love to you. You’ve found your book. This is an epic journey between Gabrielle and Damian.
Gabrielle is a victim of sexual abuse. The one thing that can’t be changed is she never told anyone the true story. She has her best friend Chase, but even he doesn’t know what happened. Over time, she goes on living her life, but never lets a man tell her what to do, how to do it, or when to do it. That is until she meets a man at a night club and dances with him. He sparks a desire she hasn’t felt in a long time. He gives her his phone number. But Ellie knows she won’t call him.
Imagine her surprise when she walks into the boardroom of her job, and low and behold Mr. Hot – so hot – make your panties soaked Hunt is there. To literally watch her fall ass over elbow, and him to sneak a peek at her delectable body. He pursues Ellie like it’s nobody’s business. After a week Ellie can already tell she’s falling for Damian. When her past demon comes back to haunt her he’s there to catch her fall, but will she be there to catch his fall. After all a relationship is all about trust, unconditional love, and always being there.
Damian Hunt has led a different life he has past demons. He’s had his share of abuse, all in the sake of protecting his sisters. He has a dark side which he’s afraid to show Ellie, for fear she’ll leave him. Ellie wants his dark and all consuming side. Will these two ever get their happily ever after? Or will Damian’s past catch up with his future, and will Ellie stand by her man?
This entire review has been hidden because of spoilers.
Need a Christian Grey fix try out Damian Hunt, that boy is naughty, naughty. Gabrielle I loved her fire, "I think you may be right. I'm beyond ready to feel your hands on me, but even more, I want mine on you. I'm going to knock your effing socks off, Hunt, along with every other article of clothing." He licks his lips and lets out a growl." Damian isn't one for others to see what's his, "a crooked smile enhances his perfect lips. "It was shamefully wrong of me to put you in a position to be caught in such a private encounter. You do things to me, and any will to contain myself goes out the window. I enjoy public sex, as long as there aren't people in eyeshot of my girlfriend in such a vulnerable state." Gabrielle she likes to surprise her man while he's asleep, "he's naked under the sheets, highlighting every curve and contour on his able body. 'Little' Damian's up as well, greeting me a pleasant good morning." I can't wait for the next book.
I felt this book trailed too closely to fifty shades of gray. Yes it stayed really close to its genre, and the book was written extremely well. But in terms of originality it didn't come off as a new idea. The cover was cute, and the title accurate. This book had it all, great world building, story premise, and storyline flow but I couldn't rate it great because of the originality. Overall entertainment value....nothing. It was like reading fifty shades all over again. ~Wicked Reads Review Team~
damaged what? In this book both the main characters are damaged souls who want repaired but can't seem to figure out how to fix themselves. or do they? This book does leave you hanging and Lena really needs to get book two out. Ok so seriously if you picked up this book and thought that there would not be any sex to it, I bet you got a ride awakening. The sex was fun and very creative for some you might say to much but for made I say bring on some more. This book has a good sense of humor and had me sitting not only fanning myself but also snickering. It remind me of a cross between Crossfire and 50 shades, it has lots similarities in character profiles (sort of) it not a copy and that is not what I am saying for me she took bits and pieces of what I lived about the characters (reached in my mind) and melded them to create this fantastic read. I refuse to spoil it for you, if you want to know more read the book. I will say my only beef with the book is the word Culling for snuggling or pulling closer. I am an animal person for Magee culling is picking of what isn't needed to make a group thrive. The author now's I feel this way and she stands by it and in my mind when I read it I replace the word culling with snuggling, problem (not really a problem, just a distraction for me) solved.
OMG! Where do I start with this book? had me hooked from the start. Damian Hunt was a very hot and extremely intense character with a deliciously tortured dark side. Each chapter had me wanting to read more. The character of Gabrielle was definitely a match for Damian and I thought they complimented each other nicely. Amazing story and I can't wait for book 2 definitely an impressive debut by Lena Black. This book deserves the 5 stars I have given it! Don't make us wait too long for the second book - the cliffhanger it ended on had me on the edge of my seat! Ms Black I salute you :)
Really enjoyed this book and can't wait for the next one - hope there is not a long wait for book 2 - not a big fan of having to wait months for the next one from any author - cliffhanger at the end - terrific book
I am often asked my opinion about which books are like Fifty Shades. I give the usual suggestions, This Man, Crossfire, Stark Trilogy, etc. Now I can add to that list the Dominant Trilogy. So far A Dominant Man is the only volume published, but I've been assured there will be three books eventually.
This book reminded me a lot of Fifty Shades, with a little bit of Crossfire mixed in. In fact, maybe it reminded me a bit too much of Fifty Shades. I understand wanting to copy from the best, but I do wish the author had been just a bit more original with her story. Lack of originality is the main reason this review is 4 stars instead of 5 stars.
A Dominant Man features Damian Hunt as the young handsome billionaire with a tortured past and a fondness for BDSM. And Gabrielle Hyde as the beautiful young girl with her own dark secrets to be revealed. Gabrielle however is not a virginal college student. She has a best male friend (and ex-boyfriend) who is in love with her, and another ex-boyfriend who still loves her and wants her back. He paints giant embarrassing pictures of her and displays them for the whole world to see as a sign of his love for her.
The relationship between Damian and Gabrielle moves astonishingly fast, even for one of these books. Most of the novel takes place within one very busy and passionate week. The chemistry of the two main characters is hot and steamy, and I'm sure Damian will find his way into your list of book boyfriends. The sex scenes are numerous and suitably hot and dirty. Definitely a book for those 18 and over. Damian does not have a Red Room of Pain, but he does have a Dungeon of Domination, an apartment where his submissives lived, and where he kept his BDSM toys.
Damian has a wayward brother, Dante, and several sisters, one of whom, Olivia, is not at all what she seems at first glance. Olivia and Dante are one seriously twisted couple, but it does not become clear until toward the end of the book just how twisted they are.
If you are in the mood for something very much like Fifty Shades, then this book will probably fill that desire. If you want something different, then you might want to look elsewhere. I enjoyed this book, and I am looking forward to the sequel. It does end on a bit of a cliff hanger, so do be aware of that. You will have to wait for the next book to see what happens next.
I love being on twitter and having so many bloggers on my friend list and they recommend freebies. I saw this was free on Amazon and decided to give it a try.
I read a few reviews and must agree that this book started like FSOG and Crossfire. Damian Hunt meets Gabrielle (Ellie or Elle) at a night club and he must have her. She sexy, sensual and a very strong opinionated woman. She dances with Damian but she does not give him the time or day as much as she wants him, she will not give the satisfaction.
Well guess what, Damian is the new owner of the magazine company she currently works and she literally stumbles into a meeting where she sees Damian.
Lots of hot and cold moments between Damain and Ellie. In the end, they can't keep away from each other. These two have damaged pasts. Damain is very controlling but although likes some of his domineering ways, she still needs to be herself.
Damian will do everything in his power to make Gabrielle (that is what he likes calling her) his permanently. He has never felt what he does for Gabrielle with any other submissive.
Again, their pasts catches up with them. Ellie has to make a decision on whether to stay with Damian or not.
Ok, I love me some sexy times like any girl. The sex scenes were through the roof, but really it was like they were both too insatiable. I get that they have this sexual chemistry for each other, but come on now, sex in the morning, in the office, in the park, in the bathroom, etc. in one day????
Sometimes I felt the story was all over the place. I think this book could have been condensed. Also, I wanted the author to get to the root of the matter a little faster.
I have received a feed back for my rating. Hey if you gave it a 5 star rating, good for you. My rating is my opinion. I didn't say I didn't like it, I just wanted more depth. Like I previously stated, I like other readers love reading sex scenes, but when it's like an all day thing, makes me think, when the fuck do they sleep? I know this is Ms. Black's first book, so I hope that she wasn't offended by my 3 star review.
I will read book 2 because I have to know what happens.
Gabrielle Hyde is a bright and feisty woman who is also beautiful. She does not rely on her looks and while has enough money to live without working finds a job that she enjoys. Gabrielle has a dark past of her own that she works on every day to move past and on the surface it seems she does just that. Gabrielle, or Elle as she likes to be called is a complicated woman whose past is coming back to haunt her after she meets Damian.
Damian Hunt is CEO of Hunt Industries Inc, and Elle’s new boss. Damian is a complicated man who is also haunted by his past and seems to keep everyone at an arm’s length because of it except for Elle. She seems to be the one person that gets behind his shields and his is soft place to fall. Damian is a hot and sexy man who is also a Dom. He unlike so many Dom is willing to give up being a Dom in the bedroom to have the woman of his dreams.
The chemistry between Damian and Elle is scorching. From the first time, they saw each other they were both obsessed with the other. Their relationship does move at a fast pace and I do wonder about the future considering how close both of their families were and they have never meet before. The sex scenes were intense. These two are made for each other in the bedroom.
A Dominant Man is the first book in the Dominant series by Lena Black. This book sucked you in to the point I had a hard time putting it down once I started reading it. I found this book well written. The main and secondary characters were not just realistic but also engaging as well. I can’t wait until the next book comes out! Overall, this book is fabulous.
Lost interest about halfway through, but not for lack of story or anything. I suffered from a topic change and went on to read many other books before returning to finish this one. The characters Gabrielle and D both had issues with thier past. However despite that they are both drawn together by attraction, lust, incredible sex and they work to make it work. This isnt a fairy tale where everything clicks together and its all perfect. Elle actually turned D down and ran once and D had to learn to trust himself and her. That takes work.
Damian Hunt. Gabrielle seperates the two Damian is soft, sweet, gentle, caring passionant lover. Hunt is the dominant, alpha, rough, demands what he wants and takes.
Idk how hunt does it. Gabrielle flustrates me. Shes like a rocket with a quick fuse. Ohh the ex issues on both sides...so like real life.
Wow what an ending! Leaves us wanting to know, what happens now?
Ehh I'd have more to say if I read it all in one go and actually took note but alas I'm only a forgetful human so you get what you get. If I remeber correctly I got this as a freebie or near freebie awhile back so definately worth the price, and yes I can't wait to read the next book.
I hardly ever write reviews but this time I felt I had to because I'm torn with this book...It's long, like loooooooooong; I didn't really find anything to sink my teeth into until the last chapter. The conversation, it's kind of odd. I'm 33, I don't know anyone who talks the way this pair talk to each other...they've got an air of royalty about their speech patterns, a use of language that's feels way above their ages but then Ellie constantly says delish...what?! How many adults even use that word?! The use of italics to highlight her thoughts gets on my nerves too...the book is written from Ellie's POV, I'm sure there's no need for it. The referring to singers as Ms Del Ray and Miss Perry...WTF? I mean, I know I'm English but even we aren't that polite!! BUT... something pulled me in! I can't pinpoint it, maybe it's just because I'm a sucker for this type of book; maybe it's the characters themselves...honestly I can't say but I am looking forward to book 2!
First of all, I am a HUGE 50 Shades of Gray fan, but Lena Black did a similar, but different appeal to this story.
You have Gabrielle Hyde (Ellie), which most of her friends call her, she has a mind of her own and man she is opinionated. That feisty attitude finds the likes of Damian Hunt, tall dark and handsome CEO of Hunt Industries.
Both Gabrielle and Damian have a tainted, scared past that both find that love conquers all.... They have a deep love that occurs in a short time.... This scares both of them, deeply...
This book has very graphic sex scenes that will have you sucked into each and every one.
This is a great read that will have your heart rate accelerating the whole time, but I do have to warn you there is a HUGE Cliffhanger, that keeps you wanting more.....
I'm gonna keep this short because honestly this book does not warrant a full thoroughly explained review. It's 50 Shades of Grey meets The Crossfire Series meets the This Man Trilogy with a really fucked up ending. this author could not have been more of a rip off artist if she tried. Now I get it, a book inspires you. But let's be honest it should inspire you to write something new from your perspective. NOT rip off every single plot point you can get your grubby little hands on. At this point I'm only continuing this series because I have a morbid curiosity to see if a hackneyed story can be butchered any more and to see where this demented writer goes with this laughable excuse for a book.
OMG I can't say enough about this book. I loved this story and can't wait for more. It rates right up there with FSOG. I absolutely love the characters, the setting and the story line. It starts out with a college girl who meets a hot sexy man at a club, while out one night with her girl friends. It then twists and she ends up working with him and things really start to happen from there on out. After getting to know each other, dealing with crazy twist, learning each other's past bit by bit, things really turn a twisted corner. Just wow, talk about keeping my interest and falling in love with the story. Lena Black is just amazing, loving and I can't wait for more! ~~~ :)
First and foremost, this is not a 50 Shades book nor should it be compared to it. Is there Dominant/submissive over tones? Yes, but to compare it to 50 Shades of Gray is doing this book and Ms. Black a disservice. (Yes, not a fan of 50 Shades)
A Dominant Man is breathtakingly beautiful and heartbreaking at the same time. The protagonists have their own inner demons but find solace in each other’s arms. Drawn together with fierce chemistry, neither one could deny what they felt. They do anything and everything in their power to be together, but past demons, jealous people, and current circumstances are determined to tear them apart. Against insurmountable odds, they find love, passion, and happiness, until the one makes the ultimate sacrifice to save the other. There is so much hope, heartache, and love throughout the story, we cannot not help but feel each emotion they express.
When we first meet Gabrielle (Elle), she is smart, funny, confident, and on the fast track of becoming assistant editor of an internet magazine. But Elle has a dark secret, one she hides from her friends and family. A secret that helped her become the strong independent woman she is today.
One Saturday, Elle with her friends, Julie and Sloan have an evening of dining and dancing. At the club, Elle meets a gorgeous, domineering man, Damian. Although there is instant chemistry between them, Elle rebuffs his advances. He puts his phone number in her phone and asks her to call him. Julie and Sloan encourage Elle to call him but she refuses to do so. That Monday, she and her boss have a meeting with the new owner of the magazine. When Elle realizes that Damian is the new owner, she knows nothing good can come from this situation.
Damian knows he wants Elle and will do all in his power to get her. He is not a man used to people saying no to him. When Elle did not call him, he was determined to find her. As luck would have it, they meet again in the least likely place. Damian takes her to lunch to talk about the chemistry between them. However, the conversation does not go as planned. His dominant ways send Elle running away. Resolving to find a way to claim her as his own, Damian learns that he must also face his own traumatic past in order to win Elle.
As the story progresses, Elle and Damian can no longer deny what they feel for each other. Both are frightened by the swiftness their relationship is developing, the people determined to tear them apart, and their past, which stops them from making a full commitment to each other. The sexual chemistry between Elle and Damian is so real and so passionate; we see a turning point in both. Elle begins to trust Damian enough to explore her own sexuality and let him take possession of her soul. Damian, allowing Elle to see the child under his dominant façade, begins to face his tormenting past and open his heart to her.
Ms. Black does excellent work showing how Damian and Elle complement each other’s strengths and weaknesses. She creates a realistic journey of two people finding each other working through issues and creating a deep bond. The exploration of Elle’s sexuality is true to life, based on trust and communication. Not something thrown together found in most of today’s stories. Ms. Black’s un-daunting look at a true BDSM relationship might just encourage us to research and explore the lifestyle.
Even with the BDSM aspect, A Dominant Man is a well-rounded story of love, loss, and redemption. The unexpected twist, which leads one to make the ultimate sacrifice, only solidifies the meaning of true love. It leaves us to wonder if we would ever make such a sacrifice.
I had this book for awhile on my "to read" list on my kindle, saw on facebook it was currently free so I bumped it up to the top of my list and I'm so glad I did. The story follows Gabrielle Hyde and Damian hunt. Damian's a controlling person with a dark past and the CEO of Hunt industries inc. Gabrielle is a fiesty, beautiful women who also has her own dark past. There relationship is very whirlwind and the whole book is spanned over like two weeks. They fall in love almost immediately but because of both there pasts, family, ex's and even friends who are in love with them, there relationship doesn't run smoothly. This book has been compared to fifty shades and bared to you. I can see similarities in all books, but The Dominant man is its own book and deserves to be read on its own merit. I really loved this book, I loved that Gabrielle didn't take any rubbish from Damian. She stood up to him and went against what he wanted constantly. I found this refreshing. I loved that the book was a long first book, not a few hundred pages. I find with longer books you can develop the story and characters more and connect more with them. The reason I havnt given it 5* is because even though I understood it was love at first sight there relationship went from zero to 100 in pages. I felt the characters had so many separate issues that stopped them having relationships in the past, then all of a sudden that's forgotten and it's marriage, babies and moving in talks within days of meeting. I felt this should of been left a it longer to make there past history more realistic. Having said that, I loved everything else about the book and I'm dying to read the next in the series. The cliff hanger was WTF!!!
I'd defintatly say to anyone who loves fifty shades, this man, bared to you and these types of books to defiantly read this now. Even if these books are your favourite, I'd still say give it a chance because you won't be disappointed.

A Dominant Man is the first book in the Dominant series by Lena Black. Gabrielle Hyde has a past, a damaged one. She is stubborn, smart, enormously opinionated and takes no bullshit of any kind especially from a Dominate man. Damian Hunt, CEO of Hunt Industries Inc. is very hot and an extremely forceful character with a tortured dark side and likes being in control, he is A Dominate Man.
In this book you will find that both characters fall for each other very swiftly in a span of just 2 weeks. Hunt will be consumed by thoughts, words and deeds and want to do everything to please and make Elle (Gabrielle) blissfully his. He is willing to forgo his “normal” submissive rules by letting Elle sleep in his bed, stay in his house, and have a say in how they play. Will Elle want the same thing? Will she agree to his lifestyle, the possibility of being a sub, letting another man control her after her devastating past? Will she be able let her own standards down to let Hunt in? Hunt, he holds secrets. Is he willing to share them to Elle, knowing she may walk out of his life forever?
If you’re a fan of reading BSDM then this is the book to pick up! There is a cliffhanger and you’re on the edge of your seat wanting to know when book 2 will be out.
This book has very graphic sex scenes that will have you sucked into each and every one, the sex was entertaining, and imaginative.
There were some edited issues, but in no way, shape, or form did it deter from the storyline at all.
Lena Black Lena Black hits it out of the park with her debut novel, A Dominant Man. Gabrielle Hyde is a feisty, sassy, spunky woman with a bit of an attitude, a good amount of sarcasm, and a troubled past that seems to be catching up with her the minute she meets Damian Hunt.
Damian Hunt, CEO of Hunt Industries Inc., is a much damaged man who likes his control and finds himself being fully possessed by one Miss Gabrielle Hyde.
I found myself wanting to be best friends with Gabrielle and falling in love with Damian from page one. With a change from most usual romance novels, I found it refreshing that Gabrielle was a strong, sassy, and take charge kind of gal. Damian finds himself blindsided by this powerhouse of a woman who argues and fights back with him, while Gabrielle finds herself feeling innocent and vulnerable in the presence of the enigmatic Damian Hunt. The lust, action, suspense, and even love in this story was so thrilling that I could not put it down!
This is not the last we will see of Damian and Gabrielle. Their story will be continued in the next two books of the A Dominant Series, which Miss Black is writing now!

Damian Hunt, wealthy billionaire with BDSM tendencies falls for Gabrielle Hyde and his attraction is reciprocated and they soon find themselves drawn to each other and embarking on a steamy relationship. Both tortured by incidents from their pasts, Damian requires the control that his BDSM lifestyle had always given him, Gabrielle her independence, which lead to some nice conflict. I liked Gabrielle, she has sass and spunk, but also a strong desire to please Damian and help pull him out from the darkness, while letting him do the same for her. He softens his edges, finding he wants more than simple control and possession and you do hope that they will meet somewhere in the middle. Though there are a number of characters that seem to be determined to stand in their path. The sex scenes were descriptive and erotic. It lost one star from me simply for the fact that it felt a little too close to FSOG & Crossfire Trilogy in parts and it felt a little on the heavy side for the first in the series weighing in at 530 pages, I usually read most novels in one sitting, but broke this one up over a couple of nights. I also found it hard on occasion to work out who was speaking and had to return to reread sentences. I'll look forward to picking up on book two and finding out how things develop for Elle and Damian after that cliff hanger. All in all I found it a very good and enjoyable debut novel.
A Dominant Man..... WOW! If you are looking for the missing link between Christian Grey and Gideon Cross, look no further! Read this book! In this intriguing novel full of hot kinky sex, Mr. Hottie, Damian Hunt, is a tortured sensual man that enchanted me from page 1. His magnetism and strong will melts the reader away into his world. Even his name is HOT! Mr. Hunt..... Of course the female lead is just as hypnotic. Gabrielle Hyde, a strong will woman with some demons of her own, is the only woman that Mr. Hunt cannot dominate, so of course he is completely held in her trance. The chemistry between them is amazingly erotic and every encounter is more sizzling than the last. Damian allows Ellie more into a world full of erotic fantasies and she is a willing volunteer. With these two is not only about their sexual attraction, they need each other, they compliment each other. The plot thickens as outside forces try to pull them apart and let's us wonder whether their love and insatiable passion will thrive even with all the adversities. Congrats to Ms. Black, this book is definitely SEXY!
I liked the basis of this story! The cliff hanger ending not so much! Elle & Damian are both broken people with tarnished souls due to their past. Damian becomes a dominant male due to his & Elle is more of a switch. The basis of the story is their relationship whether it's the outside one or the BDSM bedroom one. I liked the basis but at times I wanted to scream at both characters and say get your crap together. The one sidedness of Damian being able to spend 6 hrs with his ex- Mistress is ok but Elle can't go to lunch with her good male friend ? I don't understand why Damian is rushing the marriage thing to fast either especially since the characters haven't really delved into their broken pasts, we see more of Elle's then Damian's. This book is a good read even though I yelled at my kindle several times. I will continue to read the series as they come out because I hope to see the characters mature and take their relationship seriously as this series continues.
Unlike others I didn’t compare this book to FSOG, everyone seems to do that now and every book is different and should be treated that way. I loved this book, I felt like I was right there living those two weeks with Elle and Damian and damn was I jealous many times that I wasn’t! For some reason I missed the fact that this was the first in a series when I read it and I was so upset that it ended and was a cliffhanger but I honestly can’t wait to read the second book.
Characters: The characters were so well written and easily likeable and I felt like I was right there with them.
Sex: oh man, so many hot steamy sexy scenes, it was H.O.T.
I could not get enough of this book. Whilst it does have similarities to a certain other book the author thanks E.L James for inspiring her. I loved both characters, they are strong and bold individuals, each with their own twisted and dark past. Their relationship is a hot and heavy fast paced affair. Demons from both of their pasts surface and we are left with a huge cliffhanger at the end.
Whilst I have read books with a similar storyline to the FSOG books I feel that this one excelled over the rest. Once you get I to the story you realise that the story holds its own, the lead female character is certainly not innocent and there is certainly no vanilla here!
I feel that this book has only just scratched the surface of the characters and we have a lot more to come. I'm personally really looking forward to the next instalment (so is my husband ;) )
I was intrigued by this story. Very similar to a series millions of people went gaga over. But, I kept plugging along with the book. I love the characters, the scenario, the heat. I can normally read a book in a day, but this one kept going and going for me. I liked it but I didn't like the way he tried to dominate her. But that is what its about. I loved the fact that what he gave her, she gave it back! I love a strong willed female character! I want to know what happened between Chase and Maya! What happened to Chase after the altercation? Did he go after Dante? How did Liam let him get away? Dante killed her monster, is she going to go to the police? She didn't before..... What happens next? I'm ready to find out. Now I am going to have to stalk this author so I can read the rest of the series.
I read allot of remarks on the similarities to FSOG in the reviews. I hate to point out that it was so popular that there is always going to be a comparison. Big deal, I still enjoyed the story but how are we to know when the sequel comes out? There's no website for the author that I could find, or Twitter or Goodreads/Amazon fan page. I must also add that the author has awesome taste in music. I have every one of the songs she referenced in the book (one was actually playing when I read the name which was eerie). Please hurry and release the next book soon Ms. Black!
