From the moment I became the head of my family, hands stained with my father's blood, I knew my path was set—a marriage arranged for power, not love. But that all changed the night I met Maeve Kavanaugh. One glance and I was lost. She’s everything I never knew I wanted, yet she’s also the one woman I can’t have. My duty to my family should come first, but every moment I’m near her, I crave the impossible—a life where I can follow my heart instead of my obligations. Maeve is my greatest temptation, and in our world, temptation can be fatal.
Maeve
Raphael Neretti was never meant to be my forever. He was supposed to be a brief escape, a fiery passion in the midst of chaos. But the man who saw beyond my broken pieces became my lifeline, and now I’m caught in a web of love and danger that threatens to destroy us both. I ran from the mafia’s darkness knowing about his arranged marriage, but when Rafe found me, I couldn’t resist the pull between us. Now, as shadows close in, I realize our love might be the most dangerous secret of all.
In this explosive tale of passion and power, love is a dangerous game—and only the strongest will survive.

Maeve Kavanaugh is the only sister, surrounded by protective brothers in an Irish mafia family. She may be protected and treated like a princess now, but her biggest trauma was caused by her father and is something she is still working to process and deal with. As a result, she keeps herself separate, living in Dublin while going to school, working with a therapist to process her trauma. She is so strong, but also sheltered in a way that meant she wasn’t always ready for the realities of the life of a mafia princess.
Raphael Neretti is the head of his Sicilian family after killing his father. The family’s position is precarious because of the new leadership, and Rafe knows he must marry to protect the family’s standing through an arranged marriage. Though they shouldn’t form anything deeper than the friendship that comes from being connected through the marriage of their siblings, there is a pull between them that neither can ignore. Maeve feels safe around Rafe in a way she hasn’t felt around anyone outside of her family in some time, and all of Rafe’s protective instincts are triggered when it comes to Maeve.
I loved watching these two fall in love. Rafe was a perfect gentleman in all the ways he had never felt compelled to be before. They had to keep things secret, but with as closely as her brothers watched her and as nosy as his brothers were, it was bound to be revealed at some point. I couldn’t help feeling the heartbreak as they realized they had some pretty insurmountable obstacles to their happiness.
The timeline for this book overlapped the first two books quite a bit, but seeing some major events from Rafe and Maeve’s perspective gave each scene a new layer. Readers of the series will already know some of the big events, as they happened as part of the other stories, but now we get the why of what was happening in Rafe and Maeve’s world.
This is my first book by Katie Ashley and I'll definitely be going back and reading more that's for sure.
This is book 3 in The Irish Rogues series I haven't read the other 2 but I don't think I missed anything to be honest as the past characters did pop up in this story but I didn't think I felt like I was missing anything from the story and that's down to Katie and her writing. Fix You follows Maeve and Raphael.....this really is a story of love when you least expect it and one of healing. Maeve has been through it, bless her heart but is Raphael the one to heal it? This is a beautiful love story that brings together two people from two different mafia families.
She's an Irish Mafia princess trying to break free of her life and her brute of a father, and he's a Sicilian Mafia heir trying to prove that he can take care of his family while dealing with enemies. When these two come together fireworks go off.....they aren't supposed to be for each other but Raphael can't quite keep away from the red haired Irish beauty that's caught his eye and his heart!!! Maeve has been broken to the point she's seen as damaged goods by the Irish Mafia because of what happened to her at the hands of her father.
Can these two figure out how they feel about each other? Is it love or lust? This is an emotional story that had me crying and just wanting Maeve to have her happy ending and to be loved. This does have some triggers so please do check them out....these include.. Torture, Sexual Assault of FMC (on page), PTSD and Death of a pet plus many more. Honestly I couldn't put this down and I'll definitely be reading more from Katie.
The third instalment in the Irish Rogues series and Fix You features Kavanagh clan princess Maeve who was a bit a tragic figure. To escape a forced marriage at the hands of her brutal father she preparing to run but was caught by her father and punished in the most heinous way possible at the hands of her intended husband. Her brothers may have killed the men involved but they couldn’t mend Maeve and since that night, she’d suffered from PTSD unable to stand any man near her other than her brothers. Until she met Raphael, the new capo of the Neretti mob and discovered a man she didn't want to run from.
This was such a beautiful and emotional romance between two characters torn between duty and love. Rafe had never intended to fall for anyone, knowing an arranged marriage was necessary to strengthen his family, but he couldn't keep away from Maeve. Theirs was only supposed to have been a fling as he helped her through her trauma, but it quickly became more. However, his prospective father-in-law wasn't about to let Rafe go so easily no matter what he had to do. With an engaging plot line and a fantastic flow to the writing, Fix You had me absorbed from the opening chapters and with their story running concurrent to the earlier books in this series it was great seeing previous scenes from the perspective of other characters. The characters were well-rounded, and I loved Rafe and Maeve together; Maeve was so vulnerable but also so strong to have endured everything she had while Rafe was so caring, letting her set the pace, rebuilding her confidence. With a strong cast of intriguing secondary characters, I can't wait to find out if the next one to fall is a Neretti or a Kavanagh.
I jumped into this one without reading any reviews first… just because I loved the first two books so much!!
The first chapter was really hard but you have the warning at the beginning so be mindful is SA is not something you want to read about.
But… how much I hated the second chapter!! I hate, and really hate, when the MMC is a manwhore and then his nature changed drastically as soon as he sees the MFC!! I just don’t get it, then it gives me anxiety because I think he is going to slip again and go back to his bad habits!! So yes second chapter was bad!!
After Callum & Caterina celebration there is a sentence saying that Rachel went back to “the night life and its shallow habit” so it’s not explicit if there is cheating or not but I consider the book rather safe from OW drama/cheating. Generally I was not a fan of Raphael but loved Maeve a lot… honestly she fixed herself!!!
❌no virgin heroine Arranged mariage but not with the FMC (oh the stress!!) ❌manwh0re/shy heroine ❌🍇 please check TW ✅instalust ✅nice banter ✅ kinky stuff and s3x club ✅better to read books in order - at some point I almost thought about suggesting reading book 1 first, then this one and finally book 2… I do love when books follow the same timeline and overlap!!!
Overall I loved this book but Poison & Wine remains my fav so far
Maeve and Raphael is book 3 in The Irish Rogues series and is a story about healing if you ask me. Maeve has been through hell and is tired of people looking at her for what she's been through. This is a beautiful love story that unites 2 unique characters.
Tropes: - Mafia romance - Age Gap (7-8 years) - Who hurt you? - FMC Traumatic Past - Forbidden romance

Fix You by Katie Ashley is book three of her Irish Rogues series. These emotional stories are based around arranged marriages and this one deals with some very serious issues so please read the trigger warnings. This time we have Maeve, the Irish Mafia princess and sister of the Kavanagh brothers and Catalina’s oldest brother Raphael ‘Rafe’ Neretti. The timeline of this book runs concurrently with the other two books so you get a crossover of the stories. I really enjoyed the extra bits we learnt about the families and the other couples.
We hear her heart wrenching account of what happened the night she tried to escape her arranged marriage. Maeve fills in the gaps about the trauma she endured and the emotional torture she experienced with Kellan and Eamon. All she wants now is to be a normal girl and eventually fall in love.
Rafe is the heir to his family’s Mafia business. His father is ruthless and arranges for him to marry Andrea Caruso to make the Neretti empire stronger. He is bound by duty, even though he doesn’t want to marry her.
When Maeve’s brother kidnaps Rafe’s sister it brings the couple into contact with each other. After meeting him a few times she is attracted to him. They get on well and come alive around each other. She shows such strength and determination to overcome her horrendous assault. She hates to be seen as broken and damaged so likes that he doesn’t know what she’s been through.
Rafe is taken by her but knows she is off-limits and there would be repercussions due to the alliance between the two families. He sees the pain and sadness in her eyes and becomes very protective of her. Caterina warns him off as he’s a player and Maeve doesn’t need someone like him. When they kiss she reacts badly and this makes him determined to help her heal.
She’s the only woman he’s ever wanted but circumstances mean he can’t have her - especially with his father causing problems. He helps her battle the trauma of her the past and surprisingly is the only man she can stand to touch her. He is so patient, respectful and understanding, always putting her first and watching out for anything that may trigger her but can they continue to sneak around.
She is devastated by some news and when everything they want is threatened, can their love survive? Can they forget their feelings for each other and do the right thing to save the lives of the people they love. Broken alliances cause war and problems so will they end up fixing each other or starting a Mafia war?
Loved her birthday surprise for him and how she helped him deal with the aftermath of Caterina’s abduction. She brings out the good in Rafe and he heals her. After all she’d been through, he brings her so much happiness. Great ending with a HEA for this couple. Hopefully we will get more from these two families.
An Irish Mafia Princess who only wanted to escape her life and the trauma forced on her by her evil father and his cronies. She will never escape that night and what it did to her and her brothers, but she is trying to make a new life for herself. She is tired of being seen as broken Maeve and is afraid she will never find someone to love her and look past it.
A Sicilian Mafia heir trying to prove himself and take care of his family while dealing with family business and enemies. He is not looking for love. He is already promised as his family duty. And there's a lot riding on their new alliance after his sister married Maeve's brother.
They are not supposed to fraternize despite the new family ties and alliance, but something about the damaged yet strong Irish beauty brings out all of the protective instincts and attracts Rafe like no other. But she has overprotective brothers and he has nosy ones. And there are plenty of reasons that they do not make sense.
But he is attuned to her and appreciates everything about her strong spirit and fire. And longs to comfort and protect her, and help her begin healing. She challenges him and it keeps him interested and enamored. It is forbidden and secret, and even the shortest amount of time together is still playing with fire.
They are from two strong mafia families. There are rules, obligations, and honor. Maeve has been broken by this life and is trying to find her strength and take back control of her life. He is trying to maintain control over the family and his own feelings while also dealing with obligations. Their families are already tied and it only complicates matters. But sometimes something that should be all wrong just feels right.
And these two will have to figure out what they can live with and what they can live without. And what is more important honor and duty or love and passion? Neither choice is a safe one and every choice could have dire consequences.
This is an emotional, suspenseful, passionate, forbidden, brother-in-laws' little sister, mafia romance with two characters shaped by trauma and growing up in the violent patriarchal underworld. It is about finding hope and healing when they least expect it with the person they should not. This timeline lines up with events happening in the first two books now from Maeve and Rafe's points of view and it brings back all of the previous characters. I am looking forward to more in this series.
4.25stars- FIX YOU is the third instalment in Katie Ashley’s contemporary, adult THE IRISH ROGUES dark, erotic, Mafia romance series. This is Irish Mafia princess Maeve Kavanaugh, and Italian Mafia capo and businessman Raphael ‘Rafe’ Neretti’s story line. FIX YOU can be read as a stand alone without any difficulty, but I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion. Some of the events of FIX YOU cross over with, and run parallel to the events of book one POISON and WINE where our couple are first introduced to one another.
NOTE: Due to the nature of the story line premise there WILL BE triggers for more sensitive readers.
Told from dual first person perspectives (Maeve and Rafe) FIX YOU follows the building but forbidden relationship between Irish Mafia princess Maeve Kavanaugh, and Italian Mafia capo Raphael ‘Rafe’ Neretti’. One year earlier Maeve Kavanaugh was sold and betrayed by her father, forced to marry a violent man but her freedom would come at a cost. Fast forward to present day, Maeve, a shell of her former self, must make an appearance at her brother Callum’s wedding to Italian Mafia princess Caterina Neretti, where she will meet the man with whom she will fall in love but Raphael Neretti has been contracted in marriage to someone else, and our heroine is about to experience freedom for the very first time. As Caterina and Rafe dance around the proverbial elephant in the room, Rafe pulls Caterina out of her shell, into the woman who is capable of handling her own.
The world building follows several paths including the breakdown and dysfunctional family dynamics; betrayal by blood from within both families; and a potential war on the horizon for power and control.
The relationship between Maeve and Rafe begins as acquaintances where they will meet at their respective siblings’ wedding. Maeve is reluctant and scared to take steps beyond that which she is no longer in control, and Rafe suspects there is more to Maeve’s story than he could have ever imagined. A relationship begins to develop but Maeve knows that she only has Rafe for a limited time regardless of their palpable sexual attraction. The $ex scenes are passionate and intense .
Once again, there is a large ensemble cast of secondary and supporting characters including family and siblings from both crime world families: Maeve’s siblings (Quinn, Dare, Callum, Kellan, Eamon), their mother Orla; Raphael’s siblings (Leo, Gianni, Caterina) and their father , the ruthless and brutal Alessio Neretti. The requisite evil has many faces.
FIX YOU is a story of betrayal and vengeance, power and control, dysfunctional family dynamics, acceptance and love. The premise is haunting, edgy, dramatic and tragic; the romance is healing and provocative; the characters are desperate yet spirited.
If you’ve read books one and two of Author Katie Ashley’s Irish Rogue Series, you have already had a chance to meet Maeve Kavanaugh and Raphael (Rafe) Neretti.

Readers will get a dual point of view and we will learn exactly what incident that had the Kavanaugh brothers protecting Maeve. Along with that from Rafe we got his and his brothers view of why it was time for their father to pass the reins of the Neretti family to Rafe.
Maeve has been trying, with therapy to get over the event that occured that would change her life. It was Rafe without knowing her background who helped her realize that with support she could overcome her nightmares and move forward. Something she had been trying to do. She put her trust in him.
Rafe had is own problems taking over his familia along with realizing now that he was Capo he would need to get married. A contract was signed, he resigned himself to it and then he met Maeve and everything changed for him.
Family is everything to the Kavanaugh’s as it is to the Neretti family, their families alliance is new, very new.
Maeve and Rafe’s relationship willing share some secrets with each other are also are holding back others that may rip them and their families apart.

Lots of action, a newly forged alliance and two people falling in love, have readers on the edge of their seats.
(Please note that there are a number of triggers in this story. Please do your due diligence as a reader if triggers are important to you.)
𝐅𝐢𝐱 𝐘𝐨𝐮 is the 3rd book in the Irish Rogues Series by Katie Ashley, featuring a riveting and emotional mafia romance for Maeve and Raphael. She’s the Irish mafia princess who has suffered immeasurable trauma under the archaic rules placed on woman in her father’s world view. All she wants now is to be seen for who she truly is, not the damaged shell she wants to leave behind. Unfortunately, the only man who makes her feel safe and alive is totally off-limits. Rafe is the brother to her new sister-in-law, head of his family, and promised to another in an arranged marriage. Can they indulge in a secret, passionate, temporary arrangement without broken hearts or even more dire consequences?
First and foremost, please read the TWs for this one you read, as some very sensitive and traumatic topics are addressed!! While Maeve’s story was immensely painful and difficult to read, the raw and gritty emotions and her inspirational strength were handled beautifully. I love the world building of this series… the hierarchy of the world, the way the brothers work together to exact their revenge when needed, and the way they strive to treat women differently than their fathers. I also enjoyed the friendships that developed between the women. My emotions went through the wringer with this one! As a woman with older brothers, my heart hurt for the boys as they struggled with their pain over Maeve’s trauma as well. So much healing was needed here! With that phoenix rising vibe, the forbidden romance, the drama, the action, and the suspense, I couldn’t put it down! I can’t wait for more from these characters!! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ 🌶️🌶️🌶️🌶️
I devoured this book in one setting. Finished it the day it was released. I have been waiting for Maeve and Raphael since the first book. Their chemistry was palpable to me since the first book and I was hoping I didn't have to wait a long time for their book. Thank you, God. I'm so grateful for Katie Ashley that she released this early my heart, Loved it.
Now to the book, Omg this book was interesting, tragic, traumatic, and romantic; it had strength, family bond, love, a strong maternal figure, strong siblings, and just again strength.
What Maeve overcame in this book, I felt like I was rooting for her from the sidelines and I wanted her to have her happily ever after because she deserved it; if anyone did she did. Raphael was just the guy she needed in her life and his strength (even though I wanted to smack his head sometimes BUT he redeemed himself) the love were perfect for her. Their siblings are my favorite on both sides, love those scenes they are just hilarious and a breath of fresh air. I miss the sibling camaraderie in books these days, for me it makes the book more alive and joyful. I strive to find joy in life and this book was everything and more.
For some scenes, I couldn't connect to their actions but then I realized I couldn't connect because I've not been through what they have and I'm just outside watching in, and that their route to HEA, and I'm just here for the ride. So nothing negative but excited for the next books and Katie Ashley does not disappoint her readers.
What a fabulous story. Maeve Kavanaugh and Raphael Neretti. Maeve is the daughter of an Irish clan leader. She has been told that she is to have an arranged marriage. She keeps refusing but her father never listens to her. Then one day her father made her get together with the man he wanted her to marry as a business arrangement. He physically forced her and it changed her dramatically. Because of that she is traumatized so bad it still has effects on her. Needless to say she is a nervous wreck and has nothing to do with men. It has been a year and her father and intended bridegroom are gone. Now one of her brothers has married and there is a party. She is reluctant to go but her family is persistent. She goes and sees how happy her brother and is bride is especially since they are Irish and his bride is Italian. Maeve met some of the bride’s brothers and there is one who is especially appealing and his name is Raphael. She even danced with him. He made her feel safe. There is an attraction between them but that is impossible because they are enemies even with the new Alliance because of the marriage. But when has that ever stopped someone? There is only one tiny problem. Raphael has signed a contract to an arranged marriage. And…..he has not told Maeve. They see each other during family gatherings and it is getting harder to stay away especially for Raphael. But there are too many possible repercussions that could destroy them if he breaks the contract. Is it worth the risk? What do you think?
This is a beautiful and moving story. Definitely difficult to read in some parts, but still worthy, in my opinion. However, I have a couple of issues with it. The first being that we don't get much of a background story for Raphael as we do for Maeve. And that is probably why I felt a bit surprised when . I probably felt more surprised than the character himself because nothing in his story led to that. Sure, he has a temper, but so do many other characters in this series. It didn't feel like that big of a deal to me, considering the whole context. I'm sure that with more background story showing his issue and how it could be debilitating somehow that part in the end when he would have made a lot more sense and would have been even more beautiful. My second issue is Leandro. Did he really have to wait until the very last minute to come up with his brilliant solution to solve his brother's predicament? I mean, it was pretty obvious from the very beginning. Why had he waited so long?? His brother had to for him to start acting! Ridiculous! He could have saved Rafe and Maeve a lot of misery by simply being more open and proactive! Other than those, I'm really loving this series and can't wait for the next book!
Raphael and Maeve's forbidden romance has it all, from being raw and heart pounding one moment, then sweet and steamy the next, it kept me completely captivated from start to finish. Mafia life is not easy, and both Maeve and Raphael have painful and tragic encounters brought on by their fathers that changed their lives forever. Maeve is still trying to recover from what happened to her when she meets Raphael, her new sister-in-law's brother. He doesn't know her history and doesn't look at her with sad eyes. When he asks her to dance, it sets into motion her desire to move past her trauma. Raphael is the head of his family now and he must honor an arranged marriage to make them stronger. But Maeve calls to him and is unlike any other woman. She makes him want to be a better man. Even though there are many complications working against them, they find ways to be together, surreptitiously. But what happens when her brother's discover their secret, and his marriage draws near as well? Will he break a contract that pulls both their families into a war, or will he honor it and break both their hearts for good? I loved Raphael and Maeve together. They are both wounded souls who help each other heal and become stronger, and their chemistry is explosive! I also loved catching up with both their families who are funny, and unconditionally supportive, loyal and loving. This is a moving, heart pounding, and steamy story that had me mesmerized from beginning to end.
I have not read a book in a long time that rips out your heart and helps put it back together again as you're reading it. Fix you is the perfect name for this book. This one had me sitting in my emotions after I was done with it.
Poor Maeve my heart breaks for her and what she has to endure. Due to her father, she and her brothers did not have the best child hood growing up. She dreams to be normal and experience life and to be loved. Due to past trauma she is having a hard time achieving it.
And then she meets Raphael. Rafe who's upbringing was not the best at all either is a lady's man. He's a love em and leave em. No one ever caught his attention like our Maeve has. There is something about her that makes him want to protect her.
Together they go thru it all. I mean this is not an easy love situation happening. Everything and anything you can think of is put up against these two. Rafe is determined and set that no one will take his love. He will do what it takes to prove to Maeve their ain't nothing the past and present can do that will come between them.
You will go thru it with this one. But just like Maeve and Rafe, you will come out stronger in the end.
Get ready to be emotionally pulled into every direction possible! This one was a tough one but so incredibly happy ending. Katie writes with such passion and rawness that it will leave you feeling spent, in all the best ways. I was so engrossed in this story that it was truly difficult to pause reading it.
The book opens with a prologue (trigger warning SA) describing a devastating trauma our heroine goes through. It left me feeling sick for our heroine and just hoping she would one day find her true happiness. The book then moves to present day. Our hero is meeting his future wife who’s been chosen by his father to form an alliance between the two mafia families. While our hero doesn’t want to marry his new fiancée he’s agreed to the contract.
And then our hero meets our heroine and there is an instant connection and chemistry. They both try to fight it and go their separate ways but somehow they find their way back to each other and start to find happiness and true healing. But our hero is betrothed to another and they can’t be together if he’s going to marry another. But when the chips are down and our hero thinks he might loose the woman he loves, can he break the alliance and risk everything for love?
If you like mafia romance, please go read this! It’s a tear jerker in the best way! And a HEA guarantee.
Another good addition to a really fun series! I have enjoyed the books so far and was excited to dig into Maeve and Raphael's story. This one definitely had some deep topics and I would suggest reading the trigger warnings, especially if SA is a concern for you.
I love these families and how each character has their own story, even with the over-arching storyline moving forward. The family bounds are amazing and the love they have for each other is heartwarming.
Two areas I struggled with in this book: 1. I felt like Maeve kind of emotionally blackmailed Raphael into a physical relationship with her. Yes, he wanted her but he was also trying very hard to be a "good man" and was pretty open about how he was not expecting their relationship to go there. Given his own personal situation, that made total sense. Maeve didn't really seem interested or care about WHY he may have been holding back and instead seemed to just want to use him to get over her own PTSD. I realize the feelings grew much stronger for both of them and they had a connection but it bothered me that she never asked him why he was holding back or if it was something he wanted to pursue - just basically begged him to help her. 2. The major conflict between them being together felt forced. When the solution came up need the end of the book, I was like....obviously, that should have been the first thing they thought of! I also didn't like how Raphael basically rolled over as soon as the other family made some very low level threats instead of going alpha/mafia boss and taking the fight straight to them. It didn't feel very in character of him.
All things considered, I still enjoyed the story and I am interested to see which character we get a deeper dive into next. I love the interconnected storylines! It's like you don't have to really say goodbye to the characters even when their happily-ever-after is finished.
As much as i would love to give this book 5 stars i just can’t. It was so underwhelming that i just wanted to give up, but I have been waiting on this book from the book 1 when Maeve’s and Rafe’s dance was described for the first time so I needed to give it a chance. I was so excited for their story and then it felt like they were side characters in their own book. Everything that happened in the previous 2 books took more space and details than moments between the two of them. It felt too fast and without any depth. When I’m reading the book, especially one with such a strong characters, i want them to be the centerpiece, i want them to stand out. I certainly don’t want to see other characters taking up all the space (especially the ones that already have their own books) and that was my main problem here, even though there were some plot holes I would gladly choose not to see them if Maeve and Rafe were respected as characters as they should have been. I’m really sad and angry at how disappointing this was. 3 stars are just because i love those two and i think their story deserved so much more.

Fix You is the third book of The Irish Rogues Series by Katie Ashley.
Fix You tells the story of Maeve Kavanaugh (MFC) who is an Irish Mafia princess and Raphael “Rafe” Neretti who is the Italian Mafia capo. Maeve and Rafe meet at their siblings’ wedding. This initial encounter is a powerful one for both of them. They are equally attracted to one another 🔥🔥🔥 and Rafe knows there is more about Maeve that meets the eye. Rafe does not know at the time that was sold and betrayed by her father and was forced to marry a man who was violent.
Characters from the first two books appear in this book - Maeve’s siblings (Quinn, Dare, Callum, Kellan, Eamon), their mother Orla; Raphael’s siblings (Leo, Gianni, Caterina).
Fix You is a story of family dysfunction and betrayal from both families. Their romantic relationship is HOT and STEAMY!!! Lots of twists and turns. I really enjoyed this book.
It took a while for me to finish the book. The first couple of pages are rough to get through. Maeve Kavanaugh is our FMC and she was attacked in a heinous event that was orchestrated by her father and his father also forced her brothers to be involved. There's guilt, remorse, protectiveness in wrapped in Maeve's relationship with her brother. She's protected and her brother's treat her like a princess that needs to be under supervision for her own protection. Maeve constantly is working through her trauma. She retreats within herself often.
Raphael Neretti is the head of his family. Raphael is walking a tight line because of how he obtain his position. He has to get married in order to protect his family's position in the underworld of the Italian mafia. When Maeve and Raphael meet, their connection is magnetic and almost instant. Maeve isn't hiding when she's around Raphael. Rafe transformed himself for Maeve. I was rooting for them all throughout the book and was happy for them at the end.
Book Three in The Irish Rogue Series is heartbreaking and heartwarming when it comes to Rafe & Maeve. Maeve Kavanaugh has a endured a tragic experience and no matter what it has haunted her and she doesn’t know if she will ever overcome it even with the support of her family, that is until she meets Rafe Neretti. Rafe is the next in line to becoming the head of his family, living the playboy life and keeping his brothers in line, with a arranged marriage as part of his life he never expects that his alliance with the Kavanaugh family would lead him to Maeve. Rafe & Maeve know that being together will have consequences that even they didn’t realize could be dire but sometimes the heart gets in the way and it knows that it only wants that person. We will see the struggles they will endure but at the end of the day a HEA is all that could ever want.
Maeve and Raphael love story was so different from what I would have expected. Raphael grew up in the Italian underworld and know what was expected of him. He was willing to except what was going to be his personal life until he laid eyes on Maeve. Maeve was from a world that he wasn't suppose to be willing to compromise for. She was part of the Irish underworld and unfortunately had the scars to show for it. It is those scars that made Raphael more attracted and wanting to protect her. Maeve in so many ways surprised me with how she stood up for herself and was willing to work through her demons. It was interesting to watch how Raphael dealt with things now that he was in Callum's position. There is so many twist and turns in this story that I couldn't put it down. I can't wait for the rest of the books in this series.
This is the third book in this impressive series, and this is Raphael and Maeve’s story. After his father’s death, Rafe become the head of the Italian underworld, and he knows that an arranged marriage is on the cards for power not love. Maeve is from the Irish mafia, and is the only girl in her family, with her surrounded by her overprotective brother’s. All thoughts of an arranged marriage disappear when Rafe meets Maeve, and lines become blurred. This is a well written action packed story which has family, friendships, emotions, alliances, forbidden romance, an age gap, twists and turns, survival, trauma, challenges, undeniable chemistry, and love, which leads to an entertaining, spicy, haunting, tragic, twisted, and unpredictable, mafia romance. I look forward to reading more from this talented author whose work I highly recommend.
I did like this book when I first stared, but I did find it to be a little repetitive of Callum and Caterina’s book. I know it takes place on the same timeline but I felt I didn’t need that much retelling of what I already knew. I also found that a lot of the focus was on Caterina.. like this is supposed to be about Maeve and Rafe and their relationship.. not about how much all the brothers care about Caterina. Then when it finally kind of focused on Rafe and Maeve, It was kind of all over the place. Her suggesting he go to anger management and then not knowing who Tony Soprano is?? Kind of silly. Maeve trying to start a stupid argument when Rafe just got a phone call about one of his businesses being blown up ?? Like really? Now? I skipped the epilogues cause .. I just didn’t care. The more I read this book, the lower my rating went.
I have been waiting for Rafe and Maeve's story and in places it certainly cut to the quick - so please read the trigger warnings.
On paper their relationship shouldn't work - Maeve didn't need sympathy or be treated like a broken shell, Rafe saw her as resilient and strong, for a man who didn't do 'feelings' he did bumble a couple of times, but the attraction was too strong and he had her trust, which was huge.
The kink scene was a little underwhelming, and there is a repeat of the Dublin shoot-out, but from Maeve's POV, which was still confusing to be honest.
The two epilogues was left me content.
Nothing was noted about future books, but I do hope we get the other brothers' story - from both sides!
I have been looking forward to this book since the first book in the series recognizing that their story wasn’t over after they first met in book one. A story of unexpected and forbidden love complicated by honor and tradition and demons of the past and over protective brothers. Rafe though doesn’t see the trauma of Maeve’s past allowing her the chance to heal and feel loved and whole while striving to be a better man worthy of Maeve heart. I couldn’t put this book down I laughed and I cried seeing Rafe and Maeve’s connection grow and deepen and watching Maeve reclaim her life was everything any woman who has dealt with trauma could hope for under the gentle guidance and love of a man like Rafe.
Raphael is set to marry another woman when he spots Maeve at his sisters wedding reception. Their connection is evident but not meant to be. This doesn't stop Rafe from wanting to see her or be in her presence. Knowing that she has been through something traumatic, all he wants to do is help her. Maeve wants more than anything to be more than her past to feel normal. Rafe makes her feel comfortable and safe, but he is set to marry another woman.
This was a passionate, spicy, and emotional read. One I very much enjoyed. The story was heartbreaking as much as it was healing. The sadness and angst I felt for this couple was almost unbearable. I loved the HEA.
