Ford Buzzelli is completely off-limits, at least that’s what I keep telling myself. The lines we set became fuzzy when we explored the sexual tension between us, only now he’s leaving for the MLB.
I’ve convinced myself that I will only be in the way of him living out his dreams, and I refuse to be that person.
In order for him to succeed, I need to move on and forget about Ford, even if it means breaking my own heart in the process.
She’s hard to resist.
She’s the girl I fantasize about even though I know I shouldn’t. Wren is everything I have ever wanted.
I let her go once and she moved on. I refuse to give up on the fact that we are endgame. My dreams of being in the MLB are nothing if I don’t have her by my side. Now if only I could prove to her that we are better together. There is only one thing standing in my way… him.
Will they find their way to each other in the end, or will things remain Unspoken…
So I love sports romance novels but I haven’t read many baseball romance books and I’m glad I stumbled upon this one. I would wear Ford Buzzelli’s jersey ANYDAY!! This man had my whole heart 💖.
I really enjoyed this whole story. Any book that makes me tear up/cry immediately gets 5 ⭐️ in my journal. And this story made me tear up throughout the entire book. From them falling in love with each other at a young age, to the trauma that Wren had to endure, to their HEA. I’m not usually a fan of friends to lovers but this book definitely changed my perspective on the trope.
I also loved the support of everyone in this book. Connor’s support for Ford. And Mallory’s support of Wren. It really was a beautiful found family and it made me have all of the feels.
Let’s not forget the spice. Dear Lord this MAN!! He read her romance novels and I swear men take note.. if your lady reads romance novels, READ THEM!! You might learn a thing or two 😉 he knew what he was doing. 🥵The filthy mouth on this man was 👩🏼🍳💋 and I’m just wondering if I need to find me a baseball man now 😉
This was such a great first book for Kj Mags and I honestly can’t wait to see where she goes from here. I’m definitely a fan and will continue to read her books and support them in anyway I can. 🫶🏻
Want a few of my favorite quotes? 😉
“You will never wear another man’s jersey, Wren, so get that thought out of that pretty little head of yours. My name will be the only name you wear across your back,”-Ford Buzzelli 💖
““Get on the bed, hands and knees. I’m fucking you from behind so I can see my name sprawled across your back,””- Ford Buzzelli 💖
I was lucky enough to BETA read this wonderful debut novel.
I had the best time reading it, even though there is a part in here that had me tearing up. I was NOT expecting it at all when first diving into this book. With that being said, PLEASE check trigger warnings.
I love Ford had for Wren even during their time apart was beautiful. This book is very much "it's always been you" with a splash of secret tattoo! These microtropes together are perfect.
Also, the spice be spicin' in this book, I was drooling over the words that were coming out of Ford's mouth. Even with a filthy mouth this man is an absolute simp for Wren and would do anything for her to make her happy, even if it means having her move in with him while she recovers from her most recent trauma.
I love this couple dearly, and I cannot wait to see where the rest of this series goes!
Unspoken is the debut novel by KJ Mags and she came out swinging for a homerun with this book. Emotional, friends to lovers with a best friends sister, MLB, pining to a HEA.
TW: Emotional abuse, physical & mental abuse, on page domestic abuse, anxiety, panic attacks, PTSD, explicit sex scenes.
Ford Buzzelli and Wren Yearwood are best friends with each others siblings. All four are extremely close, their parents are best friends and they live across the street from each other.
Ford gave Wren her first kiss and they have fooled around for years since. But it's been kept secret and they think a relationship is forbidden between them.
Wren wants Ford to take her V card before she graduates college and he leaves to play professional baseball for the Brooklyn Phantoms.
The experience ruins them both and they develop feelings for each other but Wren breaks both their hearts when she ends their situationship.
Wren believes Ford has moved on and she does the same and is swept off her feet by another baseball player.
Wren moves to Philly with her man then she pushes everyone away. Family and friends start to see things that concern them but she denies it all until he nearly kills her.
Ford is there for her and she moves in with him to heal physically and mentally. Will they remain only friends and their feelings stay UNSPOKEN?
I am solidly in my baseball romance era right now, so when I heard that there was a brand new author writing a baseball romance that featured a brother's best friend/best friend's brother situation, and it's always been you vibes, I was all, SIGN ME RIGHT UP IMMEDIATELY. And Unspoken did not disappoint for one single second.
Every word of Ford and Wren's story was perfect. From their teenage friends with benefits agreement (except not really because, can we say MUTUAL PINING) to the years they spent apart just wishing to be together, to their reunion as adults, there is nothing about this book I didn't love.
Ford is an absolute golden retreiver of a guy. All he wants in life is to play baseball, and to love the woman of his dreams, and he will stop at nothing to have her. His fierce protective vibes are everything, and the way that he just sticks with Wren no matter what - keeping her safe and making sure she knows that she's loved - had me all up in my feels. This love story is an absolute dream, and I can't wait for what comes next in this series.
This book took me for a ride! Wren & Ford were childhood FWB who grew apart later in life. Wren has gone through so much while apart from Ford. The things she was experiencing had my heart racing as I was yelling at my book, like "come on, Wren!?" The moment Ford was finally back in Wrens life, I could breathe. He is written so beautifully and is an absolute dream of a man! Not only is he just a wonderful character in general, but he's got a fabulously dirty mouth! I loved the dual POV. Sometimes their point of views felt like memories rather than the story, and that was really neat. Also, the mental health representation was spot on and wonderful. Overall just really great book!
Please check the trigger warnings, there are some heavy topics in here. Mental health is important 💕
Dedication: To my readers- I hope you find someone who will never let their love for you be UNSPOKEN.

I am obsessed with these two. Wren and Ford have a relationship based in friendship, communication, and encouragement. They truly love each other and want each other to achieve their dreams. Their love is swoony and emotional. Ford is THE book boyfriend of book boyfriends. This book is filled with swoony tender moments, dirty mouth spice, and hilarious hijinks from the Phantastic Four. This book has me in a chokehold. I cannot wait for book 2.
See you at the Phantoms game.
I received an ARC copy and wanted to leave an honest review.
This was a very good book. I was hooked from the beginning. And there is spice near the beginning also! This story is about Wren and Ford. Ford is a prospective Major League Baseball player who is about to be drafted and move to a new city. He knows he probably shouldn't start a secret relationship with his best friend's sister, Wren. But when she asks him to take her virginia, he can't help himself because they've been fooling around a while but never went all the way yet. But will they be able to withstand his moving to another state after he gets drafted , and she has one more year of college to complete? The chemistry between Ford and Wren was so sweet but also electric at the same time. It broke my heart when she sacrificed her feelings to give him what she thought he needed. There was so much miscommunication and unspoken feelings that caused a lot of hurt. But the happily ever after was well worth the journey. This was my first book by this author, I look forward to reading more of her books about these gorgeous baseball players.
Being in my baseball romance era is a god send! Ughhh Ford and Wren are straight up couple goals! I absolutely love a “it was always you” book. I ate this up. From best friends to lovers😍 The fact that everyone around them knew they were meant for each other before they did is so cute! No matter how hard they tried they couldn’t stay away. They craved each other from their first kiss and just didn’t want to admit it. True love will always prevail. Ford is such an amazing guy, always taking care of Wren even after she broke his heart. His love only grew deeper the longer they were apart! This book is easily 5 stars💛💛
First book by KJ OMG she definitely didn’t disappoint! I couldn’t get enough of this book. I devoured it that is how good this book is. I love Wren and Ford! I’m definitely in my sports era! Your emotions will be all over the place. I know mine was! Wren and Ford have always had a thing for each other and kept it a secret until they go their separate ways they said it was for the best but was it?? Their journey you will see the ups and downs. You will see trauma and the author does a really job on this topic. And if you love a man with a dirty mouth then you will love this book!! I cannot wait until book two to come out!!
A baseball romance that you’re definitely going to want to read. A second chance, friends to lovers with the greatest characters around… except you Gavin. You’re not included. Check out the content warnings before diving in because it could get a bit intense.
Okay, but like for real, where is a Ford-like man irl? What a freaking book boyfriend. Caring, sweet, attractive, dominant, touch her and face the consequences, and freaking overall green flag!
This was just an enjoyable read and I cannot wait to see what’s next for us in the series with the other Brooklyn Phantoms boys.
Read if you like: ⚾️ baseball romance 📚 second chance ⚾️ friends to lovers 📚 best friend’s brother ⚾️ brother’s best friend 📚 forced proximity ⚾️ dual pov 📚 it’s always been you 🥲❤️
Something about that first love that always sticks with you. For Wren, it’s always secretly been her brother’s best friend or her best friend’s brother. It’s always been Ford Buzzeli. The sexiest golden retriever that is heading straight for centerfield in MLB.
Wren asked Ford to be her first kiss. Then that led to them getting to second and third base. Then the summer before her last year of college, she was tequila drunk and asked him if they could make it to home base before her senior year of college. (Baseball puns intended.) When Ford and Wren agree to be Friends with Benefits for the summer, feelings become stronger and lines are crossed.
Wren didn’t want to hold Ford back after he’s drafted in NYC for the MLB. With Wren back at college and Ford in the big leagues, Wren tried to find someone to help her move on from Ford Buzzelli. Falling head over heels for another baseball player at college, Wren finds herself distancing herself from the things she loves most. Her best friends, her brother, her parents, romance books, and her confidence.
When the red flags are ignored for too long. Things escalate, and Wren is finding herself more broken mentally and physically than she began with. Luckily, Wren has Ford Buzzelli and a support system that is there to and help her start over to put the pieces back together.
Totally read this in one sitting, I was so gripped and was routing for Ford the whole time.
KJ Mags you smashed this in every way, plot and spice. What more could you want? I think the domestic abuse storyline within this was handled so well, really showing the way the changes started to happen and her denials over it all.
I’m glad that Wren and Ford get their happy ending.
Soo can’t wait to see who is next in the series because all of the characters are so loveable!
Brother’s best friend trope done very well! Ford and wren were always close since she is best friend with his little sister as well. That being said the main characters have been close themselves and always found time for the two of them to bond on a much deeper level. They explore a sexual relationship but Wren breaks it off because she wants them to have a fair chance at life.
They go years without seeing each other but when Wren gets herself in a sticky situation with her new man, Ford has no choice but to step in to help. I was shocked by the events that happened, though Ford stepping up to take care of Wren was everything.
Once they are able to rekindle their love, it is clear that they are meant to be. They are so expressive with each other.
Great debut novel! A classic friends to lovers sports romance with a great story. I always get frustrated when it’s Dual POV and so much heartbreak can be avoided if they would just speak what they feel. I really felt for Wren and her struggles and I completely fell in love with the golden retriever that is Ford Buzzelli. He always knew exactly what Wren needed even before she did. The way this carried over to the bedroom and he turns into a complete alpha was just amazing! Good balance of story and spice.
First I would like to say a big thank you to KJ for letting me be apart of this ARC Team!
Rate: 5/5⭐️ Spice: 2.5/5🌶️
What to expect when reading Unspoken; -Friends x Lovers -Brothers Best friend -Second Chance -Forced Proximity -Baseball
What a rollercoaster! My emotions were all over the place lol but in a good way!
Wren & Ford have always had a thing for each other and in secret that’s where they kept things. Until they go their separate ways “for the best”, but is it really! This journey takes you on the push and pull of their love, heartbreak, healing but don’t worry you get a happily ever after.
I just wanted to shake and hug Wren the entire book! I loved their chemistry and Fords dirty mouth! The dynamic and character growth was spot on! I loved their moms😅 and friend group, hopefully we get to see more of them!
Fav Line: “F*ck this playing around sh*t”
Make sure you get the book when it releases Sept. 24th💜 #bookstagram #romance #review
Unspoken was a super easy read, which I struggled to put down. The two main characters, Wren and Ford, were the sweetest couple, and Ford is a dream book boyfriend.
It's a great story. You are routing for the couple to give each other a second chance and have their HEA. The spicy is great. The small details like both the FMC and the MMC having secret tattoos for one another just add to the story. I live best friends, brother trope, and this book does it incredibly well.
Can't wait to see where the series goes and who the other books will be about.
I couldn’t put this book down! I loved watching how Wren and Ford even though they grew up together were exploring new territory in their relationship. It was sad to see that they split for a while but amazing watching how they came back together. I loved how Ford did everything he could to support Wren after she went through a very rough patch.
“Ever since our first kiss I’ve been a goner for you. I can’t lose you, Wren, you are my everything?”
I absolutely loved this book and can’t wait to see more by this author.
First off I absolutely love baseball and getting to read book that's filled with baseball was super fun. I devoured this book. The characters were believable and the story addressed real life struggles. The spice was right out of the gate but not overdone and I was here for that. Overall such a good, fun read and I can not wait to read more by KJ.
This is the first book for KJ Mags and she hit it out of the park! I’m securely in my sports spicy romance era, and baseball is in my top three. Ford is 100% boyfriend material and I’m hoping to see more of him and Wren in the other books. I loved that we got to meet some other guys from the team and you fall in love with them like you do Ford and Wren.
Ford makes it to the MLB but has only ever had eyes for one girl. Wren is a spicy book loving girl who has only ever truly loved Ford. They have to go through somethings and it’s definitely a rollercoaster of emotions, but one thing is consistent, you are always rooting for Ford and Wren. I highly suggest taking a chance on this book and author, you won’t regret it.
This is an amazing debut from KJ Mags, the brothers best friend/best friend's brother, Ford is the newest addition to my collection of book boyfriends.
“Get on your hands and knees and crawl to me, Little Bird." Yes please.
You know we're waiting for the Jace book to come out next... that loveable buffoon can do some body shots off me anytime.
OMGS! Unspoken is a phenomenal book! Ford and Wren have a sexual tension that has them drone to each! Enjoyed reading! Highly Recommend! A page turner!
What a beautiful story 🥰 Ford and Wren you have my heart forever.
The plot and spice were perfection, and the author dealt so well with the trauma that Wren went through (not caused by Ford).
Ford you have such a dirty mouth 🥵 but also a heart of gold. We are talking full on golden retriever energy, that man is just 🤩
Favourite Quotes 💭
“I’m not looking at other girls, Wren, I’m looking at you”
But in this life, we can’t be something and that fucking hurts.
“It’s supposed to be us Wren, it was always supposed to be us”
I know what she looks like. I know what she tastes like. I know what she feels like. And I don’t think I will ever get enough of her.
You could tell me my baseball career would be ever tomorrow and I know that I would be okay if I had her in my life.
“Tell me you want this birdie, tell me you want me, that you want us. And I promise you I will give you everything you have ever craved and wanted. Let me be yours fully, and I’ll make you mine. Just say the fucking words Wren.”

✨ I received this arc in exchange for honest review ✨
“Unspoken” by KJ Mags is an intense and gripping novel that takes readers on an emotional rollercoaster. From the very first chapter, I was drawn into a world where secrets, passion, and pain collide, creating a story that is as emotionally charged as it is unpredictable.
The story revolves around Wren and Ford, whose lives are entangled in a web of unspoken truths and deeply buried emotions. As the past slowly unravels, Wren and Ford are forced to confront not only the people who have shared their lives, but also the darkest corners of their own souls. With each chapter, the stakes get higher, leading to a dramatic, heart-wrenching conclusion that leaves readers reflecting long after the book is closed.
One of the standout elements of “Unspoken” is the depth of the characters. Each one feels raw and real, shaped by their experiences, their mistakes, and their deepest desires. KJ Mags doesn’t hold back when it comes to exploring their flaws, and this makes them all the more relatable. The chemistry between the characters is palpable, and the tension builds with every interaction. It’s a story about secrets, but also about the ways people cope with pain and loss, and how love —despite its power— can sometimes complicate things further.
This books is *definitely on the spicier side,* so for those who enjoy steamy romance, “Unspoken” delivers in full. The passion between the characters is intense, and the intimate scenes are written with a lot of detail. That said, the spice level is high and explicit, so if you’re not into graphic content, this might not be the book for you. The way KJ Mags handles both the physical and emotional connection between the characters is bold, but it might be too much for readers who prefer milder romance.
In addition to its steamy romance, the book also contains *graphic and intense moments* that deal with heavy emotional themes. Some scenes are raw and may be difficult for sensitive readers, especially those who are uncomfortable with themes of trauma or intense emotional conflict. Mags doesn’t shy away from the darker aspects of the characters’ lives, so it’s important to be prepared for a story that tackles some intense, emotional subject matter.
The story brilliantly explores the impact of keeping things hidden, not just from others, but from oneself. There are heavy themes of redemption, healing, and learning to move forward while coming to terms with the past. The author’s exploration of emotional vulnerability, trust, and forgiveness was one of the most powerful aspects of the book for me. It adds layers of depth that make the characters’ journeys feel real and relatable.
“Unspoken” is a powerful, steamy, and emotionally charged novel that will appeal to fans of romance and drama who aren’t afraid of raw, intense content. KJ Mags does a fantastic job of balancing the sensual with the emotional, creating a story that is both passionate and poignant. However, readers who prefer lighter romances or those uncomfortable with explicit scenes should approach with caution.
If you love a story where love and passion are intertwined with deep emotional scars and secrets, then “Unspoken” is definitely for you.
Childhood best friends, Forbidden Brothers best friend, Best friends brother Second chance romance, Forced proximity Golden Retriever boyfriend, Baseball, Mental health representation, Praise kink 🥵 First, can we talk about the fact that we finally have a great start to a baseball series in the romance world There is always something about that first love that just seems so unforgettable. Wren and Ford are no strangers to this concept. The moment that Ford Buzelli's lips landed on Wren's, he was a goner! From then on they took all the chances possible to sneak away for 2nd and 3rd base not quite hitting that home run until one night Wren being a little tequila tipsy comes to Buzzelli with a proposition for them to take that final pass through home plate before he leaves for MLB .Of course, with Ford being the gentleman that he is, he tells her to come back to him when she is sober. At the next meet up they hit a home run. This is just supposed to be a FWB thing until they both head off on the next chapter of their lives until their secret feelings towards one another become more obvious. One is planning on making things more serious while the other is content with their original arangement. Buzelli gets the offer of a lifetime from The New York Phantoms! With broken hearts, they both wish each other goodbye. Wren starts her college journey, where she finds herself completely infatuated with another baseball player. She is starting to move on from Buzzelli and completely misses the many red flags that her new love interest has set before her. Until One night, she finds herself at the possessive and extremely violent hands of the person that she thought loved her. Finding herself once again broken in every sense of the word and lost she once again leans on her childhood best friend Buzzelli and the love and support of her friends and family. Let me tell you that the mouth of this boy had my toes curling and my hand covering my mouth too many times to count 🙈 The angst between these two is incredible!! The banter is top-tier! If you are finding yourself in need of a story with the ultimate golden retriever then this is the book you are looking for! Ford Buzzelli pitched his way into my heart with every single word out of his mouth, and he will forever live rent-free in my head Congratulations on your Debut series You hit it out of the park with this one 😉! Happy Release Day!! ❤️❤️
This was baseball romance with brother’s best friend and best friend’s brother since in a twist of events our MMC just happens to be both of those things! It was second chance, friends to friends with benefits to lovers with “it’s only been you” and plenty of spice. It also deals with some possibly triggering topics so ⚠️check your TWs⚠️
First of all thank you to KJ Mags for letting me read this!
Now for the review. This story has a swooning male character, Ford. Dam he is kinda the ultimate loving boyfriend. Faithful, protective and so hot!
Wren is a sweetheart who just wants to be loved and unfortunately falls for an absolute douche. F…. Gavin! Luckily Ford, who is her best friend’s brother and her brother’s best friend, never lets her go completely.
Ford and Wren are the endgame and I knew it from the beginning. There was simply no doubt in my mind! The spice in this book is just 🤌🏻.
The story took me on an emotional roller coaster and is just an intense novel. From the first chapter I was hooked. The sneaking around, the secrets and the steaming hot chemistry between the two characters 🔥.
In total I really liked this novel and I will definitely be reading the next one. Again thank you ❤️
I’m a huge baseball fan, so I wanted to love this so badly. Honestly, I think I ruined this by at least 1-1.5 stars all on my own because of my high expectations and feeling underwhelmed by it. I’m still glad I read it, but it just made it kind of hard to get through after that. I will still likely read the remainder of the series once they are released, though, as a second chance type of thing.
I loved the emotional vulnerability shown throughout the story. It definitely made it feel like these were people you know in real life. Also, the mutual pining between Ford and Wren will tug at your heartstrings, especially when concerns about Gavin start coming to light.
There are some heavier themes, so please check your trigger warnings!
🏟️ baseball romance ⚾️ best friend’s brother 🏟️ brother’s best friend ⚾️ friends to lovers 🏟️ it’s always been you ⚾️ forced proximity
This. Book. Is. Absolutely. Incredible!!! I could not put it down. When I finished I shook my Kindle to see if there was more because I didn’t want the story to end. I lovedddd these characters!!! And the writing is amazing!
I love Ford and Wren sooo much. From their sneaking around to their reunion back to each other. I had heart eyes the entire time.
The spice in the book had me blushing. It was sooooo hot and spicy!!! Ford is so head over heels for Wren. She lets him go and stuff goes down. But Ford never gives up on Wren! And Wren is a fighter and had me wanting to reach in the book and hug and help her!!
I’m in my baseball era so this was absolutely the cure to fix it!!! I highly recommend this if you love Brother’s Best Friend or Best Friend’s Brother! Baseball or Sports Romance! An amazing redemption story. And lots of spice!!! You must read this, soooo good!
Run don’t walk to home base and read this book you won’t regret it!
I forgot how much I love baseball romance but Unspoken reminded me that I need to read more baseball romance. This is KJ’s debut book and she knocked it out of the park ⚾️ and I cannot wait to follow all of her romance, especially this series!
Wren and Ford have known each other for years, Wren is Ford’s sister’s best friend, while Ford is Wren’s brother’s best friend. It started as a crush that moved to friends with benefits, that then changed to them not speaking for years. After the trauma that Wren went through Ford was right there by her side and supported her and made her feel like she wasn’t broken 💜.
Ford was the perfect book boyfriend, he was possessive without having red flags, he read her favorite smutty books to know what he was up against, and loved her with his whole heart 💜. The mouthy on this man 🥵, him in the bedroom 🥵 I would take him any day of the week. I would gladly wear his jersey to any of his games to support this man.
Wren was a girl after every single one of our smutty readers’ hearts and I was here for every minute of it. She may have been through a trauma that would have broken anyone but she did not let that happen and came back stronger 💜.
Wren and Ford’s love story was beautiful and messy. Any book that makes me cry, giggle, and kick my feet in glee is an automatic 5 ⭐️!
If you love, brother best friend, best friend brothers, baseball romance, second chance, and some spicy then this book is for you!
Please check TW before you read!
Thank you KJ Mags for the opportunity to read this ARC and be on your street team!
