My review is not to discredit the authors or to upset them but to hopefully help them 😊

This book and the second book are really fast paced which is great as you are able to get into the thick of it straight away! However, I feel as though the plot line and description for the story is not enough and does not feel fulfilling 🙃

Maybe with some additional detail to add to the plot line as well as the story as a whole the book will have more a positive impact with the readers.

At this time book one and two are not for me due to the reasons I have stated. 🩷 Thank you again for giving me the opportunity to read and review both books 💚

First of all… your mental health matters. Kami, Theo, and Ollie are unlike anyone you will ever meet. Following their story from their childhood thru adulthood allows the reader to fully understand and appreciate the storyline. Not quite a spoiler, but all I have to say is Willow and Ayden and horrible people and deserve what they get.

My heart broke for Kami and seeing all she went thru was absolutely gut wrenching. That girl deserves all the happiness and I am here for it.

Kamila’s story broke my heart what she endured.

Oliver was sent to look out for Kami he never meant to fall in love, he hurt her and destroyed her will she ever forgive him.

Kami’s mother died her whole life was about to change, she never thought she’d fall in love with two people the hard part is losing them both.

Theodore was her step brother she was meant to be nothing to him until she wasn’t, falling in love was easy, she took his mom away, and now he has her again she will pay for all she has done.

HOLY SMOKE SHOW!!!! This books was *chef’s kiss* perfection. I fell in love with a character I wasn’t expecting too. The main FMC had her trauma and you go on the journey with her which pulls at your heart and rooting for her along the way. There is not one but TWO MMC and boy do they not disappoint. This books has many sub characters that you are gripping the book to know more and want more.

All in all this is literally on my top 5 of dark romance books. It’s everything you want and leaving you on the edge while wiggling your feet with excitement. I can’t wait for the next one! 🥰

This is book 1 of the The Shadowfell Universe. In this story, there is a secret society called The Underground. Oliver had no choice but to be a member. He was assigned to keep Kami Harlow safe. Kami is a young girl whose mother died and two years later, she gained a step-mother and step-brother, Theodore. Her father has hated her since his first wife/her mother died, so she tries to keep her distance. Kami and Theodore have a relationship but then he goes off to college. Tragedy strikes and Kami is on the run. Theodore is after her for revenge. Oliver has to keep her safe but mixed feelings get in the way. This is a dark romance so check the trigger warnings.

Unfortunately, it just wasn’t for me. The writing style isn’t my jam. It’s almost too fast paced? It just felt like a lot of details were missing. I wish this author nothing but the best though! While this wasn’t for me it doesn’t mean it’s not for others.

This book covers why choose, lies, deceit, death, kidnapping, and secrets are revealed, i would say, check the triggers because mental health matters.

This story follows Kami, Ollie, and Theo from their childhood right through to adulthood, and it's a really easy follow as well.
There are some horrible people in it, and they deserved everything they got as well.
I felt for Kami as I wanted her to be happy and not keep having to run and hide in the shadows all her life.
And the ending i was like, can that be possible? Is that even allowed? lol.

Devouring the Darkness is a dark romance that touches on areas to include murder, violence, explicit sexual content, flashbacks, physical abuse, emotional abuse, and explicit language. If you put Devouring the Darkness on a sliding scale from Haunting Adeline to Under Your Scars to understand how on-page these topics are - it would rank near the end of Haunting Adeline. The content warning labels aren’t graphically described throughout, which is perfect for the individual beginning their journey into dark romance. However, one should always keep their mental health top of mind and ensure you are comfortable with all the trigger/content warnings listed above.

Devouring the Darkness is told in first person multi-POV in the present tense for the most part, what’s great is that the POVs will flow symmetrically so that you are seeing both character’s POV of the same situation as it is happening. There are 3 MCs that are focused on and this is very much a why choose MFM.

The journey that Kami takes throughout the story is heart wrenching, but there is ultimately a HEA. Welcome to the World of Darkness - jump aboard - it’s going to be a wild ride!

Its about a girl and two boys, who have a crush on each other when they are so young at life at ages 15 and 16. One of the boys who is her stepbrother, who's mom despises her.
The boys are best friends and they both fall in love with her and she is lost between them and feels the same way too.
Her father never shows her love and let's her stepmother do as she pleases with her, causing her only pain.
Their is this underground society that one of them belongs to, and has is to endure her stepmother with everything and helps her to torment the FMC the girl who is so young, who has never known happiness, and when her stepbrother who she loves leaves for college, that's where the horror begins. The endless suffering she has to take from her stepmother and her second love. And the story begins, and years pass.

Can she escape? Can it all go away? Or will it always haunt her? Or does she has her revenge? Or happily ever after?

This story has trauma, torture, violence, underground society, love, MFM, longing, friendship and a big plot twist.

This story was such a wild ride right from the start. It had so many twist and turns that kept me wanting to know what was going to happen next and I never wanted it to end!
Kamila went through such horrible trauma and it’s broke my heart each and every time. Oliver and Theo loved her so fiercely and I loved both MMCs in completely different ways and also hated them at times. One moment you were rooting for them and then next second I was the complete opposite.
By the end of this story Kamila had faced all her darkness and overcame it so well. Once truths were revealed and there were no more secrets the HEA came so easily and it made my heart so happy 🥹🖤
I loved every second of this story and can’t wait to see more of what this author comes up with!!

This book is a wild ride. It's about a girl who's got some major family drama going on - her step-brothers are super obsessed with her, her step-mom is cruel, and there's this secret society thing going on.

The story's got a lot of twists and turns, and the characters are complex. The themes of family and identity are really well-explored.

Just a heads up - this book's got some mature content, so don't read it if you're easily triggered.

*Rec:* If you like dark romance and complicated family stuff, you'll probably dig this. Just be aware of the mature themes.

This book is the start of the darkness universe and for the 1st book I've read by this author its definitely encouraged me to want to read more. This book follows 3 MC Theo, Oliver and Kami from their teenage years right through to adulthood. It navigates their personal and romantic relationships with each other and the complexities of their families roles within the secret world of the underground. It's a fast paced why choose romance with a badass fmc! Full of lies, deceit, murder and some very well written spicy scenes.A book that can easily be devoured in one sitting because it's hard to put down. ALWAYS check your trigger warnings

Kami (Kamilla), the FMC, lost her mom and ended up with a new stepmother and stepbrother. And, life was not pleasant, nor easy. Oliver and Theo (Kami's stepbrother), the MMCs, are possessive of Kami, but try to keep their feelings towards her hidden from each other.

Man, Kami's ordeal was heartbreaking. I cried a lot, not going to lie. Sometimes I hated the MCs, and yelled at them, and other times, I was cheering them on. This book gives you a roller coaster, and by the end, you're begging for it not to end.

Lies, mystery, murder, trauma, Devouring has it. Fast-paced, and so good.

Just finished this and I’m still a little in the woah factor. That was a crazy and wild ride. The amount of emotions that you go through its crazy. These Oliver kamila and Theo have the lifetime growing up and navigating feelings and family issues and wow to evolve with them is like your living it. This is not enough stars to rate it. This was a really good book!! I gave a 4 star only because I wanted a bit more of a back story on the boys.🫠🫣

This one had me going back and forth with which MMC I loved. Started with Ollie, then not so much. It took a hot minute for me to even like Theo, but then BOOM 💥 there it was!! Ollie did redeem himself to me. The story, plot, and secrets sure keep you wondering 🤔

I love how Kami's story played out, and I'm sure there is more there. I loved her growth throughout everything she endured, and the spice and kinks 🔥 🥵

Another book down but this isn’t just any book it was an ARC!!

My god this was so good!! Highly recommend for when it’s released, it’s a dark romance with many trigger warnings but personally to me that’s just a menu for what’s coming yo next🤣

This book had me in a chokehold once I started it i didn’t want to stop reading but unfortunately I had to work so the book took a few days to read as I could only read short bursts but so worth it!!

I really enjoyed the story and plot of this book. Although I did feel it was a little rushed. Seeing how Kamila takes all of her pain and pushes to make herself better and stronger is inspiring. Theodore bid his time but then let the anger take hold and I wasn’t sure if he was gonna come back from the edge. Oliver was the most conflicted character cause he was constantly stuck between saving her and obeying the Underground. I can’t wait to read the next book!

This story covers a large span of time from childhood thru to adulthood. We follow kami, Theo & Ollie. These three are something else, and the story explores these characters and their pasts well and allows us to understand them, their actions and the story line better.

Kami goes through some trauma and hits hard. Our MMCs in this book are fab and along with the many side characters we are drawn in and looking for more. I am really looking forward to book 2.

This story is *chef kiss* multiple points of view is my favourite kind of read so I can fully become absorbed in the story. While this book is just under 200 pages I could not stop flipping the pages !! Just one more chapter until I hit the end. Check this one out

This is a very dark romance book with a why choose theme. The book evokes many emotions, but I found it very frustrating when she returns after everything that has happened without any kind of safety net in case something goes wrong.

This book has all the goodies. It has secrets and betrayals, suspense, secret societies, step sibling romance, lust and revenge, and why choose. Kami has been in love with two people, Oliver and Theo, for a long time. Can she choose? Maybe she won't have to. This is an MFM story with very delicious spicy scenes. It's a shorter novel, so it is very fast paced, and the flow of the plot keeps moving. It's definitely a page turner, a dark romance that's told in 3 different pov. Highly recommend this if you love these tropes.

Short, dark, and oh so spicy 🥵

With 3 POVs, a secret society, betrayals, and love; Devouring the Darkness is a perfect beginning to this trilogy.

Kami meets the LOVES of her life quite young. As she grows up the 2 boys she’s grown to love, each in their own way, she realizes she’ll never be able to choose between them. As Oliver pushes her away due to his position in the secret world with his father, Kami begins to fall into the arms of Theo. When Theo is off to college things take the darkest turn imaginable for Kami. And now Kami must run, and never look back. But Kami has her own secret. Can she keep it to herself forever? Or is she willing to risk it all for one more chance at love?

This story was FULL of darkness. I had a hard time with some of the *scenes* when they were younger, but it was easy to past that as this story is very fast paced. I loved growing up with our MCs, as we meet them in their early teen years. The trauma Kami goes through is unreal. Reading her chapters tore me up. But I got the ending I so badly needed 🥹
I RRRREALLLY wanted to know more about The Underground, but that’s okay. Maybe book 2 with give me more 👀
